I'm not sure I can give enough stars to this wonderful restaurant. When I am craving authentic tacos and tortas, I make the 30 minute drive. Well, there are certainly an increasingly number of high-quality taco shops in Columbus, I find myself returning to La, super torta over and over. While I primarily go there for the torta mixta, this past trip I ordered 2 of the burritos to go as well to share with my family. Huge. Everything is fresh, the service is always with a smile, the store is clean, the prices are reasonable. Win. Win. Win. I just wish it was closer to my home. I would say this is a very culturally and family oriented restaurant.. as soon as we ordered our food the waitress was very patient and told me about the different types of Barbacoa: slow roasted meats ... anyways I ordered my burrito and from the start I told her I don't want any pork meat because I don't eat pork and after completing my order one of the cooks walked up and told her to tell me that the pinto beans have pork cooked into them. Afterwards she informed me and we replaced my pinto beans with Black beans! Which I like... I was really grateful because a lot of restaurants don't care to tell you the beans are cooked in Pork fats or oil. It means a lot to me that the cook walked up and told her then she informed me. This place never disappoints. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The food is always consistent and delicious. After having authentic dishes from this restaurant it makes it hard to go anywhere else and get the same quality. My favorite place for Mexican food in the Columbus, Ohio area! The food is exactly why I come here! It's plain basic good food at a very reasonable price. The restaurant is clean and well lit but a little crowded since they only occupy a small space. Seating can also be an issue for bigger people. However, this place has been very busy every time we visit. Order the nachos and be ready to eat a lot because the portion is huge! I've been in Columbus Ohio for work since Ostober 2015 and I have to say, I am sooooo blessed to be from the Los Angeles area where there are so many places to eat and all kinds of great ethnic food where ever you go. Ofcourse steak houses and american food are awesome down here(except for Steak and Shake...tasted like prison food.) but as far as asian food and hispanic food goes, alot of places I have left mad and thinking to myself..."4, 5stars MY A$$!!" The name of this store intrigued me enough that I decided to make the hike down here. And believe me, coming from the Northland area, it IS a hike. But it was worthwhile, IMO. The first thing though is that I was expecting to find it in a truck, not in a shopping center. So that was a nice surprise. Second, the prices were lower that I was expecting. My Super Torta only cost me $5. That was a steal. Anyway, I ordered the ham variety, and it was big enough to share, easily. It had ham and guac and lettuce and tomato and no telling what else. If La Super Torta's adobada torta was a person, I would marry it. Here's what happened... I came across a random strip of stores off Georgesville Road while searching for lunch options. I had an hour between appointments with clients. I saw large, waving signs outside one of the stores that said BURRITOS. I like burritos. I pulled in the parking lot and checked Yelp. There were good reviews so I just walked in. I ordered a torta and two tacos. My meal was $9 and it only took about 5 minutes to get my food. This torta was life changing. My first thought: Wtf is this bread? How is it so soft and perfectly grilled? The meat was tender and flavorful. The bread was slathered with a black bean spread, and there was lettuce, tomato and avocado on the sandwich. I thought I tasted mayo, but I'm not sure, and I don't care because this thing was perfect. I ordered two chicken tacos that were also great. Some of the best tacos I've had in Columbus. This place is unbelievably good. I discovered it by accident when searching Yelp for somewhere to eat in a different part of town. This is an ethnic type Mexican restaurant that cooks like you were at a family picnic south of the border. This is the real deal. Genuine Mexican food without the commercial refinements. It's a small place that looks like it was converted from a fast food restaurant. But the food is definitely better. Service is fast and polite. They speak both Spanish and English. The kitchen is in full view of the dining area and you can see that they keep the place clean. They are frequented by a lot of Hispanic working families for dinner. It doesn't take much imagination to think you are on vacation in Mexico. Parking is ample but the location is nowheres-ville. It's next to a Peruvian grocery in a not so fancy strip mall that you hardly notice when driving past. You probably won't notice it unless you're looking for it. Look for it. It's worth it if you like Mexican food. Everything I've eaten has been excellent. I haven't tried most of the menu because I like what I had so much - that I want it again. And again. The Tortas, yes, they are mighty satisfying. Food-wise it is my favorite Mexican restaurant even though it is a ten minute drive from me. It puts my second favorite Mexican restaurant, Chipotle, into a whole different category. And - it's cheaper. I'm getting so hungry just writing this review. That's it. This place really blew me away. I had read so many good things about it that I was afraid it wouldn't live up to the hype. It didn't just meet my expectations; it shattered them. This is some of the best authentic Mexican I've had in Columbus, and I didn't even try the tortas. For being way out on the West side, it was surprisingly only a 15 minute drive for me, just past the casino. The menu focuses on the tortas, but I was feeling like tacos today, and I ordered two adobada tacos and one asada taco as well as a adobada gordita. What is adobada you