Came on here to give this restaurant some love as our experience exceeded the expectations set in these reviews. Came here on a Friday night for date night. First impressions: very nice view of DTLA, nice mellow ambiance, and also very empty. There were 2 other tables getting started and 4 other occupied tables by the time we left. Service was great. Our server Jonathon was attentive, down to earth and friendly. I recommend everything that we ordered: -oysters - oysters 3 ways -steak tartar - set on a warm bone marrow -passion fruit ceviche - my favorite app -Chilean sea bass - very fresh and vibrant flavors like the ceviche -18 oz wagyu ribeye - very solid The sides were not needed but we got the esquite and bone marrow. Esquite/corn dish was very hot in temperature and more saucy than expected. We got the Milo for dessert (banana, chocolate and caramel flavors) which was buttery yet not heavy. The music was interested and mostly on Spanish. Overall a nice and private experience. I would dine here again and would recommend it even to non-meat eaters.

This place is absolutely perfect for a celebration or a romantic date. It is inside the Ritz Carlton and has superb views of DTLA. The food and cocktails were amazing and we had a great time. Pictured are some of our dishes and their celebration dessert.

Excellent food, service, and ambiance. My wife and I enjoyed our dinner! We highly recommend making reservations early as this place really gets busy!

Lena at Sendero was definitely an experience. I visited here as a treat for my birthday on a whim. So here it goes: Parking: Parking is difficult. There is a paid lot as it is located next to LA Live, so you may park at the lot and pay for parking there. Or you can park in one of the may other lots surrounding the hotel. Since it was my birthday, I chose to valet which cost me roughly $30 with tip. I would recommend carpooling and valeting as it was a simple drop and pick up without having to walk far, not to mention your probably dressed for a nicer dinner and not a casual night out. Interior/ Ambiance: Ok here is where it gets good. Sendero is located on the 26th floor of the Ritz so you get the panoramic views of Downtown from the bar all the way to the restaurant. Whether your there for dinner or your sitting just grabbing a drink, the views are wonderful. Lighting is slightly hushed with an emphasis on darker yellow tones. This emphasize a mellow yet social atmosphere. When entering the main dining area, there was a live performer playing music which added on to the already mellow vibe by adding a bit of jazz and salsa pieces. Food: I had ordered the empanadas to start, with the Australian wagyu steak, with mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The empanadas were to die for. The crust was flakey and mimicking a fresh baked pie crust. Paired with fresh salsa it was simply divine to partake. The steak was cooked to perfection with that nice crust and juicy medium-rare interior. It was seasoned, however, I did not taste much of the seasoning on my steak. I leaned on their take on the A1 steak sauce which enhanced the steak enough to a point to where I disregarded the seasoning entirely. Overall: The service was great and I was well taken care of especially since I was a solo diner. However, the better question is, would I go back? Probably. I say this because the food didn't wow me enough to warrant a more excited tone. I enjoyed my food, especially the empanadas, however, the main course didn't do enough for me to get excited enough to visit again and try another offering. If you want the views and a good steak in downtown, this can be on your radar. However, it would not be at the top of my list.

Wedge salad was interesting with I think chorizo. The steak was good but served warm, not hot... The elote was salty. The lobster tail was ok. Wouldn't go back. Nice waiter though.

Food is decent, presentation was very nice. Service and ambiance is top notch as is expected for a high end roof top restaurant.

My daughter picked this place for our Christmas dinner. Decent price, nice service, it was very decent for a downtown L.A. restaurant. Some tourist was giving a bad reviews but being a local L.A. resident, this is a decently priced restaurant. I would disregard that review. Who splits meal with a group of adults? What are you 12? If you can't afford it, find some place else for a dining. I ordered the rack of lamb and my daughter ordered the American Wagyu ribeye. Everything was decent.

