Happy to have this treasure in Bend. There is a lot to enjoy about this place, the people, food, and ambiance all are worth the trip and hopefully your return visit. No, it is not cheap and if you enjoy a margarita or three it may seem a bit expensive but so is every place in Bend. They have an excellent happy hour so if you are worried about the dollars, drink less or do happy hour. We tried it for the first time and it was great! The food was amazing, lots of options and they were all delicious. The waiters were very nice and relatable. My only thing is that they didn't refill our chips and salsa, we had to ask and I feel any Mexican restaurant gives you those chips like they're unlimited! We got here right before closing so keep that in mind. All in all this place is pricy and the food can be hit or miss. The tableside guacamole that we got was completely unspectacular. Underseasoned and not acidic enough. The cocktails weren't good enough to warrant their price ($12). I was totally prepared to give this place 2 or 3 stars until my entree came. This place was fantastic. The service was amazing and friendly! My margarita(s) were not weak. I was able to get fajitas with tofu!!! This has never been an option for me before!!! I was beyond excited and it tasted delicious. Not greasy and covered in cheese. Actual seasoning and flavor. My jalapeño margarita was spicy but not painfully so. We also got the guacamole fresco which was made at our table. It was so good! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Not to mention that it had lots of parking with indoor and outdoor seating. We will definitely be going back. If there is one tiny piece of criticism I can write, it would be that there is no salt on the table. Or on the chips. With a hankering for Mexican instead of the usual brewpub, I turned to Yelp to see what's cooking. Naturally, I had already bookmarked a few places that seemed good. La Rosa was one. - Nice, small bar, and the tables in the regular seating area look good, too. - Pleasant ambiance, not loud. - Bar service is excellent. - Good happy hour specials. I guess that's a Bend thing, so no surprise there. Food: - Complimentary chips, salsa and bean dip are good. Salsa is tasty but very mild. Refills are yours for the asking. - Pechuga rellena - wow, one of the best chicken dishes I've had in a while, maybe ever. Expertly prepared and seasoned using spinach, mango salsa and bacon. I will have a tough time passing this up on future visits. - Portobella mushroom street tacos excellent. - Black beans, pico and green (cilantro) rice (comes with the rellena entree) also very tasty. My wife (a vegetarian) said she could just order that. The website menu says pinto beans but the black beans were great. - La Rosa has a huge menu with a ton of interesting looking dishes (such as the pechuga rellena) as well as what seems like all the usual suspects: tacos, enchiladas, burritos, etc. Booze: - Red Cactus margarita (happy hour menu). A good drink but maybe not what I'd order again given the other choices. Tastes fairly tame but I suspect that was deceiving in a Long Island Iced Tea/Mai Tai sort of way. Love the look of it. - Suprema margarita (happy hour menu) was more my style. Definitely does not taste tame. I like the fine, crusted salt on the glass (both margaritas). - I would definitely order the Suprema again if during happy hour, but I also look forward to trying some of the choices on the main menu with higher end tequilas, such as the Horny Toad. - Margarita Mix. Some of the margaritas (such as the Red Cactus) contain a mix, often is seen as a mark of an inferior drink. While I don't know how they make it or what's in it, according to the full menu here at La Rosa the mix is 'house-made' and that has to be better than the stuff you buy on the low rent shelf of the liquor aisle. So, I wouldn't necessarily pass up a particular margarita because it includes a mix. - A few good beers on tap, including Boneyard IPA. I'm normally a beer drinker and am happy that many non-brewpub Bend restaurants feature local craft beer on tap, but I also like good margaritas. You will find them at La Rosa. - Lots of tequila choices. After examining the bottles above us at the bar, such as the Hornitos Black, we asked for a recommendation for the best whiskey barrel aged tequila: Don Julio 1942. Super nice, with a vanilla nose. This is not one you toss back in one shot, especially given the price. The bartender was very forthcoming with information on the tequilas he had to offer, and we appreciated that. Overall, La Rosa is one of the better Mexican restaurants I've been to anywhere, not just in Bend (full disclosure: as I implied above, this is the first Bend Mexican place I've tried). Nice place, great food and drinks, friendly bartenders and servers. Parking is easy in the common lots or the street. I forgot to check for wi-fi but the Yelp page says no. I'll be back. read more

