Visiting relatives in Marietta, Georgia, they took us to LA Parrilla Mexican Restaurant. Walking in its decorated with a great Mexican decor. When we were seated, our waiter brought us out fresh chips and salsa. The salsa is awesome! It's got a little spice to it but not too spicy, but very tasty. For dinner, I had the Steak Street Tacos, with rice and beans. These were awesome! The steak on the taco was nice and tender with cilantro and onion. Wonderful! I like some heat so I ordered a couple of grilled jalapeños on the side. I usually just take a bite of the jalapeño after I take a bite of my taco, but they actually chopped up the jalapeño really fine so I can just spoon it onto my taco. My wife got the chicken tacos with rice and beans. She really liked the tacos. The chicken was nice and tender and was not dried out. La Parrilla was a really nice place to dine. Exterior They are at the corner of Dallas Hwy and Barrett Pkwy - in the Publix plaza. There's a nail shop, a 'Joint' chiropractic, a dry cleaner's and a SOHO office on this end, and I guess they all must do a brisk business because no matter the time of day, its a real struggle to find a parking spot. Even the designated 'to go' spots are usually unavailable. No stars deducted - just warning others - be prepared to arrive early so you have time to drive around looking for a spot. Interior Loud and dark. No stars deducted. If I had one recommendation, I'd encourage them to move the 'to go' / delivery pickup orders designated area somewhere else. As of right now, its all the way at the back, but right next to the kitchen. When I was there, there were 6 people waiting on food orders and we were DEFINITELY in the way. The kitchen staff scowled at all of us and I saw at least two servers just bump shoulders with patrons that didn't get out of the way fast enough. Price / Value What you'd expect Food I ordered the burger I raved about in my last review. They attempted to make it twice. First time, they neglected to omit the jalapenos and avocado. I asked for a refund because they were really busy and I'd already wasted nearly an hour at the other LaParrilla trying to get a burger. For anyone wondering why I didn't just remove the jalapenos and avocado its because jalepenos sometime give me an allergic reaction so just removing them won't work. See pic. They also used American cheese instead of the cheddar Monterrey blend. When they brought it back out, it was clear that they'd scraped the American cheese off, and torn the patty up doing so, put the new cheese on it and served it up to me as a fresh burger. See other pic. Customer Service When I pointed this out, Tyler, the manager assured me that this was not the case. He 'swore' to me that he watched them re-make my burger. Because I had already dealt with this LITERALLY an hour or two prior at the Powder Springs location, I took it as sign that some higher power just didn't want me to have a burger today. I can't believe he had the stones to look me dead in the face while he made this statement. With this monstrosity of a burger staring him in the face. At first I thought maybe this is happening because I'm ordering from the American Fusion section of the menu and its a less-commonly ordered item, but NOPE: I noticed another customer come back in with a bag of food while I was waiting. By the time I finished up, when I exited the restaurant and headed to my car, the woman was in the car parked next to me. She rolled her window down and asked me what happened with my order. I told her. She went on to tell me that they'd botched her order 2 times - and she actually made it home with the food each time and had to come back. The first time, they messed up the order. Second time, they left something out of the bag and she didn't notice until she got home. The food is good, so they're very busy. They're now sacrificing quality control and customer service to keep up with volume. Overall I'm sure they'll be happy to hear that I'm giving up on LaParrilla ... at least for a year or two. read more

40 years ago, I had Chile Relleno at a Mexican restaurant in Greenville, SC. Best I'd ever had. Even took my wife by the place to see what she thought. Complete agreement, Ever since then, I've ordered Chile relleno at every Mexican restaurant I tried. Bad, bad, bad. Too cheesy, gloopy sauce, over cooked Chile, etc, etc. Did I mention that they were bad? Anyhow, we go out to eat at La Parrilla. Now I've lived here now for 30+ years. and have eaten at La Parrilla numerous times. I don't know if I never ordered the Chile relleno (hard to believe) or they changed their recipe, but the one I had yesterday was as good as the ones I remembered all those years ago. Did the meat (brisket) make a difference? I don't know, but it was excellent! When other restaurants are watching their quality go down hill, I applaud you guys. Racist!!! Bartender Arturo discriminates. I came in and received a call. Sitting at the bar, the only Black person at the bar. He came out and served the other 2 parties and completely ignored me. I said excuse me over and over and he ignored me. Another bartender came out and asked me what I wanted to order but I was so shocked and disgusted, I asked am I welcome here. Explained what happened and this bartender walked away. Arturo stated that he didn't ignore me but he didn't acknowledge me because I was on the phone. I stated to him that doesn't matter and that I even attempted to get his attention and was ignored. He then replied "well are you going to stay on the phone or are you going to place an order" he was very very nasty in the way he spoke To me. I spoke to the Manager who only stated he will review the cameras and gave me a business card apparently to call corporate but all I get when I call is a voicemail. I have been in this restaurant a few times and this is my first time crossing paths with Arturo and my first time being treated so poorly. I usually frequent the Howell Mill location but I recently moved to Powder Springs. I will never support this business again while Arturo is employed. The fact that La Parilla is okay with their employees treating their loyal customers this way is absurd. I will happily take my business elsewhere and I will definitely spread the word on how African Americans are treated and unwelcomed by Arturo. read more

