We went to celebrate a birthday and a friend's last day in NY before returning to Greece. The food was excellent and we ate so much we had to get cappuccinos to keep us awake. The house salad had the perfect amount of dressing and the waiter served us each a perfectly portioned plate. We were a party of 6 and there was so much food left over, we had lunch the next day. The grilled chicken and shrimp combo was perfectly cooked, the veggies were the perfect mix of crunch and soft and the chicken was still juicy. The seafood marinara was tasty and the seafood wasn't rubbery which is always a fear I have. It was the single portion but still enough for two people. We had the stuffed filet of sole special and it went so quickly I didn't have a chance to take a picture. The brownie sundae was a basic sundae but was delicious. The ricotta cheesecakes were nice and light but definitely an acquired taste. The cappuccino was watered down and tasted more like a watered down coffee with foam and cinnamon on top, but paired well with the sweetness of the brownie. It wasn't a busy night but the service could've been better. Don't get me wrong, the wait staff was nice but they also took a long time to get basic things like lemons for the water and had to be reminded that we asked for it. They are a valet only parking lot, I didn't realize that when I parked but gave the valet worker my keys and he had my car waiting for me at the door on the walk out. Decided to go to La Parma in Williston Park, as I haven't been there in a while. We were immediately greeted by Rollie, our waiter, who was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful with the menu. Between him and our busboy, John, our water/soda was never empty and our bread basket was always full. As an appetizer, we decided to order the stuffed artichoke and the spicy calamari. My dining companion thought the stuff artichoke was a bit mushy, and it looked so, but the spicy calamari was beyond delicious. That dish is a definite MUST.  For mains, we decided to share the chicken campagnolo style and the seafood pasta. The seafood pasta had large clams, shrimps, mussels and calamari. Portions are family style with plenty to fill you up and still take some home. Both dishes were tasty and are highly recommended. read more

Recently I went to dinner at the original location with my Aunt and Uncle. I think I might have eaten there as a child but I don't really remember. They seated me right away and wasn't waiting too long for them to arrive. I was brought ice water and fresh warm bread and butter immediately. Our server was absolutely wonderful and so kind-definitely already 5 stars before our food arrived. To start, we shared a chopped salad and fried zucchini. The chopped salad was good as usual, very fresh. I had never ordered their fried zucchini before and I loved it. The zucchini was cut a bit thicker than shoestrings but not like spears either. It was breaded not battered and had a nice crunch. We devoured it and not a crumb was left lol. We then shared Chicken La Parma which is kind of like a chicken Marsala but not really. It had a ton of fresh mushrooms and chopped onions in the sauce which had a hint of tomato sauce in it. The chicken was a little thick but it didn't bother me but next time I'll ask for the kitchen to make them thinner. Definitely enjoyed the meal and to top it off we shared a tartufo for dessert. Valet service! Found management and support staff to be welcoming and helpful. The dining area is airy and pleasing. I was a bit confused about family style. I firmly believe that any dish you want as a family can only serve one hungry and somewhat not that hungry person. We were a group of 10 and was a bit disappointed in the terminology of family style. Some dishes were not even big enough for a slight taste. I suggest, you just purchase a 1/2 family dish per person. The food was good but not amazing considering the assortment of dishes I ordered. If you look for great Italian food this is for sure the place. The original La Parma. They have a couple of locations but this is the best. Friendly staff and great food. They for sure do not disappoint when it comes to the family sized style portions. I mean everything was great from the bread that they provide to the clams and pasta dishes. I always love stuff shells and they make it great here. The fried calamari was just delicious and well made. Chicken parm was tender and moist. The penne al vodka was cooked perfectly and good sauce. My lifelong friend treated me to dinner here recently. This place is a favorite of him and his wife. He ordered the linguine with red and white clam sauce, it was outstanding! Vampires beware! I've always been a fan of the old school rustic presentation and flavors here. Italian herbs and especially garlic are on full blast in all the dishes. With all the garlic they put in the dishes, La Parma must have a garlic farm in the back. So unless you've got a strong taste for bloood, you'll be fine eating here,... hahah A must order with EVERY visit has got to be their linguine with white clams sauce. There is just a lot of great clam meat and essence, it's one of my favorite linguine with white clam sauce ever. Every once in a while the linguine isn't al dente but the sauce more than makes up for that. I'll never know how they get so much strong clam flavor in the sauce, when the linguine is al dente, this dish might be the best linguine with white clam sauce ever. Zuppa-awesome! Be it Zuppa de clams or mussels, this dish in a red sauce is soooo delicious. You've got great clam or mussel flavor with lots of garlic. You've got to make sure you got a fresh batch of warm bread to soak up all this sauce. It's awesome! The scungilli marinara isn't always available but when it is, it is truly better here than anywhere else. Tender pieces of scungilli in marinara sauce is perfect. Another favorite has got to be the fried calamari. Always perfect and crunchy with a cup of red marinara sauce on the side for dipping. And finally chicken tenders for the kids are great and keep the youngsters happy as well. Waiting for a table during peak hours can be somewhat painful. If you come during off hours, both the wait and street parking is never really a problem. They also have several locations but this one is my favorite. read more

