A very literal hole in the wall delight! Go to the back of the convenience store and ring the doorbell for service. I got 3 tacos (one chicken, one al pastor, and one barbacoa) to go and they were excellent. The green sauce is wicked spicy but an excellent addition. Inexpensive at $9.50 for 3 tacos and very delicious! I'll be going back.

best tacos in rhode island and I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL (figuratively ofc). i am from california and absolutely live up the stereotypes of being picky about tacos. and i have tried all these spots in rhode island that locals swear up and down by. but nothingggg compared to this spot. i came to buy guava paste and tortillas, and discovered that they have a literal hole in the wall food shop. the servers are the sweetest. there's two cute little tables to sit on and they bring the food out and check on you and bring you extra sauces for no charge and the agua frescas are delightful. i got carne asada tacos the first time and inhaled them before i took a pic. most recently got birria tacos and cried tears of joy. they take card if you check out at the cash register but bring cash to make it easier for them if you can!!!

Given the setting (the back of a tight grocery store) that you're getting the food in, it is definitely five stars and a steal! The same food in a restaurant setting at higher prices would merit a four star review. The torta was probably the best anywhere on the east coast that I've tried so far. The meat in all the dishes was succulent and expertly prepared. The plating was restaurant-level! Everyone who came out of the kitchen to help with our order was friendly and created a home-like atmosphere...which, again, given that you're eating in the back of a grocery store, counts for a lot!

What a treasure this market place is! Everything you can ask for in Latino groceries. But our most wonderful discovery was the small restaurant/ take out tucked away in the back of the store. The food is fresh and flavors so good. We literally could not stop eating, despite being full. It was that good. There is limited seating - only 2 tables. But you can definitely order to go. Very affordable.

Wonderful birria tacos. And the prices are very reasonable too. Came here because of the positive yelp reviews and it didn't disappoint.

Inexpensive decent Mexican food worth trying. Definitely check it out! Dont be fooled by it being a small joint inside a store. :)

Legit hole in the wall Mexican food, hidden in a grocery store. The tacos were comparable to SoCal tacos and the menudo was decent.

The pork belly was very dry, hard, and mostly unpleasant to eat. We split the bisteca lo pobre and it was very good. There's a $5 split plate fee and for that small amount, we got a full second portion of rice, fries, and an extra egg. Well worth it. We sat inside this time and it was fine, albeit a little loud. We would probably ask for outside next time if the weather was nice. The spiced chicha is easily my favorite drink on nearly any menu at a Peruvian restaurant I've been to. I will always go out of my way to get one when I visit Providence.

We had requested outdoor seating, but were instead led to an indoor table in a room that really didn't have much character, and wasn't what we were looking for on a special night. We asked to be moved outdoors, and after a little while a table became available. Outdoors was so much nicer than indoors and we really liked all of the plants and the live music as well. Our server was Joseph and he was really nice - he was probably the best part of our visit to Los Andes. I had heard such great things about this restaurant, but found most of the food to be pretty average compared to other Peruvian restaurants I've been to, and the prices were higher than they should have been. We ordered appetizers, drinks, entrees and a dessert, and all in all, I think Los Andes is overhyped. It was disappointing to have to wait for quite awhile past our reservation time, to not have our request for an outdoor table honored and then have to move, and the food and drinks were not as good as I would have expected them to be given Los Andes' reputation. Glad we went, but now I can cross it off of my list.

Needless to say, it was a disappointing start to what was supposed to be a special family evening. Thankfully, a quick call to Aguardente in Fox Point changed everything. The person who answered explained that they weren't taking reservations that evening, but they did have one outdoor table left if we could make it there in time. Despite the challenges of navigating Providence during the World Cup festivities and the Cape Verde Festival in the Fox Point area, we managed to get to the restaurant and secure that last table. We are incredibly grateful to the staff at Aguardente for helping turn our evening around. Our daughter and son-in-law were hoping to enjoy one last dinner with both families before leaving on Monday for a special assignment in South Carolina, and the unexpected closure of our original restaurant had left everyone feeling frustrated and disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the team at Aguardente made us feel welcome. The food was excellent, the drinks were wonderful, and the service was outstanding. Most importantly, they helped transform what had begun as a stressful evening into a memorable celebration with family. Thank you to everyone at Aguardente for your kindness, hospitality, and professionalism. You made our families smile and created a special memory during an important moment in our lives. We highly recommend Aguardente and look forward to returning. -- A very grateful family

