Stopped on a Sunday afternoon. Walked into a wonderful space with social distancing tables and the smell of fresh bread. We're seated immediately and our drink orders taken. Brought out fresh bread to go with our hummus we purchased, which was delicious!! Had spicy chicken wrap and was flavorful and huge portion. My dining partners salad was also wonderful. Service was a bit slow BUT the place was busy and the waitresses were constantly moving and very friendly. We will return again. A must visit!! read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed LaPita before now! I really enjoy it every time. :) We went again last week while a friend was visiting from out of town. He said it's difficult to get good Middle Eastern food in his part of Texas. Ya think? We didn't bother ordering anything for our toddler, knowing she'd love the hummus and bread. We were very right. I had the Shish Kabob and requested the lamb medium, as the menu said the chef suggested. It was fantastic, and I ate all but one piece of it - this is remarkable for me! Of course I hadn't even taken it easy on the hummus before my meal arrived either. Not many restaurants inspire me to eat until I'm almost uncomfortably full, but LaPita can. And now that I've given it this much thought, I'm ready to go back again :) read more

Usually have had pretty decent experiences here. I used to take out-of-towners here for a sort of intro to Middle Eastern food in a pinch since it's close, but I probably won't anymore. Ordered two chicken shawarma sandwiches for dine-in lunch yesterday. Took a bite into one of them and it was pasty, tasteless and overcooked. Bit into the other to see if it was the same, and it was. Sent them back uneaten and asked for beef instead, which wasn't much of an improvement since it was a similar gritty, pasty texture, which I had so far never experienced at a Middle Eastern restaurant in Dearborn before. At least, not to the extent worthy of a negative review. So it made me think - if they're messing up the basic menu items like that, what else is going on? Service was friendly and decent, however. This restaurant used to be so good. I was very disappointed with the flavors. It seems their recipes have changed? The vegetarian grape leaves tasted like canned stewed tomatoes. They used to be my favorite. The pita sandwiches arrived and did not have the ingredients that the menu read. Sad to see an old favorite taste so unfamiliar. Tried to give them a second chance. I love this place! It is one of my favorite restaurants in Dearborn. The service here is wonderful! We usually get seated in a reasonable amount of time, even if it's very busy. The hostess actually came over and made sure everything was delicious. At one point, even though my friend didn't mention that she didn't like a certain ingredient in the food, she just was not expecting it to be in the dish, the hostess said right away that it can be remade for her, though my friend was okay with meal as is. Please be aware, that even though people may say the food is a little bit pricey, you get a boatload of food! Not to mention that the bread and olive oil is to die for! I also love the ambience of the restaurant. It's beautifully decorated and I would say a very nice place to bring special someone. I heard somewhere that on Friday nights or the weekends in general, that this place has live entertainment and it's more of a club atmosphere. I think my review got deleted. I went here and the service was alright it took a LONG time to get the food then our waitress was nowhere to be found:)))) We still left a tip on our table!!! Cash!! When we got to the check out at the cashier so we can pay our bill (because like I was saying our waitress wasn't coming to our table), we didn't leave a tip since we had already left one on the table. Absolutely baffled at La Pita last night. Came here for a birthday party for a friend's son, and the party was planned nicely. Really cute decor and just a lovely group of people. A little congested of a banquet or party hall but none the less we found our tables and seating perfectly fine. We ended up getting food served right away, meat stuffed kibee, vegetable samosas and fattoush seemed to arrive along with hummus for appetizers. The Kibbee was delicious, and the samosa was pretty good too, stuff with potatoes, carrots and peas. The fattoush was magical, I havent had it in so long so that was refreshing. However when the main course arrived which was lamb biriyani? Or lamb rice, and lemon chicken, absolutely the dryest meats I hav ever been served. So extremely dry at one point I was really question whether I could down it at all. Flavorless lamb and the rice however flavorful and cooked to perfection, the chicken's sauce was bland and the meat all cardboard. I asked a friend for recommendations for Dearborn and this is what she told me. I like how there