The best margaritas in Bend. The best fresh table-side made Guacamole in Bend. Wonderful Tequila infusions. Great unique dinner dishes. Wonderful patio. Great staff. There is no place like La Rosa. It's a must stop while in Bend. We have been to both La Rosa locations, over a dozen times. Every single experience has been positive. My sisters go to is the Camarones tropical, I've had quesadilla, fajitas, carne asada, burritos. It's all great. Including the bar staff, and the waitstaff has also treated us a few times. read more

It's near our house so, we frequent it often as it's convenient. Online ordering - when it's working - is also really convenient. Pre-COVID we've always had nice service when dining in. Favorites of ours are various burritos, fajitas (really heavy on the onions though so warning if you're not a fan), pollo con verduras (chicken with veggies). Kids meal options are pretty standard and nice to have these options; our kiddo likes the quesadilla with rice and beans. No chips in the takeout which is a bummer but hopefully will get back to eating in safely eventually. read more

We were somewhat disappointed on our second visit to La Rosa after COVID. Our first time was much better. First we asked our server to give us a drink menu. Server replied you have to go over to the window and read it. We had to get up from our table and go read it. Our whole party of four! Then, we were only given one entree menu to read. Then on the menu entrees were crossed out with pen and the prices were all raised. We were served chips and salsa. It was good but when we asked for more chips they said there would be a charge for a refill. Come on who does that? I ordered prawn enchiladas. When you say prawns it better be prawns.,it wasn't. The shrimp was all cut up in tiny pieces with a bunch of filler stuff at $18! And my margarita was $11.25. Small and average at best. My husband had steak . It was average as well. In town for a conference with my mom and two daughters. Wanted to come back and try La Rosa again. Still fantastic. Had the jalapeño mango margarita... excellent! Fun little restaurant if you have someone local to help you find it. Parking in back that probably gets filled up on busy nights. We (4 of us) enjoyed several different enchilada dishes that were nicely done and presented. The Taco Ensalada was very generous. Mexican martinis - good. Food - very good. Sitting outside on a beautiful day - great. Service - quite good. I was the most impressed with the fish tacos. My favorite so far in Central Oregon... and I have actually had them in most of the Mexican places I have been - and these are fantastic. La Rosa is at the top of the list whenever I get a hankering for Mexican food while hanging in Bend... they just have a great feel, great food, and I do love sitting outside. Ate there this evening. Had good service, but the food was definitely wanting. I ordered the Chicken Mole Poblano, and requested corn rather than flour tortillas that came with the meal. The plate was piping hot and that helped keep the food warm on a cold evening - a bit cold even inside the restaurant. The chicken came with rice and beans in addition to the tortillas, and they were rather run of the mill. But the chicken mole was quite disappointing. I would rank the mole poblano in the lower quartile of all such sauces I've tasted, and that's quite a few. And the dryness and lack of any flavor for the chicken couldn't be disguised by the sauce. I'll go elsewhere for my next Mexican meal in this area. read more

Bend is fairly limited on Mexican restaurants, and this one definitely comes out on top. However--and you traditionalists pay attention here--this is not authentic Mexican cuisine. Its a high-end restaurant. It's definitely Americanized, but delicious nonetheless. The menu has a wide variety of items for you to select from, and they are all great. I recommend the enchiladas espinaca (spinach enchiladas). I gave it one star less than the perfect rating solely because of the pricing. It could come down just a tad for the quality that you receive. read more

