My sister wanted an elegant breakfast, even though at the hotel we were staying at had a great free breakfast. Can't deal with that one so I caved and we went in search of an "elegant" breakfast. So we landed here are Le Te Da. 17 bucks for eggs, soggy bacon, tiny bar table (cause they ran out of nice tables), 2 tiny pieces of cold, old French bread, coffee that was meh. Well, I was not exactly thrilled. I don't think the server liked me. Ugh. I should've put my foot down and stuck to the great FREE breakfast at the Best Western Hibiscus. read more

We were staying close by and after walking by several days we had to try it out. The restaurant, decor, style, and ambiance were wonderful. There is a swimming pool next to your table! We liked all of our food...bread, lobster bisque, and shrimp scampi...we thought it was a little high price for the amount of food we got. We had appetizers at another restaurant, so my husband and I shared the soup and dinner. Our friends shared a salad and dinner, and our waiter was not happy about that. Our bill was still over $50.00, and we usually leave a great tip. I would like to go back and try breakfast and the bar. What can you say about perfection! I have been coming to Key West for a quarter century and LA DE DA is always a new experience for myself and friends. We come for the food, the ambience,the music, Christopher and the entire staff and also the crowd. Mike the bartender is always entertaining. Never disappointing. Must have birthday dinners and also Sunday brunch every trip! Music and dancing a couple times a week make Key West an evening event. Can't forget the Randy Robert's show. This review alone could be 5 stars just for Christopher the owner. This was our first time in key west, and first time at La Te Da. We are a queer couple who were worried about being in Florida, particularly during spring break (we joined family there so it wasn't our decision.) Christopher introduced himself and made our evening unforgettable. It was like coming home to a warm hug. The property was beautiful. The food was great. And the entertainment in the piano bar was BAR NONE. I think the duo is called 3Sum. They performed all of the greats, Otis Redding, Fleetwood Mack, etc... We stayed for ours just listening. The ambiance and decor in La Te Da provides a nice change from the typical beachy restaurants in Key West. The food's pretty good, and the service is almost always great. On our most recent lunch visit, we split the French Onion soup, which had a deep, rich beefy flavor, and a substantial amount of a 3-cheese blend on top of a toasted crostini round. The onions weren't overcooked into mush either. I had the La Te Da wedge salad, which was absolutely drenched in both bleu cheese and Thousand Island dressings. In the future, I'd opt to have the dressings o the side, as they got to be a bit much. The bleu cheese was particularly strong, so I had to keep cutting it with the Thousand Island dressing. I do wish that it had a bit more bacon though. My wife's Jumbo Lump Crab, Shrimp and Avocado Salad was fresh and filling. I wasn't too sure about the dijonnaise dressing, but it worked in this case. Our server was somewhat inattentive this time though. It was fairly busy, but he wasn't servicing many tables & was gone for long periods of time. We ended up finishing our drinks and our waters because he didn't come back to check on refills until we were nearly done with our lunches. Cute restaurant within an odd indoor pool that's for decoration. They had a really good vocal jazz trio that night we were in town. Food was good. Hubby loved the meatloaf served with green beans and mashed potatoes. My spaghetti with roasted vegetables was adequate. Shrimp appetizer had 3 and was in a very small phyllo wrap. Service was okay. Just little things like staff not bringing new silverware after appetizer, not refilling our water, and not removing the appetizer plates throughout entire dinner. The price is worth this experience! Top drawer from start to finish. We enjoyed dinner downstairs in the dining room and then the Randy Roberts Show upstairs afterwards. We kept it light with salad and appetizers and of course drinks and dessert. We used Lyft to arrive and although we didn't realize we needed a reservation, just meant no patio seating, the dining room was fine. We are staying next door and had just came in from our flight and needed a quick lunch. With it absolutely pouring out - we looked over the menu and decided to split a burger. We have been frequent flyers to Key West (married there in 2000). Two years ago we happened to stop in to La Te Da and met James.. who happened to stay in the apartment across the alley from the cottage we rent. We struck up a conversation and discovered we both shared concerns about a sick Community cat. We learned of James' schedule and made a point to stop in exclusively when he was working. This is a VERY busy place, and while we were there we noticed that James made every single person feel like they were his only customer. But we weren't going to be bought off. But this wasn't a mistake. This is their business model. OVERCHARGE for the food and have ZERO customer or front of the house professionalism. I started with French Onion Soul. The broth and onions outstanding with a healthy anoint of melted cheese. I could only eat half. Their bread service is quite nice. I had been told by locals that the meatloaf was out of this world but decided to go with the snapper instead. It was perfectly prepared and served with quite possibly the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. I finished off with creme brûlée which was just ok. On a recent vist to this establishment The decor was very nice, service was below subpar. When bread service was brought to our table of 5, we were given 2 baskets, one with 3 small pieces and the other with 3, the bread size was 1"x1". Two of us ordered the Lobster Bisque appetizer which was lacking the appearance of lobster and basically tasted like tomato soup with a hint of seafood in the background, as if the lobster swam through the soup. When brought to the waiters attention he said there are no pieces of Lobster in a bisque! The so-called lobster bisque was not finished by the two of us, so we asked the bus boy for another serving of bread while waiting for our entrees. He brought one additional basket with 4 pieces of bread. When 2 of us ate 2 pieces of the bread, I noticed a wedge of used lemon and 2 opened packs of Splenda underneath the last piece of bread! He apparently served us a left over basket from another table!!! We just consumed some strangers leftover bread!!!! I immediately brought this to our waiters attention. He was embarrassed and apologetic - he brought us a full basket of bread and brick hard butter!!! He said he put this basket together himself so its safe to eat. Two of us ordered the Sauteed Key West Yellowtail Snapper and both were delicious, with a decent size portion. One ordered Spaghettini di Pomodoro, which was also said to be delicious. The remaining 2 of our party ordered the Maple Walnut Salad with additional Shrimp. The salad was very good, the Shrimp was large, grilled, but had a strong fishy odor and taste. For me, this usually wouldn't deter me from my willingness to finish my salad but with the disgusting service of used bread, this made me apprehensive to eat the remaining 3 pieces. We passed on ordering dessert only because we were not in the mood and it was getting late. We asked for our check (no separate checks allowed.) It was noticed on the bill we were being charged for an additional $32 for a 3rd Maple Walnut Salad! When brought to our waiter's attention he said, "Oh, I did notice that but forgot to fix it." Hmmmm, we all thought. This normally wouldn't have been an issue of suspicion but one of our group clearly overheard that our same waiter was overcharging another patron! So overall, we would not return or recommend La De Da's Restaurant. Whomever is reading this, make your own decision but this is a bonafide true and non exaggerated experience. read more

