Great reminiscing of Argentina! This spot is amazing if you are looking for authentic argentine food. The taste is fantastic. The service was also great, super accommodating from all the staff in the place. The ambience was great really cold inside though lol. Make sure to bring a jacket!

Food and service were amazing! The parrillada can feed over 2 people since there was so much bbq. Lomito especial was sooo yummy. I will definitely be back for this one. The dessert was tasty as well. This place is perfect for a date night or dinner with friends or family.

A pleasant plans change!! Was originally going to meet friends at a different restaurant but due to poor time management we ended up here!! SUPER glad we did!! When I tell you that the chicken special is the BEST sandwich Ive had in a while I MEAN IT!!! I was blown away by the freshness, flavors and size!! I asked for French fries instead of breakfast potatoes, great choice! The chai latte was delicious! The place is small and cozy. Our server was amazing!! Can't wait to be back!!! Haven't been able to stop thinking about that sandwich!!

I was so excited to try this spot after all the reviews and ended up disappointed. I ordered pick-up via Grubhub. The food was ready as scheduled and that was probably the only thing that went well. I ordered a flan but they didn't have any so they offered to swap it out with any other dessert - there was dulce de leche coconut cake, tres leches, and tiramisu. I opted for the tres leches. For mains we ordered the milanesa napolitana and la tana pizza. The milanesa was overly salty and fries were hard and over fried. The only thing I enjoyed was the amount of cheese as a cheese lover, but cheese already has salt so I would have preferred if the steak was further salted. Fries were too crunchy. Milanesa is such an Argentine staple and it was so disappointing. The pizza crust was quite hard on the edges and I wanted a softer crust as well...wasn't cut well so we had to cut further. The center seemed quite thin and stuck to the pizza box when we tried to grab the pizza. The sundried tomatoes added a nice acidic contrast though. We also got sauteed veggies on the side - not bad but also salty. The tres leches was moist on one side and dry and hard on the other. It was also way too sweet and you could feel the sugar particles when eating the meringue on the outside - it should have been throughly incorporated. Maybe it was my mistake ordered tres leches from a non Mexican spot. I'm not sure if I would give this another try.

SOOOOO FIRE. Everything I tried was so good. the picture shown is the Milanesa Especial and it was a 10/10 definitely want to get it again. also the tres leches was literally perfect it was so light and spongy definitely try it. The restaurant was really cute inside as well and had an adorable outside seating area too.

Shared a house special BBQ for 2 8/12/2025! It was a glorious masterpiece. Hard to believe that all those meats can be delivered done just right simultaneously! Wow Definition of a "hidden gem", if you ask me! Nice service. There are many bev options, but BYOB for alcohol.

I'm kind of shocked I've never written a review for La Nonna. I mean I lived in the neighborhood for 4 years and went here a handful of times, but nothing is coming up in my list of reviews for here. Well let me just say it here, first and foremost, I think La Nonna is such a unique little lunch spot. The mix of Argentinian and Italian cuisine under one roof makes for some delicious comfort meals you just wanna share with some friends and chill for hours on end talking about nothing. Also not to mention, they make some amazing lattes in-house that you need to try. They have a separate breakfast and lunch menu that you can order from at different times. I believe after 10am their breakfast menu converts to their lunch hours. Even though I went during the lunch hours, I was able to order a hearty sausage skillet that was beautifully presented on an exclusive La Nonna cutting board. The restaurant was bustling for a Saturday afternoon, so it took about 5 mins to get a seat, but the service was always prompt. I love to keep La Nonna in my rotation of food stops to recommend to locals as I think it is a real special place to eat from in Chicago and I sincerely hope it stays in its lowkey area for a while.

Such a cute neighborhood spot! Clean and cozy and warm on a cold January rainy/slushy day! We started w chicken empanadas, i ordered the veggies burger w sweet potato fries, and my friend got the chicken milanesa and seasoned fries. Absolutely delicious!!! Waiter was friendly! Ended w the cinnamon roll! To die for!!! Exactly the right amount of cinnamon and sweet. Will love to return!

