I was here for a private event and everything from start to finish was absolutely 5 stars. Our large group had the entire restaurant to ourselves from 5pm - 11pm and it was everything a private event should be. Service throughout was consistent and of great quality. Staff members were on top of their game, taking care of 50+ people who were ready to drink/eat and have a great time. Whenever I had an empty plate it was quickly removed to make room for another. This casual yet elevated bar offers delicious drinks and food. I did not have any alcohol but from what I was told the drinks were strong and tasty. The food hit the spot for me. We were provided with a TON of food, to the point where to go boxes were put out since there was plenty to bring home. My favorites were the Buffalo Mac n cheese, cheese curds, and chicken tenders. Up to last review. Still delish! I had the pot roast French dip with a side salad. It was delicious. One of my friends also had the pot roast with fries and the third person in our party ordered a quinoa salad, which looked delicious. my friend ordered coffee and they made a fresh pot for her. Decided to try MP before catching some live tunes on a Thursday night at Town Center. I was impressed with the staff's service...both inside the restaurant and out at the live music. We decided to come here because the synergy movie theater didn't have anything that looked very appealing for the weekday and the other restaurant was closed. I'm glad I came here. We got it on their happy hour, and I tried a pot roast slider and had big pieces of caramelized onion, and the pot roast it was a little dry so I asked the girl for some Ajou. It really made a difference I ordered the happy hour. Mediterranean dip was fantastic. My boyfriend had the Patti out, which was also really good and we got it with the cutest little metal basket of sweet potato fries, I would come back here and try a lot more food that has a really good rating. Yesterday was our first in person dinner at MP. We have always ordered carryout in the past. We love the food and the staff and ambiance are welcoming. My Protein Cobb salad with Balsamic dressing and Sweet Potato Fries were both excellent! MP's Ribs and Mac and Cheese are a favorite of my husband. This is a great add to this cool new area in Wheeling! My family if 5 was seated immediately at 5pm on a Friday. The kids menu is excellent - grilled cheese, Mac and cheese, cheeseburger, pasta, and chicken tenders - all things that my kids will actually eat (it's a miracle!). The Mac and cheese was a little bland, but I added some pepper and it was good. The Kick my Angus Burger was SO. SPICY. My husband quite enjoyed it. I love spicy food, so I tried it and omg! I could not believe how spicy the fresh jalapeños were! But this is not a "little spice" burger.... Woah. Homemade chips were really good and sweet potato fries were on point. Sunday lunch for the 5 of us was a delight. Our daughter and son in law have done pick up orders from there, so we all wanted to try it out. Excellent service from a gentleman who had many busy booths and tables to cover. Orders were perfect, food was perfect. It came with Mac and cheese which was nice and saucy - only issue was that it wasn't as hot as the rest of the food. My husband got the cubano which was a larger portion than what we typically see and it could have been pressed better but he said it was good. The service was okay. I've been to Meat and Potato before, but it had been awhile and I was looking forward to going back. I was STARVING when we arrived for a late lunch, and eager to try some new items on the menu. We started with the nacho platter appetizer because I had a coupon for a free appetizer. The nacho platter was enormous and delicious -- definitely the best nachos I've had in many years. Three of us shared the nachos, and honestly, they could have sufficed for lunch, but we went on to order lunch. I ordered the caprese chicken wrap with a side of homemade chips. The two had great potential, but it was assembled in chunks of ingredients, so I had several bites that were solely tortilla and thick basil, and then other bites with just chicken. If the ingredients had been mingled better inside the wrap, it would have been great. I really liked the homemade chips, but when I tried another person's sweet potato fries, the chips just couldn't compare. Note to self - stick with the sweet potato fries next time! Because we'd filled up on nachos, we all had leftovers. Not complaining. From the outside and from their takeout menu, this place seems like it'd be a fast casual place similar to McAllister's, Potbelly, or Cafe Zupas. However, this is actually more of a very reasonably priced sit-in restaurant with serious food and plenty of TVs to watch sports on. As Kesha mentioned, the Spud Nachos and Burgers are great items to try here. The spud nachos come in an enormous portion and are surprisingly tasty with the cheese sauce and bacon bits. The burger is cooked well, though I wish there was more seasoning on the meat. The slightly grilled brioche bun with a light crisp provides a nice texture to go with the other elements. Overall, a nice place to grab a bite with better flavors, food options, and atmosphere than what you'd expect from a sports bar. read more

