We saw the night cashier/food handler, Kareem, repeatedly going into the garbage cans and garbage bags in front of 350 3rd Avenue and pulling out discarded bottles, apparently to redeem them. No idea why there's so many complaints on here but the one time I dropped by to grab a slice before bar hopping, it was great. The slices are huge, it was almost the size of the tray it came on and with topping it came out to ~$5 a slice which is pretty decent considering the location. The pizza held up well with the flop test and the crust was thin and was perfectly crunchy like as soon as you bite into it it would snap off which I guess might be a personal preference. I got this tomato slice where it's just a regular slice but with copious amounts of chopped tomatoes and garlic on top and I would definitely come back just for this slice if I'm in the area and need a quick bite. read more

Great pizza with many delicious and customizable options! We had ordered Hawaiian pizza without ham but pepperoni instead, regular cheese and chicken bacon ranch. One of the better affordable pizza shops in the area. There is a very nice selections of slices to choose from, good sizes for the price, and taste great! I got two slices of the mozzarella chicken slices, which went for $4.50 each. Two slices was more than enough to fill me up. Service is for the most part very friendly. It's 10:30 PM. I've just left a comedy show at the PIT with a group of friends. I was rushing around so I did not have a chance to grab something to nosh on between work and the show. I am starving. "Let's go grab a drink somewhere that has a kitchen." Awesome, I am down, but they need to have a kitchen. I am hungry. We stop at one bar. It's closed. The next bar. The kitchen is closed. My stomach is growling. Then like an oasis in the desert, I see an illuminated sign "Pizza." Salvation. We walked in and the place was immaculately clean with tons of slice options. PRAISE BE. There's plenty of seating, so I headed to the back to lay claim to a six-top collection of tables and then head back to the counter to peruse the selection. I'd like to say I was cognizant of the full menu of slices. I'd like to say that I took my time choosing what to order. But, no. I walked up to the counter and immediately was drawn to a slice... could it be? Why yes, it is! A slice with vodka sauce, fresh mozz, and chicken?! Holy cannoli. Give me. Give me now. And it was delightful. Plus, I split a plain slice with my husband for the hell of it. Because really how can you judge a pizzeria if you don't have a baseline decider. And their plain slice was good! Great ratio of cheese, dough, and sauce. I was there with friends from out of town. Apparently, out in Los Angeles they don't have chicken bacon ranch slices. I'd call it a travesty, but goodness knows that these slices can be so hit or miss. La Vera, though. La Vera's was a home run. Possibly the best chicken bacon ranch slice I've ever had. Though my bar is low, I still think it was pretty exceptional. And then the desserts. I've grown up wary of an italian restaurant's cold case dessert items. They are always tempting, but they never quite reach your expectations. I knew all this going in, but again, Los Angeles needed to try the desserts. Who am I to say no or to pretend like I wasn't already sitting at the table ready to dig into my slices when she came back to the table with a tiramisu and a cheesecake and a cannoli. Oh the munchies. As I was still finishing my friend's chicken bacon ranch slice, she started digging into the tiramisu. It was ridiculously good considering it did come from a cold case at a pizzeria. People also had kind things to say about the cheesecake, of which I did not partake. Nor did I partake in the cannoli which is making it's way back to LA now. Happy to know this spot is here for all of my pre/post PIT needs. read more

This place used to be really good until they changed their entire staff and hired a bunch of rude people to work behind the counter. Spending my Friday and Saturday nights there was a routine, haven't stepped foot ever since they changed everyone. Would not recommend at all now. I was sad to see Pastafina Pizza close recently but littke did I know that a new pizzeria had opened a few blocks south on 3rd ave. I was hesitant to try it but there was no decent choicevin my area aside from overpriced Rockys. I was surprised how reasonably priced it was. The restaurant itself is clean and bright and everything on display appears to be freshly made that day. I ordered a med sausage and meatball pie for pickup and it was ready in less than 15 min. I have on other occasions tried their meatball and chicken rolls. They are very filling for under $6. I will be trying other items on the menu as the time goes by. That being said they are a welcone addition to the Kips Bay/Murray Hill area. read more
