Street taco and rice, no garnish.

La Santisima. This is one of the top two places I send people when they ask about good Mexican. When my husband and I first moved in together some 14 years ago, this place was called La Condesa, and it was a quick walk from our house. It was a tiny shop with unbelievable quesadillas and a salsa bar that took up nearly a quarter of the dining area square footage. It changed names, not owners or recipes. It grew in fame, and space, and they added more decor. Then they moved to a bigger, much trendier location, but they've always stayed true to their vibe and their cuisine. Coming here has always felt like going home. Get the chips, the guac, the tacos, the quesas, visit the salsa bar 100 times, try a cocktail or stick to their unique horchata. You truly can't go wrong here. It's remained one of the best Mexican places the valley has to offer, and I hope it stays around for years to come.

Not gonna lie, I had no idea why this place was this hyped up on Reddit. Food was alright, but everything was just crazy style expensive. Honestly, the free chips were the best part of the meal. Maybe there was something else on the menu that everyone else goes crazy for but for me it was just pretty run of the mill. Kudos for the large salsa bar tho, so many different ones to try, that was genuinely pretty cool.

Fully stoked I finally tried this place on a trip to phoenix. Probably the best fish taco I've ever had. Everything was really great. The art and ambiance were spectacular! And my server was busy but very nice. Total A+

Friends, La Santisima is the SPOT!! Amazing ambiance, great food, great salsa bar. Many different flavors, options, and sauces. The Menu here is huge, see pictures!!!! Jenny our server is amazing and customer focused, making sure everything is perfect. Will definitely return, super impressed!!! Grade: A+++

Super cute spot with unique tacos! The decor is really cool too. The guac was amazing, it has cranberries in it which were a surprisingly delicious complement. We had the shark meat taco, the Arabic style taco, a very unique but good shrimp taco with Jamaica salsa, and a mole taco. All were phenomenal!

I haven't been to this place in probably 10 years since it was a tiny little restaurant in a strip mall. I loved it then and decided to come for lunch and was pleasantly air at both the new location and the upgraded menu. The ambiance is amazing - between the art and the swing seat at the bar. I love the vibe And the menu has been expanded with a ton of really cool Mexican inspired tacos and food that are really unique. They even have a separate vegan/vegetarian menu. The tacos we ordered were all flavorful and the meat was perfectly cooked. Shark tacos, mole-based tacos, Argentinian beef. So many interesting combinations. And best of all, they still have the amazing salsa bar that I remembered. Lots of good spicy options if you like it hot like I do. And last but not least, service was friendly and efficient. Still love this place, and maybe even more than I used to.

This place had really good reviews and we wanted an authentic AZ experience. Pluses- definitely the decor. 5 stars! Super cool dia de los muertos motif. The guac was really good and I liked the salsa bar. I didn't like the carne asada taco. It really was disappointing. The shrimp taco was quite tasty. Really liked the beans and rice but the portion was rather small. The menu is really overwhelming and I think if they rewrote it/ basically said these are all the options but you can have them as tacos, burros, etc it would be easier to follow. It's literally the longest menu I've ever seen! Also there was only one waitress so it took kind of a while to get things. Overall positive experience but some things could be better.

I have eaten here only once so far. I'll definitely be back. This restaurant has some amazingly good food. The black mole tacos are to die for...but I'm getting ahead of myself. The ambience is interesting. I'm not sure how to describe it. I encourage you to check it out yourself. We had great service. Our server was friendly and attentive. I'm not a tequila drinker so I can only say that the list of tequilas they serve is impressive. Back to the food. It was all very tasty. I highly recommend giving La Santisima a visit.

Great place, great decor, food is incredible. Service was ok. The menu is frankly overwhelming lol- Never seen so many options! Will be back next year

Found a decent Mexican spot! Great service and a nice atmosphere. The guacamole was flavorful and delicious. It wasn't too much where we could get full too :) The chicken bowl mole was rich and smokey with just the right amount of spice. The asada taco was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The Mahi Mahi Santisima Special taco was delicious!! The beans and rice were also delicious. The only disappointing things we had was the Margaritas and the salsa bar. The Tamarin lacked any real flavor and they both were pretty weak. The cups were tiny and really couldn't get any salsa.

Love this place. Hadn't been in a minute and the menu has expanded. The motif is great. Our wait staff was perfect with great recommendations. I had two tacos - I always get the shrimp, which is my favorite- and added a new one. Don't skip on the horchata- it's my fave in the valley. Cool joint, great art work. The bar has swings. I mean, what more do you want?

    Cazuela

This was honestly one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had....ive never and I mean NEVER have not finished a plate at a restaurant. I was served a COLD dish with 3 pieces of chicken, 3 pieces of chili and a BUNCH of beans and rice smothered in a god awful white cream sauce.....definitely won't be coming back. The only good thing about this meal was the agua de horchata....that was pretty good!

    Alex B.

I'm not sure if I've just been living under a rock or why I haven't been aware of this place having vegan options!! The location in downtown Glendale is closed so don't drive over there if maps shows it as an option! (Made that mistake and had to drive another 25 min to the correct, new address) The waiter was really kind and let me know the vegan cheese options they had and were reassuring about making it modified. The only thing is that the refried beans are made with chicken broth so if they ask black beans or refried beans after ordering something made vegan, it's because the refried beans are NOT. Staff let me know after already ordering the refried beans which is why I crossed it out in the picture as I can't review that lol. Tons of salsa options, great decor. Will be back!

Growing up on San Diego taco shop street food, I have a high bar for Mexican food, and this place hits home in a way nothing else around here does. The selection is unbeatable -- there's literally nothing on the menu that isn't good! I used to eat here one to three times a week. My work schedule changed and now it kills me that I can't get out as often, since they're in central Phoenix and I'm out in far East Gilbert. But trust me -- this place is absolutely worth the drive. The birria is my go-to on anything, and I'll often do a 50/50 split on the nachos or the fries -- both are killer! I remember when they were just a taco truck, and the food was amazing then too. Moving to a brick-and-mortar didn't change a thing -- same incredible quality, same fantastic customer service every single visit. Worth your money and worth the trip, even if you're not vegan! It may not be the healthiest ingredients, but the flavor more than makes up for it. Go taste it for yourself -- you won't regret it! Want me to tweak anything else?

I was glad we got there when we did because shortly after we put our order in there was a line almost to the door. It is counter service so you kind of need to know what you are getting and everything looks so yummy it was super hard to decide. I got the AZ burrito with birria, which is made with jackfruit. It's meant to be like pulled pork. It was huge and very messy. They tortilla was very rubbery but the filling was good and I think there were French fries in there? Maybe that is what makes it an AZ burrito? Overall the flavor was good but it needed something else like beans or guac. It just tasted very one note. Also I got the horchata. It was delicious. My mom got the surf and turf taco. Again the tortilla was tough to eat so she got a fork and a plate and tore into it. This one had the "asada" soy steak and then breaded and fried pieces of cauliflower. The fake meat was not that good. It was too salty and so was the rice. The cauliflower although tasty was so big it was hard to eat. Overall it was good but not as amazing as I had wanted it to be. I likely won't go out of my way to come back.

Now for the reason for the two stars...the crispy rice. The bites are soooo big I had to cut them in half in order to eat it (good thing) because when I broke the second one in half; I found a black HAIR about the same length of a finger cooked in the rise (I'm blonde by the way). My spicy margarita was also top notch! However, the salmon left a bad taste in my mouth!
