A tiny restaurant that has seating at the counter where you can watch them make your tortas. It was a bit difficult to talk to friends sideways, but there is also seating outside. I love the Hawaiiana that I got. Very cheesy, just how I like it. There aren't that many pineapples though. More would be even better! Also got chips with queso. Free street parking!

This corner place with a nice view of Downtown has a simple yet super satisfying offering of great Mexican street style tortas and sides . We tried the Chorizo, the Merida, and the Hawaiian pork tortas, two quesadillas, and their unique fries with cotija cheese served with two house dips and salty greens. Delicious, well priced, and perfect for lunch. Especially if you seat outdoors. I will certainly make it back to try their street corn since they had ran out of it when we got there.

Got a pork taco and it was delicious! Quick and friendly service, what more can you ask for? Next time I'll have to try a torta - they look so good.

Yum...thats all I can say. We've been eyeing this place for a while now, and finally made it in on a Friday evening. When we walked in, all the indoor seats were taken, but luckily, by the time our food was ready, 2 opened up for us. If you plan on going at a busy time in the summer, be prepared to sit outside or potentially wait for a seat (there are only 6-8 bar seats indoors). It can be a bit confusing since half the menu is on the wall and half is in front of your on the counter but once you have it figured out, everything is smooth sailing. We ordered La Tejana Torta and the Barbacoa taco, along with the guacamole. Although everything was great, the guacamole is what really stood out. It is definitely not your run of the mill guac. I'm not sure what they do it it, but it was dreamy. The torta is massive! You don't need fries unless you are shareing it. The taco is on a small tortilla but is stuffed to the brim with meat. Between the three items, my wife and I left quite satisfied. I know I will be back to try that elote some time soon!

Wow, great stuff. Nice people, and the La Plancha torta with fries was very good. The street corn is top notch. Reasonably comfortable bar seating but I would love to sit outside when the weather cools down. I will definitely be back to try more options and I would like to do breakfast or brunch there next. Easy parking, great find!

Food is amazing, and this is my second time here. Ordered the chorizo torta and absolutely love it - very cheesy. Service is great as well, price is very reasonable. Will definitely come back again!

Expect more of a clean, slightly fancier Tex-Mex place with pricier items, and not the local, authentic hole in the wall with a lot of cheap options and big greasy portions. The tortas were good and were exactly as described on the menu. The bread was toasted yet fluffy and the guac had good flavor. I got the vegan burger, which had good texture but was light on the flavor. The chips were just okay and reminded me a bit of doritos. There's not much seating inside, but fortunately it was nice to sit outside today. I expected more for the price, but it came out to be okay. Overall, the experience was fine. I don't think I'll be back since I like more of the authentic vibes for Tex-Mex.

Yes, yes, yes. Highly recommend! Met my friend here for lunch and we were both pleasantly impressed with the food. It wasn't too far from UT campus - definitely should drive. There is a to-go window and you can order ahead. There is some seating outside and a little bar area with seating that overlooks the small kitchen. It is a family business and the staff were very sweet. The sandwich was my favorite and I would order it again in a heartbeat

While visiting Austin for the weekend, my friends and I had lunch at La Plancha. We found street parking not too far away. The restaurant inside is quite small and doesn't have a bathroom. They have patio seating and there is a restroom just around the corner. I got the barbacoa tacos and carnitas tacos. The barbacoa was soo good and once I put the green sauce on, it just made it even better! The carnitas tacos was underwhelming and dry. The elote and the papas fritas were really good! We all enjoyed our food!

Super friendly staff in this small but mighty restaurant!! Just some bar seating and outside patio seating, so we sat at the bar which had a great view of the grill. Some other reviewers said this place was expensive, and while the tacos ARE on the higher side, the tortas are GREAT value!! Their huge so you can easily cut them in half and take the other half for a later meal. The food overall was good: the queso was some of the BEST yellow queso I've had here in Austin! Yum! We got the carnitas taco (which had moist meat that was almost a tiny bit sweet) and the pambazo torta with chorizo and hash and avocado and much more! I would like to come back to try another torta without hash/potatoes because it slightly overwhelmed the meat. But the flavors were still great and they use farm fresh eggs cracked right there on the grill. Yum, a great lunch stop after the farmers market on a hot day

I had noticed this little spot when I got my morning coffee and decided I was going to try it out for dinner. I tried La Vegana and it was delicious! The Best vegan torta I have ever had!

