Been coming here for years, I will follow Tanya anywhere. Also Kim, Lin, and everyone else there are amazing and so sweet and great nail professionals. Recommend doing gel polish or gel nails, including gel pedicures. It's worth it, and skips dry time. I am certain they are perfectly nice. However, my gel manicure turned BROWN within hours of getting it. I then read on line that this can happen due to the chemicals either being old or used with the wrong equipment. I had to go get another do-over, because the color of my nails (a mix of the pink and a brown), was very wrong. My pedicure was great, however. Hence the extra star. read more

As a man, I have been to several nail "chop shops." Typically, my experience has been that nail ladies often feel that perhaps because I am a man, I have little expectations in getting a pedicure, also not the case. Upon sitting down at La Venus, I decided a new approach would be good and I decided to communicate my expectations before she began. I was unsure if she clearly understood me at first, but she performed EXACTLY what I asked: I wanted my feet pumiced well and ALL of the cuticle stuff removed from my toes. So I went here with my wife this week to get my feet worked on..... I never been to one of these spas before, but I had a great experience. After a long summer of no shoes and flip flops, you can imagine the shape my feet were in. I was shocked how my feet were transformed in a half hour. WTH are these last reviewers smoking? I know for sure couple of these reviews are not real reviews. $50 for an acrylic set?????!!!! I wouldn't be so upset if they were the best $50 nails I ever paid for. BUT THEY ARE THE MOST HIDEDOUS NAIL SET I HAVE EVER RECEIVED! I had to take the nail filer away from NANCY a million times to fix it myself. I am so mad at myself for paying that amount for some hideous looking set of nails. I was so upset I just paid and stormed out without even finishing the whole process, what an idiot I am. And this Nancy lady took 1 1/2 to do some hideous looking nails. I should have been more skeptical about this place considering they don't have their licenses posted too. Not just the horrible looking nails but the ladies in here are not the brightest. I walked in and the lady at the front desk gave me the dumbest look I've ever seen. I had to proactively say I had an appointment. Also, when I called to make an appointment the lady kept trying to change the time on me. I said I wanted to be in at 2:15 and she offered 1 and 3. WTF? A very cute little spot in downtown Los Altos to get your nails done. They do full service manicure, pedicure and anything else you might need to beautify yourself. The interior is that of any high priced nail spa you might go to but with very fair prices. The little Vietnamese ladies inside are very friendly and will do a good job at whatever you need done. I just moved to Los Altos Hills and obviously I need a new convenient nail spa .... looks like I got lucky! I tried this place for the first time a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed it! It was a bit odd at first.... For a Mani they have you wash your hands yourself, give you a sugar scrub (to do yourself at the sink) and then they have you dip your hands 5x in hot soft wax. I was seriously obsessed with the hot wax, it felt soooo good & it felt different than the other hot waxes nail places sometimes use. They also give you a great massage. The place is nice and reasonably priced. It is right at the start of DT Los Altos which is convenient but I will definitely try a couple other places in the area before I commit to this place. I was greeted warmly after walking-in, all I wanted was a pedicure. The lady was timely and friendly, and very quiet. The atmosphere was very nice and I loved the hot wax treatment. The nails were clipped unevenly (especially one of my big toes), some were too short, some not clipped at all, and it was a bit painful in the cuticle area, the next day. It took an hour, but I was ok with it, and when done, was a bit surprised about how pricey it was ($35, before tip)! I don't live in the area, was visiting, so I probably won't return. read more

I came here on Saturday mid day with an appointment and Van was my technician. I liked the warm ambiance and cherubs on the ceiling which gave a cozy feel. They were busy but not over booked and very friendly. I brought a friend and our pedicures were synced and done at the same time. The salon is clean, quiet, plays classical music, smells good, and Kim did a great job on my nails. Highly recommend it!

I used to just go around from place to place to get my nails done. But for two years the only pedicures I have gotten is here. They are amazing. My nails won't chip for at least 3 three weeks after I go. It's also really cheap compared to most of Los Altos nail shops. Its only $25 for a spa pedicure. For $10 more you get a 15 minute massage and wax. Its a must! read more

I regularly go here to get my gels done. Kim does such a wonderful job and is very personable. Also, about once a month I get a pedicure... it is wonderful. Every manicurist is wonderful, I can't recommend this place enough. I've gone here a couple times & yesterday was my last visit. $50 for a mani/pedi plus a $15 tip & when I woke up to see the work in the light of day: my mani is already chipping & the polish is uneven around my cuticle. My pedicure polish is the worst application I've ever had. I am a hairstylist & been in the industry for 30+ years. Reviews are precious to anyone's business so I don't take this lightly. For the price, I could get the same level of work for $25 "if" I wanted to waste my $. The ladies are nice but that doesn't run a successful business. I have been following Tanya for 11 years through 4 salons, and love that she has landed here back in downtown Los Altos at LaVenus. She does a beautiful job on my nails and keeps current on all the new, healthier manicure products and options. She is also the best wax person I've ever encountered across three countries and three states and can advise on the best wax option/product for your needs and your skin. Kim at La Venus does THE BEST gel nails ever! They are thin and look so natural - especially if you have her do the french polish. With the french she does a final thin gel layer over it so they never chip. LOVE IT! My pedicures there don't last as long as other places so I took one star off. read more

Love this place. At first parking seems a bit hectic but if you go to the back you can always find some. Manicures and pedicures are cheaper than most places too and the place is very clean and cute with a good enviorment - they have some nice classical music playing and good magazines to read while you're waiting. Kim does an amazing job with shaping and application (shellac, french, color and regular polish). Quiet and pleasant ambience. Lynn is also very good but has a different style so depending on individual preference, one usually chooses between the two. I live in South San Jose and work in Los Altos, but needed to get a pedicure during one of my lunch hours right before vacation & yelped this place. I guess I can admit I am a bit picky when it comes to pedicures, especially since sometimes it is hard to justify the price tag for something I feel I can do at home. When I left this place, even after paying $40.00, I was so glad I came here. I definitely could not have done the same job at home that they did here. Cut, file, sure; but cuticle remover, nails buffed with electric manicure tool, calluses removed and a paraffin wax-- my feet were in heaven and super smooth. There's also a great variety of nail polishes (even better, Essie & OPI), including the bright orange color I picked out since I am heading to Arizona to watch the Giants play :) Would definitely recommend and come back. Would rather pay $40.00 here than $30.00 back in San Jose for a job half as good! read more

La Venus was a great experience. My friend and I were looking for somewhere between San Jose and San Francisco for a pedicure on a Monday morning. We settled on La Venus is Los Altos and were very happy they could fit us in without appointments. The salon appears to be pretty new (maybe so new that they don't yet have their hours on the door?) and is very clean. The pedicure chairs were of the massaging variety and as a short person, I appreciated that they moved closer to the foot bath. The best part was the parafin treatment that was included. So nice and warm and my feet still feel wonderfully soft. Notes: They seem to have opened at 10am on Monday. The pedicure was $35 (regular polish). read more

Nancy does the best job on a mani pedi. She takes time, and doesn't rush you so that it is a relaxing and enjoyable time to destress from the week. I love the service and go weekly to see her.
