This is a low key restaurant without the flashy flare, however the food is very good, specially if you like Peruvian Ceviche. Every time we go, we start sharing a Causa (all are good - my favorite is shrimp. If this is your first time I recommend the Machupicchu platter. You will be able to try 5 options. Very surprised to see this place have low reviews. Came here with a party of 5 for Valentine's Day and we had a great time. I had the Lomo Saltado a lo Pobre and it was delicious 10/10. Everything was hot and tasted great. Same for the seafood platter. It did take longer than all the other meals but it came out fresh and steaming! We also ordered a pitcher of red sangria and it was great. Not too sweet or bitter. 2 glasses and I was feeling great. Theres always room for improvement. Local Peruvian place, very large inside with classic Hispanic music playing and friendly wait staff. We couldn't decide what to get for appetizer so went with the sample at little over $40, everything were all flavorful, my favorites were the crispy calamari and ceviches. Seafood and fish stew was okay, nothing to write home about as the fish was a bit thin and over done, but the yucca fries were so fresh and crunchy, I could have had a whole plate of that! Mixed grilled Opal was well mixed, the intestine was yummy while the heart tasted over cooked and tough. They sat on top of generous amount of potatoes as well, they were soft and filling. Where to start?! As we all know finding a restaurant with under 30 minute wait on a Saturday with no reservation is unheard of but not only did we get a table but we were sat as soon as we walked in. I went with my family and ordered the ceviche as an appetizer the "salchipapa" ( hotdog pieces and fries) and it came out super quick and can I say the ceviche was amazing! We even ate the lettuce that came on the said with the ceviche sauce. The salchipapa for my son was delicious so much so my fiance started helping him out. For dinner I went with the bistec a lo pobre and my fiancés had tallarines in spicy huancaina sauce along with pineapple juice. Let me tell you we were no disappointed I don't know if it was or not but the juice tasted as if they just freshly juiced it and our meals were amazing. The portion sizes were not skimpy, you get your moneys worth. We made sure to leave room for dessert, we had to go with the tres leches and once again it was delicious. We stopped by Machupicchu with my family a couple of months ago for their Peruvian breakfast. The place is simple, nothing fancy but their team is really welcoming. We ordered some coffee to start with, they have American coffee going around with free refills. Then, we ordered the Peruvians Lurin Breakfast which included, a pork tamale, pieces of pork or chicharrón, fried sweet potatoes, huachana sausage with egg, famous Peruvian salsa de cebolla, and ciabatta bread. So normally, in Peru, you will eat this with French bread but that specific Peruvian style French bread is not easy to find in the USA unless it is made from scratch. You usually will open the bread, fill it with sweet potatoes, then pork on top and onions to the end, then top it up with any spicy sauce if you like something spicy and that's the chicharrón sandwich. The tamale and sausage are extras to complete the plate. Well, breakfast my amazing! Delicious! The platter is good for 2 people to share or even 3 if they don't eat a lot. Also, my uncle ordered a Morcilla sandwich or Sangrecita which is very common in Peru for breakfast and it also comes in the same bread. I'm actually appalled at the fact that I spent $50 on WHITE RICE. in no time in my life have I ever been served such a plate for 25$ that lacked food. It's honestly disrespectful. I tried to call after picking up my food and the line went from ringing and waiting for a response, to disconnected for the night. I found that highly rude and I WILL be at the establishment tomorrow. (This is also after repeating my order to the staff 6 times on the phone to specifically asked for fried chicken and a side of plantains. It's ok. Service, food, ambiance... All ok. Not good, not bad. However, i noticed on my bill last night that they added an 18% service charge to our bill... Which i am guessing was a tip? I understand when restaurants adds a gratuity for large parties, but we were a table for two. It was added right in with the bill and the sales tax (and they included the tax in the calculation for the 18 %, which should not happen-why pay a tip on tax?) The bill then provided a space for tip and signature. The bottom of the bill also provided "suggested tip amounts" based on the figure that includes the additional 18%... For exactly.. Bill +tax+18%=x and suggested tip amounts showed15,18,20 % of x. Why would you suggest the customer pay 18% of a bill that already had 18% added to it? Seemed very odd, it wasn't mentioned anywhere that a gratuity was added to the bill. We did not care for that practice. read more

But the quality was not as good everything was salty, the amount was not the same, the ambiance is cheap diner decor, and the service was horrendous and they added a service charge of 18%. Love this place! It reminds me of Los Andes when they first opened and ypu could get a seat. The food is delicious and very typical of the area. I had a pisco sour to drink and it was perfect. We had the ocopa as an appetizer. It was so different and so delicious. For the meal I had to get steak as that is the specialty of the region. It was marinated and served with an egg and rice and plantains on the dish. So tasty! We tried the calamari but it is not their specialty and we made a wrong choice. For dessert we had their flan and a delightful jellyroll type cake. Both were amazing. The service can get slow when it gets busy but everyone is pleasant and helpful. I would review this place with a resounding "meh." Everything was ok, but the reviews led me to believe that it was going to be amazing, and it just wasn't, guys. Sorry. The interior is nicely decorated and inviting. The menu is very hard to read and has tons of typos. So, we went for "bistec a lo pobre" which is our go-to for Peruvian. I chose tenderloin for mine, and it was not worth the up-charge. I got tiny hunks of meat that were overcooked and NOT tenderloin. I can tell you that much. Very disappointing. The Sangria made us all feel sick too. Not sure what was up with that. Cheap booze, I guess. The bread was good -- distinctly Italian from what I could tell. read more

