We stopped by La Parrilla to catch the World Cup match between England and Mexico, and it turned out to be a great spot to watch the game. It wasn't overly crowded, so we had no problem finding a good seat, and the atmosphere was lively without feeling packed. The drinks were definitely strong, which was a plus. Being raised in California, I'm pretty picky about Mexican food, so I kept it simple with a cheese quesadilla. It was satisfying, although nothing that really stood out. The complimentary chips were unfortunately a bit stale, but the salsa made up for it with plenty of fresh flavor and a nice spicy kick. We stayed through the end of the match, and although the staff had started cleaning around us as closing time approached, they never rushed us out. Came here for a light dinner and wasn't disappointed. We were greeted and immediately seated by the host. There is plently of seating and a full bar. The whole place is decorated with catus and other "south of the border" decor. It was casual and the vibe was chill. Love this place and location. I ordered the Del Mar Enchiladas which is pretty much seafood enchiladas with cheese dip. I also ordered a 20oz margarita and it ended up having a gnat in it at some point and our waitress Valentina was able to get me another. They have tvs on in there so if you want to watch any sports, they have them for many angles. This is my go to spot for lunch or a quick bite. Parking is in a shopping plaza so no need to pay. I've been going to La Parilla for years and their food always hits. On my most recent visit, I got a weeknight dinner with some friends at their Howell Mill location. I came on a Thursday evening and our party of 6 was able to be seated on the covered patio within a few minutes. Although I didn't drink on this occasion, their margs are usually pretty solid. On this visit, I got their tinga tacos but I also love their quesadillas and combos too!! My tacos were delicious and seasoned well and I always love the rice and beans they serve on the side. This location is always a little loud, but the service is quick and it's always a great time! I'll be coming back to La Parilla for years to come! read more

Honestly, the food is usually good but the restaurant is raucously loud and the front is overcrowded. For that reason, we usually get takeout, but there have been some bad experiences with that. Today the issue was gluten. "Wheat allergy" was noted on the online order, but when I got there to pick it up I was told that they only had flour chips left. I still collected the order, but what I didn't expect was that the "no corn chips" issue ALSO applied to the tortilla strips that Should Be in the Monterrey salad. I have ordered to go twice in the last two weeks during lunch time. Once in person and the next time on the phone in advance. Keep in mind, lunch time from work is typically a time constraint. When ordering in person, i was told it should be ready in 10 to 15 minutes. 30 minutes later, nothing and having to check on it. Next time, today, ordered to go in advance. Was told it would be ready in 5 to 10 minutes on the phone. Arrive 10 to 15 minutes as know it isnt feasible at 5, then proceeded to wait an additonal 30 to 40 minutes. I have eaten at lunch and can get in and out in less time than that while being waited on. The hostess had me sit down and then my food was available at the bar and then it sat longer until i asked about it, then it was why didnt you come to the bar. Like the customer would know to do that after the Hostess already asked and check on the order intiially. Overall- sitting down to eat might be an option but not ordering to go unless you wait 30 minutes plus to arrive to pick it up. read more

We found a spot quickly, entered the restaurant, and were warmly greeted and seated promptly without a reservation. The security guard on duty even opened the door for us. I've been to this Parilla before, but it's been a while. It was now much brighter and vibrant than I remembered; there must have been some renovations. The huge indoor dining room was festive, with authentic Mexican music playing in the background. Our server quickly brought us complimentary chips and salsa. I liked the chips; they had a good crunch to them, and the salsa had a nice spice level--not too much. Their beer selection was just okay; I ordered a Creature Comfort Tropicallia, while Wifey opted for the Pink Lemonade. We were hungry, so we bundled our drink and food order. Wifey ordered the Shrimp Fajitas meal, and I went for 2 fried chicken tacos with black beans and rice. I noticed the whole place was super clean. In addition to the huge indoor dining area, they had a covered patio for the summertime with sliding garage doors. The food came out quickly and looked and tasted great. The shrimp fajitas were sizzling and steaming, and my chicken tacos were super crunchy and flavorful. A three for me is a solid established. And a place I'd frequent but wouldn't like leave my house and head there specifically. I think the best things going for La Parrilla are location and the bar. The drinks are the star. The food is predictable Americanized Mexican cuisine. Good for large or small groups. Good for families. Something for everyone on the menu. It's eating out vs dining out. And usually the go to spot based on location. I've also used their delivery service and they packaged everything to perfection. If I had my way - and o don't. I'd take out some of the oddly places tables that no one wants to sit at. Consider getting a couple of new - fresh sombreros that are used for the birthday celebrations. And pare down the menu. This chain is one of my favorite Mexican chains in the city. We arrived around 7:30 on a weekend for dinner as this place was quite busy! Luckily we were able to be seated in 15min, and our food only took about 10min to arrive after ordering. While waiting, we were able to snack on the chips and salsa which were pretty good. I ordered the ranchero burrito with chicken and almost missed the fact that it came with a slice of avocado on top! The chicken was seasoned well along with the peppers. The melted cheese on top and the salsa was a nice touch. It came with a side of rice and beans which were also really good. Overall, for the price, it was a good amount of food and good taste. I've been to a few La Parrilla locations.. this one is my favorite! It is the best one in my opinion. Food just tastes better here. The bartender Jonathan is always in a good mood, smiling, funny and just an awesome person to be around. The bar has a nice chill vibe with TVs (we've sat in the restaurant area as well but prefer the bar) Food is consistent and prices are reasonable. Free chips and salsa. YES!! The steak fajita was so good. The steak melted in your mouth like butter. The shrimp taco was delicious if you like slaw and hot peppers on it. However, I asked for the toppings on the side. I'm not a fan of my shell being too soggy. The pineapple spicy margarita was on point. It was the waitress's first day and she wasn't able to answer a few questions which is understandable but she was honest , super nice and very attentive. This location offers plenty of parking and is very nicely decorated. It offers a variety of seating styles from a Patio ambience, a nice size bar area, booths for a more private dining space and, of course, tables if you prefer. The ladies rest room was very clean. I never write reviews but in this moment I feel very moved to write one about La Parrilla. I got a small side dish of guacamole and it really wasn't good. Ignoring the fact that it was $9 for 3 scoops, it legitimately has no flavor- it's extremely bland and a very pale green color. Please learn from my mistakes and don't do what I did, just go to Chipotle. (I'm actually writing this from the Chipotle parking lot... where I had to go because the one from this place was so bad). As I sit here and think about it more, I can say that they absolutely hit the nail on the head- it tastes exactly like I cut an avocado and started eating it straight. Where'd they get this recipe from? It tastes worse than the ones on the back of those store bought guacamoles. No seriously, where'd they get it from? Can anybody tell me? It's flaming hot garbage and needed to be put down a long time ago. I'm so serious when I say to bring your own if you're going to eat here. I can't speak on any other food as I just got guacamole, but I can say that the chips were kind of bland too (lacked salt). He first semi-snatched my I.D from my hand, then he came back and proceeded to tell me "you ready to order because I have to go to the bathroom". He then told me two more times how he had to use the bathroom "for a while". I'm not sure if it was an inside joke with him and his co-workers. I know young guys can be a bit cheeky, but it just felt disrespectful. You also fear something happening to your food if you act too offended so I just smiled and ordered. He was friendly enough throughout the visit and honestly I decided not to take it too personally in order to just have a nice experience, but I kinda regret not saying something and leaving.
