Amazing place. The entire staff is so kind and the owner is so charming and seems to enjoy his business. He walks around and makes everyone feel at home. He is very kind to kids. Our server was very patient with us as one of our children were very divisive with their drink order. The food was delicious. I got the Toto Sampler which is comparable to Olive Garden's Tour of Italy, but it was way better and about $2 cheaper. They have way more options and the price is better. I think we won't be going to Olive Garden anymore as long as we are in this area. So thanks to my husband's coworker who actually lives in the area and told my husband to come here. It's extremely family friendly but I also noticed an adult group got a big pitcher of beer so it's also great for people without kids. Love the pizzas and calzones! Crusts are cooked to perfection. The staff is very friendly and efficient...and the owners interact with their customers (rare these days). Some dishes are great and some are just ok. The service is fine. All in all it's a decent place to eat. I will say this this place is TOTALLY KID FRIENDLY. They have provided my table of kids with a tablet to watch tv. Which for me was great because I didn't have to do damage control all night or worry that my kids were too loud etc.... I question the people that say they have good meals here if they have truly ever had authentic Italian food. Absolutely disgusting every time I have been and horrified at the quality of ingredients used in the entrees. We were looking for a place with gluten free options, and we hit the jackpot! There were so many things to choose from! The owner's nephew seated us, and he brought me gluten free cheese bread when he brought regular bread for my daughter. La Villa is indeed "A-OK". They have very tasty garlic bread. Prices are okay. Pizza, boli, and calzone are probably what we get the most. Eggplant parm is pretty good. Get the CHEESECAKE. I repeat, get the cheesecake. The pasta is solid, it's not gonna knock your socks off, but you don't regret it either. La Villa is a fixure of Lynchburg and there's a reason why. It's not trying to be fancy, but it doesn't have to. No frills mom and pop italian and they do take out. Plenty of booths. Cheaper and easier to get into than the Olive Garden on Wards, and given the frequent madness of trying to get in down there and waiting for a table, it's not really worth it. This place was absolutely packed when we got here just after 6 on a Friday evening. So that alone says something for the place. The service was very quick and helpful, and the owner was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food is good too, but the sauce seemed a little bland. Plus I'm originally from the ny/nj area so I'm a bit of a pizza snob. This place is pretty good, but not much like ny pizza, and not the best pizza in lynchburg either. Was so excited to have Italian food that I didn't have to cook! I ordered the Mediterranean Delight and was told they do not have scallops. (Why is it on the menu?) OK - so I order the scampi and asked them to add crab meat. Now, you would think if the only crab meat they have to offer is imitation, this would have been listed on the menu, or at the very least when I asked it to be added to an entree that the wait staff would have brought it up then, right? Oh no! I get my meal and it is imitation crab meat! And you can bet I didn't get a discounted price for not getting the real thing either. The sauce was no where near what a scampi sauce is supposed to be - it tasted like vinegar! Maybe their garlic was rancid, I don't know, but we will NEVER eat there again - was not even close to worth the money! read more

Ordered baked shells for $9.25 - was 2 shells with some bland ricotta in each covered with 1/2 cup red sauce and a HAIR baked in the shell!! OVERPRICED (costs me about $.75 to make this) and nothing special. New York garlic rolls sold in the frozen food section of your grocery store are better than their garlic rolls. Pizza has heavy dough and too much cheese. Go to Arostas for pizza. This place gets great reviews - this is the only Italian restaurant I see in town, and from someone who has lived in many other cities, NOTHING SPECIAL to say the least. Lavilla is one of the best restaurants in Lynchburg. Every time I come here with family, the staff has been great and is very nice to my family. In addition, it is an excellent place to have a birthday party due to the size of the back and front rooms. read more

Love this restaurant. Went there for the first time today at 5 PM. Seated immediately, our waitress explained many of the entrees She was very friendly. Our food arrived hot and everyone's order was prepared the way we asked. Our waitress kept the glasses filled with cold drinks. I took one look at the huge Steak Boli on my plate and knew I could never eat ii entirely. Totally delicious. Now I have lunch for tomorrow also. What a deal. We have been loyal customers of la villa, actually ate there on opening night. We recommended this place to all our friends and have been loyal customers. Last Friday night my husband and I waited at least twenty minutes to get a table when there were two booths open at the front the whole time. When I questioned the manager, he replied in an extremely rude manner "do you think I would sit two people at a booth for four on a friday night?". So much for loyalty. I have enjoyed this restaurant for years. Michael and his wife always treat everyone like family and the food has always been exceptional until this evening. One attraction has always been the bread. This evening it was not up to par. It was misshapen and over cooked. I normally rave about the Tuscan Chicken but this evening the pasta was under salted and not drained. Have tried many different items on their menu and everything was " top notch ". My favorites being Veal Parm.(extra cheese) and they make the BEST pizza I've had anywhere in VA since moving from NYC. The owners REALLY know how to prepare Italian Food as they are from Bklyn, NY where they owned an Italian restaurant as well not to mention they are also Italian themselves. Well my review up until last week, would have been a full 4 stars. But, as of late owners seem rude, hurried and not concerned with quality, nor keeping their faithful customer base. Something tells me all the hummers and exp. cars they drive, has caught up with them and not in a good way. (really.... who drives hummers anymore.... obnoxious) Last week I made a comment to one of the owners that somethings had changed and not for the better. The sauce absolutely is horrible now... (can tell they are drastically cutting corners). The bread is not even up to par. The serving sizes have been drastically reduced. Not that I could eat it all anyway but such a difference there was no mistaking the reduction. When I asked why they had changed a great sauce, she practically yelled at me that I would have to ask him when he gets back from a trip.....ok .... how about you ask him? Needless to say this will no longer be a lunch stop once a week for me and my crew unless ALOT changes. I sure hope they read their reviews. It does speak volumes. read more

Owners rude, could care less that we were customers. We waited 10 min before we were acknowledged. Even then it was the bar tender who had to come over to help. the manager while putting tables together hit my daughter in the face with a sign. Then we ordered our drinks 12 minutes later they arrived, just waters and soda, one beer. Then waitress took off without taking our order. Finally flagged her down, she took order, good came out ok, except for one meal that was totally forgotten. Then we were finishing up. I realized the reflection I saw off my ice, was not a reflection, but splenda packs empty in the bottom of my water. My friend was brought someone elses credit card. I asked our waitress for the manager, she goes, I am. I said isn't there someone else. Got owner, she simply says, your glass was clean sorry. Really a clean glass has used splenda packets in it. Gross. Skip this place. Service is lousy and they don't care if you come. read more

The food is good but horrible customer service. We have been in there multiple time with our children. We make sure to come early as to miss the lunch rush and not disturb others and we are always treated rudely. The owner will usually bring out portable DVD players for the kids but the wait staff often are very short and make us feel rushed. The owner (I believe that's who it is) met us at the door one time and told us they were closed when the restaurant was open and had many customers in there. He eventually sat us once we said there were people in there. If he is the owner, he should not be joking around, if that's what he was doing, with customers who may not get his humor. He's tried to seat us away from everyone and everything because it seemed he did not want our group in the main dining room with the rest of the patrons.