Just OK We were very excited to eat at this restaurant having been deprived of Peruvian food for months and the first impression was really good. The place has a good size, the servers were nice and attentive and the first dish we order, the Piqueo Machu Picchu was excellent. The chicharron, yuca and anticuchos were delicious with the salsa criolla. Unfortunately the level really dropped when we got to the entrees. The pasta of the tallarines verdes was overcooked and the rice with seafood (arroz con mariscos) had an unnatural, almost neon color and tasted like artificial condiments and frozen shrimp. LOVE LOVE LOVE. This place gives Los Andes a run for it's money! The lomo saltado is consistently great. The flavors they are able to develop in that beef are fantastic and so delicious. I will say if you get it "al pobre" it comes with a fried egg and plantains. I love the plantains that it comes with but the consistency of how they are prepared and cook seems to vary each time I go. Additionally, the fried egg has a weird consistency where it's crispy crunchy on the outside and oozie on the inside. Not my fave. Service is always great, and the food comes out pretty quick. So, i'll forgive the egg and the always packed parking lot, even when there are not many people in the restaurant. :) read more

I tried this establishment for the first time last evening after a friend invited me and wifey out to dinner with his parents. I must admit that I was a bit skeptical after checking out Yelp and reading the reviews of many trustworthy peeps. But I wanted to see my friends' parents and he had been raving about the food so we gave it a shot... ... And I am grateful that we did! We shared appetizers, which included ceviche mixto, ceviche mariscos, and ocupa. As a proud lover of the potatoes, I was excited to see the ocupa (a lovely dished with boiled potato, a mint sauce, and cream). I was not disappointed: the dish was flavorful and portion size was very generous. I had only a little of the ceviche, but my table mates all loved it and agreed they prefer the ceviche at Machu Picchu II to another established just down the street from this place. After an enjoyable appetizer, I was excited for my Salgado de Camorones: shrimp with onions, tomatoes, fried potatoes, and rice. Again, I enjoyed the flavors of my meal and shrimp were cooked perfectly. Though it was a large portion, I could have finished my entree. However, I could not say goodbye to this meal just yet and wanted to have some for today. I really liked this place and thanked my friend for choosing to share this gem with us. He is a true friend indeed! I will certainly return to Machu Picchu II. I enjoyed my cocktail (Coctail de Algorrobina- delightful!) and while the bread was not special, it was warm and pleasing. So back to that place just down the street I briefly mentioned: I enjoy going to Los Andes. I have never encountered a bad meal there and the service is excellent. Oh, how I love the Causa Limena! I will admit that I went to Machu Picchu II eager to compare the two places. One thing that was immediately noticeable was the number of people at the restaurant: we were the only table there on a Thursday night. I was praying that we would not be facing the crowds that Los Andes feed, but I certainly did not expect that we, a table of 7 people, would be the only dine-in eaters for the evening. I got a bit worried upon seeing the rows of empty tables, but by the time our meal was over, I was debating whether to leave a review as I feared that this place would become overcrowded and loud. Then I realized that I can share, just as my friend did. Machu Picchu II is a good restaurant, the prices are reasonable, and the service was decent. I came here when my mother was in town as well as for myself when i had to pick something up nearby for take out that I couldnt wait to eat so I just had some in the car. It's hard driving home when you know you have good food right next to you! I've gotten the lomo saltado, the tallarin verde (green spaghetti) and papa la huancaina. All authentic and great size and delicious here! Staff is quick and friendly. I have heard people come in to order here that dont speak spanish and the staff does well with them. After reading previous reviews, I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, we were all very disappointed. Food just wasn't good overall, & I love Peruvian food. The highlight of the meal was the distinctly Italian bread that was served with three dipping sauces; they were really good. But, things went downhill from there. We ordered their version of calamari; it was ok...nothing special. Hubby & I ordered Bistec a la Pobre; it was advertised as a ribeye, but it definitely wasn't ribeye and was way over-seasoned. Our companions had a tenderloin dish; theirs was under-seasoned and, in their opinion, definitely not a tenderloin. All of our dishes came with plantains; we all love plantations, but these were undercooked, under seasoned, and frankly, gross. I had mine served with fries; very greasy and no salt at all. The rest of them got rice; nothing special. To top off our visit, our waitress kept coming back every couple minutes after we finished to see if we were ready to leave. There were so many open tables, yet even after we paid the bill, she felt the need to keep coming back every couple of minutes and made everybody feel rushed and comfortable. Sadly, I will not return. Maybe it was an off day, but the experience was off-putting enough for me not to want to return. If you go, hopefully you will have a better experience than we did. Like other reviewers have noted, the atmosphere î warm and well lit. I was immediately seated, and my server made several recommendations. Although I speak Spanish, my server's English was excellent. Party of 10 for our birthday party. I waited too long to get a reservation at that other Peruvian place down the street with the ambiance and the long wait times. Not to worry, this place was amazing. I highly recommend it. No one in my group had been there before but everyone liked what they ordered. The plates were large enough for multiple meals. My husband ordered the giant meat plate for $45. He loved all of it. I ordered the beef lomo with the egg and plantains. It was delicious. In fact I think three of us ordered that. The prices are comparable to that of Los Andes but I liked that it wasn't super crowded, had a parking lot and wasn't super dark inside.
