When you enter their 24th floor it's quite spectacular. They're always shining with brilliant welcoming smiles. We sat at the bar for a little bite to celebrate my husband's birthday and boy were we so delighted by the appetizer we chose because it was hands down one of the best things I've tasted. We got their Aguacate Relleno which is an avocado stuffed with blue crab with puffed quinoa, yuzu pearls, and a garlic ajoblanco sauce. Went to Sendero with a group of four for dinner and drinks. We didn't have reservations, but when we walked up the place was pretty lightly attended. Honestly felt like there were more staff than patrons. Despite that, it took over 15 minutes for anyone to even come to our table. Not a great start, especially for a restaurant at this level. Service was slow across the board, including drinks. It dragged to the point where we decided not to stay for dinner and left after our first round of cocktails. The space itself is beautiful and the views are obviously a big draw. Drinks were decent, but not enough to make up for the lack of service. Hoping this was just a one-off, but overall pretty disappointing. read more

Absolutely perfect. Every single dish we ordered was above our expectations. First of all, the menu options were on point; it was hard to choose since everything sounded so good. They had unique flavor profiles with unique ingredients that made me want to try them all. We ended up ordering the ceviche coco and ceviche teruano to start (the best ceviche I've ever had and I'm a ceviche snob) fish was very fresh and the flavors caused a little dance party in my mouth lol we also got the arepas and empanadas. The chimichurri and sauces that came with them were exquisite. Literally perfectly made by someone who understands flavor. For the entrees we got the mole chicken and the Seabass. I'm not a sea bass person but the way it was made wowed me. Presentation was like art, flavor was Michelin star status. The chicken mole was unique, had a dry coffee rub and you dipped the chicken in the mole. Never had that experience! Also the dessert was the icing on the cake. Don't get me started on the churros with the Mexican hot chocolate.. obsessed! I can't wait to come back and try more on the menu. This place is sooo underrated. Yes it's hard to find and parking sucks, but the views were great and the customer service was perfect. Oh & if you like to drink, check out their unique drinks. First, this restaurant is everything you would want to have a holiday dinner, located inside the Ritz Carlton on the 24th floor, this place offers views of DTLA we all love. Our party of 10 were seated right away and ordered cocktails while we looked at the menu. Their cocktails were good, strong just the way I like it (I only took a sip of my friend's drink haha)! The food is tapas style but the entree portions were huge! Most of the girls ordered the branzino, one couple ordered the chicken and we ordered/shared the ceviche and the barbacoa. Everything was so delicious! The table also ordered all three types of empanadas to share (spinach, prime beef and mushrooms), and they were all very good. We topped off dinner with cappuccinos and lots of photos and had a memorable time together. Quick tip: opt for valet parking, super easy and convenient, and the restaurant also validates! View was great . Food was great . Service was not good. You get a half cup of water and they do not concern themselves with coming to fill it back up . Had to beg for water multiple times. The guacamole was a great potion and there was still some left over after finishing the small amount of chips you get in proportion to the guac. We asked for more chips, usually a person would say there is an additional charge for that, that didn't happen but we found out later on that there was an additional charge. Corteza at Sendero, up on the 24th floor of the Ritz Carlton in downtown Los Angeles, is quite the spot. We came here after an event at the Grammy Museum, and even though it was late, they had a couple of reservations available via the Resy app. The place definitely has beautiful views of the city, especially at night, being up on the 24th floor really gives you those panoramic sights. It's spacious and airy, though it felt slightly dated, which I guess makes sense considering the Ritz Carlton was built maybe over 10 years ago now. The food, I believe, is South American - maybe Argentinian or Honduran, or just a mix of different South American cuisines. We ordered the Arepas, but they also had empanadas, chimichurri, steak, and Iberico pork on the menu. Everything was very pricey. Drinks were above $20 each, and entrées were easily above $40 something, which you'd expect at an in-house Ritz Carlton Hotel restaurant. That being said, we also ordered the half chicken. My wife loved the Arepas, but for $29 and only getting two very, very small slider-sized ones, it's probably not worth the value. The half chicken I ordered came with two roasted sweet potatoes, some chimichurri on the side, a couple of roasted spring onions, and a cherry tomato. The chicken, as well as the roasted sweet potato, were both highly under-seasoned. Just two days prior, we had some roasted chicken from Stonefire Grill, a very affordable family-style restaurant in the Valley, and its seasoning was exponentially better than this roasted half chicken that boasted a price of $49. Overall, while the view was nice and the place was spacious, the service was just okay, and the food was bland. It's honestly not a place I'd return to or take my wife on a second date. read more

