Nice store, friendly employees but KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR SURROUNDINGS!! Two Latino males in a small red truck (had work supplies in the back and the red pain was fading on some spots) who are watching female shoppers. One came into the store to look around while standing at the door still and walked right back to the car. My niece was walking with us and they kept their eyes on her and were smirking/talking amongst themselves. (Shes 13!) so please watch your kids and ladies be extra careful. I'm calling the store in the morning to report what happened. I drove by 30 minutes later on my way home to see if they were still there and they were, just sitting there. Just moved to imperial beach and I usually love supporting small local businesses, but I will definitely not be coming back. I bought a few different fruits, put them in the little plastic baggies that are offered and tired knots in them. I did notice that allot of their fruit was either extremely ripe to the point where it was to soft or already bad, but I found the best ones and went to check out. Older Hispanic lady at the register literally ripped open my bags with the fruit, touched each one with hands that had previously been touching money and who knows what else, then proceeded to roll each piece of my fruit along the dirty counter. I literally stood there in disbelief that in a time of a global pandemic, this woman would touch all of my fruit and then roll it along the dirty counter top. She could clearly see the stickers on the fruit for scanning or typing them in the register. Why even offer fruit bags if they will just be ripped open at the counter? I'm mad at myself for not saying something to her at that moment, but I actually was shocked. I will absolutely not be returning. Lastly, there was a crazy amount of flies in the places that I might've been willing to overlook had I had better customer service, but that was just the last nail in the coffin lol read more

Has a pretty decent meat department, great selection of Mexican groceries. Where this place really shines is in the bakery/deli/tortilleria. They have a great selection of hot foods and Fresh tortillas. My very favorite things from here are the shrimp ceviche and fish ceviche, and the Mexican Coca-cola. There are also fresh bakery products like Bolillos, Jalapeno and Cream cheese filled Bolillos, Capirotada, Cheesecake, and all sorts of cookies and donuts and Palmiers, and Conchas, and so on and all of it is 2 for $1. read more

Not really sure whether to love, like, or hate this place. On one hand, it's a good spot to pick up some last minute groceries (onions, jalapeños, tortillas, etc.) It has a good selection of wines, tons of canned products, drinks/juices and beer. The aisles are seriously tiny, so not for the claustrophobic. Their fresh panela cheese was great, but their bolillos were a little stale. I'm sure i'll come again if I ever need a couple produce on the way home, but not for much else. read more

The story begins like this I was on the outskirts of Bonita/Chula Vista getting buzzed at a baby shower and had a early evening BBQ up in Mira Mesa. I asked the man of the house for a good carniceria and recommended that I go here: 13th St and Coronado. So with google maps in hand I plot my way to Imperial Beach. I almost gave up because I'd lost focus and direction while my "bio" brake lights got slammed. I saw a Carls Jr, jumped out inside were two people ahead of me. I waited 30 seconds and then used the "family" room for relief. Now focused, I made my way towards Imperial Beach and to my destination in 15 minutes. La Posta is a geat market for things south of the border. Even though the border is a stones throw away. I came for the quick and dirty version of carne asada. So I ordered up 3 lbs of palomilla and asked the butcher to have it "prepared". When asking for it prepared, they'll weigh the meat, add their own mix of seasonings and reweigh. They also seem to have their own tortilla factory as when I grabbed a stack of corn tortillas were nice and warm! I also purchased some pre-prepared guacamole which was a big hit on the tacos, chips and burgers at the bbq. read more

Was this for real??? I have never experienced flour tortillas so perfect in my life! Never again will I buy them from the rack of prepackaged crap!!!! They are not even the same product! These flour tortillas were steaming hot when i bought them and then we slathered them with butter and ate them with total joy flooding over our souls! Too bad I am on vacation... I will spend every waking hour trying to find out a duplicate recipe so that I can try and create these gems at home! This market ROCKS! read more

Meat department is great. Hot food and variety of fresh salsas is wonderful. The younger cashiers could use alot of training on customer service and how to bag groceries. Handle fruits with care and don't put produce in the same bag as raw meat. Its not rocket science! Management was great at addressing my recent incident with a cashier. I have always appreciated La Posta for their local grocery business, but I was particularly impressed with the quality and professionalism in their food preparation. Not only were they less expensive than other catering options, but my contact at La Posta (Billy) communicated proactively with me about the food, and was generous with serving sizes and offerings. The food was fabulous - everyone at the party raved. The tacos were fresh the moment I arrived to pick up the food, and Billy even reached out after the party to make sure everyone was happy. I love this place. Great establishment for my hometown. I'm giving it 5 stars cause I support local businesses that proved to me they deserve it. So this hurts me to leave a complaint that I can't shake. I've heard about their $4.99 1/2 pound Burger combo for a long while. Heard it's a really good burger . Many of close friends told me to give it a shot. I drove my butt down to La posta to try it out. ( I'm really lazy and hate doing things) so I really have to be motivated to get out and do something. I waited patiently behind 2 customers ahead of me to order my burger. They told me it's going to be a 20 min wait(Like a typical millennial American I don't like waiting for anything) I shrugged and left . Not the issue. I get it. Fast forward two months later. Thinking I hacked the system I called in to give an order so I can drive down and not wait. I was informed that they don't take over the phone orders. -.- ............ I guess I'll never get the burger I crave. Other then that. Place is awesome. read more

