This storied establishment continues its tradition of serving good food, fresh ingredients, and large portions. The staff are friendly and attentive and authentically want you to be satisfied. This is a clean, no frills, unpretentious diner that is not trying to be anything other than exactly that. People come in jeans and T-shirts, Buffalo Bills attire, suits and ties if they happen to be going to the nearby courthouse, factory garb, etc. Come as you are, fancy, ragged, the same satisfying food will be served to you, regardless of your appearance or stature. The coffee cups are refilled regularly. My favorite breakfast is the LaPorts scramble. My wife loves the squash or sweet potato purée as a side. Their garlic toast is my choice instead of the roll. Food great, large serving for price. Served my omelette with toast and jam, which is new to me but I liked it. The veggie omelette didn't have a feta option but it honestly went really great with provolone, the broccoli was a nice crunch touch that made it more interesting. My husband and I decided to take a drive out to Lockport one recent Sunday afternoon for an impromptu kid-free something-to-do. When looking for someplace open to relax and read for a while over a bite to eat, we landed at La Ports. And oh boy, am I so glad we did--La Ports is TOTALLY my kind of greasy-spoon-place!! I love a sweet little diner, and La Ports fits that bill. It isn't a huge space, but there is a decent amount of seating inside: probably six or more booths, another four or five tables in the middle, plus counter seating. Behind the counter is the griddle, where the hard-working line cook is busy whipping up all-day-breakfast and burgers. The menu is your typical diner-wide-array of breakfast, sandwich, soup, salad, appetizer, and entree options, plus daily specials. Most meals are just the item itself, with any sides like fries or salad at add-on à la carte pricing. Prices in general here aren't exactly a steal, but are comparatively reasonable enough. With a meal, side, drink, dessert, and tip, you're looking at about $15 - $20'ish per person. Cut out dessert and sides, and you can of course come in cheaper. We have been in twice now. Both times I stuck to the breakfast menu. I had the Sunday Eggs Benedict special, sans-ham (I am vegetarian), and I went with a cheese and mushroom omelet and hash browns on our second trip. I was pleased with both of my breakfast meals, served hot and fresh, right off the griddle behind the counter. My husband has been pleased with his picks too, going for burgers each time. Everything has been satisfying, especially enjoying it all with a bottomless cup of coffee in the cozy old-school diner space. While our meals have been satisfying, what pushes this review to five full stars is hands-down the homemade in-house apple crumb pie ... my new pick as THE BEST apple pie in the seven-one-six!! First off, the apples are cut in thin, not in fat wedges. Thin-sliced apples stacked and packed densely into a flaky, chewy crust definitely take an apple pie to the next level!! But it wouldn't matter if the pie's flavor profile wasn't on point too ... and WHOA, this pie tastes SUBLIME!! The balance of brown sugar and cinnamon and the gooey crunch of the crumble is all Done. Just. RIGHT!! I would happily--no, ECSTATICALLY come back just for the dutch apple pie and coffee. Throw in a book at a booth on a day off from work, and that sounds like heaven to me!! La Ports has good hours, open for early breakfast through dinner every day, even Sundays. The only tricky elements here are it is CASH ONLY (they do have an ATM). And also it is street parking only that can be tight. You may have to walk a block or so. But it is well worth the walk, and probably a good idea to walk off some of the delicious apple pie anyway. ;-) La Ports is fast becoming one of my favorite local road-trips from the burbs out to Lockport for a nice meal and an exceptional slice of pie in a charming diner with warm and friendly service from a different time. It's an unassuming place that you could easily overlook. Take the time to NOT overlook this local gem! Great local feel with great service. We always come here during breakfast hours. The breakfast always hits the spot and fills you up. The breakfast scrambler is all you need to eat if you might have to skip lunch. Probably the best greasy spoon dive in Lockport! In total we ordered 2 short stacks, 2 OJ's, a Breakfast Scrambler and Sausage Gravy and biscuits and our bill was UNDER $27!! A great price for great food! read more

Found this diner today when looking for a place to grab lunch in Lockport. Definitely a good old fashion local diner. It's been owned by the same family for over 60 years! They have the normal diner variety of items on the menu along with all day breakfast and daily specials. Today I ordered an old favorite that I don't have often, a fried bologna sandwich with grilled peppers and onions on Italian bread, with a side of fries. My husband got the reuben. In the past I've had the bologna on a roll so kinda expected maybe a chunk of Italian bread but instead it came on just 2 slices of regular packaged bread, a bit of a disappointment. Otherwise the sandwich was loaded with peppers and onions and tasted great. The fries were excellent! Nice and crispy and fresh out of the fryer. My husband's sandwich looked good and he finished it off pretty quick and looked like he enjoyed it. I'll go back to try other items on the menu. Maybe the hot turkey sandwich. My husband and I stopped by Lockport to see the locks, afterwards we sought out a place to eat and found most restaurants are closed on Sunday (good for Lockport maintaining this wonderful value), so we stopped in LaPort's dinner and what a great find! The food was delicious! We ordered the Sunday special Turkey dinner. We did the larger order which included two large pieces of turkey breast (about 5 to 6 ounce slices), mashed potatoes, puréed squash, stuffing, chicken noodle soup and turkey gravy. The turkey was moist, the potatoes were very good and the gravy was made from scratch. Everything was delicious. The only thing I would have changed would be to spice up the stuffing with some Italian sausage and add some nutmeg to the squash, otherwise great job! The chicken noodle soup was superb! It was full of celery, onions, carrots, and peas, and the broth was not salty and full of flavor. I'm not a food snob, but I do like farm to table and really good food and this place surpassed my expectations. By the way, don't leave without having some pie; we had the apple crumb with ice cream! Certain meats are from Niagara County. Cash only. No bitcoins or credit cards accepted. One thing for sure, the food smells great. I sat at the counter and watched preparations. I wanted to so many things as I waited for my order, which was expertly prepared. The place is very busy. It is definately "old school" diner style, and the facilities could use an update and a larger dining area. Even if the current facility was done up, this place has a winning combination. Google says it is within 66 feet of the Locust and Main St bus terminal (really a bus stop shelter) and is serviced by routes 44 and 64. Stop ID: 28800 so you can get here from just about anywhere in WNY. You could visit the Lockport Cave or the Locks and make it a little day trip. read more

