Loved this place and their unique spin on Mexican food. Had a sit down dinner and another time happy hour in the bar. Great selection and prices. Bartenders are nice and entertaining. Drinks can be really strong so beware, the traditional margarita is excellent. The place fills up really fast so either get there early or have a reservation. The kitchen is very accommodating for special requests and the guacamole made table side is wonderful. The meats are tender and flavorful. Not only do they bring you chips and salsa upon being sat but some bean dip too.... nice touch! Will be back to try more items on the menu, I was not certain what to expect given the previous reviews, but I was so glad we gave it a try, because it was a wonderful surprise! read more

2 visits, food excellent, service was not on the 2nd visit. Waited a total of over 40 minutes just to have my order taken...things happen, I get it, but no service until a couple of really nice regulars point out that I haven't been acknowledged??? Again, food is excellent, the 1st night's service was too, but feeling a little disappointed and somehow feel like it was my fault I got seated and no one took my order, or even looked at me while serving tables around me...Hopefully, management says something so that they can figure it out, if this is common practice anywhere, it's no good, I doubt it is here, but 40 minutes is 40 minutes...5 star for the food, cannot star the 2nd night, it was that bad...no offer of any comp, just a "sorry about that". read more

The girls bussing tables were awesome. The server was not welcoming and made me feel like I didn't deserve to be there. Food was great but service was just terrible. It's funny because I'm a server too and I completely understand having a bad moment but this was horrible. She also did not wait to get my friends order and walked away while she was still talking. My friend tried to order and the waitress proceeded to say that the cook was already making the wrong food for her even though she never had a chance order. We've been coming here regularly since 2013 and tonight, for the first time ever, in the midst of relaxing and talking with our friends after dinner we were told others were waiting for our table and we needed to leave. We were all somewhat surprised so we left the table and continued to talk while standing a few feet away in an open space. I spoke with the person who asked us to leave and told her we were disappointed and unhappy with the service because there was an empty table for 6 right next to us. There was a group of 3 of us on a Saturday night and we waited 25 mins. There one one other group waiting and that's it. Once we sat down the server came over promptly to take our drink order. She was very nice and had a big smile! The red margarita was good but also was just a bright red slightly sweet margarita. But still, a good marg. I ordered then Arroz con pollo, chicken with veggies and rice, topped with cheese. It was very authentic and homemade. It was honestly such a perfect symphony of chicken veggies and rice. I know chicken and rice might sound lame but this was far from average. The cheese made it so rich and comforting and the variety of veggies definitely elevated the flavor. Fresh zucchini and mushrooms! Avocado on top too. It was a good portion I had leftovers. My man got the burrito he finished the whole thing! Wow is is such a hungry strong yummy man. It was a very well crafted ground beef burrito, the beef wasn't too salty but still had a lot of flavor allllll up innnit. It came with that refried cheesy LARDED up bean stuff that everyone loves. It especially good here. They leave some full bean in it too. WE STAN FULL BEAN ACTION, U BETTER WERK BEAN! they also serve the beans in the beginning with chips and salsa, the salsa is very spicy and very fresh, has yummy onion and cilantro pieces. I was looking forward to some good Mexican food for lunch today and stopped in at La Rosa's because they advertise gluten free options. Being gluten intolerant it's nice to find a good restaurant that has a few choices. When we arrived I asked the woman who seated us (possibly the manager or owner since she was not wearing a uniform?) if they had a gluten free menu. She told me everything was gluten free expect the flour tortillas and the mole. Sweet! Someone brought us chips and salsa and we started munching while reading the menu. When the waitress came to take our order I told her I was gluten intolerant and she immediately asked if we wanted some gluten free chips. What! She said the chips were not gluten free and she even went back to double check. Sure enough What we were told by the woman who sat us was incorrect. She didn't know what she was talking about or didn't think gluten intolerance was a bit deal. The waitress who had to inform us of the gluten containing chips was friendly, apologetic, and did seem to know what she was talking about. I'm glad she told me about the chips, however since I was mislead by the first person I felt I could not trust the menu or the knowledge of the staff so we left. I had eaten quite a few chips before hearing the news they weren't gluten free. In a few hours I will have diarrhea which may last through to tomorrow. It will take a couple of weeks for my intestines to heal completely. The thoughtlessness of one person is going to make the next few days very unpleasant for me. La Rosa may have good food, but if you are gluten intolerant I wouldn't trust the place. I know I will not go back. read more

