My boyfriend and I had an amazing and unforgettable dinner here. The food was cooked exactly as we asked and arrived in a timely manner. The service is absolutely phenomenal. We unfortunately forgot our waiter's name but he was wonderful! Since we were staying at the Westin Bonaventure, it was so convenient for us to just go up to the 34th floor after a long day of galavanting around LA. The panoramic view was so beautiful and truly enhanced our dining experience. We ordered the 10 oz filet mignon au poivre with brandy peppercorn sauce, the 18 oz New York strip, a 3lb butter poached maine lobster, and the macaroni and vermont white cheddar cheese au gratin. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five was a minor mishap at the start; the hostess stand was empty when we arrived (we assumed she might have been on a quick break), so we waited about 5-10 minutes before being greeted. Absolutely horrible, outdated and disgusting. It almost seems like the restaurant is either on the verge of going under or changing ownership because obviously nobody cares. From the outdated carpet to the atrocious service this place was borderline unbelievable. It almost felt like we were on hidden camera it was so bad. From the get go it was hilarious. We asked the host if we could have a table and she noted it would be a 45 minute wait (mind you the restaurant was empty) so I made a reservation online and came back half an hour later. Almost as if they didn't want to seat another table. Who hires these people who don't have the restaurants interest in mind whatsoever ? How does this place have a Wine Spectator grand award (see attached photo)? When I asked for the complete wine list the 'manager' asked if I was looking for something more robust? Uhmm no... that wasn't even near what I was looking for at all. I wanted a great bottle of wine. Maybe Bordeaux or Burgundy (they have neither of which as it turns out. Seems odd of a wine spectator grand award) . He couldn't find the key to the cellar, couldn't tell me any prices and literally seemed like they were actively NOT trying to make money. When I asked why they didn't have a full list of all the wines they had for sale, he made up some BS about how some of them 'expired' during covid 19? So in the 6 years following covid you couldn't update the wine list? Instead of offering us a glass of wine or cocktail while we waited for his ill-fated side quest to find a key to the wine cellar, I saw him walk by the table half a dozen times without even an update. So no wine... Some tired Dennys waitress takes our order and when the first course comes out (mind you still no cocktails), the iceberg wedge salad is undressed and must've just come out of the freezer. Visited LA Prime to celebrate Valentines Day and anniversary with my wife and this was the absolute perfect spot to celebrate. To start, you'll have to park at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel, valet parking only it seems, make your way to the correct elevators (valet staff can guide you) and go up to the 35th floor to a amazing city view of Los Angeles. One gimmick my wife and I noticed is that the lower part of the restaurant has a slow rotating mechanism so you're enjoying your meal with a different view as it goes. Very romantic vibes overall, the lighting makes it even better. We were immediately seated and guided to our seats as we checked in, reservation is a must here to avoid any wait times. We had such a nice view of the LA Skyline which was perfect for the romantic vibes. Staff here is great. They're very professional, clean, quick, and very attentive. Our order was taking quickly and food came out in a timely manner as well. As it was Valentines Day, they had a Valentines special. Order any of the specials and you'll received a glass of complimentary champagne, which is exactly what we did to spice up the evening. To start the meal, we were handed complimentary breads, 2x raisin breads, 2x breadsticks, both were great starters but I do prefer the regular kinds of breads. --WHAT WE ORDERED-- -- Macaroni and Vermont White Cheddar Cheese Au Gratin -- Underrated side dish, I would say this is one of the best side dishes to pair with your steak dish. The taste of fresh mac n cheese gives you that melting feel after a bite of your steak piece, very much a compliment to your dishes overall. Portions are big, perfect to be a shareable dish. There's some cheese pull to this dish which makes the dish even prettier. Presentation is top notch even for a mac n cheese type dish. Highly recommend. 10/10 -- New York Strip Steak -- Part of the Valentines Day menu, which is a bit less portion than the original one on the standard menu. Overall, a very well made strip as I had it cooked medium rare, and it was cooked to perfection. It was very easy to cut, each bite was very tender and doesn't require much chewing. It's pretty standard presentation that a steak dish shows. I found that there's plenty of veggies that comes with the steak, kind of overwhelming but the main star is the steak itself. 9/10 -- Bone In Short Rib (16 oz) -- I'd say this was the star of the meal. Comes with a side of mash potatoes, it was a amazing mix with the short rib itself. The meat came off the bone without even touching it. It was cooked to perfection and it looks as good as it taste. Each bite was full of flavor to the point where I wanted to order another one. 10000/10, amazing, highly recommend. To conclude the meal, our server brought out a surprise dessert to celebrate our anniversary. Don't know the name of the dessert but it was full chocolate. My husband and I enjoyed an amazing dinner at LA Prime Steakhouse. We booked our reservation using OpenTable and were seated immediately upon arrival. From our table, we had a stunning view of the entire city, as we were on the 35th floor. The restaurant has an upscale and sophisticated ambiance that is perfect for date nights. To start off our dinner, we received a warm bread basket with a side of butter. Then the dishes we ordered were all served at the same time. The star of the night was the bone in short rib with port butter sauce and root vegetable puree. It was super delicious and beautifully presented. I loved the tenderness of the meat, which easily slid off the bone. Another noteworthy entree is the Manhattan cut NY Steak with potato fondant, charred rapini, and bordelaise sauce. The steak was cooked at a perfect medium rare. It was savory, juicy, and so full of flavor. On the side, we had the five cheese macaroni and cheese au gratin. This was very rich and creamy, making it a great complement to our entrees. My favorite part