is a private lot so I don't have to worry about finding parking or even paying for parking. The place is pretty big and there is outdoor seating too. The place is pretty dim and has a middle eastern feel to it. It kind of reminds me of the Aladdin movies. Anyway, we arrived around 9pm and was given a booth that is usually for 4. I love when that happens. We ordered the Beef Kabob * ~ Beef tenderloin charbroiled to taste ~ 18 and Shish Kabob * ~ Lamb tenderloin charbroiled to taste ~ 18 You get a choice of soup which most of them were a bit Americanized. They were good though. I got rice and my boyfriend got fries. Definitely go for the rice! The lamb was better than the beef. Also if you love garlic, ask for the garlic sauce! OMG so good! They also give you a bunch of pita to enjoy your food with. Great deal for the amount of food you get. We should have just ordered one entree to share. We both ended up getting boxes. When I first moved to Michigan from another Midwestern state, I didn't know anything about Middle Eastern food. I started off with a then-famous, now-disgraced place in downtown West Dearborn and immediately loved the genre and all of its complex flavors. I feel like my first trip to La Pita (probably ~10 years ago now?) was when I finally grew up and joined the big boy table. La Pita combines: A gigantic floor plan that somehow manages to feel cozy in every room (which means it's GREAT for large groups, birthdays, going away parties, etc). Excellent, professional and welcoming service. Delicious food that is consistent every single visit. And a value that's hard to beat. If you care about my opinion, the La Pita Mixed Grill and the Shawarma Platter are among the best meals you can get in Southeast Michigan. I love the fried kibbeh appetizer, and their baba ghanoush is the region's best. Their bread, always fresh out of the oven, is an approximation of perfect. The fruit smoothies / drinks are delicious. Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of their hummous - it's a bit bland and could use some more pizazz. There is only one place in Dearborn that has food that matches La Pita, and unfortunately they can't match the quality of service, fun, and class that this place exudes. read more

Pre Pandemic La Pita is a family fav-we often do carry out Friday's and this is one of our go to places (although we don't live close by my husband grabs it on his way home from work). Sourcing family dinners with safe pick up options has been my job the past few weeks so of course La Pita was one of my first go-to places. We often order the combo platter for 2 or party platters because you can feed multiple people for a few days. Our FAVORITE item is the BABA GHANNOUGGE yum, yum, yum. We went to the Henry Ford Museum and we're looking for a place to eat that was Weight Watcher friendly. The picture of this restaurant looked inviting, so we decided to try it out. The food was excellent. The hummus was tasty. You could really taste the sesame. Pita bread was made fresh in house. So soft and yummy. Portions are huge. My wife and I split the La Pita combo plate and couldn't finish it. Our friend ordered a veggie combo plate. The food was excellent. Quite possibly my favorite Middle Eastern joint in terms of ambiance in the D. I've come here numerous times for lunch/dinner, but I'm just now giving a review. AMBIANCE- this place is pretty classy. It's dark inside, but still has a pretty "warm" vibe to it. Clearly not a "hole in the wall" I feel like this may be the pinnacle of what Middle Eastern restaurants should aim for. In the summer they have outdoor seating and it's a chill environment. SERVICE- depending on when you go, this can be hit or miss. Lunch can be really slow, but that's primarily because they get super busy on any given day. Dinner is not as bad, but again, depending on what day and the weather, you may or may not wait for a hot minute. For the most part the servers are friendly, though you can tell they can get frustrated when it's super busy. MENU- They got it all. Sandwiches, shwarmas, kabobs, combos, raw juice, smoothies, etc.... If I'm not mistaken they do hookah in the back on certain nights as well. I'd be surprised if there were a specific Middle Eastern dish you couldn't find here (short of desserts, but you can always go to Shatila for that). FOOD- considering how "ritzy" this place is compared to other joints, the prices are right in line with the area, and the food is great. Is it the best.... perhaps certain dishes, but I have never had a bad meal here (and I've had a fair amount of food here (shwarmas, super falafel, kafta, lamb kabob). I do love their garlic sauce, even if they do charge for it (some places just give it to you for free). OVERALL- cannot go wrong with this place. Went here for lunch on the way from one place to another. Nicely decorated although odd entrance, which feels