    $45 for two pastas
    Tushita H.

I was really looking forward to this place but ultimately left disappointed! The good: the spinach tagliatelle was fresh, the Alfredo sauce paired with the Parmesan wheel was yummy (despite the temperature, see below) and I liked the bread. Their branding is cute too! The bad: our order was incorrect and everything was lukewarm; the chicken was ice cold. The chicken was supposed to go with the creamy vodka crestepasta, not the Alfredo. My partner just moved it onto his but it could've been a bigger deal if I were vegetarian! I also think the prices are a bit steep for food court pasta: this photo is $45 (!) worth of food. I didn't find the portion lacking in terms of hunger (not sure that's $3 worth of chicken though) but yeah, just kind of steep considering the overall environment + cold food. The employee taking our order seemed a little confused by some requests/questions, although he was nice enough. Hopefully these are just opening pains and they'll improve in the coming weeks!

La Pasta is located at the food court inside Los Cerritos Center aka Cerritos Mall. The ordering process seemed simple and easy, with a 3 step process to build your pasta: sauce, pasta, and protein. I added the cheese wheel toss for an extra $5 for my butter noodle, tagliatelle, and chicken which also had Parmesan cheese and parsley on top. The butter noodles were a bit dry (half star off ) and therefore the creaminess was certainly not there, however with the cheese wheel toss, you would think it would have been a little bit creamier (half star off). The staff didn't seem too helpful on what to order as far as what would be recommended for a first time customer (half star off). I also ordered a strawberry cream soda drink which all in all, the food along with the drink was very filling, so much so that I didn't finish my meal. I think if they had the pasta wheel more visible so we could see the actual cheese wheel toss, it would create better marketing and entice the customers. The cost was also high, not reasonable being that we were eating at a food court inside of a mall (half star off). Otherwise, it wasn't bad, it was just ok. La Pasta would be my 2nd choice if the line at Sbarro is too long. Mangia mangia!

    Great food!!!!

Food was incredible! Just as good as any sit down Italian restaurant, will be returning! Entire staff was super friendly, and in my opinion is the best food in the entire mall!

Could not have been happier. From the moment we walked through the heavy wooden door (fancy!) until we left- the host, the waitress, server, manager and even the owner were amazingly attentive and welcoming. When it's your birthday they put a nice sign at your table and everyone stops by to wish you an amazing bday. They also check in to make sure you're having a good time and enjoying your delicious meal. Now for the food: fresh, al dente and tasty. All adjectives you want running through your mind after the first bitesss. We ordered stuffed mushroom- hot and nicely seasoned. Mushrooms not overcooked and stuffing not overly cheesy. The shrimp linguine another hit with fresh tomatoes and jumbo shrimp with a nice snap. The light seasoning with lots of garlic was just perfect. We also ordered the beef short ribs. My friend said it melted on her mouth and the fresh mash potatoes- just right. Did I mention the portions were huge! Lots of goodies to take with us. To add to the dining experience we watched as patrons steadily came and went throughout the evening. You can tell this is a favorite for many. There were High-5s, handshakes and lots of "Welcome back friends!" Just an overall beautifully decked out neighborhood restaurant with so much heart and soul. I heard that the restaurant has been handed down from their grandparents... I'm sure they would be very proud. Highly recommend.

The meal started out well with the Caprese, which was actually good. Next came our entree, the carbonara was even worse and by far the biggest disappointment of the meal--the pasta was so overcooked that the sauce completely dried up and turned into scrambled eggs. The "poached egg" on top was also completely well-done, so it literally felt like eating boiled eggs with dry, bland pasta. After that, they brought out our other appetizer, the stuffed mushrooms, which were also noticeably under-seasoned. Finally, the pizza arrived, which was decent, but it's pretty hard to mess up a pizza. The service just made everything worse. Our server told us right at the beginning that sourdough bread was coming out, but it never arrived--we only realized it after we paid the check. Our water glasses were never refilled once throughout our stay. To top it off, when the desserts were brought out, our server just dropped them in the middle of our large table without giving us any small plates and completely disappeared. Because we were seated at the large table, it was really awkward for everyone to reach and share. Since our server was nowhere to be found, we actually had to flag down a completely different server just to get small plates. Our original server only finally resurfaced when we asked for the check. Between the bland food and the total lack of basic service, we definitely won't be coming back.

From my first outreach, Adriana was very responsive and helpful. We reserved the date and time, and then Adriana helped us decide on a menu which included appetizers, pasta dishes, salad, meatballs, dessert and more. They also offered a full bar for the luncheon. We were able to do all the planning, etc. over the phone. The day of the luncheon, we arrived early and were greeted by Christian who was our main contact. He brought two extra tables into the room so we could set up photo displays, and quickly and seamlessly reacted when our headcount went from 30 people to 36 just minutes before guests were scheduled to arrive. In addition to Christian, Benji and Alondra ensured the comfort of our guests by offering drinks, refills, quick clean-up of table settings as we moved to the next meal offering, and many other kindnesses. Our guests commented not only on the beautiful room and the food, but on the friendliness and professionalism of the crew. A'Roma's private room is beautiful, and the afternoon was truly amazing. What a great place and a great way to celebrate the life of our mother. A BIG "thank you!" from my family to Adriana, Christian, Benji, Alondra, and the entire kitchen team.

Located in the same space at Bakers and Baristas, the restaurant was flipped into Luka in the evening hours. Dimly lit for a romantic vibe, the ambiance was warm yet approachable. What initially drew me to Luka was seeing photos of their Chicken Liver Mousse! The mousse itself is rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious! It comes on a croissant with a seasonal fruit compote (ours was blueberry). It's also so gorgeous! A dish that truly tasted as good as it looks. The next dish we had was the Grilled Oyster Mushrooms. These completely blew us away! Something about the use of agrodolce, garlic, fennel pollen, chili powder, and red harissa made the flavor so savory and complex. I've never had mushrooms prepared in this way before. I will really miss these! We also had the Brussel Sprouts with pork jus glaze, chicharron, scallion, and fresno. I really enjoyed the different textures from the ingredients, including the crunch from the chicharrons. We had to get one of their signature dishes, the Potato Situation! Crispy on the outside with potato and melted provolone on the inside, they give a very generous portion of parmigiano reggiano and chive dust on top. Such a fun dish to cut into! For our last dish, we got the Crab Pasta. It came with fusilli, a rich cream sauce, capers, and calabrian toasted panko--a great ending to the meal! I really enjoyed my meal here and hope that there will be plans to open up Luka again one day!

Portion sizes for both were bigger than expected, which was a pleasant surprise. If you're not that hungry, the appetizers here are sort of filling. As for the crab pasta: I liked it, but it's filled in with mainly shredded crab. I ended up taking it home and adding some frozen lobster tail, and that made it feel a tad more complete. Overall: Great for a casual but chic dinner.
