This place is highly recommended by a church sister so decided to give it a try. And now it's my favorite beef noodles place beside my mom's kitchen. The lady at the cashier was so sweet and friendly. She patiently introduced me to their menu and food, made recommendations. I'm very pleased by her customer service. It is a small to medium restaurant, nice and clean throughout. Very welcoming like a family restaurant. It was a to-go order and they packed the food pretty well so the noodles don't get soggy. Solid spot for Taiwanese beef noodle soup & other Taiwanese noodle dishes! Got the half tendon half meat beef noodle, and the broth is a solid soy based brasied broth with the tendon was cooked down to a soft gelatinous texture! The beef pieces were tender as well, no tough pieces at all, which is always nice. The cold noodle was a surprise for us. It's hard to find good sesame cold noodles and Xiang Ji has one of the better ones we've tried. Also got the Braised Combo Plate, which came with egg, seaweed, bean curd, and peanuts. Everything was good but still not a fan of soft peanuts! A lot of people had a bowl of beef noodle along with dumplings, but we were too full to try the dumplings. This is a casual eatery. Nothing fancy but the menu has some Taiwanese classics so I gave it a try. Most people in the restaurant had ordered their beef noodle soup, and they smelled pretty authentic. But I ordered the pork intestine noodle soup because I don't see this on many menus. The flavor was average -- tastes familiar, but not something I would go out of my way for. The soup was weirdly lumpy -- I know it's supposed to be thickened with a corn starch slurry, but this was lumpy like someone didn't properly dissolve the starch in the slurry before adding it to the soup. Didn't really affect the taste but was not as smooth as I would've expected. I also ordered a side of braised kelp, which was ok but a bit sweeter than I like it. The staff was friendly and they were playing a Taiwanese song from 1989 that I heard when I was young, which adds to the nostalgia. The beef noodle soup was good. My favorite was the pork intestine noodles which is the brown soup noodle. This is a signature Taiwanese dish and not many places in LA serves it. This one was good and the only thing I would come back for. They had various stuff dumplings. The pork dumplings were a little bland. The beef dumplings were good but were not out of this world. They use store bought skin, probably to cut labor and cost, but honestly there are better options around the area. This is a casual spot. The service was limited. We had to ask for things more than once. They do have a self service sauce station for your dumplings sauces. read more

