We searched and searched for a good Mexican restaurant and stumbled upon this one. We read the reviews and decided to give it a try. This place definitely did not disappoint. The chips were warm and salsa were fresh. The veggie chimichangas were scrumptious. My dad had the fajitas platter and all was perfect. The other combo plates were delish and everyone raved about their meal. The nachos with ground beef and melted cheese was velvety and divine, a real crowd pleaser. Tried LA Terraza today for lunch, staff was very friendly and fast! Probably the best service we've had anywhere recently. We ordered the chicken fajitas with rice as a side and chicken fajita nachos (he ordered without the veggies). Very good! Hot, fresh, flavorful...definitely would recommend! COVID/Takeout Order Review: We did not have the opportunity to actually dine at this location when we were visiting my cousin and his wife, but we did order take out from La Terraza. First, in line with a lot of Mexican restaurants I've eaten at - the portions are HUGE, making this a great value. I think I was the only individual of the four of us that finished the entire dish, but that's typically my M.O. The food held up pretty well in transit and being packed into to-go containers, which is not always the case. The way the food was separated was obviously intentional to keep everything from becoming a big, soggy mess (which I've unfortunately experienced a lot in these takeout days). The seasoning and cooking of the food was also very well-executed, not overdone in any way. We had a variety of dishes from seafood to their signature/classic dishes, and nothing was outrageously overcooked or over/under-seasoned. All of these small details lead me to believe that no matter what you order, you'll get a (HUGE) plate of satisfying food. The manner in which they handle the details make me believe they are pouring their heart and soul into their craft. This is the kind of local place that I love looking for and finding when traveling, and believe that if you choose to visit (or order out) you won't be disappointed by whatever you order! read more

Danger! Serious food poisoning and wouldnt contact me! Read to the end please if you value your tummy! It started as a funny visit but it should have been a serious red flag. My wife asked for some lime with her diet coke, as usual. The waitress literally asked "thats the green one or yellow?" Wow! Lol!! It wasn't funny for long. I, as always,asked what could be made with no onions as I am highly allergic. Like kill me allergic. The waitress stated the Burrito could be made without onions. When it arrived, I had a bad feeling, luckily, and cut it open. It was full of onions. The service was slow but when I could finally get her attention and pointed out the onions she stated.... ".....they are small though..." Wow. Seriously?! I even explained again that they could kill me. No concern whatsoever. I then gave up on that and asked for nachos so I wouldn't die. It took quite a while and she showed up with a plate with some chips and a little bit of queso poured on them. No thick beautiful melted cheese. It was gross. I decided, out of character, that I needed to speak to the manager. I wanted to be sure he knew how terrible the service had been and how SCARY it is for a waitress to not know what a lime is and to not understand the seriousness of food allergies. He stated sorry but that was it. I made clear the burrito and nachos should not show on my ticket. He walked away.... Waitress finally came back a bit later and took the nachos, but never refilled my wifes drink. When she came back all she said was "I guess you dont want these" and too the horrid nacho plate. We paid and left. That is NOT where it ends. My wife woke up in serious pain at one am. She suffered all night. We were 1400 miles from home, I had just finished a few days of work and we took a few more days to see her brother's once in a lifetime Command change ceremony with the US Navy. At 5:30 am I went in to the bathroom to check on her and she was dripping sweat and swaying. I immediately went to her and all she could say was, " I dont feel right" and I was barely able to catch her. She went totally limp in my arms. Her eyes rolled back in her head and she had a small seizure before vacating her stomach. It was so scary. I will spare the details, but it scared both of us so bad. I thought she was dying. She came too and was able to sit up and speak and gained her faculties. She came to and explained how bad she had hurt all night. After a long ordeal, she thought she could at least see her brother on base for a minute. (I also called the restaurant and left a message explaining the serious event and asked for a call back. Nothing.) Unfortunately, she got so bad again we had a Naval doctor check her out and had to get her laid down. It was clear food poisoning. We had to watch her for continued fever or blackouts as it could be a sign of serious brain swelling. We then spent the rest of our time out of town with her ill. It was supposed to be a time to see family, get away for a few days, and celebrate our anniversary. Thanks a lot. So, thank you for trying to kill both of us an not caring in the restaurant and not caring when I called in desperation 1400 miles from home. You ruined some really important memories for us. read more

On our way to Busch gardens we decided to pop in and grab some lunch. We were immediately greeted by the smells of Clorox and Fabuloso!! The restaurant was sparkling clean, which I love!! The booth we sat in was spacious enough to fit six people and perfect for a family. The menu features alot of Mexican restaurant favorites like Tacos and enchiladas. However they also have alot of cool Mexican dishes I've never heard of. The expansive menu made it hard to choose so I just went with veggie enchiladas, my husband ordered seafood chimichangas. This was our second time coming here....on holiday break to Williamsburg. it's like most Mexican restaurants. Tasty, flavorful food. The first time we visited here, the year prior, the food was awesome. We were joking that we(3 adults and 4 kids) must of been starving cause the food tasted so freaking good. Extremely satisfied with the quality, portion size, affordability, ambiance, decor, service, and convenience! The parking lot is huge, so plenty of spots. There are daily specials, including Monday and Tuesday $1.99 14 oz margaritas! They made us tableside guacamole for only $6.99, which is very affordable for the large amount of guac we got. The quality of the ingredients was high, the portion size was extremely generous for the price, the ambiance was upbeat and fun, and the service was attentive and courteous. While visiting family, I ate out at a lot of restaurants. I'm a vegetarian, so there have been nights that I simply had nachos or a baked potato and salad for dinner. Simply put, there don't seem to be a lot of vegetarian options at restaurants in this area. Tonight I was determined to have an actual meal, so I called La Terraza to see if they have any vegetarian options. To my delight, they do! Mexican food can be tricky for vegetarians because the beans often contain lard, and the chips are sometimes fried in lard. (One restaurant back home even fries everything in lard and puts lard in all their sauces for an "authentic taste.") When we arrived at the restaurant, they quickly seated our party of eight. Our server was funny, personable, and efficient. We all had a good time interacting with him. The chips and salsa were great! Living in California, I've been eating authentic Mexican salsa all my life, and the salsa at La Terraza definitely rivaled what I'm used to. My vegetarian fajitas were delicious! The sizzling skillet contained onions, green peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes, zucchini, carrots, and cauliflower. (I have to admit, I was very skeptical of the last three veggies and didn't think they belonged in fajitas...) The veggies were perfectly cooked and deliciously seasoned! There was a nice mix of texture and flavor, and the zucchini, carrots, and cauliflower were a great addition to this meal! I could tell that a vegetarian created this recipe because it wasn't simply a regular dish with the meat omitted, as is often the case with so-called vegetarian meals. Overall, this was a great visit! The entire family enjoyed their meals, and we were impressed with the prices. I will make it a point to come back to La Terraza next time I'm in the area. read more