I had such a memorable experience at Sendero that I felt compelled to share. From the moment we walked in, we were seated immediately, which set a welcoming tone for the evening. My mother mentioned she was cold, and the staff not only adjusted the air but also offered her a wrap to keep her comfortable. That small gesture spoke volumes about their attentiveness and care. I'm vegan, and I initially didn't enjoy the dish I ordered--the tamale lacked flavor for my taste, even though the presentation was absolutely beautiful and eye-catching. When we mentioned this, the manager, Betty, handled it with exceptional care and patience. She took the time to explain other options, replaced the dish without hesitation, and then personally guided us on what felt like a "tour of South America" through food. Each new dish she recommended was more flavorful, unique, and thoughtfully prepared than the last. To top it off, the chef came out to greet us, and we were able to thank him in person for his creativity and truly gifted hands. What stood out most was the genuine warmth, responsiveness, and hospitality. I felt as though we had been invited to their kitchen table. They clearly care--not just about how the food looks and tastes, but about how their guests feel. And you can taste that care in every dish that arrives at the table. I'm very glad Jim G. and I found this gorgeous place. We were supposed to go to the Kings' game but got ripped off from a ticket seller on StubHub (for our $ back for tickets, but not for parking); rather than ruin the whole night fighting traffic back home, we took the elevator up to the beautiful Corteza lounge in the Ritz Carlton. We were seated right by the window with a beautiful view and our server Kay was lovely. She gave us time when we needed it, great suggestions for drinks, and was friendly and prompt. For cocktails, I enjoyed the Y Tu Tia Tambien ($26) and the Mexican Breakfast ($24). Jim G enjoyed a Ketel Martini ($21). We ordered the Ribeye Anticuchos ($26) that were cooked perfectly and served with aji panca, peanut huacatay salsa, and duck fat fried potato confit. So good! I recently visited Sendero at the Ritz and unfortunately the experience did not meet my expectations. The views were definitely the highlight of the evening--they were beautiful and one of the main reasons we chose to visit. However, the menu was very limited with not many food options available. There were also no sides offered to complement the entrées, which made the meal feel incomplete. The food and drinks were also quite overpriced for what was offered. Additionally, the valet parking was expensive even with validation. For a Friday night, the atmosphere was surprisingly quiet with very few people there, so the ambiance felt lacking and not very lively. I will say that the service was good and the staff was friendly, which we appreciated. Overall, while the views were great and the service was pleasant, the limited menu, high prices, and lack of atmosphere made the experience disappointing. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations and I would not visit again. read more

My boyfriend surprised me with a Christmas Eve date night dinner here. The space is great and the view is even better. Our server was very attentive and made sure we ordered just the right amount. We started with three ceviches. They were all great and so different! I think the coconut milk in the hamachi was our favorite. But the complexity of the plum and scallop with the aji amarillo in the tiradito was delightfully surprising. And the tart brightness of the yuzu paired so well with the prawn and heat in the aguachile. The duck confit arepas were so good, especially with the lemon crema. After a Clippers game we popped into this bar/restaurant for a drink and some appetizers. This restaurant/bar is located on the 24th floor of the Ritz Carlton at the LA Live! Very close to the stadium so a perfect place to stop for a relaxing drink! The view from this location are stellar: you can enjoy a great view of the LA skyline! We had great service late at night! We ordered a couple of cocktails and appetizers! The drinks were well poured in beautiful glassware. Their wine by the glass list was nice but short! We were all content with our drinks! I did noticed that the menu had very interesting, unique cocktails priced in the 20s. My Callie glass of wine was 20 dollars. We also ordered empanadas! We had three different types. Each order came with two empanadas. Lastly we had guacamole which was not on the menu thus market price?! The guacamole was fresh and real! Needed a little more spice: we were provided with a super spicy hot sauce! The homemade hot sauce was excellent! If money is not an option, then I would suggest this place for a drink! This is such a cute restaurant! We (2 people) went in as a walk in and was seated immediately on a Thursday night. We got the steak, short rib, and aguachiles. They have happy hour from 9pm-12am. We also had two glasses of their red wine from the happy hour menu. And the manzana to finish off dessert. I love apple pies so if you're a fan of that then definitely recommend that dessert. All the food tasted great with above average quality. The only critique on the steak was it could have been more tender. Location: Top floor of Ritz Carlton downtown. Beware of street closures when there are games of concerts at LA Live, makes for nightmare driving and parking. Parking: Valet parking is $15 for 2 hrs, then $15 every 30 mins after. Restaurant does validate and offer a discount. Even with discount, parking came to $23 for dinner!! Pricey. Ambience: cool space and rooftop has nice city view. Not too loud. Service: we were totally underwhelmed by the service here. Waiter kind of disappeared after taking our order. Since this is a tapas menu, also did not let us know items that only come in 2 for a group of 4. Food: Latin American tapas and food. Definitely have hits and misses. More misses than hits. Of the tapas: Empanadas were excellent but pricey, tiradito was solid but nothing unique, the arepas were good sized but underwhelming in flavor, the cheesy bowl was a total miss. Of the entrees: the seafood bowl was the best dish of the entrees, the steak was good but nothing special, and short ribs was just ok. Overall, solid but nothing unique. For similar price, Meteora and Otium are much much better. Plus added the parking fee as well and LA Live traffic hassle. read more

