After watching the Texas Bucket List and seeing them post photos of the boils we finally decided to try them out since we were staying in Surfside beach. Just went there for the 1st time it was good at the beginning, appetizer the boudin balls were great! and drinks, but main meals came out seafood the shrimp had to be bad, it had a bad smell and tasted rotten i spot it out and didn't eat any of them!!! my husband had catfish it was decent and my son the huge burger which he liked a lot but they need to keep an eye on seafood, for 40$ platter i was sincerely disappointed and there was NO sauce on it like in all their pictures on their facebook... won't go back read more

Don't let the grungy exterior put you off; this place is fried seafood heaven. They also have crawfish and seafood boil buckets, but I wanted my fried fish and shrimp--and it was some of the best I've had. The interior is neater and cleaner than you might expect from the outside, which is a good sign. There are two sections, one near the bar and a bigger restaurant section. Flatscreen TVs play silent sports events, while a high tech jukebox thing was playing "today's country," which seems to be heavy on songs about women who break poor Cowboy's hearts. I like places like this where the servers don't get all silly, introducing themselves and announcing that they are going to Take Care of you. At La Sirenita, they just do. My fried fish and shrimp platter was wonderful. The portion sizes were generous, especially for the price, and everything was hot and tasted absolutely fresh. The batter on the fish and the shrimp was perfect. It wasn't heavy-handed, but it had a nice little bite to it. The fries were also very good, as was the coleslaw. I am not a big fan of hush puppies. They generally strike me as some kind of afterthought that nobody paid any attention to, and I often leave them on my plate. But these were unusually good, crispy on the outside and moist and buttery on the inside. I ate both of mine. In fact, I ate everything. It was all wonderful. Down on the coast, in fact, almost anywhere, a big, super fresh combination seafood platter like this is hard to find at a price like this. I took some friends out to lunch and one of them wanted seafood so she took us here located on the way to Surfside beach. It was a Saturday and the place was empty. Still, we sat down and proceeded to order. Our waitress was pleasant but pretty much absent all the time and we couldn't find her even though the restaurant was not even all that full. It was simply awful that a restaurant like this would be out of crawfish, mashed potatoes and no alligator bites (disappointing). We ordered a large crab boil which included shrimp and although it was pretty tasty, it came in a bowl sitting on top of a small bucket giving the illusion that it was bucketful and for $67 bucks it sure wasn't worth it! This whole lunch costed $187.00 including 10% tip for 3 adults and 2 small kids, it really wasn't worth the gas that got us there and certainly, the food SUCKED! We come from Okc and the foood is always great but twice we have had horrible service. The first time we waited an hour and a half and when we finally checked on our place on line they couldn't find our name! Tonight there was no wait, they sat us immediately but nobody came to our table for 30 minutes, when I asked if we could get some drinks they said I just found you a server. I'm giving this place 4 stars purely because of the seafood buckets. This hit the spot perfectly for what we were looking for. We did garlic butter with medium spice both times. Did a custom bucket on the second visit. I often leave seafood buckets feeling bloated and that did NOT happen here! Incredible food experience. The service is horrible, we waited over an hour for our food the second visit. The establishment itself leaves a lot to be desired as well. Keep an eye on your tab and make sure to ask questions about what items cost, we found more than a few inconsistencies on our receipt. Ex. $5 margs on the bar menu but we were charged $17. When brought to our waiters attention he said "Oh the $5 is for the small, you got a large. I'll change the price" We didn't ask for large, and he didn't ask us what size. Well after reading all the reviews, I'm not sure how accurate they really are, so we drove from Houston as we are visiting from New Mexico, I looked the place up and they said they closed @ 9 all good So we drove a good hour showed up @ 8:13 exactly, read for a crab and shrimp broil and down a beer, well they were already putting chairs up and when I walked up to the door the lady inside was very rude and told me they wanted to close early and I shouldn't have drove so far, but I was in luck up the road there is another hidden gem La Costa that was very willing to accommodate us, and even though they didn't have a crab and shrimp broil on the menu, they had everything to make it and said they were adding it to the menu just because of they amount of customers asking and complaining about this place read more

Mosquitoes in food. We found 5 mosquitoes in our food (see pics). They were everywhere, it was disgusting. The establishment itself was also pretty gross. We were seated by the window at first and there were all kinds of bugs crawling around the window sill and dead mosquitoes laying on their backs. It sucks because the food wasn't awful, but the mosquitoes sprinkled in it were really disgusting and we lost our appetite. My friend's seafood Alfredo was flavorless as well, it was just "creamy" and oily, absolutely no seasoning existed in that dish - do not recommend. Would never return. The table next to us got up and left because they never got service, did not even get drinks. People around us where complaining on wait times. No manager on site. During crawfish season this spot is known to be one of the best in the area. I came in last night to order the seafood trio to go. Tables were spraced, masks required signs were posted, star was friendly and working hard. The are right off of Surfside Beach and specialize in seafood, they have a bar, and sometimes do drink specials. Also often times they will have a live band or a DJ playing music at the night time however it is very family friendly. The food is pretty good as I mentioned above but it is a little pricey hence the reason I'm not giving 5 stars. The trio comes with half a pound of crab, half a pound of shrimp, and half a pound of sausage, one corn and one potato. I added a other half pound of shrimp for $10. read more

My husband and I absolutely love this restaurant!!! We initially had plans to visit Rockport, but Texas Bucketlist convinced us otherwise. We decided to shift plans to visit Surfside Beach, and to visit this gem along the way. Go to this place! You will not regret it! Prices are on par for seafood, and it is all so delicious. Oh, and the margaritas are a must. We had the watermelon as well as the lime flavors, and I left with a great buzz. Parking is sufficient, and don't let a full lot full you. They have lots of room for folks. People wait hours to eat here, it is that good. Bathrooms are small, and I mean SMALL! I'd probably recommend taking care of that before you come eat here.