The food is good here. But there are a few things I noticed that brought down my rating. The place is popular and small. So parking is on the narrow street wherever you can find it. There are no tables inside the restaurant. There's some very limited seating inside at the counter if you can find a free bar stool (they only have about eight in total). There are only a couple of small tables outside. So you should be prepared when you come that ordering to go may be your only option. The food is a bit pricey for a tiny restaurant with mostly a sandwich menu. I mean, it's not crazy expensive or anything. But, for example, chips and salsa are free in lots of places. Here they're $6. And $15 isn't an outrageous price for a sandwich, but that's a la carte. It's a $19 sandwich if you want fries on the side. My wife had La Brunch Torta with a side is chips and salsa, and I had the brisket sandwich (La Torta) with a side of fries, and we each had one beer. We paid $65 including tax and tip. One guy seated at a table outside came back in and said, "Aren't we getting one more of these sandwiches? We ordered two, right?" The guy behind the counter looked up the order and said, "I have you down for one and I charged you for one." And the customer said, "But we paid $50!" Then he asked for a knife to cut his sandwich in half and share it. We enjoyed our sandwiches. And I usually don't go for crinkle cut fries but these were very good. My only problem with the food was the salsa verde. It may be great most days, because the ingredients seemed fresh and vibrant. But today, the kitchen had vastly over-salted the batch to the point that we could not enjoy it. $6 wasted there. All that said, if I were the owner, I would not reduce the prices here. It's a small place and it fills up. And Yelp just included them on a list of Top 100 Restaurants. Low supply + high demand = high prices. That's just economics. I applaud the owner for his concept, his execution, and his success. But that doesn't mean we plan to return anytime soon.

First off the reservations were pretty open mid-week; I had booked for Tuesday several weeks ahead of time but then had some plans shift and was able to change my reservation to Wednesday just a couple days ahead of time with no issues. We walked in through the front as the back entrance wasn't really obvious from the parking lot (which is quite small), but that was cool as we got to walk by the deli counter and see the meat and pickled veggies etc that were for sale. Our server was great, very helpful in suggesting items, explaining the menu, and answering any questions we had. On her suggestion we started with the sauteed mushroom appetizer but also requested the black garlic butter to be added on the side (I don't think there was an up charge) and this was a great choice! The mushrooms were tender but with a nice bite and super flavorful. We also got the grilled oysters- I forgot exactly what was in the sauce it had miso and something else, but it was so rich and flavorful! I couldn't decide what was the best between the two apps they were both amazing. The husband ordered the antelope over regular fries (as he doesn't like sweet potatoes) which they were happy to accommodate. It was delicious- tender and perfectly cooked with the chive butter on top. I had never had antelope before and found it very pleasant, not very gamey but with a slightly different flavor than beef. I got the quail over grits with a creole sauce and sauteed kale- amazing! It comes with two quail that I think were spatchcocked- the only bones were in the legs and wings so you could eat it easily. The grits were creamy and the sauce with the kale and quail was delicious. I was able to finish my whole meal but was pretty stuffed at the end! Our waitress encouraged us to get a dessert but when we declined brought us out a bowl of chai ice cream to share as she said she wasn't going to let us leave on our anniversary without a treat! All in all a great experience, only complaints are that they don't serve cocktails (there are plenty of local Texas liquors to choose from!) but we did enjoy a glass of wine, and then went next door to Vic and Als after dinner for a dessert cocktail!

Each aspect of the four plates was immaculate. We got the chance to taste the fresno honey whipped goat cheese with almond flour tortilla chips. The slight spice balancing with the sweet honey truly seemed to be a match made in the most plentiful garden anyone could ever witness. My parents got the grass-fed burger and the original fish tacos, while I got the farmhouse breakfast with brioche french toast. The french toast was cooked perfectly; a thick slice with honey butter and the best syrup from any restaurant I have ever had was served. The smashed potatoes in the breakfast were a special treat indeed. Imagine singular potatoes having the mashed potatoes inside. They were crispy and paired wonderful with the sauce. As for the tacos, they are certainly some of the best in the entire world. The burger was worth it on so many levels. It has the classic meat, cheese, sauce, and pickles, but don't be fooled. It on its own deserves five stars. We were amazed without a doubt and would gladly return to Picnik.

