Great service and decent food. Their chicken Fontana was delicious but I wish it came with a side of pasta or potato/vegetable. Nice ambiance, parking was easy, and it's a BYOB. I would suggest more signage as it's easy to miss. Would definitely go back!

An absolute must!!!! This restaurant is awesome, and I'm writing a review to update and clarify some things. First off, currently the restaurant is open and does have outdoor seating. The seating location is actually great and we got to watch the sunset while eating dinner. It was fantastic. It is BYOB so make sure you bring a drink with you if you care for one. I booked us for 9 people over the phone. I looked at the yelp and google reviews after and didn't love the lack of pictures/stars, but once we were at the restaurant, I was very impressed. There were several delicious-sounding specials including burrata with prosciutto and melon, and artichokes wrapped in prosciutto in a delicious sauce. All the food we got was AMAZING and the portions were perfect, not giant but big enough. The kitchen is far from where the seating is, so the waitresses and waitors were hurrying back and forth to make sure they were addressing all needs. They were polite and able to provide everything we needed when we needed it. Definitely recommend, and nice that it's a little out of the way so you're not right in the downtown part of Avalon with tons of other ppl walking around.

Probably one of the best restaurants for Italian in the Avalon/Stone Harbor area. I've never had a pasta I didn't like, especially any of the dishes with fresh seafood. Their burrata special with grilled eggplant was also delicious. It is BYOB and there is a parking lot! Hard to come by in the area.

Came here after not being able to get our table at Polpo - loved it! Penne vodka was delicious and the service was great. They did their best to accommodate our large group of 9 last minute. Definitely will be back!

Delicious Italian restaurant with a fun ambience, wonderful waitstaff, delicious food, and pretty table ware! Visited here with my family and I had the Pomodoro Fritto, Lobster and Shrimp Ravioli Special, and the Limoncello Mascarpone Cake. Everything was delicious, and our waiter was very friendly and funny! This was my second time here, and both times were wonderful visits. Will definitely be back!

I don't care how good the food is, it's not worth it. We had 7:45 reservations but weren't seated until 8:20. It's incredibly noisy, so you have to lean in and yell to have a conversation. We ordered the eggplant appetizer, and had the pleasure of biting into pieces of walnut shell. Our entrees were good, but my dad ordered chicken piccata and they served him chicken francaise. Our waiter was very nice, but this place is clearly not managed well. Do not recommend.

La Vecchia Fontana continues the tradition of its restaurants in Strathmere, Sea Isle & Philadelphia. Great decor. Excellent food.

Not a huge deal but might be for others? Main issue that ruined the experience completely for us was the extremely obnoxious family that was sitting next to us. They said they are regulars and always sit in the outside corner by the shark. Very sweet and good kids twin boys and a girl. The kids were not the issue it was the two women who were extremely loud and obnoxious. No self or special awareness for the rest of the restaurant. Understandable that they are used to the corner themselves as "regulars" but in that case we should not have been seated 2 feet away from them when there were other open tables. They seemed like they were going to be leaving soon when we sat down so we didn't ask to move tables but they were there for our entire meal and proceeded to be passive aggressive to us when they left because they could tell we were uncomfortable and could barely even have our own conversation because they were practically screaming. Super rude and off putting. Sad that the other guests ruined the experience for us as it was very nice and pleasant after they left. Thanks for a great meal and the server was so great but sorry other guests caused a bad review :(

He asked me to…read moreplease mention any concerns I have in the future while at the restaurant so he can take care of it right then. He's correct and I unfortunately did not notice the price issue until after I left. I look forward to going back. The owner clearly cares about his customers and wants to understand why every experience wasn't five star. That's the type of restaurant you want to frequent. I look forward to my next visit. Service by Drew and his team was very good and enjoyable. Food was inconsistent. Table bread and oil were very good to start. Love the BYOB. Ambience is great and romantic. We started with a Romano/Caesar salad, Beet Salad, and the Octopus appetizer. The Romano salad was ok, but the Beet and Octopus were outstanding. Highly recommend the Octopus at $26.95 (although not enough to share). My granddaughter had the "kids" spaghetti with a small meatball. It was fine but the spaghetti did not seem homemade and for the exorbitant price of $26 it should have been memorable in a good way. Way too much for a little kid's meal in my opinion. I asked our server about the price since it was as much as an adult entrée and he said it was correct. The Papalina pasta was very good. My wife loved it. The $60 3 course restaurant week menu had their featured specials. Our server said we could also order the entree a la cart from the restaurant week menu. I ordered the Valdostana (pork chop stuffed with a sharp cheese and prosciutto on a bed of mashed potatoes) from the restaurant week menu. He did not quote me a price for ordering à la cart, but I assumed it would be less than the three course option. It didn't care for the taste of the stuffing but the biggest problem was it was overcooked/dry. Worse, after I left, I discovered they charged me $68 - more than the 3 course restaurant week menu. It couldn't have been a bigger portion ordering à la carte. I would've been better off ordering the restaurant menu and getting three courses, including the pork chop for less money.
