We've been coming to this place since I was a teenager (it's been over ten years) and this place provides some of the most authentic and tasty Taiwanese food in SGV. Whenever I miss home, I can always count on SinBala's dishes to make me feel comforted. Some of my favorite dishes from this place are sticky rice (油飯), pumpkin rice noodle (金瓜米粉), Taiwanese sausage (香腸), radish cake (蘿蔔糕), chicken rolls (雞捲), fried chicken leg rice (炸雞腿飯), pork stew noodle (肉羹麵), green onion scallion pancake (蔥油餅), cold noodle (涼麵), and my sister's favorite - oyster pancake (蛤仔煎). This is one of my favorite Taiwanese restaurants! However, I do have to say that there are other places in the area that serve much more authentic Taiwanese food....but nonetheless, I really like SinBala! The wait times for this place can get pretty bad. The restaurant itself is not very big, their tables are small and placed very close to one another...this means no privacy! Their menu here is very extensive. I've been here multiple times, but haven't had the chance to try too many of their things...however, it is because I usually order my favorite items. This includes: Chicken leg with rice: they batter the chicken pretty well. The batter is crispy, but the chicken isn't too dry. This is served with a side of scrambled eggs, steamed cabbage, and carrots/corn/peas. The portion is very good, it will definitely fill you up. Sausage with grounded garlic: They are known for their Taiwanese sausages. If you're craving for some noodles, chicken, or pork...then they offer a side order of their sausage for $2 (they offer other toppings besides garlic like chocolate, jam, etc). If you're looking for a full meal, then they have a Taiwanese Sausage dish with rice. This also comes with the scrambled eggs, steamed cabbage, and corn/carrots/peas. Cold chicken noodle with peanut sauce: this is perfect for those hot summer days! It is very refreshing! The cold noodles with the shredded (papaya?) and peanut sauce compliments each other well. I highly recommend this dish! I haven't been to any other place that has matched this type of dish! Other than these, I've had other items, but they didn't stand out as much to me. I've ordered their shaved ice...also great for a summer day. I particularly like their almond tofu. I don't typically order a drink, but I once decided to order a boba milk tea. I was very disappointed. For a large size, you're paying approximately $4...but it is horrible. Probably the worst I've ever had. The boba itself is fine, but the tea they use has a weird herbal taste. It's almost like they fused this drink with barley. Maybe it was a bad batch, but I sure won't risk it again, especially since it was $4. For the same price, I can walk over to Jungle Tea Bar. The service is good. I don't have any complaints. They don't speak much English, but they know enough to help you. They have a lot of staff working here, so you won't have troubles flagging someone down. They usually leave you alone once you have your food, but they will stop if you raise your hand or give them eye contact. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you're looking for Taiwanese food. it's very typical, but I like the large variety...especially since they're known for their sausages. I like the soft scramble egg over rice. Hubby had the chicken soup and said it was good. The soup was ok for me but nothing to rave about. My biggest concern was cleanliness. The table wasn't clean. Omg I have been WAITING to try this place for as long as I can remember. I have heard so many good things about their infamous Sinbala sausage. Parking is relatively easy in the huge parking lot! The restaurant is pretty small so be sure to get there early or it'll easily be about a hour wait. I went in with my boyfriend, completely missing the waitlist outside the restaurant by the front door. Stupid me. Anyways, it was relatively late so we waited outside for only about 15 mins! We got seated and ordered shortly after from the friendly server. We order the Chili Wontons, Sinbala Sausage (dish), Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, and Pork Chop Rice. Everything came out altogether pretty quickly! Our server spilled some of the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup, but to be fair it was really full, and we didn't really mind at all, but she apologized profusely for it and helped clean it up right away. So nice! And she definitely didn't need to do that. Where do I begin! I was so happy when all the food came, it was just GLISTENING. Chili wontons were SO GOOD. Perfect vinegary and spicy sauce paired with a bunch of fresh green onions. Wontons were plump and juicy. Beef Noodle Soup was pretty good! Not as spicy as I thought - had to add more spice to it. Broth solid and hearty, egg noodles were DELICIOUS, but some beef chunks were a little tough to chew through. Sinbala sausage was solid - like a fancy lap chang(chinese sausage), and the raw garlic chips on top were nice! My favorite dish of the night though, was the Pork Chop Rice. The Pork Chop was INCREDIBLY crispy and SOOO juicy. Rice undernesth with minced pork complemented the dish