We have been to this restaurant 4 or 5 times. First let me say the breakfast there was awesome. The dinner time meals is another story. Be very Leary of the chicken. The first time I ordered the fried chicken. When it arrived I bit into it and the center was cold. When I put my finger into it, the whole center was ice cold. Not good. A few weeks later we went back, and this time I ordered the chicken fingers. Once again I ate the edges, but when I got to the center it was all RAW CHICKEN. Not cooked. I called the waitress over and showed her. She said " oh my god". Someone is going to get SERIOUSLY SICK in that place with the chicken. The oil seems to be turned up too high so that the outside almost burns, but the inside is raw. A skinny kid was in the grill. Be very careful if you go to this place. read more

La Ports is one of my favorite breakfast spots on the weekend. It's cash only, which isn't the best and can be inconvenient, but they do have an ATM. It's a bit of an eye sore and could use a makeover, but that may upset the locals who have dined there for years and appreciate the rugged diner look. The prices are extremely reasonable and I love my breakfast every time. The waitresses are exceptional and will offer to fill your coffee cup and check in to make sure your food is good. They certainly won't let you run out of coffee. Although it's a bit of a hole in the wall, you'll be served with a smile and leave with a full belly. read more

Waitresses looked pissed of at the world, and busied herself wiping down a couple of booths, and just ignored me. When she started wiping down the soda machine I'd had enough. My bf is a local and recommended we go here for our Valentine's Day dinner. Well let me tell you that was a big mistake !!! We walked in to see that there were only 2 tables occupied so it wasn't busy at all. We sat ourselves. The diner has an "open" style kitchen so you can see the cook making food. Waitress lady didn't come to us for over 18 minutes!!! I told my bf that I would have left already bc clearly they do not want our business. The girl finally came to us and took our drink order, which were chocolate milkshakes, no biggie right? Wrong. She sighed so deeply and walked off. 12 more mins past I watched her make our milkshakes of which she squirted hardly any chocolate syrup in them and were brought to us with a brown tinge. Didn't taste good at all. We finally got to place an order of the steak dinner for 2. Pretty much All of the sides were gone and we were left with the option of soup/applesauce/home fries/garlic toast. The soup was ICE COLD. The steak was STILL BLEEDING AND TOUGH TO CHEW AND BLAND AF. The home fries were also COLD and flavorless. The applesauce was obviously from a Mott's container. The ONLY thing that tasted OK was the garlic toast. Needless to say I simply couldn't eat anything that was ordered. The bill was under $40 and my bf tipped her well. But honestly my Valentine's Day date was ruined. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. The beef barley soup was a little salty but had a ton of beef in it, so it's nice to know they don't skimp with "the good stuff." I got the tuna melt with a couple revisions (sourdough instead of rye and raw onions instead of cooked) and it was a perfect balance with the soup. LaPort's is a true Lockport gem! The number of people who go there over and over is a testament to that. Good food, great variety of homemade goodness, reasonable prices and a great family run business that has been popular for so many years now. They have always been a huge supporter of the Niagara County 4-H program as well. It's sad that people go somewhere for years and never think to leave a good review for the business until they get one bad meal then are very quick to voice their opinion. Covid made running a restaurant a near impossible task this past year and we should all be grateful that our favorites didn't throw in the towel and close. Before the state shutdown I walked in, stood at the 'wait to be seated' sign for quite awhile, then left. Watch what you eat! I have had a decent meal here but... as good as the menu looks I think not! There was only one booth and one table open when we entered. The very cheerful waitress came and took our drink orders. I had a Pepsi and my wife had orange juice. When she returned, we were ready to order. My wife ordered French toast for 2.95 and I ordered a breakfast sausage sandwich on an English muffin for 4.85 with a side order of home fries for 2.50. One thing I loved about LaPorts was it is an old fashioned diner-type establishment with the cook right behind the counter and you can see everything they do. No hiding in the back room. Reminded me of my days bussing at a Your Host in Williamsville during my high school years. I knew when my meal was on it's way because of this. The meal arrived quickly and was hot off the grill, no heat lamps here. Short order cooks always impressed me how they manage to get everything done at the same time. My sandwich had the thickest sausage patty I have ever had. I understand they get their meats from the Niagara County Fair. My wife's French toast was plain Jane, straight up, French toast without all the razzle dazzle like a dusting of cinnamon or a pile of whipped cream on it. She liked it this way. I love the small, home town atmosphere at LaPorts. Everyone seemed to know someone else there from the staff knowing the regulars to the diners having discussions across several tables. I'm giving it 4 stars solely on the atmosphere alone. Everyone knows everyone and it had such a small town mom and pop feel. One customer came in that everyone called "Pa" I loved this about the place! The food was greasy as previously described but good. They do charge for a lemon wedge and extra drinks so be cautious. The waitress was lovely as were all the staff. They have full sized color books for kids and I think I was able to enjoy my whole meal without kid issues! Loved it here! read more