This place is located between LAN noodle and Pho Ha so there's a lot of noodle competition! Plenty of parking available in shared lot. Came here for the first time since we always go to LAN noodles next story so decided to give this place a try. Wasn't busy for it being 6pm so plenty of seats here available. We ended ordering: Pork and Cabbage Dumpling - good portion for the price you're paying. Stuffy is good but is on the salty side. Best when eaten hot. (They sell frozen dumplings if you want to take some home) Traditional Minced Pork with Dry Noodles - recommend this dish here if you like dry noodles; only $10 and it's filling! Although the egg was warm on the outside but a tad cold in the inside so maybe warm it up a bit more. Premium Braised Beef Noodles - friend had this and she found nothing special about it. Their menu doesn't include drink options but they sell bottled beverages behind the counter. Owner should think about getting it added. Sauces are served community style; they're not at your table. I tired the cold noodles and sesame noodles, both of which tasted very Taiwanese and authentic, instantly transporting me back to Taiwan. The braised dishes were also very authentic which I really liked. Their chive and shrimp dumplings had thin wrappers and the filling didn't break during cooking Pefect. We are from NorCal and was driving to SoCal. I found this restaurant on Google and I also looked at the Yelp review. Parking was easy and getting a table was no problem. However, I did not enjoy the food. I love tendon and ordered the half tendon and half meat beef noodle. The tendon was so soft, it was like eating something fatty. We also shared a plate of cabbage and pork dumplings. They are good size but unfortunately they were not too tasty for me. Tried here for dinner with some friends. Located in a large plaza, there is plenty of parking. Staff only spoke Mandarin to us, not sure if they know English. We were seated right away and given waters and menus. They weren't very busy at 6:30 pm. We ordered the braised beef noodle soup ($10.99) and pork and chive dumplings ($10.99). The braised beef was very tough to chew and dry. The soup was a bit spicy so be warned. Portion was decent but mostly just soup in a large bowl. We had a quick unmemorable dinner here. Ordered the #1, #4 beef noodle soup and boiled pork Napa dumplings. Not much difference between the noodle soups except #1 had an egg and two bok choys. I guess that makes it "premium"? But I don't understand the up charge. The dumplings had lots of juicy fillings and thin skin. I saw a few people grabbing a bag of frozen dumplings to go. We stumbled on Xiang Ji when we spotted a picture of their braised three treasures noodle on their window. What luck! We walked in and were quickly sat as the restaurant was near empty upon our arrival; however, there was a wait no more than 15 minutes after. Again, what luck! We ordered their chicken gizzard (cold dish), braised half tendon half meat beef noodles and braised three treasures noodles. As we waited for our order, the server directed us to their "sauce bar" that included four chili oils. I wish I took a picture but two of their chili oils/sauces were incredibly tasty. One was a red paste and the other was garlicky. We enjoyed our dishes. The chicken gizzard has a pickled vegetable mixed in (that we loved), along with our noodle soups. The broth was flavorful and the meat was tender. As we looked around, we noticed several tables with their bean curd, and that's definitely on our list for our next visit. Heard this place was popular for beef noodles so came here to try with some friends. There is plenty of parking in this plaza which is good. And there was no wait for a table when we came. It is a casual sit in restaurant and they have a good amount of tables. We got the Beef Noodle Soup (10.99) and the pork and chives dumpling 10 pieces (12.99). The noodles and dumplings were served pretty fast which was nice. You can get sauces for your noodle or dumpling at a separate counter by the door. I didn't get any because I thought it was good enough without. The dumplings were pretty good and big and I liked the filling. As for the noodles, it was a bit spicy for me since I can't eat any spice. The employee said it isn't too spicy so I trusted them but it was still a bit spicy for me but I could still eat it. I didn't drink much of the broth though. They gave plenty of beef with the noodles but the pieces were tough to chew and a bit dry, so I couldn't finish all of it. Overall, I think this place is pretty mid and is a hit or miss for some people. I thought the beef noodles I tried at another place were much better and not spicy. House dry noodle is very tasty. Great noodle texture and extra sesame tasting! Also got the dumplings and they were delicious as well. Very juicy and flavorful. Great quick service. The food tastes wonderful and definitely like home cooking. I will be returning and highly recommend anyone that is in the area. Came back here again recently with my family and they finally have a name front. glad it was renamed from "apt" because that was just confusing. Their customer base has improved and the flavors of their Taiwanese food continue to be authentic. Service is a bit on the slower side as they usually only have 1 staff running the whole dining area - taking orders, bringing out the food, packing to-go orders, processing the bills; I feel for the person. I think it's a family-owned business so the family members take turns. Anyway, as long as you don't come here while in a rush, then you are good. read more

Came here recently to try their beef noodle soup. They have a pretty unique cut of meat for the premium braised beef noodle soup. The piece of meat is like a combination of brisket + tendon all in one piece. The meat flavor was not strong but was very tender and the tendon "sticky" - just like it should be. The soup was flavorful and tasted great. The noodles itself just seemed like standard noodles - nothing special. All in all a pretty good bowl of beef noodle soup - I would return! read more

The beef noodle soup came in a huge portion and was delicious, the braised combination plate was very well done and authentic, the dumplings were fragrant with nice flavor and texture, and the braised stinky tofu was stinky but in a good way. Very small restaurant with a lot of parking. Upon entering there's a little corner dedicated to sauces and a giant freezer with frozen dumplings - when I saw this I knew it was a good sign! The service is really great, the lady server is very nice and friendly. The food itself was 1000/10! I guess it's true what they say, some of the best restaurants are tiny hole-in-the-walls! The dumplings are some of the best and tastiest I've ever had.....and that's saying something figuring I've had some of the best in L.A.! Got the first item on the menu, which is the beef noodle soup, which comes with an egg and bok choy. The beef chunks are huge and very tender! What's special is the beef chunks are a combination of beef and beef tendon. Generous portion and authentic taste! I wasn't in the mood for taiwanese food but the juicy dumplings on the front page was looking too scrumptious! We ordered the #4 braised half tendon half beef noodles. The broth was good and full of flavor, with a mild kick. The cuts of meat and tendons were a bit big but biting into it was surprisingly soft and tender. Usually other places the meat is dry but I really liked it. I appreciate that you can choose which cuts of meat you want. I loved the al dente, slightly chewy noodle texture as well! We also ordered the #10 braised beef noodles. The broth was lighter, non spicy but still full of flavor. You can taste more of the broth and green onion flavor. This would definitely be the meal I would have if i was sick. Both noodle bowls were a huge portion. The chive and pork dumplings were delicious as well. The skin was thin and chewy. The filling had this great umami flavor, slightly sweet but still savory and very juicy. The chili garlic sauce they had on the side did it for me. I was also surprised at the service. The server was really kind and attentive. She saw me packaging my leftovers and suggested to keep the meat with the soup and noodles on the side so that the meat can stay tender and noodles not soggy. I wasn't sure how this place was going to compare to their nextdoor neighbor since I've been to Lanzhou noodle a few times. This one might be my new favorite beef noodle spot! read more