For sides, we got the papas fritas and the spinach mashed potatoes (highly recommend). The spinach mash doesn't even taste like spinach but it's a beautiful green color. To end the meal, we got a traditional Argentinean cookie called alfajores. It was pretty good. It was served cold, as if they had just took it out of the fridge. They had a very nice bread server with four individual oval French loaves with very tasty butter. We tried the provoleta with peppers because we like that a lot in Argentina, but this was nothing like it and I guess that was to be expected. There they have a bunch of drier version of provolone and they grill it directly on the grill grates and it doesn't really melt too much. This tasted like standard provolone cheese and it was melted in a bowl. It was tasty, and unfortunately they probably can't get the Argentinian version of the cheese they would need to do it correctly. Our friends got the beef brochette with asparagus and the outside skirt steak and both were fabulous. Well seasoned and grilled and tender. My husband and I got the 2 pound stuffed fillet! It supposedly had ham in the filling but I couldn't taste it or see it anywhere. Unfortunately it had a really strongly flavored sauce along with the portobello mushrooms. We expected something with fewer herbs, which kind of overpowered the beef. It's a shame because the way they described it on the menu is not what came out. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't what we were expecting and unfortunately, the beef flavor was hard to discern because of all of the herbs in the dark brown sauce. We brought our own wine and they didn't even have a corkage fee, which was amazing! We saw other plates go by with copious amounts of tomatoes and onions on salads and the filet mignon platter, it seemed like it was three or four pieces of fillet it had to be nearly a pound for one serving. The prices are pretty steep for the beef and they do charge $10 for sharing, however it might be worth just getting one of the larger plates and spending the 10 bucks to share as opposed to getting an entrée each and taking home lots of food which we did.

The warm table bread and butter was pretty good so it was an effort to keep from eating too much and ruining our appetite. We split a chicken empanada to start which was really good, especially with the chimichurri sauce. For mains, we split the parillada para dos - a large meat platter meant for two. It was came with a little house salad and was a super good deal with all the meat they gave you (we ended up with lunch the next day, too!) The best part of the dish was the short ribs. Super soft and sort of fatty tasting, but not in a gross way, in a really yummy way. We also really liked the chorizo sausage. The flap tastes good, but was a little tougher than the other meat. The beef sweetbread and blood sausage were different, a little bit of an odd texture, but still good.

We never expected happy hour to be relevant for us, but our wonderful server pointed it out. Since none of us had tasted pisco before she brought us a pisco sample to try. Three of the four of us ordered pisco cocktails, and they were great! The chilcano is a pisco variation on a Moscow mule. I'm not a big fan of mules, but I liked the chilcano a lot. Whenever I'm back, I'll probably go for the pisco sour, which one of our party had and also really enjoyed. The arroz chaufa was a nice satisfying dinner that wasn't too heavy for the early hour. The loma saltado and vegetable saltado were both very much enjoyed as well. Flan was just okay. The orange was a wonderful touch that probably saved something much too custardy for me to think of as flan. Service was absolutely great. Everyone we interacted with was super professional and easy going. We didn't know what to expect for the space, and when we arrived before sunset, it felt weird how bright it was in there. After sunset, the whole space felt a lot more swanky. Prices are a good value, even apart from the happy hour offerings. This is a great option for pre-show dining in the loop.

I came here after seeing the other reviews of the Deli and because of my love of empanadas. They have them here in a variety of sweet and savory flavors. The day I stopped in they had spinach, mushroom, ham & cheese, chicken, ground beef, cheese & onion, and on the sweet side quince, sweet potato, and caramel. As much as I wanted to try them all I decided to "just" go with spinach, mushroom, ham & cheese, chicken and the quince for dessert. The crust on the savory empanadas were crispy, flaky and buttery. All of the fillings were super flavorful. I'm only a recent convert to mushroom-eating, and the mushroom empanada was my favorite. I think it was the most flavorful of all of the ones I ate and I actually forgot that I was actually eating mushrooms! The quince empanada had a little thicker/harder shell, and had a quince jelly-like filling. It was very heavy but pretty good. Not too sweet. At a little less than $2 a pop, they're the perfect snack.