I even had a problem with Amex going down yesterday and it kept declining my card - when it was actually charging my card duplicates- they are so my kinda of people totally understanding and helpful!!! Spend $30 on some hot food. Asked if they had some plates and forks to eat the meal outside in the front patio area, the guy said I had to purchase plate and forks inside the store. I asked why they didn't offer any if you purchase food and intended to eat it there. The manager at this point said because they don't. It's just something they don't do. I asked for my refund because I want to eat the fresh food there and enjoy the environment but I wasn't provided with simple utensils to eat my food. read more

This place has one of the best meat counters in town. The meat is always so fresh and cooks up perfectly. Everyone is very nice and knows you after just a few times in. They don't have everything a huge store might have but they have more than the corner store and all the necessities. Their prices on meat and produce are adds awesome! I'm a regular shopper here because i don't have another option in this economy. this is what i get 2 out of 3 times: expired food, rotten milk, dead smelling meat that tastes like lime and rubber. rotten deli, and very nasty dirty soda cans, that need to be scrubbed clean before drinking. I was thinking of calling the health department, but there is no other market closer to my house were i can go walking. they would probably close the place down. read more

I preferably like my turkey ham sliced thin and I've noticed 2 times butchers get lazy and show me a thin slice at first but then they change the setting to a thicker cut . La Posta is a sweet little market that has bright fruits and veggies and a lovely meat counter. There's hard liquor and everything your hungry butt needs to prepare a meal. Or you can forgo the preparation and purchase prepared food. Caldos, Chile Verde, Chile Colorado, Chile Relleno, Costillas, Empanadas, Birria de res, whatrever your heart desires will be there. Assuming your heart desires what i just mentioned and a few other things. The food tends towards Jalisco style and is filling. My rellenos tasted like they were filled with manchego. That's gooood cheese, mami. The tomatoes this week are 3 for a dollar, big hothouse tomatoes, probably four to a pound or less. A few weeks ago they had prime rib for $3.99 a pound. La posta sends their adverts out with the pennysaver and only for the IB/otay area. The place is clean and bright and usually well stocked. The prepared foods sell out fast. The meat counter.... mmm, meat. Play the Lotto and get your booze-on. Actually, stay away. I want my Rellenos. read more

This is a pretty strong little market- Excellent selection of fresh goodies and very reasonably priced meats. The staff are universally friendly, although you may want to be bilingual here. Great dry goods prices and a good selection of tasty south of the border candies. I love this little store. It's got great seasoned carne asada meat ready for the BBQ and they make their own tortillas (which also taste amazing on the BBQ). Of course you can't forget the Mexican coke they sell there in the glass bottles because it's always better drinking coke out of a glass bottle than anything else! Besides being your one stop shop for a Mexican BBQ, it also has amazing homemade ceviche and guacamole. The best I've ever had anywhere probably. read more

Although this location is a little far from home, I went here with one of my friend's. I didn't know what to expect when I entered this market. I was impressed of how inexpensive some of their cuts of meats are, compared to other markets. It's a good place to get some steaks and veggies for a last minute BBQ party. We are a family of 4 visiting from out of town and were looking for a grocery store at which to get something to drink. Our navigation system led us here. La Posta may be small but it's much more than a grocery store! We grabbed a few tamales (pork and chicken) to take with us to the beach. They were only $1 ea after all. After our beach adventure we dove into the tamales and were in heaven. We immediately turned our car back toward LaPosta to get their advertized deal: 2 roast chickens (or 2# carnitas), 1 dozen homemade tortillas, 1 pint of fresh, chunky salsa, a big tub each of rice and beans and 2 liters of soda for $16.99. How can you beat that? Everything was absolutely delicious, including the chile relleno I just couldn't resist. . A couple days later we visited Imperial Beach again and repeated our purchase. We substituted 1 pound carnitas for one of the chickens. No problem. Thank you, La Posta, for helping make our stay in San Diego economical and delicious. They have meals that are already prepared like chicken so you can order out. I haven't really tried their food but their guacamole is good. For the market itself, it is good for when you are in a hurry and don't have time to go to a big market. It has the basic like meat, poultry, a little mexican bakery, beer, snacks, disposables, cleaning and bathroom materials, fruits, vegetables and some imported goods from México. The prices are decent but some things are more expensie than others. I live right across the street so it is convenient when I am in a hurry. read more