so well. The butter corn, lettuce, and scrambled eggs made it such an all around perfect entree. Will definitely order this again if I'm feeling comfort Taiwanese breakfast. Overall, great place. He got the dry minced meat noodle and I got the spicy beef noodle soup. Our other friends got the eel rice and sinbala sausage rice. We all shared a shrimp pancake. My boyfriend also ate my beef noodle soup since I couldn't finish. Now, my beef noodle soup came out suspiciously quick - not 5 minutes after I ordered. But I didn't think much of it. Everything else soon followed. I'm always on the hunt for the best taiwanese beef noodle soup (still can't compare to mom's but I try). Save yourself and just go to 101 Noodle Express in Monterey Park!! I can safely say that sinbala has one of the worst beef noodles I've ever had. WAY too heavy/thick, WAY too oily, WAY too heavy. The broth looked almost as black as an oil spill! But I ate it since I was fueled by my hunger and urge to not waste money and eventually became numb to these sensations. My bf ate it because he just eats everything when he's hungry. I didn't try his dish because it didn't look appetizing to me but it did look shiny/oily. He hasn't had heartburn in so long that we threw away his old Tums but today made us wish we had an emergency supply. He stayed up the rest of the night while I tried to sleep. Come 7:45 am, I suddenly woke to him jumping up from bed making gagging noises. Unfortunately, he did not make the toilet the first time and puked out huge chunks of beef, noodles, vegetables, and egg pieces. I almost puked looking at and smelling that. He puked some more once he reached the bathtub. I woke up and had to go to the toilet some more. Every time I thought I finished I had to go back. I have been on the toilet for the last hour and am writing this review from it. So, thank you for making me call in sick to work. This is my go to place for down home, authentic Taiwanese food. If you were wondering what food tastes like in a Taiwanese grandmother's house, this is pretty much it. Taiwanese sausage rice is so good. In fact, all their Taiwanese sausages are great. There are so many options! Traditionally, it's eaten with raw garlic slices, but I especially like the one that comes with crushed garlic. The savory sweet sausage tastes so good with the spicy bite of the garlic. I also really enjoy their beef noodle soup and Taiwanese popcorn chicken, other staples of Taiwanese cuisine. The prices are reasonable, the service is friendly, and the portions are especially generous. Sinbala is the standard for authentic Taiwanese food in Arcadia. There's a special place in my heart for this restaurant, as I grew up eating all kinds of Sinbala takeout for dinner from the meat ball soup to the dry noodles to the rice dishes. I'd recommend appetizers, especially the green scallion pancake, radish/turnip cake, and Taiwanese sausage. Super yummy and great to share. If you're looking for something more filling, the fried chicken leg rice is good because there's a generous amount of chicken thigh meat and the batter is nice and crispy/crunchy without being too hard to eat. The sides are nice too (cabbage, corn with peas and carrots, scrabled egg with tomato) and you can always request to only have the sides you prefer. My family asks for only corn and the staff has never not delivered. The dumplings are yummy too, though the dough has gotten SUPER thick in the last couple of years (thumbs down from me). I get the pork with cabbage or the pork with leek. They've recently (sometime within the last couple of months) discontinued their zha jiang mian, which I've heard translated to both pork and bean curd noodles or black bean noodles. This Sinbala has a really cute and welcoming ambiance because of the bigger space and yellow walls with flower shaped windows. Comparing to the Rowland Heights one, this Sinbala is only secondary.. This Sinbala is unsanitary and the meats are a bit dry; over at RH they put more sauces in their rice dishes, and the tables are cleaner. It's still yummy food, of course. The oyster pancake is bomb at either location! :) Now, going back to the service. The food comes out fast, which is great, but I'm talking about the waittresses. When I took out my credit card, the female worker shouted sternly "NO CREDIT CARD!" from across the room in a Chinese accent. Geez. I didn't know, but that's no reason to scream at me. yikes, PMS much? o_O The male workers are definitely the more welcoming/nicer people.. Even getting to-go is so uncomfortably awkward. They take your order and money and don't say anything to you about how long it would take or where to wait..Once I just stood there awkwardly during those seven long minutes while all the waittresses chatted obnoxiously (maybe they were customers/friends too...I can't tell!!) Garlic sausage rice a must try. Smells of garlic since they slice garlic and place on top. I thought it was minced garlic fried and mixed with rice. In any case, if u like sausage, this dish is good. I am not into the sausage and its smell so one whiff of the meal and I did not like it. My folks took all of it and