a bit bottlenecked at the entrance. It's 'classy' with table cloths etc. Wait staff is prompt and friendly with warm pita and pita chips. I opted for a lunch special of chicken schwarma. On a big square plate for just $13 (?) right around that- I received rice, salad, big portion of chicken, hummus, and garlic sauce. I couldn't finish it. Should have taken some home but wasn't sure how leftovers would fair in the car. Waitress recommended a "lighter" plate upon my return. Lunch service was quick, polite, and responsive. A friend and I lunch often in Dearborn, but the last couple of times we went to LaPita (2+ years ago) she was disgusted by the hookah smoke (both inside and on the patio). I continued to go occasionally (2x a year) with my husband, and recently joined their "Loyalty Club" which gives you 15% off one day each week. I convinced my friend to give it another try, so we went for lunch. We are both vegetarians and were intrigued by their veggie specials. We were seated promptly on the patio; and greeted by our server. I immediately told her we had the Loyalty Club, and showed her the text on my phone. We asked about the specials, and she said "okra stew and chicken". We asked the price, and she said "ten something". We ordered a carafe of wine to split, and when it arrived, it was about 1/2 full. There was a distinct line where it should have been filled to, so I asked the server. I have ordered the carafe several times in the past, and it has always been full to the line. The server said "the manager said it's right" .... strange, they had to ask the manager how to pour a carafe? So, we got about 1 1/2 glasses each for $25 house wine. We split a vegetarian meal, and the food was fine. Simple baba, hummus, rice, bread...nothing complicated. When the bill came, the discount was not applied, so of course, I pointed this out. The server said she needed the code from the text and my phone number, which I provided. She returned saying that the discount never applies Thursdays, only Wednesdays. (I know that to be untrue, based on the texts I receive every week from them) It seems they would give us the measly $2.00 we would have saved just to make a customer happy.... As we left, we were heckled by the server and the bus boy; likely due to the poor tip we left. Unfortunately, yet another Dearborn restaurant we will cross off our list. This place is magic. So I randomly choose this off yelp after our day at Henry Ford and I had no idea it'd be a full size restaurant. The decor of the place is really fun! They kept bringing us these small super fresh and warm little pitas and well seasoned pita chips. We were ravenous, and they kept bringing us more! Try not to eat too much though as you need to make room for the main course. I got the chicken kafta lunch special. Yummy pieces of chicken, with a side of rice, garlic sauce, hummus, and a house salad. A word to the wise, the garlic is potent! Came here for the first time this past Saturday for my birthday and it was a blast! Great crowd and awesome entertainment! Singers and drummers were on point! I loved how they switched from English and Arabic music! I have not been in this restaurant for years but I decided to go there for dinner with family. The atmosphere was cold literally, euphemistically, and in reality. The waitress came in, did not introduce herself or state her name so we did not feel we were welcomed. She was not that warm or fiendly. I guess they have a lot of business so they don't care much about pleasantries. She was always in a hurry, even when she came back after a long while to check on us, her insincere "how's every thing" was unceremoniously uttered in haste and without the intention to listen. That was evident because even before we say "fine", she had already left the table. I ordered Chicken Ghalaba. I know Ghalaba and the whole Middle Eastern food that I experienced all my life. But that Ghalaba was not real Ghalaba. It did not have the right authentic flavor and it was dry. It tasted like a bunch of boiled rice and some vegetables without adding salt or spices. I tried to talk to her when she would briefly come back but she would leave so quickly I never got the chance. I had to eat my meal because I was starving after long hours of walking in the mall. My son's spicy chicken also had no taste at all. When the waitress brought in the check, again she was in a hurry and said she will be right back. "Right back" took a long time. Finally, I told her about my Ghalaba as we were taking the credit card back. I said, "for future reference just a note to the chef, please tell him that this Ghalaba was not a real McCoy at all and I only ate it because I was hungry". She made a bogus sympathetic gesture and said I wish you had told me earlier (yeah right!). I did not want to be rude and tell her you never gave me the opportunity. I called for her once when