I want to caveat that this review is only for the experience of doing the Thanksgiving set course meal, and no indication of the quality of the restaurant the rest of the year. Overall, I would not recommend the experience. The ambiance of the restaurant is fantastic, but the service was slow and the food was so-so. For the price, I believe you'd be better off elsewhere. Corteza gives its take on several Thanksgiving staples, starting off with biscuits and salad (not pictured because they disappeared quickly). The biscuits were small but tasty, heavy with chive flavor and complemented by the cinnamon butter. You get one per person, and each biscuit is about a quarter of the size of a typical dinner roll. The Frisée salad was a bit heavy on acidity but otherwise unremarkable. The main course (which could be substituted for a ribeye for a $50 additional charge on the $105 / per person set) was turkey done three ways. One of them tasted like your typical dry breast meat you'd have at the family dinner table, but the best on the plate was definitely the chicharron. Still they needed a healthy dose of the gravy (which was good) to add much-needed moisture and flavor to the meat. The stuffing, mashed potatoes, and green beans were tasty and simple dishes. For dessert, we were surprised that while other diners received smaller pumpkin tartlets, we received two full slices of pie that tasted about like what you'd get at Costco, served over a bed of caramel and a small scoop of ice cream on the side. I asked about why ours was different, and the server told me that it was the same thing just in a different shape. Service was very slow, after sitting down it took about 30-45 minutes between each course. During one of the water refills, the cup overflowed and water got all over the table but the waiter did not seem to notice. Given that everyone was getting the exact same dishes (besides the pie... I guess?) I was surprised at the wait times. I understand that staffing is difficult around a holiday time like this, but having booked the meal in advance I have to say I was pretty disappointed. I would not return for Thanksgiving, but maybe in the future we will give the typical menu a shot. read more

I loved this bar/restaurant . It is on the 24th floor of the ritz carlton. It had a very bold and delicious menu. We ordered the shrimp and queso dip with comes with fresh hot tostadas, we got the rib eye skewers, amberjack fish and the spinach and beef empanadas. The empanadas were out of this world. Buttery flaky bread stuffed inside. The rib eye skewers were incredible. 3 skewers with a few pieces each with a side of potatoes. The queso dip with cheese was my favorite . Definitely check this place out if you are in the area. The manager Dan is also amazing. He walked my husband and I around the other restaurants there after our dinner. He was kind and truly loved what he does. We appreciated the time he put into making out night out experience very unique. read more

I was blown away by this food at Sendero! Corteza at Sendero serves food inspired by Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, all over Latin and South America all in one place. Not only does it also have an amazing view, there are three different restaurants within it that are uniquely beautiful and intimate depending on the experience you'd like. I dined at Corteza, and kudos the Chef because everything was really so delicious. I really liked the Snapper Zarapeneado (I'm not a big seafood person & it was sooo delicious), the aguachiles, anticuchos (ribeye skewers), and the amazing chocoflan dessert. Definitely recommend checking Sendero out for a special occasion or even if it's just for a cocktail because these views are also just so beautiful! I ordered the Bird of Paradise, and that was delicious. My friends ordered the Palo Alto and the Agave Goddess. We ordered the queso gobernador, scallops, and empanadas. Our table was in front of the kitchen, and we also had a decent view of downtown Los Angeles. The chef Kevin Lezcande (last name may be incorrect) came to our table and brought us a dessert called Dia de los Muertos. He spoke to us and was very cool. That day I got an email and phone call from the restaurant manager to inquire further. He was truly apologetic and seemed already aware that the night did not go as well as it could have for the restaurant. We had a good conversation and he listened attentively to my assessment. I do believe he took my criticism seriously and that improvements will be made. It seems like lots of people enjoy going here based on other reviews, so this was probably a rare stumble and hopefully the changes he talked about making go into effect before their next big event. Paul was nothing but empathetic, open, and gracious during our conversation and he also made it right by me. Everyone makes mistakes, and what matters is how you handle them. This might actually be the best dining experiences I have ever had! I don't normally write reviews but I left here feeling so pleased that I had to write one. When you first walk in you can see how nice the view was the LA area.. but once you get greeted and get to hear about all the food and cocktail choices you can start to get an idea of what flavors you're in for... they have a changing menu depending on the seasons so I'm excited to come back and try the new choices on the menu in the winter. Everything tasted SO fresh and so perfectly seasoned. But on top of all of it, the staff was so incredibly friendly and had given us such good recommendations.