will come back for more, though. So to each his own. Rice is really flavorful and plenty of sides to go around. Picture says it all. Cost $6.30 with tax. To go order was 5 mins despite the busy crowd. No waiting area and this place gets busy even on weekday lunch time. So you can choose to sit outdoors if you want....kinda interesting for chinese place. Outdoor seating. But it is really sitting on curb by the cars. So I think that really should be a waiting area instead of eating by the cars and waiting crowd. Sinbala does a pretty good job delivering authentic Taiwanese food for the most part. It is mostly a go to place for my family during a weekday where we did not cook and are just looking for a place that is quick and has decent food. Some of our favorite dishes are the TW sausage over rice, the spicy dumpling 　　紅　油　炒　手， the chicken soup, the cold noodle 　涼　　面, and stir fry vegetables. A few dishes that can use some improvements are the oyster pancake, where the oysters aren't always too fresh, and the bambooshoot and pork over rice, where the pork can be a bit tough. Either for purely tax voiding reason or simply to create an authentic TW style street dining experience, Sinbala does not take credit card, even after so many years in business. I do feel that this can be a bit inconvenient for the customers and we are living in the 21st century, it might be time for the owner to invest in a credit card machine. read more

Pretty unbeatable Taiwanese fried chicken leg rice! I've been eating here since grade school and their chicken leg rice and pork chip rice dishes have been very consistent. For me, these two dishes from Sinbala are probably the best in the 626. The only other restaurant that compares is Old Country Cafe. The fried chicken leg dish comes with fried chicken in a delicious batter atop minced pork on rice with a side of cabbage, eggs and tomato, and a medley of vegetables (carrots, peas, corn). Its about 8$ which is very reasonable and service is always quick. The only reason I docked off a star is because one time, years ago, while my Mom was sitting down in Sinbala having a meal, city health inspectors made a spontaneous visit and shut down the restaurant on the spot, deeming the restaurant's kitchen unsanitary. It opened back up but since then has always fluctuated between inspection ratings. Thus, it's difficult to trust how my food is being handled. Otherwise, if you are a fan of Taiwanese food, this is the spot! read more

Too bad I was already full from Din Tai Fung. I love Taiwanese food! :) The shaved ice itself wasn't as powdery as I would've liked but it was still pretty good. One of my go-to restaurants when I don't want to go anywhere further than a mile from my house :P I've been coming since my pre-teen days (and when the sausage rice plate was ~$5.50) and it still doesn't disappoint. A great place to hang out with friends over some quick serving Taiwanese food. I alternate between the sausage rice plate and the fish balls with meat inside with the clear noodles (dong fen). I love that the rice comes with a side of tomato and eggs 'cos it be my fave. The fish balls with meat inside is just impeccable. The meat and its juices is a perfect pairing against the "qq"-ness of the fish. And let me tell you, these balls are the size of golf balls! It's a great dish to order for those cold fall days. As for drinks I haven't had much of their drink menu because the mango slush trumps. Actual, yes, REAL, mango pieces at the bottom. Mango explosion in my mouth! Onto favourite part : desserts :) The Eight Treasure Shaved Ice is also a must-order. Nowadays, you see shaved snow errrwhere but it's good to go back to the ol' gritty shaved ice now and again. Ask for the "black sugar" on top of the condensed milk that I know you're gonna get already 'cos it makes the ice taste x10 better! For the winter nights, get the hot grass jelly with the same toppings as the shaved ice. Warms you up in no time. I've heard this place is famous for their sausage, but I'm semi-vegan, so I ended up getting the Pumpkin Noodles, instead. Little did I know there was pork involved. But it was so good, I ate it anyway. It's also known for their shaved ice, and although it's decked to bursting with add-ons, I personally like the shaved ice in Korea town better. Their drinks are also good. I recommend the Lemonade with Honey & Aloe Vera pieces. It's sweet, chewy goodness. Their menu is packed with Taiwanese dishes, but it's not for the faint of heart/belly. You will not find healthy side salads here. Everything is delicious, however, so it deserves a moderately high rating. And as for the quality... I've been going to this place for over 8 years and their quality is always consistent and good. They service a wide variety of typica Taiwanese type food. In my opinion they have the best Taiwanese popcorn chicken then any other place. The chicken pieces are fresh, well marinated, the breading is not too thick like your typical boba tea shop, and their spices and basil are perfect. It also tastes great to go and placed back in the toaster oven to make crisp again. My other favorite is the beef noodle