We had such a wonderful experience at Las Cazuelas on Snell in San Jose! From the moment we walked in, Jackie made us feel so welcome. She was incredibly friendly, gave us great recommendations, and created such a warm, family-friendly atmosphere. We shared the sampler plate, which easily feeds three people possibly even four! Everything was packed with flavor and tasted like authentic homemade Mexican food. I also ordered a mole enchilada à la carte, and it was absolutely delicious. It was so good that I'll definitely be ordering the full mole enchilada plate on my next visit. The restaurant itself is spotless, with a modern design beautifully accented by traditional Mexican décor. One of my favorite touches was how the check was presented in a small tortilla press it was unique, fun, and added to the overall experience. Everyone we encountered was friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. If you're looking for authentic, flavorful Mexican food with outstanding service and a great atmosphere, I highly recommend Las Cazuelas. We can't wait to come back! My family tried this restaurant last week, and unfortunately, it just wasn't for us. I ordered the Camarones Rancheros to-go, which comes with rice, beans, and your choice of corn or flour tortillas. The rice was cooked perfectly, and the shrimp portion was generous, but the shrimp was slightly overcooked. The biggest disappointment was that my beans were watery, and my tortillas were completely forgotten. I know mistakes happen, but it seems like there's almost always something missing from takeout orders these days. I was really looking forward to using the tortillas to soak up the delicious sauce from the shrimp. My husband ordered the beef flautas, and he felt they lacked flavor. Unfortunately, the watery beans also seeped into the crispy flautas during the drive home, leaving them soggy by the time we ate. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and helpful, so I have no complaints about the service. However, the take out food didn't live up to our expectations, and based on this experience. We had dinner here, a few weeks ago, for the first time. Las Cazuelas is a new family-friendly Mexican restaurant that is located in the Santa Teresa Square shopping center. We were warmly welcomed and shown to a table quickly. They have not received their liquor license yet, so we couldn't order margaritas, which was totally fine. We were told they should be getting their license in the next several weeks. We opted for two ice waters. We were brought complimentary chips and salsa, and we ordered a small guacamole to start with. The chips and salsa were very good as well as the guacamole. We really enjoyed that. For our main course, my husband ordered the chicken fajitas, and I ordered the two-item combo plate with one crunchy beef taco and one chicken enchilada with red sauce. Within 15 minutes, our orders were delivered to us piping hot. Our kind server brought me two sauces for my taco. One was a green sauce with medium heat, which I liked, and the other was their orange sauce that was extremely hot for me. I only used the green sauce. My husband really loved the orange sauce. My husband loved his fajitas. They were generous with the chicken and veggies. It came with a plate of beans and rice and toppings. My combo plate was just okay. I felt that the flavor was very bland. The beef in the taco had no flavor at all. I actually needed to add salt to everything, which I normally don't do when eating at a Mexican restaurant. The portion size of the taco and the enchilada were very small. The enchilada was made with a corn tortilla with dark meat chicken on the inside. I also felt that there was not much beef in my taco and not a lot of chicken in my enchilada. The red sauce on the enchilada was so bland and needed salt. For $22, I expect to have a decent amount of protein. And that's not what I got here. I think if you're looking for more protein, then the fajitas are the way to go. I, personally, would not order the combo plate again. If I were to come back, I would try something else. But I do feel they need to add more flavor and seasoning to their dishes. New Mexican restaurant in the Santa Teresa area. Las Cazuelas is located in the same plaza as Nob Hill. Place is very cute and clean. Service was really friendly and personable. However, the food was just okay. I ordered the beef flautas platter that came with rice/beans. I enjoyed that the flautas were crispy but they were lacking a bit of flavor. Las Cazuelas just opened up at the old Casa Teresa restaurant location in the Nob Hill shopping center. The restaurant looks amazing with a beautiful modern look. I ordered four tacos. Two Al Pastor and the other two Chile Verde. Both tasted good, but I loved the Chile Verde the best. It was cooked perfectly and I will definitely get that again. The orange sauce