Ugh. I've had this review in drafts for so long you'll have to bear with me while I try to take you back to earlier this summer.... I was looking for anything other than pizza for delivery after my BF's long day at work. I haven't heard much about people ordering Mexican for delivery, so I was surprised to see this one come up on the search results. Why not, I thought. I punched in an order for Carna a la Tampiquena and a bean and cheese burrito. The delivery person came really fast! She apologized for taking so long and I was like what? Haha. She was relieved. They try and keep things plastic free. The only plastic was the lids. The rice and beans, enchiladas, steak and burrito each came in their own aluminum container. It must have cost a small fortune to do this and I found it overkill. Everything in two containers for two orders works for me. I subtracted a star because the food was just okay. The steak was overcooked. BF enjoyed it anyway because it was steak and he said the enchiladas were good. I didn't care for my burrito. My bean and cheese standard is Red's frozen that you can find at your local New Seasons (or if you're lucky, Sprouts). It's just refried beans and cheese. It's thin and overpriced but the flavor is THERE. I tried my own hand at it and haven't been able to duplicate it. La Valentina is further off than me, though. Food and prices are just meh. I would only order again when put up against a time deadline. read more

Cozy place to eat. Very colorful and vibrant. Nice and clean and the service was outstanding. I ordered the mix fajitas and oh boy! It was massive! My daughter ordered the carnitas with shrimp and their shrimp were huge! I got full just eating the shrimp with the flour tortillas. I'm usually a big eater but this time, I had to wave my white flag because I was stuff! We both enjoyed our dinner and the price is reasonable to the massive servings they give. This is a cute, casual sit-down Mexican restaurant that we really enjoy. There are a few vegetarian options (potato tacos are delicious!) The prices are reasonable and the service is friendly. The wait time for food has varied a bit, so go when you have time to spare and enjoy the Día de Los Muertos and Frida Kahlo decor. read more

The food is very traditional taqueria and quite tasty - not the overly bland versions of Mexican fare that tend to be popular. The burrito was large and the pastor inside was plentiful. Several in our group ordered enchiladas of different types and everyone was happy. The poblano one was especially good. First time here and overall the best, most authentic Mexican restaurant in town. The atmosphere is cheerful but, at least during the lunch we were there, quite loud. The only down side the service was quite slow. The 4 of us ordered drinks. My jalapeño margarita came just before our food. The other 3 didn't arrive until we were almost done eating. The bartender was also waitressing half the restaurant. She made great drinks and provided friendly service but trying to do both wasn't the best situation. We'll definitely go again. read more

I'm always on the lookout for good Mexican. A neighbor on NextDoor recommended this place due to it's homemade food (no cans here!) and cute, cozy decor. The cost is higher than is typical, but the neighbors on the ND thread decided it was worth it! One person said "no thank you" to the $4.99 soft drinks. Yeah...agree on that comment! After eating the street tacos, the Gringos burrito, and the wet burrito, I can attest that the tortillas do appear to be handmade. I'm very torn writing this review. A few months back, we went to La Valentina after reading reviews. I enjoyed the Enchiladas De Mole & my husband really liked the Carne Asada with Shrimp. The service was quick and the Margaritas were yum. Then this happened last night. We ordered delivery last night and we did not enjoy what we ordered. We both ordered their Wet Burrito, one Carne Asada and the other Chile Verde. There was a really weird nacho cheese sauce on my Carne Asada burrito. That was a first and really spoiled the whole "wet burrito vibe". Also, in both burritos, there was a shockingly overkill of rice. They looked like decent size burritos when we opened our containers but the only reason was because of all the rice. Will we go to La Valentina's again? Yes, there are too many other delicious sounding things on their menu. However, we will definitely dine in and avoid the wet burritos and if we order any burritos, we will specify rice on the side. read more

Camarones Al Mojo De Ajo Chiles Rellenos UNDERWHELMING. That would be what comes to mind after eating here today. UNDERWHELMING. Ambiance is nice. Small but clean We went in during a busy time so we completely understood waiting over 25 minutes for someone to take our order. We were eventually provided complimentary chips and salsa. Right,wrong or indifferent we've been spoiled when being provided chips as they are usually warm. These weren't however, they were free so who's complaining? The salsa is in the sweet side, I feel, but decent. We mowed through our first basket and waited until someone took our order. Like I said, I understand they were busy so I wasn't trippin. Once our order was taken , we got a refill of chips and salsa and waited. Having an open "pass" I could see a plate with what I ordered sitting under heat lamps. We waited, I watched, while my plate sat there until my wife's shrimp plate was done. As you can guess she got hot shrimp and my food was cold. As for the taste it was meh at best. Unflavored red enchilada sauce. Very disappointing pinto beans lacking any salt, flavor or seasoning. Same with the relleno. Bland bland bland. I ordered a jalapeño ($1) to add SOMETHING. Nice people but when you know someone's food has been sitting for 15 minutes maybe yiu fire a fresh order of enchilada and relleno beans and rice. It's not that technical. And then knowing all that maybe you don't charge the extra buck for some flavor. Yes, I could've sent it back. But, I believe I shouldn't have to. Glad it was only two of us so I saved the money. Do yourself a favor and Dave money. Go to Los Alambres and enjoy flavor, taste and value. read more

La Valentina is a newer Mex restaurant. The food was ok, tamal was dry on the edges,taco ok. Not exceptional. Other plate ordered was their enchiladas. They were fine. Chips and salsa very good. I believe they are still trying to work out their system of operation. Service very slow. Be prepared to wait at least 30 mins. No fast food here. Was told it was slow as they make everything fresh. Ok The restaurant itself very pretty and colorful. The staff was very good. I will go back to try some other dishes. Recommend? Only if you are not in a hurry. read more
