I found out the BEST TACO place!! This place is a gourmet taco heaven for vegetarians as well as meat lovers. We got seated right away and our server got us chips and told us to help ourselves do the salsa bar, that has more than 12 different types of salsa. They even had a peanut salsa and pecan salsa!! Every salsa on that bar was so good. My fav was the strawberry salsa and this hot habanero salsa. Hubby tried the street taco plate, which was delicious. You can choose any 3, he has the chicken Tinga, Barbacoa and shrimp. I had vegetarian tacos, one was with deep fried avocado dipped in beer batter served over cabbage and this amazing sauce. Also tried their Santisima vegetarian and cauliflower taco. It was so good!! They serve their quesadilla deep fried, my son had that enchilada style. It was huge, he loved it. Really conflicted on how to rate this place because the food and service were both 4/5 but the atmosphere and general appearance inside was really off putting. I dropped by La Santisima with a friend on a Sunday night around 6:00 pm. Parking was a bit interesting, but thankfully we were able to get a spot on the side of the building. Now, I'd been to the Glendale location a couple of times earlier and once I entered into the Phoenix location, I was at a loss for words -- in the worst way possible. It was dimly lit, dingy, and dark and had a general look of disarray and chaos. We were seated quickly and were able to put our orders in while we sampled the salsas and some of my favorites from the Glendale location were nowhere to be found. In terms of the food, I got the veggie quesa and my friend got a burro. I have gotten the same quesa at the Glendale location before and it just came out as a massive, well adorned, well though out plate that I felt like was a behemoth of a dish. The quesa at this location was noticeably smaller and did not have any of the accouterments/garnishes that the quesa at the Glendale location had. My friends burro was the same in the sense that it was literally a plain looking burrito cut in two on a plate. The food itself tasted good and our server was great, but the atmosphere was just so dim and dark that it really detracted from our experience. I took my son out for a nice dinner. We walked in no greeter, waited to be seated for 10 minutes, finally sat ourselves. Still waited another ten minutes to be greeted and offered service. Stopped here for some tacos last night! It didn't look particularly busy but it did look like they were pretty understaffed. We had to wait a bit but totally didn't mind. They have SO many salsas at their salsa bar. The chipotle one was my personal fave. The peanut one was super unique. I did wish they labeled how spicy each one was haha. I also got a prickly pear margarita that was massive, I couldn't even finish it! My husband got a beer that came in a cute little individual bucket of ice. I was pleased to see SO many vegan/vegetarian taco options. I'm so used to only having 1-2 options so it was hard to choose. I had our server help me haha. I don't remember the 3 I got! My husband got carne asada. While waiting we decided we wanted to eat at home instead and got it to go. It was really yummy! I would totally come back here! I just returned to this restaurant and now that they've expanded, things have changed for the worse. The service was abysmal, the place is so dark you can't see, it smells bad, and the lighting consists of some spotlights tacked onto the ceiling that shine right into your eyes if you are unlucky enough to sit at a bad table. I ordered my usual tacos and the cheese shells were burned, the tortilla chips were oily, and the meat quality was tough and chewy. The prices have also skyrocketed! Waited for over 40 minutes to be seated, even though we had a reservation. Literally zero staff were on hosting duty. There were several other parties just standing around by the entrance with no idea what was going on. None of the other staff ever came up front to check people in. My boyfriend and I visited recently because we both wanted some good authentic Mexican food. It was my first visit but he's been many times before. Even on a Monday at 130, which we thought would be after the lunch rush, we still had about a 20 minute wait. And then when we were seated, we waited another 15ish minutes just for someone to wait on us - no water or drinks in that entire period. However, we made about 3 trips up to the salsa bar, almost just to pass time, but also because he is addicted to the peanut sauce. But luckily it was all uphill from there. Once our server did come to us, we placed our order right away. I got an orange Margarita (funky, but good) and he got the gigantic horchata, which was sweet, but just not really for me. I decided on the street taco plate - 1 chicken, 1 carne asada, and 1 chilango, plus rice and beans. My boyfriend got a chicken quesadilla. For street style tacos, it was definitely a good amount of food. And his quesadilla was gigantic. But oozing with cheese, so we knew it was going to be good. It was my only meal of the day, but we both finished our plates and didn't have a single regret in the world after that. My absolute faveeee tacos in all of Arizona. I haven't tried their specialty tacos, but their al pastor street taco is HEAVENLY. I don't have any pictures either because I can never wait that long to dive in. Never had an isse with it before. We still anticipated for them to honor the coupon but the server stated she called the manager and they advised they would be unable to honor it. If a coupon had been used in the chat before there shows history that it was used. We hadnt used it and showed that. We only ate one of them so the staff offered to take the other back and did void it from our bill. Just a shame that probably went straight to the trash. We won't be back. We ordered a variety of vegan tacos and they were fantastic! Made the mistake of ordering the TLALOC taco as vegan and it came out with cheese. Asked to have it remade and it came without cheese, rice, and beans. It came back with only cactus and carmelized onions so I obviously left that taco behind. Idk if it was in retaliation or not, so I would not recommend sending anything back or asking for anything changed from what is on the menu. The Cauliflower Asada was my favorite! Second favorite was the Mexica Ahuacatl (beer battered avacado). I also tried the Green Chili pork taco and it was good but it was so wet that you couldn't pick it up to eat so would recommend to order the green chili pork as a burrito. Surprisingly, I prefered the vegan Cauliflower Asada taco over the pork. You gotta try it!! read more

They have a full menu, however it is all about the tacos when you come here. The menu is extensive, and they have unique taco selections such as shark, mole, marlin, and cactus to go along with more traditional options. I had a three taco plate with rice and beans. My choices were chicken mole, azteca tinga, and pacific battered fish. The tacos were easily some of the best I have ever had. This even includes several trips to Mexico.
