    Enchiladas verdes with chicken.

My mom, son and I gave this a try after passing it 1000 times. It was fairly empty when we arrived but I'm so glad we came. The food was amazing! They have an impressive menu full of seafood, Mexican dishes, and the Mexican food you'd expect at most Americanized Mexican restaurants. My mom said the mole sauce was the best she'd ever tasted and truthfully it was good and I usually hate mole'. I ha d enchiladas verdes and they were perfect. My son loves his burrito. Sorry pics are half eaten but we couldn't wait to dive in. The salsa trio was fun, the chips were perfectly cooked/salted and I must say their ( somewhat massive) dishes were beautiful.

I ordered a seafood mix on a mocajete. And it was horrible. They only gave me two shrimps. One side of a crab. And a lot of sea food mix!!! it was horrible. Don't come unless it's a desperate thing.

Firmly in the "more is better" camp of Mexican restaurants, La Press is nonetheless a good place to grab a decently quick lunch (or brunch) at a very good value. I was recommended here by my financial advisor of all people, and while he has his standard order of a steak burrito, I couldn't help but notice that the burrito was a single line item in an enormous, wildly colorful menu (#52, in case you wanted to know) and I figured I would get a better idea of their fare with something else. I found this with huevos con chorizo, jamon o tocino, or for the English speakers around here, eggs with Mexican sausage, ham and Mexican bacon. It was served with refried beans and a smattering of Mexican rice. Also a slice of tomato, cucumber and lemon, for some reason. This tastes, as far as I was concerned, authentic. The dish wasn't jacked up with spices, but came with excellent yellow corn tortillas, and enough leftover salsa from the starter (thick, crispy corn tortilla chips) to make wonderful tacos. For $11 plus tip I was well fed through dinner, and had a nice, sweet horchata to boot. If you go the burrito route, $10 gets you the horchata and 2.5 meals on top of it. For a quick Mexican lunch, La Presa is the way to go. And I haven't even gotten a chance to sample any of the dozen-plus seafood entrées yet!

We've been to a few of the 'authentic' Mexican restaurants in the Palatine area -- Tacos El Norte, Los Arcos and El Toreo. They aren't big on decor or ambiance, but if you want a delicious Mexican meal at a reasonable price, they fit the bill. Well of all the authentic Mexican restaurants in the area, La Presa (technically Taqueria La Presa) is one of the best you'll find. The food is very tasty, the meals are big enough to split, and they have a wide selection of bottled beers. I ordered a Corona, (normally I get Modelo Especial), and it came with a frosted glass, salt on the rim and a slice of lime. Nice touch! I also ordered the ground beef burrito (I know, not too adventurous) but it was HUGE, literally as long as my forearm. I had to take half of it home. If I was more adventurous, and liked seafood, this would be the place to come often! They have an incredible selection of seafood dishes. In general this is a well kept secret just west of the Arlington Race Track / Highway 53 and just a block north of Northwest Highway on Rohlwing Road in a little strip mall.

They have improved dramatically since we were last there. First, the service was awesome. They have decorated so it has a nice ambiance. Their menu has also grown a lot. They still have about ten tables and appear to do a good takeout business. There were four of us and we ordered a few items. Their guacamole was excellent. I had their taco dinner - three tacos, beans, and rice. The portions were large and the food was delicious. Two in our party has Quesabirrias and one had Quecas. We also shared a horchata. It was all wonderful. I admit, everything was really good. And I'm very happy we gave them a second try. We'll be back soon.

However my experience was really hurt by waiting on my child's kids meal to come out way after my meal to where I was sitting there waiting and done with my meal. My toddler's meal came out piping hot. Piece of advice for every business restaurant make sure the kids meal comes out sooner than later even before the parents and make sure it's cooled down. They're not gonna eat piping hot food and burn the interior of their mouth. I ended up having to take it to go.

The meat is high quality and nicely cooked. Rice and beans were very good as well. The thing we missed was more flavor and heat!! I'd love to get a little heat from jalapenos or spices, but it was not there. The salsa was not too hot either. We're not heat freaks by any means, but we do love some spice in our Mexican food. The burrito also had rice in it so my side of rice was probably not needed. All in all the food is good and high quality. What I'd love to have is more flavor and heat!!

The service truly stood out--everyone was patient, helpful, and made sure everything was perfect throughout my visit. The food was beyond delicious. You can tell everything is made fresh and with quality ingredients. Every bite was full of flavor, and the portions were great for the price. What I appreciated most is how inclusive the menu is. As someone who follows a vegan lifestyle, it can sometimes be difficult to find places with good options--but this spot really delivered. They offer a variety of vegan choices that are not just an afterthought, but actually well-prepared and full of flavor. It's rare to find a place that gets both food and service this right. Whether you're vegan or not, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. I'll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family. If you're thinking about trying it, don't hesitate--you won't be disappointed!

So, I stopped in during the week, just after lunch time and found this little hole-in-the wall of a restaurant conveniently nestled in a shopping center next to the local Walmart. Even though I walked in and the restaurant was completely empty, the pure vibrancy of the decor and the cheerfulness of the staff encouraged me to stay. Not to mention that the aroma making its way out from the kitchen was absolutely mouth-watering. I took a seat at the bar while I perused the menu and was delighted in the simplicity of it. You know the food is about to be fire when the menu is simple and a restaurant focuses on what it does well. In addition to the excellent service, the food was absolutely phenomenal. I started off with some chips and salsa.... which was delightfully flavorful and perfectly crisp. Then, I had a bowl of the tortilla soup. Each spoonful was like deja vu. Each bite made me feel like I was in my grandmother's kitchen as a little girl all over again. The broth was perfectly seasoned and each bite came with a chunk of chicken and an assortment of veggies... truly perfecto! Once I was done with the appetizers, I made my decision to try two tacos from the menu. The first was a salmon taco--and it didn't TASTE FISHY. It was grilled to perfection and then paired with an unexpected yet delicious topping of crispy potato strings and chipotle aioli. I ate every bite of this. It was the perfect combination of crunch and flavor, I just couldn't get enough. Then I also ordered the carne asada a cabron taco. Simple, yet dynamically flavorful. I was so full at this point but took this one home to eat at a later time. Still as amazing as the day I ordered it i'm sure. While I neglected to have any desserts or margaritas here, I was assured that they are just as remarkable as anything else. I had a wonderful meal, excellent service and I greatly look forward to going back if i'm ever in the area again for work. 10/10 Highly recommend!!