they provided on the side was some of the best I have ever had. Paulina, our host was great. It was nice to see the family friendly vibe of Casa Teresa will continue here. This is a great little mexican restaurant we recently discovered. The food is made fresh to order. The complimentary salsa and chips are delicious and fresh. Their Camarones Rancheros was perfect the red sauce was seasoned well with sautéed peppers and onions, it also came with tortillas, rice and beans. The Camarones a la diablo was very very spicy and if you like spice this is the one to try. Their cucumber and watermelon agua fresca were perfectly sweetened and paired so well with any dish. The restaurant is exceptionally clean and I see a person cleaning every time I eat there, even wiping down mirrors, menus and chairs! It's not a large venue, rather a small restaurant decorated with charm. I got a super shrimp burrito, my husband got a sampler, and my kiddo got a chicken taco plate. My shrimp burrito had a lot of flavor and the shrimp were good perfectly! I will say it's slightly on the pricier side though. The super burrito is $15 which isn't bad, but upgrading to shrimp is an additional $3, so it was $18 for the burrito. For reference, I usually spend $15.50 for a shrimp burrito at my favorite taqueria. My kiddo devoured his taco and half his rice. I tried the his. chicken and it was cooked well and not dry. My husband also enjoyed his plate, which came with his choice of meat (carnitas), nachos, quesadilla, and flautas. He thought the flautas were just OK but liked the nachos and quesadilla. The chile relleno, flautas, and albóndigas soup were all excellent, and even the rice and beans were really good. My mom even said " These beans are delicious." What really stood out, were the salsas. So many restaurants overlook them, but these were incredibly fresh, flavorful, and packed with just the right amount of heat. We kept going back for more. Bad service, too expensive and food is So-So! Waiting time is extremely long, we waited about 45 minutes for our food to arrive.

I honestly can't remember how long I've been waiting for this place to open just to try it. Brought the gang to join me and we each browsed the menu to see what we were gonna get. We walked in and the dinning area is small and feels congested. We picked an empty table as the server was busy. She came up after a while and got our drink order. We ended up switching tables to the one closest to the door but that actually was an overall bad choice in the end for the 2 that were sitting in chairs. We got our drinks and she came back with chips a while later. We finished our chips and our order had still not been taken. I opted for the combination plate with the enchilada and uncharged for a mole enchilada instead of a red one. I asked the server lady if the horchata was very sweet and she said yes. In the moment I said no but later decided to give it a try. A while later our food came out on piping hot places. The server lady served everything on the table for us so we wouldn't touch the hot plates. All the food was really hot. I cut into my enchilada and it was really hot. Mole was fine. Not a flavor that stood out but overall good flavor. The rice and beans were basic. The flautas got super soggy in the middle so the crunch was 50% gone. The rest enjoyed their food with the exception of the one that ordered the nachos because of the seasoning of the meat and since I tasted them it lacked sauce or refried beans. It was very plain. The overall space is clean and well maintained. The tables may be too many for the actual space. When we moved to the seating by the door I noticed how hard it was for the wheelchair person to be assisted to get out the door without squishing the person in the chair like a bug. You literally need to move out the way since the door is right at the doorway entrance. It was busy during our visit so the lady was the only on the running around doing everything up front. Her service was good (a bit delayed at times) but what makes me give the rating what I do is the extra cost I didn't notice till I looked at the receipt. I had a a credit card processing fee of $4.58 but what threw me for the loss was seeing an $8 charge for an agua fresca. NEVER in my life have I ever paid $8 for an agua fresca at a restaurant. $3 maybe $4.50 but $8 was insane. In the end the food didn't have any outstanding flavor that was memorable enough to return. read more