Came here with my friends on August 22 before the Drake concert. I haven't been since the remodel this year. Wow, the restaurant is extremely beautiful. Super romantic and intimate setting compared to the former restaurant. Our server Kelly was amazing. She was quick with the recommendations, cognizant of the food allergies, and generous with the added chef tastings. She was not an up seller, rather she suggested dishes that made sense in our limited timeframe. She also generously added a dish, cauliflower, which I was curious about. The food is delicious, I recommend the Waygu, Parker rolls, empanadas, and the cauliflower or mushrooms. Not sue why this place only had 3 stars, but it's a hidden gem. Be sure to ask for Kelly!

Beautiful 24th floor DTLA views in the Ritz Carlton hotel. You will pass Corteza, the open kitchen, an Agave bar and their Chef's table before getting to Leña. Warm, inviting decor with panoramic views. Live guitarist playing soft music. Attentive, friendly, great service by Kelly and food was good as well. Fried potato cheese balls - not sure what it was called but chef wanted us to try it & it was good Oysters - hubby said they were extremely fresh Spinach & cheese empanadas - perfectly cooked and tasty White asparagus - these were delicious!! Whipped potato - creamy and yummy Prime bone-in ribeye - perfectly cooked to our liking and flavorful Torte de mils hojas - nice, light and great! We got another treat at the end which was a traditional Argentinian biscuit/cookie that's had a caramel filling with coconut around the edge. Very good! Valet parking is $15 for 1st 2 hours but be sure to get a $5 validation from restaurant. Would we come back? Yep!

You definitely pay for the experience, the provoleta was fantastic, the pure was actually one of my favorite surprises, and the steak was was just fabulous, they had been very attentive and kind. Had a business meeting there and we were given all the space to discuss during and after dinner.

The menu is New American with Chinese influences served as a four-course prix fixe set, with each course having three choices, and optional additions are available. (There is an à la carte menu available in the bar area.) I went very carnivorous on my selections, choosing the beef tongue carpaccio, duck sausage, and beef short rib. There was not a bad dish among these: The tongue was tender, soft, and delicate. The duck sausage was fantastically good as well; served with an apple jam atop Swiss chard, it was a sort of Chinese-Alpine fusion cuisine of which I never envisioned but instantly wanted more. While delicious, the short rib was overshadowed by its cabbage accompaniment. My server told me it takes four days to make that dish, and I would have happily ordered a full dish of just that. The kaffir lime curd dessert was light and balanced, perfect after the heavier meat courses and like a small vacation to Thailand on a plate. The one dish I did not love was the Chongqing fried chicken course I added. The chicken itself ― a boneless leg quarter ― was a large portion and well-prepared, but the sauce covering it was a thick layer of chilis (which, thankfully, were not inedibly hot) and straight oil, lots of oil. Eating so much oil like that made for gastrointestinal discomfort the rest of the night. The soy pickles helped cut the greasiness a bit, but they weren't vinegary enough to get that level of oiliness off the palate. The duck fat rice, though quite good, also did not help much given its fattiness. Given the chance, I definitely would have requested the oil-sauce on the side. I did appreciate the crunchiness of the batter, which never went soggy despite being soaked in that oily puddle for a long time. I did not find any wines by the glass that bowled me over, so I stuck to cocktails, which were good. Service was warm, personable but not intrusive, and brisk, while the room has the comfortable feel of a mid-century modern den complete with well-worn cookbooks on the shelves lining the walls. I would happily return to try the bar menu with cocktails or when the prix fixe options change. At $68 for four courses, Firstborn's prix fixe is one of the best fine dining offers in L.A. right now, and it makes a trek up to Chinatown worthwhile.

My favorites were the shrimp à la casserole, picanha steak with chimichurri sauce, and branzino. Didn't really care for the tostada or Brussels sprouts. Their Brussels sprouts are pretty much only crispy leaves, instead of the traditional hearty sprouts. The passion fruit cheesecake was very good! Drinks were wel-made.