Our food was okay- the tomato salad special was probably the best thing we had. The French onion soup had way too much cheese, and that's saying a lot because I love cheese. It was hard to get any broth. The pasta was the real let down though. We had the shrimp scampi, and it was super bland and reaaaallly expensive. The pasta had obviously been mass cooked and sat because the noodles were stuck together, and the whole thing just tasted like sundried tomato. We decided not to get dessert because of it. It's really hot in Key West, so I wish they also would have served the red at the right temperature instead of room temperature to start because it just got even hotter. read more

My husband said that the duck was one of the best he ever had. One star missing because an hour into our dinner a group of guys came to the bar and they were insanely loud. Stopped by on our walk through Duval St. We were able to get in without a reservation. The food was great. A little pricey but great options. I had crispy duck with an orange glaze, charred Yukon potato's and broccolini. So delicious. The outdoor patio is fabulous. Lots of room and it overlooks a cute pool moment. I had a pomegranate martini and don't recommend it but would come back to try other cocktails because the menu looked pretty impressive. The decor and live music was especially charming! read more

What a gem of a restaurant. We went here for my moms birthday, originally having reservations somewhere else but their menu felt limited. So at the very lat minute we changed it up, and we're so happy that we did! The dinner atmosphere is so nice, our server John was excellent and everyone loved their food and drinks. We all started with martinis and cocktails (dirty, straight up, espresso and a mojito). Then my and my dad moved to wine. We are big wine people and he was especially excited to see one from a region of Argentina that he RARELY sees at restaurants because they're only made in small batches. It is a smallish sized room, about 7 tables plus maybe 10 seats at the bar. Small dance floor. Full bar although no brandy we discovered. There goes that brandy old fashioned...about 8-10 beers available, but none on draft. Friendly bartender. Older crowd to see the Spectrelles. More entertainment upstairs, it was Randy Roberts, a drag show. I believe he is a frequent act there. The restaurant space is open air, as are many in Key West. read more

Oh Em Gee... I can't even begin to tell you how amazing this place was. We had a wonderful server who was attentive and very nice. I decided to splurge on the (very expensive for my usual taste) crab cakes, and my husband ordered the duck. The crab cakes were delicious, but the risotto blew me away! My husbands duck was also amazing- juicy and yet crispy on the outside. Perfection. We had originally went to dinner and *thought* I bought tickets to that evenings drag show. Another man (I presumed manager at that moment) came and asked about our time there at the restaurant... so I had mentioned that I never received a confirmation and wanted if there was a way to find out if I did purchase tickets and if it went through. He said he will get us into the show and not to worry. I said "are you sure?" And he tells me he is the owner and of course he is sure! He told us to find him after the show and let him know how it was. The show was amazing, such talented performance. It was a very classy show. Kinda like a cabaret. After the show we found him and he was very delighted to talk to us and chit chat. His name was Christopher and what a selfless class act that man is. Hope to go again if we find ourselves in key west again. Made it a very memorable evening. read more