Food definitely is great if you are into Chinese cuisine. Service was definitely personal attention. Ambiance is acceptable. You cannot have reasonably priced food in elite restaurants. Besides, I love a hole in the wall places. It's in a sense private. It was more than filling for two people sharing. Had to take home leftover noodles which is in the picture. Wow, can't believe I've slept on this place all these years. Use to go to college down the street, but not sure why I never tried it. My friend brought me here claiming authentic Taiwanese beef noodles. Lived up to the hype! When the menu came, I just went for the signature #1 beef noodles with boiled egg. I probably could do without the egg and just go with traditional beef noodles next time. The beef is super slow cooked and marinated to its juicy fullness! Meat fell apart and melted in my mouth. Mix in a little bit of their spicy sauce from the window counter and you are golden. My friend had the triple meat, tendon and tripe. Might give that one a try next time! Seems very mom and pop owned. It startled getting bustling around 12:30pm. There's only about 8 or so tables but restaurant was full by the time we left. I've been to a couple of beef noodle restaurants when I used to commute to Arcadia for work and I have to say that Xiang Ji has been a little hole-in-the-wall gem for me. The restaurant itself is very unassuming by looks alone, but each time I've entered, I am warmly greeted and quickly sat down at a table where food comes out at an efficient time after I've ordered. Whenever I come I always order their Premium Braised Beef Noodle, and while I know that the price point may seem high ($24.99) I assure you that from the chewy house made noodles, to the tender, fall-apart beef, it is worth it!! Even the marinated egg and bok choy are flavorful and perfectly cooked. The beef broth itself is deep and rich, and you can tell they simmered it for a long time to get such a full-bodied flavor. I especially love the little tingle in your mouth that you get each time you take a sip thanks to the Szechuan in the broth as well. Overall, this spot is worth the hour drive for me and I would love to come again once the cooler season rolls in once more! read more

Despite there being only one other table occupied, we waited five minutes before being acknowledged by the staff, who seemed more interested in socializing in Chinese with the only customer there than in providing menus. ​The food quality was unacceptable for a specialty shop. The beef noodles lacked any authentic broth flavor, tasting instead of nothing but DARK SOY SAUCE and artificial seasoning. The beef itself was tough and lacked the traditional tendon cut, and the beef noodles were served without any vegetables. ​The dumplings were even more of a letdown. Although they are marketed as a house specialty, the skins were paper-thin and almost every single one was served broken or torn. They also seemed overcooked, the skins were MUSHY. When I pointed this out to the waitress, that lady simply blamed an incorrectly set timer. It is unprofessional to serve clearly ruined food to a customer rather than starting over. To make matters worse, we were served an incomplete order of eight dumplings with a promise that the remaining two would come "later." ​Between the 30-minute wait, the loud shouting from the staff, and the subpar food that looked nothing like the menu photos, this was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. Dropped by last night around 7:45pm on a Thursday evening with a girl friend. Parking was easy as the Plaza had plenty of spaces. The restaurant was clean and welcoming. The menu was a little bit confusing on the formating but we figured it out on what was the menu and what was the takeaway freezer menu. We ordered the #1 beef noodle soup, seaweed cold appetizer and sautee A vegetables. Very classic Taiwanese. As someone who grew up in Taipei Taiwan. I can say that this brought back flavors from home. It was delicious on point. The beef noodles soup was large, with generous portions of beef that was almost too much for me to finish. It was so tender and delicious. Incredible deep flavor of the broth. The lady serving us was very kind and suggested that we try the dumplings next time.