What a WONDERFUL dinner we had! The atmosphere was welcoming, waitress and other staff were friendly and efficient. We enjoyed cheese curds for an appetizer. That and the rest of the food was popping hot and DELICIOUS!! Portions were HUGE!! I was going to have a milkshake ( the next table bought some and they looked wonderful)...but sadly, I didn't have room left... Maybe next visit I'll start with one! This place is always an easy and good meal. The restaurant has plenty of seating both indoor and out. My husband is obsessed with the grain bowl which keeps him coming back time and time again. I don't think he's tried anything else on the menu for fear that it won't be as good I love that their gluten free bread is genuinely delicious and doesn't taste like a dried disc of dirt like most places. Beautiful restaurant! Love the decor and our waitress was really friendly. We popped in for lunch before a baseball game at the Heritage Park fields next door. We wanted a light lunch. The side salads were standard: lettuce, tomato, onion and cucumbers, but they came w/a garlic butter roll on the side. That was a nice touch. Unfortunately, the lettuce tasted like it needed another round of rinsing. Next came the Avocado Flatbread to share. The pickled onions were my favorite part of this dish, but the bacon was a close second. There was a lot of arugula atop the avocado, be warned if you aren't a fan of the flavor of arugula, there is so much it cuts through the other toppings. We liked, not loved, it. There is a lot on the menu! Lots of burgers, wraps and mains...and tons of drinks. If you live in the area or are at the fields, check them out. read more

Visited here on a Monday early evening, first time here, place was about 1/4 packed, grabbed 2 seats at the bar. They had a couple of tv's around displaying ChiveTV (could never get bored with ChiveTV.) Noise level was average. Noticed a lot of other first timers diners as well. The bartender was very welcoming and attentive, started the visit with a bloody buddy, the spicy level was top notch. The newest addition to a portfolio of casual eateries within One Wheeling Town Center opened just four days before our visit. According to their Website, the folks who launched this new concept have 30 years of restaurant experience under their belts. Opening was delayed first by the pandemic and then the challenge of finding staff. I generally prefer to give new places a few weeks to smooth out any wrinkles before I stick my nose in the door, but my Missus and her sis (who lives nearby) couldn't wait to check it out. This is a full-service restaurant with table and booth seating. There is also a bar and of course carryout is available. The décor is contemporary with rustic accents and a muted palette of earth tones. The menu features a blend of mainstream American comfort foods and more innovative dishes. Yes, you can have your basic meat & potatoes (plus some meatless choices), or you can explore foodie territory with, say, the "Kick My Angus Burger." The menu continues on for several pages with an ample beverage list, shareable apps, flatbreads, salads & soups, burgers and other sandwiches, specialty entrées, sides, desserts, and a kids' menu. Our menu choices, though familiar-sounding, turned out to be a quantum leap above diner-quality food. Old school diners typically drench overcooked pot roast and veggies in thick gravy, but my pot roast entrée had no gravy at all. Didn't need gravy because the fork-tender meat was juicy and bursting with flavor. The accompanying green bean/carrot mix and roasted potatoes seasoned with fresh herbs were superb. I had to box up half of my meal. My Missus ordered "Ma! The Meatloaf" which, despite the hokey name, was one of the best restaurant meatloafs (meatloaves?) she tasted in recent memory. Her sis was equally impressed with the turkey burger, served on an asiago bun with Havarti cheese and balsamic aioli. The dessert menu also features comfort food faves. I couldn't resist the flourless chocolate cake, a dense puck of ambrosial dark chocolate accompanied by fresh berries, strawberry sauce, and whipped cream. Our server, understandably not yet up to speed on fielding questions about menu items, was attentive and delightful. This restaurant is a welcome addition to our list of favorite places in Wheeling. read more