We love the ambiance, staff, energy and food of our local La Parrilla. I always get the Chicken Tinga tacos and mentioned to the bartender how nice the salsa was that came with the chips (it was spicy) which it normally isn't ( I typically ask for de Arbol that's seriously diesel hot and didn't need to. I got the corn tortillas with my Tinga Tacos (I think they were flour before) and what a difference! Let me start by saying we normally like La Parilla. The food is consistently pretty good, and we never walk away hungry because the serving sizes are large. The chips are good, and I really like their cheese dip. However, last night's experience left a little to be desired. We made the mistake of having a party of 6 on a Saturday night. Two of our group even got there early to get our name on the waiting list. But, alas, we still waited almost an hour to get seated even though there was an empty table available. we were patient realizing that maybe they didn't have a server for that table. (Fortunately we like each other and spent our time chatting.) Finally, one of our party asked about that table and we got seated. (I don't think the host was very happy about seating us.). Our server got our drink orders and then we had to flag her down to order. (Again, not sure she was thrilled at having our table to serve. I promise we were nice and not being demanding.) We got our food - consistently pretty good. Our chips were from the end of the batch as most were small pieces. After spending $20 per person (including tip), and over two hours there, we left. I had to come home and wash all my clothes - the reek of the restaurant and food aroma had permeated every fiber and my hair. It was just too much. I don't think I'll be going back until it's warmer and I can sit outside, if I go back at all. I know this is a popular place, but I was not impressed. read more

Since the re-do a few years ago we had really felt like this location of La Parrilla, or LP as we lovingly called it had lost its charm, speedy service and overall awesomeness.......we went from weekly to monthly to just sporadic visits. Today my daughter was craving La Parrilla. We both said we felt like we got the old LP back tonight. We arrived about 6:30. It was busy but not overwhelming. We had a cheese dip, and I had a margarita (on special!!! 7.99 for a 20 oz), and our two dinners. We stuck with our all time favorites. A number 5 (cheese enchiladas) for her and a 23 (all beef, hard taco) for me. Both were quite good. Drinks arrived quickly, then cheese dip, and as soon as we were done....our food was there. The only reason I can't give it 5 stars is that their dip isn't hot enough. I think it's probably because US folks like their heat in Mexican food toned down. I'd prefer they err on the side of being too hot than to "americanized". Love this place. The décor is amazing. The service is super friendly. They make excellent margaritas too! I've been coming to this establishment for 15 years since moving to the area. There are Mexican restaurants on every corner it seems but the food here is the best for Americanized Mexican fare. I say this because I read a review comparing the food to mall food which I thought was a bit exaggerated unless you are expecting Authentic Mexican street food. I have been to Mexico and even Costa Rica several times and I am a Ga transplanted Texan. The food is pretty darn good and the drinks are stout. I had two beef tacos and charro beans for lunch today with some pick, thin chips and salsa. I also had a pomegranate margarita which was awesome and not even half of which gave me a little buzz. Beautiful restaurant and always clean with friendly wait staff. Yes there is a wait time on weekends but that tells you people are very very willing to wait for a pleasant dining experience. There have been times the order wasn't right but they are always eager to correct it and the management will apologize personally usually. Just the atmosphere and friendly wait staff and management are worth coming here but they have the best chips and salsa and their prices are great as well. read more

The 3 of us ordered nachos, chili relleno and taquitos. Nachos OK, taquitos so-so my wife was not impressed and the chilis were terrible! Barely edible. Never roasted the chilis before the batter and were hard as a rock. Granted not an easy dish to make but if offering on menu GOD at least roast the chilis. I came here for lunch and I ordered the Super Enchiladas "Yummy" and it was just okay. It comes with one ground beef, one seasoned shredded chicken and one Mexi-beans enchilada covered with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and diced tomatoes. The ground beef needed seasoning and the bean enchilada was tasteless. The only enchilada I liked was the shredded chicken and had the most taste of them all. It would be my opinion that this is not an honest establishment where you get what you order. If you're having a top shelf margarita be sure to see it made. The bartender I had named Luis made my drink with the wrong ingredients (on purpose bc he then went on to lie about it after I witnessed him make the drink). Any honest mistake would gave been handled by saying yes I made a mistake et al. The manager handled this poorly, and did nothing about. No comping the drink, no true acknowledgement that the bartender and/or the establishment was wrong and he/they were sorry. No nothing. Revenge is sweet. They never get my money. I would suggest you never give them yours. Any bartender who does that once does that often. And let's be real here about the food. It's certainly not horrible but it's also nothing to write home about. Go somewhere else. Go support an honest restaurant. This one sure isn't. read more

I am a die hard Mexican food fan and typically a big la Parrilla fan but this location just doesn't cut it in the customer service aspect. We come EVERY Thursday night (closest to the house and best Mexican food around) but the hostesses seem to never know what's going on and most servers we've had are subpar. They either take forever to come to the table, mix up orders, not friendly, etc. BUT I do have to give props to the woman manager who picks up a lot of her staffs slack (YOU GO GIRL) and the tall white boy (Brendan maybe?) who is funny, personable, and always on top of things. We still come back every Thursday but just hit or miss with service. Would recommend just hope for a good server. read more