A good cheesy Italian cantina with high prices, globs of food and heavy on the oil, salt and sugar. The service is good, the atmosphere is ok and it gets packed. It's better than the other La Parmas FOR SURE. But it seems there is a law that the staff can't speak in Spanish to you because when I speak to them in Spanish they answer in English. Every time. Not that it detracts from anything but it's weird to say the least. The portions are family style - family of 4. So if you ask for a small bowl of minestrone make sure you are all wanting to share it. The food is good and if you make requests they will accommodate. Just be aware they are ginormous portions. I give it four stars because it's just a typical Ítalo Americano place to grab some "auténtico" Paisano food and feel good atmosphere. read more

This place is a very subdued spot. Mostly older crowd. Noise level was average with the tv on and patrons speaking. The ambiance was not to my taste but the waiter was very kind and attentive. As for the food, the bread to start with the oil to dip in was great. We devoured it! We looked around at other tables and since the portions seemed GIGANTIC we split one entree between two people. We ordered the Chicken La Parma and the waiter asked if we wanted any pasta. So we asked for the chicken to be placed on a bed of Penne. The dish was very large and perfect for two-three people. They have all the traditional Italian dishes and must sauté their oil in garlic earlier to get this rich flavor. The open main dining area is spacious and they replaced the wall menus with large TVs for a game or music viewing. The year round upstairs and outdoor dining venue in the spring/summer are great for parties large or small. The takeout meals are large and Make catered or at home dinners, for the portion reasonable. Can get busy on the weekends and prime time - but they work it out to get you in! A very disappointing experience at La Parma this weekend. This restaurant has been a family favorite for years. I had not been to the restaurant in a long time since I do not live in the area any more. The service was extremely slow and the food was not as good as in the past. My family and I love La Parma. We have been ordering food from this specific location ( not Port Washington ) for the past 25 years! It is my go to for family style dining in Nassau County. My favorites includr the porterhouse steak, chicken parmagiana, angel hair pasta with meat sauce, the fried calamari arrabbiata is to die for. The food at La Parma, Williston Park is out of this world and the people treat you and take of you like your family. The only problem is that they sometimes overstuff the takeout trays to the point it spills over into the bags. Lol. read more