We ended up coming here after walking out of the other location. Almost didn't go to the second location (NW crossing) but it was my birthday and I kept hearing how good this place was (but "really, really expensive) I'm really glad we gave the NW crossing location a chance. The food was spectacular! Not your typical Mexican food. It's fresh, and it doesn't have that generic taste of red sauces. Everything was SPOT on. There were so many choices on the menu it was really hard to choose what to eat. The margarita menu was really good to! We will definitely be back! read more

The new La Rosa in NW Crossing has much more room than the old one on College Way. And it has a nice outdoor seating area for those warm summer days. read more

Service is consistently terrific. From the Hostess, the people who bring water, chips and salsa:bean dip, and the wait staff. The margaritas are my family's favorite in Bend. Love the food. La Rosa is my favorite restaurant in Bend. I like the atmosphere. They have outdoor seating and a decent bar area. Service is always good. The Burrito Fresco is absolute perfection! Also it is such a huge portion I take half home and have the other half for lunch the next day. read more

Now I remember why I haven't been here in a few years. Unfortunately the chips and salsa were the highlight of the meal. Painfully slow service even though the restaurant was not even close to being busy. Staff was pleasant, but seemed to be too busy with other duties to give their tables attentive service. Drink order incorrect. Didn't want to ask about correcting due to the time it took to get drinks in the 1st place. Food was meh at best. My salad had chosen protein, other listed toppings, and barely any lettuce. The lettuce looked like it would have been a garnishment for one of their other dishes. My son said he was disappointed in his burrito and by the looks of the dish, that was not surprising. The 3 different dishes we ordered all looked and tasted sad and unappealing. Bend has much better options for Mexican food. read more

I'm a travel nurse in Oregon for 13 weeks. Every time I've gone to Bend for a backpacking trip I've stopped here afterwards. It's always been my motivation for finishing a trail. I've always had an amazing server every time. I wish I knew everyone's name but the latest one I believe was Sabrey that rides a Ducati. Service is always superb, drinks are sooo delicious and food is fresh and tasty! I absolutely love this spot! They have a covered patio so you can bring your furry friend and they will bring you a water bowl for them. Lastly, they have bean dip they give you with salsa. If I haven't sold you already, that should've done it. read more

The worst food I have had in while! We had seen the reviews of this place and really wanted to try it. I love Mexican food and and am still searching for the best Mexican restaurant with both great food and great seating. This was hands down the worst food. Our family ordered an appetizer, 2 adult, and one child's dish. I get the distinct impression that everything they served came in a can or box. The appetizer I had been wanting to try was the Chicharrones. It has a tamarind sauce. It was OK. I was hoping for the more authentic and fresh made Chicaorrones and not the ones they stock at the regular grocery stores. Unfortunately they were like the Baken-ets or Guerrero pork cracklings you would find at a gas station convenience store. The "tamarind sauce" was just Worcestershire sauce, which does contain tamarind. They did bring refried beens with the chips and I do love refried beens. These tasted just like Rosarita brand, not house made or anything close. The Mole was disgusting! The flavor was acrid and clearly burnt. The texture was very grainy and it had orange grease floating on the top. We sent it back. The second adult dish was a combo with the chile relleno and tamale. The chile relleno had corn in it and I was curious to see how it would taste. The corn added a texture and flavor that really detracted from the usual cheesiness; I also noticed that the corn kernels were whole, like something from a can, not corn a person would cut from an ear of corn.  The tamale was served without any corn husk or covering and had a smooth exterior like the factory produced ones that are made in a plastic tube. It tasted it too. The sauce on both were unremarkable. The kids meal was a bean burrito and french fries. The bean burrito was served with very little beans in the and open at BOTH ends and leaking all over with cheese melted on the top. Why one earth would you make a kids meal that is messy and hard to eat? Get a clue! To round out our awful dining experience the fries were completely soft and rubbery. The service was so so, and the waitress asked "How is your food looking?"; not how is your food tasting, a real sign this place was made to instagram and the food should not be consumed. There just wasn't a single redeeming dish in all four of the things we ordered. Please do yourself a favor and go anywhere but here. read more