To find a restaurant that is gluten free and doesn't use rancid oils to cook food in is an absolute joy. Let me just say, this was everything I've been hoping for the past 12'ish years! The hostess was nice and seated me right away. I was near the pass so I go to see all of the yummy food as it came out. I opted for the Picnik Palmer and the chicken sandwich. I was so happy to see a GF fried chicken sandwich! The bun was great.... It didn't fall apart as so many GF buns do. The smashed potatoes were tasty. The Palmer was refreshing. My server was great. He explained that it was the first day for the new menu and he may not know it all yet. No problem. The restaurant itself was bright and airy. Very chill. I'm sure I'll be back on another work trip to try all the other amazing foods!

The staff were all so professional and apologetic about running late but it was not a problem for us and they actually shared a friend of the kitchen was there before us. I respect they provide that level of hospitality to guests. We were candidly lavished upon with champaign when we sat at the kitchen table. Our server was Christina who has worked there since BS opened. She made our evening very special. And we were kind of blown away when Kevin Cannon, Chef de Cuisine brought us a beautiful dish to celebrate the evening. I'm attaching all the pictures. In my opinion this place is a bargain. This was a fabulous culinary experience and I highly suggest sitting at the kitchen view table to get the full experience of the art and hard work Chef and his team are producing from a place of love for what they do.

The tasting menu is consistently creative, thoughtful, and genuinely fun, making each visit feel like a fresh experience rather than a repeat. There are two upgrades I will never skip: the caviar dish and the uni on top of the shiitake dumplings. They are absolutely to die for and hands-down worth it every single time. The drinks are always on point, creative, delicious, eclectic, and playful, perfectly complementing the menu. Service has been phenomenal on every visit, polished yet warm, which elevates the entire experience. This is an absolute favorite of ours for a kid free date night and one we continue to come back to without hesitation.

We came here for a birthday specifically for the 100 Hour Marinated ribeye for my friend. She had been talking about it for weeks. Unfortunately, the night we came to celebrate, it was not available. She was crushed. I jokingly said "we can go somewhere else". I'm guessing the server thought I was serious because later the chef came to our table and offered her a special treat. It was very nice of them. She ended up with the Redfish special and she liked it. But it was a huge disappointment anticipating this dinner for weeks. My dinner on the other hand exceeded expectations. I had not been here for many years. I don't recall the House-made veggie burger being on the menu previously. I tried it. It was excellent. Brown rice, mushrooms, beets, jack cheese, and other goodies. The avocado basil slather was perfection. It's not easy to find a really good veggie burger these days. So many places try to make them taste like meat. This was a true old school Veggie Burger - such a treat. Our server was attentive and was really great. Drinks were good. Margarita was very tasty.

Even now as it's been Bartlett's for many years, you can still feel some of that Houston's DNA in the atmosphere and menu. The vibe lands somewhere between upscale casual and classic steakhouse. It reminded me a bit of those old-school Steak and Ale-type places. It's a step above casual dining chains like Applebee's or TGI Fridays, but I wouldn't put it in the same category as Austin's highest-end spots like Uchi. It's more of a polished, comfortable place that still feels approachable. The dining room has a warm, almost wine-cellar feel, with exposed brick and fairly low lighting. When we visited on a weeknight it was packed, so I highty recommend making a reservation. The crowd seemed to be a mix of business dinners, client meetings, and people celebrating occasions. We were there for my mom's birthday, which felt like a perfect reason to go. It's the kind of place that works well for a special dinner, a date night, or entertaining clients. Everything we ordered was excellent. The Hickory Smoked Salmon appetizer was a great start, and the French Dip and the Chimichurri Steak Sandwich were worth getting again. They also brought out a dessert for my mom's birthday that everyone at the table enjoyed. Service was friendly and professional throughout the meal.