This was my first visit to La Rosa. Upon arriving, my wife and I were greeted with a smiling host and she promptly seated us in a booth (which was our request). I liked how clean the restaurant was and the servers were attentive. Prices were reasonable (I was expecting them to be a bit higher since we were in the NWX neighborhood). I ordered the three enchilada combination (cheese, ground beef and pork) and was pleased with the flavor of them all. I especially liked that the pork was small chunks rather than shredded. It's a real bummer to see this place go down hill, but their drinks have long been their selling point and now they seem at best, mediocre. I've been there many times over many years, live very close by, but their one selling point, strong decent drinks, are just not up to snuff anymore. I took a shot at one of Bend's many Mexican restaurants not sure what to expect. I had just moved up from San Diego and was looking for a dinner spot for my family. And... I don't know what to say. It just wasn't good. There wasn't a single redeeming part of the meal for me. Everything from the chips and salsa to the classic tex-mex entrees were just kinda bland. And I hate giving poor reviews, but it wasn't just me. Our entire party thought the food was par at best. I'm not sure why this is. Maybe they're catering to north-westerners who shy away from spicier foods or if they're really trying to go middle of the road with their clientele but I just doesn't have the flavorful punch that I expect from mexican and tex-mex in general. That being said, their staff was still attentive, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and seating seemed plentiful. Daughter had back to back Lacrosse games last Saturday so in between games, we popped in here for lunch. We are "Eastsiders" and this place definitely caters to and has the preppy feel of the "Westside". But that is NOT a bad thing. In fact, I love the little NW Crossing business area. And if I had the $$$ and could convince my wife to move, I'd be quite happy living over here. All that aside, this little cafe is quite deceiving in size. Upon entering, one is struck by how roomy it really is. And during the warmer months, I am sure the patio seating is quite pleasant. I really grooved on the upscale decor and and feel of the place. Not posh or ritzy. But definitely different from your typical Mexican food establishment. Making a beeline for the restroom, I was pleased at the cleanliness. And for those who are germ-a-phobes (like myself) you need not open the door to get out with paper towel in hand....trying to make the 3 point shot from the doorway. This place has cool little foot cup things to pull the door open with your toe! Okay, so we were promptly seated in a corner booth. Chips and salsa were there in moments. Along with a dish of warm re-fried beans. YUM. It was biting cold out last Saturday and that hit the spot right away. I noticed a gal dining on a bowl of what appeared to be a delicious looking soup and I inquired about it. She was very pleasant and I opted to go for a cup myself. It was a chicken soup and oh man....when it came out.....it was all I could do to eat like a civilized person. I so wanted to tip that cup back and just chug down the broth once all the yummy bites were gone. Son went for the breakfast chorizo burrito. Wife had a taco. I went for pork enchilada. Presentation was fantastic! Food was delicious. Price? Uh...well....it's not cheap on the Westside!!! And portions are not what you normally expect from Mexican food places that typically serve you a platter of food. Still, for the atmosphere and quality of food, I'd go back here in a heartbeat. It's not that I felt ripped off. This really is a step above your typical Mexican food restaurant. I've since heard they have some killer margaritas, a table side guacamole that is to die for AND that their happy hour specials can be quite reasonable. Awesome! I have been a fan since they were next to the college. If anything they have gotten better since moving to NWX. We make it for dinner at least once a month. Every visit starts with an immediate serving of warm chips with salsa and beans. Their salsa is perfect with an undertone of roasted chilis! I may start buying it by the quart. Everything is fresh and prepared perfectly. Nothing is greasy or over seasoned. The happy hour is a great deal and the vegetable empanadas are delicious and filling. We love the vegetable fajitas, spinach enchiladas, and chili relleno. The food is all reasonably priced. Our beverage bill sometimes exceeds our food cost. We most frequently sit at the bar. Roger is great at the bar and very attentive. He gives good pours and has an excellent knowledge of tequila. Even when the place is slammed he always has a conversation and keeps an eye out for your needs. La Rosa has a super tequila selection along with some good tequila flights that are a good value. The La Rosa Gold Margarita is freaking awesome but a little spendy at $11. Dos Equis, Pacifico, and Negra Modela are available on tap. read more

Not the same restaurant it was in the old location. The food here is overpriced and not a good value. I always struggle with $20 Mexican food that basically is beans and rice and a small portion of non exotic protein. I think you can get a much better value at Parilla Grill not far away. I have been here several times and have been disappointed by the service too. They like tot turn table over quickly but at those prices some time should be afforded the diners. This place gets great reviews and I love Mexican food. 6:30 on a Thursday, there's a wait, but really no place to wait without the "fishbowl" feeling. I checked in with Matt the host, fifteen minute wait. I went back to ask Matt if he needed our name, he said no, he knows who we are. Great. When our table was ready, Matt wasn't there. The gal filling in took our word for it that we were next. Thank you. Waitress was wonderful with special orders from the kids. Food was so-so. Nothing magical about any of our dishes. My pork enchiladas with tomatillo sauce was fine, taco special was fine. Bean and cheese burritos and a quesadilla upgrade to a "grown-up" size was $12. The highlight was the fried ice cream. We went to La Rosa based off of the good reviews here on Yelp, which is what makes me feel compelled to share my experience. I have to begin by saying that Mexican food has always been a safe choice for us, having our favorite dishes, a chicken taco salad and pollo asado that has never led us astray at any restaurant we have tried. As surprised as I am by it myself, I have found a place that has changed my mind. The pollo asado here was served with what looked like the kind of chicken you buy already cooked and readymade for salads. It tasted just that way as well. Completely bland. Even the mole verde couldn't save how bland the chicken tasted. I am just happy the dish came with avocados that I could eat with each bite of chicken. It also came with white rice, which didn't make sense to me in a Mexican dish. My boyfriend's taco salad was okay, but once again just seemed bland. I would describe my experience as a Mexican restaurant taking americanization a little too far. Definitely not an authentic Mexican restaurant. Sad to say that we were entirely disappointed and will not be returning. read more