ask? It's the same as tacos al pastor I believe, just not cut from a spit, and they were fantastic. The gordita was one of the best tasting ones I've ever had. The red hot sauce on the table is pretty good, but the green sauce is the best, maybe the best I've had in Columbus. The girlfriend had the tacos as well, and we split a quesadilla. She said the carnitas were her favorite, so I'll be trying that the next time I'm there. The quesadilla was just about perfect as well, brimming with meat and cheese and not greasy at all. I believe Columbus Food tours stops by here on their bus trips but don't wait for them, and get here on your own! It's every bit as good as Los Guachos in my opinion if not better, and the girl working the counter was so much more friendly. Many years ago, I was told that Mexican Tortas are basically cold meat sandwiches. I don't do lunch meat, so naturally I've always been hesitant to try the sandwich. When I friend finally cleared up what a torta is, I was eggar to try one. In comes Fox E. and Paul F's contributions to my adventure. I love reading Paul's reviews. He has La Super Torta at four stars. And Fox has some great Tips. So a friend and I decided to head here for lunch (no school today!). I want to mention the kind lady working at LST. We weren't sure what some items were on the menu (no espanol), and she chimed into answer: a great gal! I ordered a Adobada Torta and Chicken Gorditas. The torta was phenomenal. The marinated pork was scrumptious. The spices!! They put Arjun spreading of a black bean paste. It only accented! The Tortas are huge, btw, which makes it extremely worth $6. The only "Gorditas" I've had is Taco Bell's grilled chicken one. I was stuffed after the torta, so the gorditas was saved for dinner. It did look yummy however. Fresh, light sour cream. Freshly grated mozzarella cheese. And the black bean spread (same stuff spread within the torta). The chicken was mildly seasoned. Excellent birdie flavor! Oh and this gorditas's shell was not at all like the thicker, soft Bell line. Thin. Yep. And a tad "crispness to the outer edges. read more

La Super Torta is a bustling Mexican restaurant on the west side. The menu has a lot of what you'd expect at a taqueria, but since torta is on the name, I ordered a torta. It's like a hybrid of a sub and a taco. The bread was flattened and crispy and the fillings were overflowing. Everything else the brought out of the kitchen to other customers looked pretty tasty too. Especially the quesadilla that was larger than the dinner plate it was brought out on. Man oh man, the tortas in this place...they are incredibly messy and pretty much perfection. Just needed like an entire roll of paper towels, this is no torta you would drive around eating. So the place is very popular with the locals and as such, it would be awesome to find a less busy off time to eat there. It was very tough to get a table, absolutely packed. Ordering process because of how busy they were was a bit confusing as well, place order, get a table, then back to the line to pay at the end. Honestly, it really does not matter, they could have required I stand in line a 3rd or 4th time and still would have been worth it for the delicious and super authentic food! Lunchtime options has just found a winner for price, food, and efficient service. Four of us from work had an extended lunchtime and I chose to try out this place. All 4 of us were quite pleased with the choice. I was worried when i picked the place because not everyone likes to eat at these little ethnic places like i do. I didn't have to worry with the beauty of this place. Ordering is on a big board when you walk in with Spanish and English. Prices are on point as this $5 Torta/sandwich is a great deal. The thing is huge. I ordered the chorizo/huevos torta along with an albacabra taco. I didn't need to order the taco but I was glad I did. The tacos are on par with my favorite taco trucks as the torta became the pleasant surprise. For some reason I was getting torta confused with sopa, but I am glad I did. My lunchmates ordered burritos for $5 and were also very happy with their orders. No one was displeased. They also have a variety of hot sauces and house made sauces to put on your burrito/taco/torta. I loved the green sauce which was a blend of tomatillo and I think cilantro. They also have a hot sauce which taste like a Taco Bell hot taco sauce for those that like that type of sauce. This place is now my go to Mexican cheap eat destination. It helps that it iss closer than a lot of the other places similar to it. They have a nice amount of booths and it is in the fast casual model of restaurants. Really great sandwiches, worth driving all the way out to the west side for. It's probably a good thing that they're not any closer, I'd be there all the time. No review would be complete without a discussion of the namesake sandwiches, the tortas. They are indeed super. They are huge, even if you get a single meat option. If you get the Cubana, it is downright MASSIVE. It has all the meats. How anyone could eat a whole one is beyond me. Finally, I've always heard that it's the bread that makes a good torta. That's born out here, as the bread was fantastic. Also noteworthy is the presence of tlyudas on the menu. We first tried one as part of the Columbus Food Adventures taco truck tour. Think of a tyluda as a legit Mexican pizza. It's about the size of a pizza and follows the base/toppings model. In this case the base is a crunchy tortilla-type thing. (With a slightly odd texture that is kind of remincinent of one that is stale. That's how it's supposed to be though.) It's topped with black bean spread, pork, and thin steak. Along with lettuce cheese and avocado. Again, it's big. You can share. Finally, the tres leche cake is a must try for dessert. Great flavorful, and a nice light frosting. (Key for such an independently rich cake.) read more
