Believe me I came in thinking this was going to be bomb!! Well, it was disgusting. I ordered a wet burrito, and found a hair on my food.

Just tried there on Thursday, and it's was terrible! The only thing that was decent was the beans and rice. I felt the place was dirty! The tables weren't cleaned off and the atmosphere wasn't very comfortable! I felt very uncomfortable for myself to be there for the first time it wasn't good at all Had carne asada tacos and they had absolutely nothing on them but meat and tortillas. Hope my review helps. OK so we came here to try breakfast somebody had recommended it to us and we decided to give it a try today so first off the place is not that great by that I mean the location and the set up , it almost seems kind of dirty from the outside, doesn't look like a place you want to try LOL but once you getting in and order your food original Mexican it was totally worth it they have homemade Mexican rice and beans are really good , very flavorful and we had birria and some chile verde tacos, those were absolutely amazing and they also have a bakery and they make their own homemade tortillas which is always a plus, I would totally go again to eat there although like I said it's not a very attractive place to go it should be more clean and they should totally change the whole set up!! So I quickly logged onto Yelp, searched and there it was, La Paloma, less then a few miles from my office. This is a small restaurant, bakery and store that hit the spot. I'm giving it 2 stars because it was very well priced, otherwise I would have given it 1. The burrito is very greasy (dripping oil) and not really tasty at all. Tacos are very bland , tamales were okay but nothing to brag about. The ladies serving the food used their bare hands to load the ingredients on the burrito and taco, pretty disgusting. I'm from the Bay Area, but was in LA to visit an ailing relative. Came here on Saturday, 9/23/17, because Yelp recommended their bakery. Upon entering the bakery, I was gravitated to their restaurant. Everywhere I looked, people were eating menudo, AND everything else looked authentic and delicious. As I kept on walking towards the back, I saw a woman making fresh tortillas. That's when I was SOLD!!! I vowed to return for breakfast the next day, even though we had to leave at exactly 9am on Sunday morning. We arrived in the restaurant at 8am, and ordered 5 bowls of Menudo (for the 5 adults), my 11 year old finicky eater only ordered rice and carne asada, and my 14 yr old ordered two ceviche tostatdas, ALL came w/ fresh tortillas ... ALL foods, including my youngest one, were consumed. We had NO REGRETS. We will definitely come back here the next time we visit LA. Oh! And the man behind me, he brought his own pot/caldero to be filled w/ menudo!!!!! Next time, I'm bringing my own too! So I can eat it on my 5 hour drive home. And I won't be sharing. ;-) read more

Try this place because I had a friend at the city of hope hospital. Decided to try and grab a bite at this place and it is delicious. I had the adobada Burrito and my wife had the bean and cheese burrito both were delicious. And their bakery was pretty good too. Love the fact that they use handmade tortillas for the tacos right on the facility. Next time you're stuck in traffic on the 210 freeway stop by here and grab yourself some food. read more

Leaving City of Hope and drove by ....I should've kept on driving. I thought I'd give it a second chance, so I ordered tacos adobada. No cilantro, very rough chop lettuce, a slap of the butt of tomato and when I bit into it there were onion peels. The tamarindo Agua Fresca was room temp and watered down...yuck! This is the local favorite Mexican restaurant in Santa Barbara, the service is Topnotch and the food is always fast and fresh! Alex the bartender is my favorite in town, he knows how to pour a drink and always keeps me and the guys happy! The kind of bartender that reads your mind when you need a glass of water or a refill or just has a cheesy joke to cheer you up! There was so much lettuce I thought I was having a lettuce burrito with some burned tasting rice and hard fatty meat. Although the horchata was just okay, I would not return here for any reason. I have visited this place a few times already and every time we continue to go the service is worse. The were many people ordering and we ordered 6 combos since the lady makes the tortillas there there was a wait, but two customers were inpatient because their orders weren't being made went to the lady making tortillas to her response being that our order was first but the two customer called the manager to complain. The manager then went to tell the lady making tortillas to skip us and give the lady's there orders. The food I assume since it was rushed didn't come correctly we asked for plain carne Assad tacos and it came with lettuce onion beans and a thick slice of tomato. All the other or their came somewhat normal with the exception of their salad with lettuce and one thick slice of tomato as well. One meal look as if someone had been eating from it. The flavor for most of them were okay some dry but what's expected from cooked food that's sitting all day on top of heaters. read more

The food is authentic and the prices are good. The only negative I have to say is they sell out of champurrado. The service is quick and the employees are very nice. In terms of rodents and other creepy crawling things - that applies to where ever we go. Leave a door open and things make their way inside. Lots of customers throughout the day so the doors are constantly opening and closing. Bring to the attention areas of concern to the owners/managers and they will take care of it - end of story. I think the food is delicious and I was happy to find out they also sell tamales. An added bonus during the holiday season. read more

I always order either the enchiladas or the chile rejenos both really good! Some yummy, traditional Mexican food close to work. I come here every now and then with my co-workers for lunch. Usually we call it "Burrito Fridays". The aguas frescas are delicious, but some days they are better. I guess it depends on who made them. The restaurant itself is very small with a limited number of tables inside. We usually order to go since we are a big group and it tends to be hot inside with all the cooking going on. I typically get tacos or a burrito or a torta or ceviche or a plato de asada.The food has always tasted good and I've never had an issue with it. I love that they have champurrado early in the morning, but it does sell out quickly. The employees are so kind though, that I've called in and they've saved a cup of champurrado for me. I also enjoy that during Lent, they have a special seafood menu on Fridays. You can get anything with fish in it (burrito, taco, torta, etc.). They even have whole fried Tilapia! Mmmmm, my favorite. The employees are super friendly and courteous. There is also a panederia aka Bakery right next door where not only can you get pan dulce, but also tortillas, huaraches (not the shoes), bolillos, chicharrones, carnitas, and buche.