3rd time back or maybe more. I had the Mariscada Scallops, shrimp, clams, and mussels mixed with peppers Pasilla, mushrooms, zucchini, corn and green olives. All smothered in a rich roasted tomato and basil sauce, served on a bed of our house rice. The drink of choice was the Mexican Martini. It was amazing. The Carnitas de Puerco was an incredible dish of lean tasty succulent port dancing in sauteed onions and peppers with mid-spicy green mole sauce (ask for extra). It was one of the few places I could go to and forget that I was in the a town that had received 12 inches of snow overnight. Delicious margaritas, entrees, burritos - even the table salsa is special and unique. If you're traveling through central Oregon and want to avoid eating at run-of-the-mill "American dining establishments" such as McDonald's, Red Robin, and so forth, try La Rosa. I have been living in Orange County, California for quite some time. My parents and brother live in Bend. In So Cal I have been to loads of Mexican restaurants both good and bad, so I am pretty picky--but willing to try new places. Upon visiting Bend for the holidays my parents decided to take me to La Rosa in the Northwest Crossing area. While the small "main street" area looked almost deserted, La Rosa was open and inviting. The dining room has spacious tall ceilings and the decor includes clean bold colors. As I cruised through their menu one of their dishes caught my eye--I am a mole fan. I asked the waitress if the chicken enchiladas with the mole sauce were popular. She said yes, and then went the extra mile and came back from the kitchen with a small dish that had the mole sauce in it so that I could try it before ordering the entree. The mole was great and I was sold. I used the extra mole and put it over my rice. We also ordered the fresh tableside guacamole which was tasty! The food was excellent and the service was friendly. I will visit Bend often and will happily go back to La Rosa with husband, friends and family in tow! read more

A beautiful Central Oregon day highlighted by lunch on the patio. Happy hour starts at 1pm. So, yes! Table comes with chips and salsa, and a new one for me, refried bean dip - very good. Guacamole prepared at the table was also good. The shrimp wrapped in bacon was tasty if overdone. Empanadas got mixed reviews but the fish tacos were a hit. One subtraction, a kid meal was forgotten by the waitress. But it was nuggets and there was plenty to eat otherwise. Shall return. read more

We tried this place tonight on a trip back through Bend to Redding. It had four stars on Yelp and we thought Mexican sounded good for dinner. Unfortunately, we were a little disappointed. We were seated quickly and were given bean dip, salsa and chips. The salsa tasted smoky and like tomato sauce. We had multiple staff come around refilling water and chips, which was nice. The food took quite a while to come out. It seemed like maybe the kitchen was backed up because we had a few servers apologize to us. I was surprised that you had to pay extra for sour cream. I asked what came with the chimichanga and they said it had chicken and cheese but no salsa, sour cream, avocado, etc. Overall the staff were very nice and on too of it. Westside location has been hit or miss lately. Nice patio area when weather permits and they bring out the heaters on cooler fall nights. My fave is the halibut in a mushroom sauce and also the flat iron steak is good. The margaritas are awesome! Try the tamarind or the X-rated! read more

Busy Friday evening and got seated after a very brief wait for a table. Ordered food including a appetizer. Appetizer showed up and was super good! I totally recommend the peppers with the chorizo and cheese stuffing wrapped with bacon. Chips and salsa are served. Bonus is they come with beans. The staff kept these coming without question. All of the main entrees were very good! The rice was superb in my opinion, it seems to be hit and miss at most places. The beans were great. The picadillo beef was tender and flavorful. Our waitress got us some churros for dessert. Holy smokes! They were awesome! My biggest pet peeve is having a empty water glass. That never happened here. I wish more places understood what good service is. I would make this a regular place if i lived in Bend. Instead i will make it a stop for dinner when i am in town. read more

This was a great little find by a friend who is just starting out on yelp. Located in a tiny strip mall next to a Chevron gas station (which is disturbing). But don't let it dissuade you from coming here especially after reading all rave reviews from past yelpers who have dined here. The restaurant is small and usually filled with locals. We ordered margaritas right away which came with a pineapple wedge. Yikes! I think they should serve the pineapple in a shot glass! read more