This is a pleasant upscale evolution of what was originally called Meat and Potatoes in other locations. The menu has quite a variety of desirable items, yet I found myself ordering the same item after many months between visits. I had the patty melt with a side salad; we also had the Fig jam Burger with chips. The presentations are appropriate and my patty melt was cooked perfectly. I really don't know the area so I didn't realize I was in the area because I recently came with friends across the way at City Works. There's so many newer places to eat around here! My husband and I came here for restaurant month and service was okay. And the food was good. I was hoping for more of a mom & pop joint by the name of the restaurant, meat and potatoes. It tastes like standard fare, but it reminds me of a Moretti's type of restaurant. Not that bad, but not that great either. I do like the Cobb salad because I love anything avocado and egg; do smother it with blue cheese and blue cheese dressing, thank you. It's a full service bar service many beers, wine and pitchers of sangria. I'll come here over City Works any day if it's a girls night out because some are not into international fare. read more

It was so noisy with the tvs blasting, I couldn't wait to get my food and leave. To me so much noise is very stressful, I get a stomachache when I am stressed out and I can't eat with a nervous stomach. The staff was very standoffish too. Seems they were unhappy to be there. I am not returning to this place. I am sorry, I believe people should know because I am not the only one, many others do not like noisy places. It seems many people like this place, I am just not a junk food/carb/nacho, meat and potatoes person, and I really like more peaceful environment when I eat. You could not even say a prayer quietly in your mind before you eat, because you would get distracted by the noise. I am glad the business is thriving. The homemade chips were amazing. They Caprese wrap was soggy, soaking in what I think is the tomato juices? I wish they would state that it's warm. It was gross. Didn't have much flavor. The Cobb salad had so much water from rinsing still, it was also tasteless and have lemon in it? I've always ordered these, and never had it taste like lemon. The quinoa on it was weird too. I really love this spot. There really is no place that tells you that they specialize in man food: meat and potions. If Tim Allen was here, he'd make his signature "Home Improvement" grunt. This used to be a fast casual in Lake Zurich, but closed and reopened as a sit down restaurant in Wheeling -- and that was a HUGE improvement! The ambiance is relaxed and fun (they even have a wall for perfect social media pics). They have a nice outdoor seating area that (thankfully) is not on top of the main courtyard that features live music in the summer. I say "thankfully" because you can't hear yourself think let alone other diners in the other restaurants closer to the live music. Meat and Potato is a nice distance away. The food is well worth the visit. This is comfort food to the nth degree. I mean, they have poutine. And it's fabulous! The pot roast is delicious! Burgers are juicy. Nachos and Buffalo Mac are all good. Flatbreads are tasty. And the bartenders know their drinks. I have eaten something different at each visit and the food seems to get better and better. We started off with the Spud Nachos, which is essentially potatoes topped with all of the amazing nacho fixings. It was so good I couldn't stop eating it! By the time our entrees came out, I was already full but decided to give it a go. I had the Fig N Awesome burger... and I can honestly say it is now one of my all time favorites! Stopped in for a quick lunch. I ordered the protein Cobb salad and my husband got the pot roast dip sandwich. Both items arrived quickly. I noticed my avocado was missing from the salad so the waitress went to check on it. She soon brought a dish of a half avocado. The salad was also supposed to have mixed greens but had romaine...small details but maybe they're dealing with supply issues. The salad was OK, nothing amazing about it, but nothing bad either. Husband enjoyed his sandwich. There are lots of other places to get food of this caliber. We were very pleasantly surprised with this place. We are also glad they changed their name from using the words meat and potatoes to "MP Kitchen & Bar." We got a reservation easily since it was a week night and this area has lots of competition with another brew pub literally across the street and several other restaurants very close by. We sat in a large booth by the front door and the service was very good with one notable exception. I asked them to hold the bun on my burger because I'm not eating too many carbs and I didn't want to waste it plus if you take it off of the bun a lot of the sauces and things get sucked up by the bun and now you wouldn't have those nice additions. When it came out it was on a bun and because all of the great sauces were soaked up by it, I asked them to take it back and fix it and they did quickly. They apologized numerous times and they took care of it very quickly, so there was no need for them to offer any kind of spiff because of that. Several others also ordered burgers - the fig jam one and also the patty melt. The looked good and said that they were very tasty. The french fries were crispy and well seasoned. They have a pretty extensive menu, lots of appetizers, a fair number of salads, sandwiches, and burgers. There might have been another section of items I don't remember and I forgot to take a picture of the menu!