The food here is fresh and much higher quality than many neighborhood restaurants. A lot of care is taken with the preparation and ingredients; for example the chicken in my nachos was tender and flavorful, and it wasn't drowning in sour cream or beans. Chips are fresh. Margarita has a nice spicy bite in the salt rim. Speciality sauces come with the mole. Our server was attentive, checking in frequently to make sure we were happy. My wife and I stopped by for their soft opening this week, and we were incredibly impressed! It's a shame to see people hiding behind fake names and fake profile pictures just to leave miserable reviews about a brand-new, family-owned spot trying to find its footing. Our experience was the complete opposite. The food was absolutely amazing: Street Tacos: We ordered 6 of them. At $4 a taco, they are a steal--especially because they came completely loaded. Super Burrito: Perfectly executed. It had a nice, toasted crisp on the outside while staying perfectly soft to the bite on the inside. Enchiladas Verdes: My wife ordered these and loved them. Unlike what some bitter reviewers claimed, the rice and beans were cooked to absolute perfection, and the green sauce was delicious. The hostess was incredibly pleasant and took our to-go order with a smile. The restaurant itself was spotless, and we loved the music and overall ambience. Sorry for this poor review but I guess our expectations were too high after waiting so long for it to open. We were disappointed, & our first time was the last. It was SO SO noisy & the seats felt like sitting on cement. There are no booths. There were dead flies/ gnats all along the window ledge & there was only one server for the entire restaurant so it was rather slow. The food was just ordinary. The only plus was the hostess/server who was trying her best to be friendly. They definitely should have invested in some acoustics to absorb the sound of conversations & music that bounces off the walls & hard surfaces of the seating/tables. The meat was all dry and chewy mostly gristle, rice and beans and big chunks of avocado just no flavor at all. I should've went to Taco Bell instead. It just feels good to be in there. The food was outstanding. I had the tamale plate which was perfectly seasoned and so satisfying. My mom's albondigas soup was rich and comforting, and my dad's cheese enchilada was spot on. Everything tasted fresh and homemade in the best way. The host is very nice, warm and attentive. The ( not so good): The food was bland with very light portions served in frisbee style plastic shallow plates. A little ghetto. Beans on the watery side, Spanish rice was bland. The male server could not understand one word of English. Hard to convey our order to him. Customers next to us asked him for a knife he came back with more chips... and two forks..they laughed. There was a person working there cleaning a table with his pants sagging down where they were nearly off. Not cool for an eatery. Gross. This place just started business here and they need time to adjust. It's a different clientele here from their other location on Race Street. Get order takers to know a few words of English. So let me start with ambiance - very nice , clean and new . Service started off good then just went south . Asked for no cheese on the beans , it came with - there was a tiny bug like insect on a shrimp taco place and when they relaxed the taco it took forever to get it back . Only had one waitress to service the restaurant and we came at 3:30 to beat the rush . Another customer was at the table next to us and had to wait for his food. They brought it in a to go bag when he wanted to actually eat in the restaurant so they took the food back. He also had to wait an additional 20 minutes to get his food However the food was tasty, guacamole was really good. Made fresh and chips and salsa were very good as well. I ordered huevos rancheros, a very basic Mexican dish. I ordered the eggs over easy. What I got was over cooked eggs covered in ranchero sauce. Not even on a tortilla. How can a Mexican chef get this so wrong? The menu stated the eggs were served on a tortilla. The eggs were overcooked and not even on a tortilla. I walked out with not even taking a bite. Tried the new location on Snell and was extremely disappointed. We ordered street tacos-carne asada, al pastor and birria. All of the proteins lacked flavor and were rubbery. The orange salsa was spicy but no salt. The salsa that they give with the chips was good in texture and flavor. Awesome! Tucked away in the Nob Hill shopping center, I was so glad to see Las Cazuelas carrying on the tradition of having an excellent Mexican restaurant in this spot. I wasn't sure they were open, but as I walked by I was attracted by the fact that there were several people inside, a good sign that the food was good. I was not dissappointed. The interior is completely redone and has a bright, fresh, comfortable feeling. I was warmly greeted upon entering and because they were busy, I had to wait a bit but they are very generous with the chips and salsa, and the food was worth the wait. Fresh ingredients, tender meat, fresh salsa, no skimping on quality. And the taste was awesome. The chef clearly takes their time to make sure you are getting a "home-cooked"-style meal. 5 stars.