soup. The broth has a lot of depth and flavor, and the beef pieces are very tender and a good amount. The noodles are not the thick kind I prefer but they are thick enough and hold up well when they are soaked in broth ( I can't stand soggy noodles). To go tip: ask the noodles to be uncooked and they give you the fresh noodles so that you can boil them by yourself to your desired done-ness at home and art to the broth for a perfect pandemic soup at home! They also have a variety of to go cold options in the fridge that are all very good like cucumbers, golden mushrooms, spicy pork/tofu. This is one of those places where my girlfriend's opinions and my own opinions differ. She loves this place and I absolutely dread going here. Let me explain. FOOD: They are known for their "popular" taiwanese sausage rice. To me, it is not much different than the sausages you can purchase from the supermarkets all around the SGV. All the sides they provide like the tomato egg and corn are just meh. Most of the food there are not made fresh to order. They are pre-cookedin large portions and packaged for each customer. Their other items on the menu like their popcorn chicken, oyster pancake, and beef noodle soup are just mediocre compared to other similar restaurants around the area. SERVICE: Often times, they decide to close early or not take customers past 8:45PM. To me, that is just not professional. If you're open until 9:30PM that means you should continue to take customers until 9:30PM. This place is one of very few places that deters customers away before they even close. I personally do not like that business motto. PRICES: Because of their loyal customer base, they have continued to jack up their prices. To me, a sausage with rice plate should not cost anything over $7 at most. Now, due to its popularity, it has been raised to almost $10. That, to me, is unbelievable. it is absolutely ridiculous. We like this place for a simple Taiwanese meal aka sausage rice, their most popular item. Personally, I'm not a fan of it but I know they have many other dishes that make up for it! My friends love the sausage rice and I love their cold noodles. Their cold noodles come in a box with garlic, peanut sauce, and chili sauce. You mix all the good stuff in there and take a big bite full of flavor. I definitely was not disappointed and was happy to find chicken bites in my noodles as well! We also ordered their radish cake with oyster sauce and that came out nicely fried and crispy. Last, we got their XLBs which was amazing as well. Their prices are a bit high for their food, but this place is becoming more and more popular. I think I have tried other things here and it's always been pretty standard. It is cash only! read more

Always intrigued by anything sausage. This place did not disappoint. Stopped in late afternoon for some to go food. Ordered the sausage plate which came with rice, sausage, cabbage, corn and maybe eggs with tomato. It was good. Then the garlic sausage. Too much garlic for us and that is saying a lot. Good none the less. Mixed garlic into the rice. Finally we asked for a suggestion and she pointed us to the garlic chicken nuggets. What a find!!! Not what we were expecting. Moist, crispy, and lots of garlic flavor. A real winner. Next time getting that and rice. The only downside was that tables outside and in hadn't been cleared and it didn't make a good first impression. Even after being cleared there was a napkin on the pavement. read more

It's just a small Taiwan food restaurant. Why increase prices for double? But, less meal on the plates. We are already paying 10.25% tax. Why do we need to pay another 15% of tip? It's just a small food store. It can't consider as a restaurant! read more

I only ordered two items, combo #1 and spicy wontons. The spicy wontons were way way overpowered by garlic. I love garlic on almost everything but this had so much that I found myself scraping them off. And honestly, I couldn't taste anything but the garlic and a bit of chilli oil. Then combo #1, the Taiwanese sausages were too dry and tough. I really missed the sweet Taiwanese sausages I eat every year when I went to Taiwan. But then stupid Covid happened. Didn't I review this before? Authentic Taiwanese! Tastes amazing 15 years ago, tastes amazing now. I always get either beef stew noodle soup or the sausage rice w/corn. The only other food equal or rivals this place is Yami Teahouse in Lomita, which is southbay by San Pedro. The beef stew noodle soup has the perfect base. Warning, THIS PLACE IS NOT AMERICANIZED. It is if you want authentic Taiwanese taste. It is a nice dark, rice, umami beef base. Perfect! Come try it. Recently I have introduced this to 2 southeast asian friends, and they liked it. Very confusing business. Website has one price model and in store is a different price model. Atleast 40-50% more. I ordered on phone and they told me a price but during pick up they were charging me atleast 40% more stating that they have changed the price recently. That should reflect on their website/Yelp order price. Very disappointed and will try to avoid these kind of non transparent businesses. read more