she was close to our table but she did not look our way. Despite my complaint about the food that was it. That's all the reaction form her! No manager came in to check on us after the complaint and get more information and apologize for the inconvenience like other prestigious restaurants, since we are customers who could give him repeated business and just to make sure he doesn't get bad reviews. I don't way, to be fair maybe the unnamed waitress did not bring this to his attention. Either way this was a lousy customer service. The waitress did not even made any effort to show her attentiveness or concern or take the initiative to rectify the situation. Overall, this restaurant is decorated very well inside with booths and curtains, but the owner(s) need to focus more on customer satisfaction and this customer was not happy at all with this dining experience. For this reason, I am not really interested in frequenting this eatery any more. read more

The hommous with pita bread is the best way to begin any meal at La Pita, located just one block south of Michigan Avenue in Dearborn, Michigan. The menu of Meditteranean and Middle Eastern dishes include fresh, crisp salads like traditional Middle Eastern fattouch and tabbouli. My recommendation is the almond rice salad. The portion is large and very filling. Of course, there are pita sandwiches, such as my favorite chicken shawarma, and entrees like grape leaves, shawarma platters, kabobs and seafood. There are also several appetizing vegetarian options and deliciously healthy fruit smoothies. Everything I've ever eaten here has tasted great from the chicken shawarma to the french fries. The restaurant also has a banquet facility, offers catering and offers carry out. The only downside to carry out is that the hommous is best with the fresh fluffly pita bread served in the restaurant. I grew up in the area and always try to get back to La Pita for a meal when I'm visiting my parents. I've never had a bad meal here. I usually order the chicken with hummus and the fattoush salad. They also offer a delicious garlic sauce with homemade bread. The service is decent. Don't usually have to wait too long for food and the servers are usually pretty friendly. I do think some of the entrees are a bit pricey, especially compared to similar restaurants in the area, but i still enjoy eating here. read more

I think the ambiance is beautiful and the menus are very high end. I am actually a little surprised that they use paper napkins considering how high end the restaurant appears to be. I had the Fattoush and Hummos and wasn't too impressed, as the salad barely had any veggies nor did it have sumac. The hummos tastes as though all they did was purée the chickpeas and didn't add any flavor or garlic. I give three stars for the ambience and service. I ordered the vegetarian plate as I was really hungry. The hummous was wonderful, light and creamy with plenty of hot, fresh pita. I was very disappointed in the falafel, it was tough, grainy and did not taste fresh. I asked the waitress and she said they "pre-prep" the falafel but she would bring me more. The replacement was much better, crispy outside, creamy flavorful inside. I found out later that if you don't specify "fresh made falafel" you get stuff they make in the morning and heat up again to order, nasty! The fattoush salad was good and service was quick. I love middle eastern food.. I tried this place a couple years ago and didn't really like it. I decided to give it another try recently and I really didn't enjoy it this time as well. Maybe I came at the wrong time but the meat was literally not cooked all the way. For my BBQ I love when it's medium well. We weren't asked how we wanted it which is okay but it literally came out medium rare if not rare. I don't mind it but if you're going to serve someone meat at least make sure it's cooked throughly. Beautiful interior, friendly service. We liked our shish tawook, fresh bread, and hummus. Potatoes and carrots were undercooked and practically raw. The herb potato side was also bland. The only other veg was some zucchini and a ton of cooked green pepper. This is the only middle eastern restaurant my friend and I have ever been to where they pre-mix onion into all of the salads, so you cannot order it without onion. No go for both of us. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. So much so that it was the first place I close to eat when I came home for the holidays. Unfortunately the food was a major disappointment. I ordered the deboned chicken with grilled veggies and rice. The chicken was overcooked and dry. In fact, it was literally burnt. The food came out cold. Cold.dry.burnt.chicken. Let that sink in. The garlic sauce which used to be really spicy was just meh. I didn't either to send it back. I doubt I'll ever return. The only thing worse than the food was the service.