Atmosphere: cute outdoor seating area for summer nights. The inside has cool decor (including a…read morebathroom that apparently won an award??), but is very small and cramped. The upper 'porch' like area looks really fun, but the table we were seated at was so close to the other tables I was uncomfortable. I get that we're in a city, but I value my personal space and privacy and felt like the whole restaurant could hear my every word - ick. Service: our server seemed annoyed that I didn't want an alcoholic drink, and was not very helpful. Half of the menu is not in English (very chaotic how some portions are in English and others are not, it doesn't seem consistent), so we had some questions, such as "what does x taste like?" and the only response we got was "not too sweet"....okay, but what DOES it taste like? She spoke very fast and I couldn't understand her listing off the specials, even though she didn't really have an accent. She left partway through while we were there so I guess she was just at the end of her shift and checked out, but it was so offputting how rude and unhelpful she was. When our servers transitioned, we offered to cash out then since we weren't getting anything else and wanted the original server to get her tips, but she started joking around that we didn't have to do that - which I appreciate, but we actually did want to get going and get cashed out, but she refused to give us our check. I asked three times and she still wouldn't 'let us do that'...very weird. Food: there were not a ton of vegetarian options that appealed to me. I went a little overboard on plantains by accident, which is my mistake. I first ordered the Rellenitos with cilantro crema sauce, which were very good and a flavor combination I wasn't expecting. The dough to filling ratio was a little off and they were pretty dry inside, so I needed a lot of the sauce. An order only came with 2 and I wish it was more. I'm glad I ordered something else - Tula Fries, which came with the same exact cilantro creme sauce as the Rellenitos, even though they are described differently on the menu, which felt lazy to repeat a sauce. The sauce didn't go well with them at all in my opinion so I did not enjoy these as much as I would've liked. My friend enjoyed her drink, but thought almost all of the meat on her meat and cheese board was either low quality or close to going bad. It was priced reasonably, which we were shocked by, but she couldn't eat a good portion of it sadly. We did really enjoy the baked flava bean snack that was a part of it. The board weirdly came with just half of one small, half rotten strawberry that looked terrible - it would've been better to leave it off. Towards the end of the night, there was so much water on the floor in the hallway that goes to the bathroom and passes the kitchen - I had to walk through it to go to the bathroom, which felt like a safety hazard. My friend was on crutches and wouldn't even try to get over there since we knew she'd slip on all the water. It just looked terrible and was dangerous, so not sure what we going on that there was such a water issue there. Their specialties and more meat based dishes are probably great, but there just aren't a ton of things for me to eat here. I'd be willing to try it again for drinks and apps if the service wasn't so unwelcoming.

We found street parking close to the restaurant and that worked well for us. We had about a 25 minute wait before we were seated as we expected. There were tons of people waiting for a table but they have a good system going and we got our table by the promised time. You are first provided complimentary chips with 3 warm dips (black beans and mild and spicy salsa) - they were really good. For appetizers we shared a garnacha and a chicharron and cheese pupusa. Portions were large and they were very tasty. We considered getting one main course to share but since we don't live close by decided to go for 2. This allowed us to have a lot of leftovers - enough for another dinner at home. One entree was aire, mar y tierra - delicious fried fish filet, well seasoned and grilled steak and chicken breast. That came with salad, rice, beans and a side of tortillas. We also had the caldo de marisco (seafood soup) and although not mentioned on the menu, our server mentioned that we could order a medium or large size. That came with a side order of rice. Fantastic soup! Restaurant is very lively and the noise level is high with groups enjoying their meals and having conversations. They have several televisions that were playing soccer games in the background as well as music playing in the background. A very energetic vibe. Another great meal and we will be back again in the future.