We came in for dinner on a Friday night. We have had take out from la Parma quite a few times but never ate in. The weren't busy and they sat us together quickly. Their portions are huge.. like a family of four who aren't heavy eaters would be full from one pasta entree. Italian dishes are always heavy but they were extremely generous portions too. You definitely would come with more people? The more the merrier. Luckily we did. As a party of 14 we shared spaghetti & meatballs, white clam sauce pasta, veal, chicken, calamari, baked clams and a salad. I'm incredibly touched by La Parma's staff, and would highly recommend their food and their care. My family, who works in the healthcare industry, came in to pick up food yesterday evening after their shift, and the staff treated us kindly and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious as always. The baked clams had a really nice crispy breaded texture that survived take-out and the trip back home, I would highly recommend it. The linguine with white clam sauce had just the right amount of oil. I also enjoyed their chicken parmesan, a classic recipe with generous cheese. Love La parma! I'm so sad the location in port Washington closed :( so now I go to willis ave one. Tony is the best! He has always taken care of his customers through the years and continues to do so! The food here is excellent family style Italian food. Can't go wrong especially if you love garlic. They love garlic in their cooking and hey I wanna love forever so I eat here! My favorite is the sautéed calamari. I love legs so their calamari has plenty of legs!! Their fried calamari and seafood salad is amazing. I love their chicken parm! They also make an amazing linguine with white clam sauce and bolognese sauce!! My mouth is watering as I write this. While all the other restaurants were closed on Long Island due to inclement weather, this place was opened (yay!) as well as Ihop but I refuse to go to Ihop for dinner so Italian it is and we're so glad we came here. We were the only ones in the restaurant (on a Thursday evening and snowing out) but that didn't discourage us because the service was outstanding and all the food we had were excellent. The menu is simple but very extensive, making me want to order everything on it. I ended up getting the fried calamari arrabiata, mussels in red sauce, homemade meatballs to share and my husband got the shrimp oreganata for himself. The calamari was the best I've ever had. They were perfectly fried and melts in your mouth and the spicy cherry pepper marinara sauce was out of this world delicious! Next comes the Prince Edward mussels in red sauce, their smaller than your typical green shell mussels but in terms of taste, these are definitely better with a rich, sweet flavor to them. The meatballs were okay. Sauce was good but I didn't like the consistency of the meatballs and felt that they were too soft for my liking. My husband liked it though. Last but not least, the 8 shrimp oreganata (with white wine, butter and lemon baked with their special seasoned bread crumbs)...I tasted the sauce and thought it was very overwhelming but my husband said it was the best shrimp he's ever had at an Italian restaurant. Mind you, this is a family style restaurant so the portions are huge and are meant to be shared between a few people. In searching for a private venue for my daughters communion I was referred to this place by a friend. I called them to see if they had the date of the event available once they confirmed it was available; my family took the drive over to finalize arrangements. We were able to view the second floor private room. We were thrilled! We then went to the counter and filled out paper work. We reviewed their event binder with the staff to be sure that the date and time were available. He made sure to check the binder to be sure that the date and time was available. Once he triple checked we paid $500 deposit and finalized our paperwork. I went on to make invitations and book the entertainment providing the information for the place. I get a phone call a week in a half later informing me that the date was booked. I was furious! What kind of establishment solely apologizes after my husband and I viewed their books and clearly saw that the time and date we selected were available. After speaking to the manager and the employee they solely apologized and offered to refund the money. How kind of them to offer a refund to their huge mistake! I do not recommend this place to anyone planning an event! Now I am stuck with these useless invitations and back to square one finding a place to host the event! They offered to host it in their first floor public dining but that is not what we agreed to! Awful customer service! If you like being scammed then this is the place for you! If you've ever watched kitchen nightmares this place would be a prime candidate. It has some life worth saving but, my impression is that the back of the house needs to go. Decor is depressing. The italian marinara used in most dishes reeks of garlic The fried calamari was more like a calamari ghoul-ash. Large chewy chunks of calamari ... barely able to swallow... with all the breading swimming in the sauce. Eggplant rollatini was stuffed with what tasted liked stale ricotta and like the eggplant was prepared 3 days ago. I will give 2 stars JUST because the penne a la vodka was edible and took the bad taste of the eggplant and calamari out of my mouth. This place is a dinosaur. I'm not really a fan of this restaurant, and there's definitely a number of reasons why. Firstly, the entire menu is based upon "family style" Italian cuisine. This is fine enough, but as one option -- an entire menu based upon sharing is troublesome. For example, we had an odd number of people in our party, so three ended up sharing a plate of chicken parm that the waiter said was made for three but really could have just fed one. The meals also offered no sides -- like pasta or a salad -- so it left us hungry and wanting more. The food itself is subpar. I got a salad with romaine, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, red peppers, red onion, and olives, with enough olive oil and balsamic vinegar to drown a small village. The salad was so wet that I couldn't finish the meal. The chicken parm was also decent at best, but wasn't anything special. My party told me that the seafood was fairly good, but I never got to try it. They also gave us less food than was promised for some of our appetizers, though they did right it when we pointed it out. Each table came with warm Italian bread, olive oil, and Italian seasoning, which basically saved the day. Overall it's decent, but not the best Italian that Long Island has to offer. read more

The chicken francese was 3 pcs of chicken with nothing on the side. It tasted pretty standard - not really memorable but not bad. This restaurant has been in business for a long time. It's very well known for the area and has quite a strong return customer base. The food is really average, I can't go as far as saying it's really good. This is American Italian not Italian. Everything on the menu is served in big portions, and is also smothered in cheese and sauce. No complaints on the flavor but the portions are really big, even the small ones. We ordered the calamari arabiata, it was pretty good The Linquini with Marinara as a side was just average Chicken Parma was tasty enough to say it was good but anything smothered in cheese is good. The ricotta cheesecake was the worst cheesecake I've ever had. It was heavy thick and crunchy, also made with lemon zest?? .. crunchy?? The service is good, our waiter did have an accent and tried his best to be supe warm and friendly which I give a thumbs up for. The bar area is kind of crowded which I enjoy seeing. Pricing is questionable. It's a little expensive but they make up for it in portions size. The owner is there and walks around talking to his regulars and greeting/checking on everyone else. Although this is my first review of La Parma, I've been been a couple of times, years ago, and remember it as much better. First, let me say that the place is really nice, clean and with a very friendly staff. But let's face it, we're not going here for the staff. So it's only two of us and we order a fried calamari appetizer and the steak pizzaiola entree'. The calamari looked beautiful. It had a nice color, a light breading, not greasy, but it wasn't salted and it was chewy. I guess if you're slathering the tomato sauce over the calamari, you don't need it salted, plus there's a salt shaker on the table. But I don't necessarily always like sauce or lemon juice on my squid. This being said, it was a large portion and we ate the entire thing. Now, out comes our rib-eye steak, pizzaiola style. Wow! This was a huge portion, certainly enough for 4 or more people. So we wound up eating like pigs and taking a lot home. The steak was good and tender but nothing my mom or I couldn't whip up at home. This is my benchmark for an Italian restaurant, whether I get a better meal out than staying home and cooking myself. Their tomato sauce seemed a bit watery, with lots of garlic and basil. Like I said, it was good, but I remember having pizzaiola style food with thicker, heartier sauce and some more oregano flavor. So I can only give a 2 star rating today and a promise to come back someday with a large group of people and try several dishes that will change my mind about the food. read more