of this side dish was the crispy golden top layer from being baked. To conclude the meal, we were surprised with a delectable, gooey chocolate dessert with berries. The dessert even included a candle and "happy anniversary" message because we mentioned that it was our anniversary in the reservation. I am very appreciative to have received this and it was the perfect way to end our dinner. The menu at this restaurant changes every now and then, so certain dishes may not be available depending on when you visit. For special occasions, they may have a special menu in addition to the regular menu. Parking is valet only (no self-parking) in an underground lot. We came here for a romantic date night before our LA Phil concert. The server quickly took us to our table with a spectacular view. We ordered the Dine LA menu. All the servers are very attentive. The restaurants a very luxury and fancy vibe. The night view of LA gave it a mesmerizing feel. For starter, I ordered the lobster bisque. The soup is so rich and bold in taste. There are generous chunks of lobster. A great blend of cream/butter and seasoning. It paired perfectly with the sourdough warm bread with butter. The au poivre sauce was tasty. It adds flavors to the steak. It is made with crushed peppercorns, cream, and brandy, adding a bold and spicy kick to your dish. Sides For the sides, I got almost everything. The crispy Brussels sprouts with sage, hazelnuts, preserved lemon, and Parmesan. The Yukon gold-loaded mashed potatoes, smoked bacon, cheddar, and callions. The baby spinach in Parmesan cream sauce. I think one of the most beautiful views of Los Angeles with one of the best cuisines too. We got stuck in some pre LA Marathon traffic and were about 1/2 an hour late for our reservation. Thankfully they were still able to accommodate us. This was my first time dining at this restaurant and hopefully not the last. Service was excellent from the hostess who adjusted our reservation and sat us to our server who promptly greeted us with a smile and menus. The view was great and the restaurant was so peaceful. I'm used to having to practically shout over loud raucous kitchen noise and other guests. Not here. It was so nice to relax and talk at a normal volume. We went the senior citizen route and shared filet minot and risotto because we had an event afterwards and would not be able to take leftovers. Staying in the Westin for work and heard about this rooftop restaurant from my Lyft. Stopped here by myself around 6pm on Sat. and got sweated quickly. I got a merlot paired with their signature 24 oz Delmonico Ribeye and a side of roasted Brussels sprouts. The steak was actually so good .. probably one of the best I've ever had. It was pretty fatty but not in a greasy way; definitely more melt-in-your-mouth style. The Brussels sprouts were nice and crispy but also very flavorful like they were cooked in some pork fat. I could only finish about half by myself because the portions are also GIGANTIC. Same for the chocolate cake dessert which was a HUGE but delicious slice. The service was nice--there was a lady who reminded me of an aunty, talking a lot but very sweet, so you couldn't be annoyed. You will need to get your parking ticket validated which makes the parking $11 after validation. From the parking lot and going up, you need to go to the yellow elevators (past the red elevators) and go up to the 35th floor. On that same 35th floor, there is also a revolving bar you can check out. We were going to make our way down there but we were already so full from dinner we decided to just skip it and head home. 10/10 would recommend this place. read more

We came to LA Prime for Dine LA week. This was a great choice and it did not disappoint. First, our pre-dinner drinks were excellent. Lemon drop martini and an old fashioned. Dinner was an 8 oz filet minon and braised short ribs with mouseline potatoes plus a side of brussels sprouts. All excellent and made to perfection. I had a glass of Daou reserve cabernet sauvignon. Not ready for Primetime if you are a single diner. I arrived for my 5 pm reservation on a Thursday evening. The hostess greeted me and then tried to seat me at a booth away from the windows. The restaurant was empty. So strikes one and two. The server did not know the cost of the lobster thermidor nor the ingredients. I ordered it because I always wanted to try it. I think its a challening dish to prepare. I think by the time you cook the lobster and Then add the toppings and cook that on the lobster becomes overcooked. I don't fault the restaurant for that. The lobster bisques and bread was excellent. I suspect if I stuck with red meat I would have had better food experience. At the end I asked to put the charge on my room at the Westin. The waitress told me to not leave until she entered the charges. This was strike three and therefore the service here was a massive fail. read more

The mushroom medley was prepared perfectly and was buttery and savory. The asparagus was perfectly cooked. The asparagus spears were tender and firm, not soft and mushy. The creamed corn was sweet, and the cream sauce delightfully rich. The Parmesan creamed spinach had the perfect balance of flavor. The Parmesan cheese was not over powering. Shrimp scampi, pelugra garlic butter, crusty baguette - 5/5 The large shrimp were perfectly cooked. The shrimp was firm and tender. The garlic sauce made the large shrimp very flavorful and tasty. A very nice selection for shrimp lovers. NOTE; You just get large shrimp, no pasta of any kind comes with this selection. Chilean seabass, pan seared, garlic tomato relish - 5/5 Another perfectly cooked seafood selection. The Chilean sea bass was flakey tender. The garlic tomato relish sauce went perfectly with the Chilean sea bass. The size of the fillet was around 6oz. New orleans gumbo, lobster, prawns, scallops, andouille sausage, jasmine rice - 5/5 This selection was a very unique, one of kind. We have never seen a seafood gumbo that. With this seafood gumbo, you get a whole lobster tail, shrimp, and scallops. You'll be hard pressed to find a restaurant in New Orleans that will include premium seafoods you get with this selection at LA Prime. The gumbo flavor was on point, and the andouille sausage was embedded in the gumbo sauce, and sliced pieces in this dish. The gumbo sauce was a little spicy as most gumbo sauces are. Overall, you won't find a better gumbo selection unless you're in New Orleans. Our experience at LA Prime was excellent. The service was excellent, the environment comfortable, and the views of LA outstanding. This is an upscale restaurant, so expect upscale pricing.
