LabCorp (Springfield VA) didn't meet my standard for a medical visit. The facility felt cramped, privacy was lacking -- people walked through the area while my blood was being drawn and I heard others' medical details discussed, crying babies, and coughing individuals because everyone is in an open door room and/or separated by a curtain that doesn't fully partition the room. Arrival instructions were unclear. Although there's a mobile check‑in option, it wasn't communicated beforehand, and I was abruptly told to use my phone instead of the office kiosk or the person at the front desk. Watching others being directed to check in differently made the interaction feel biased, likely based on my age they assumed I'd prefer mobile check in - which was not the case. During the blood draw, I told my assigned technician (Trang) that my veins are deep and that my hand is usually the best option. She acknowledged it but largely dismissed my concerns, resulting in two unnecessary sticks before finally switching to my hand. She was able to get most of what was needed (kinda roughly), but we had to stop when I told her I was feel faint. The stress/discomfort of the experience caused me to actually faint and then throw up (something that has never happened before) and my spouse being in the room became extremely necessary for my quick care -- that shouldn't have been necessary. One technician (Tamara) deserves credit for quickly finding my vein and helping finish the final vial, even though it was difficult to complete due the fainting. In the end, the blood draw was completed, but only after fainting and leaving with me now having bruising (see photos). Overall, it was an unpleasant ordeal, and I would choose another facility if possible. read more

I booked an appointment online and even checked in through their system after receiving a text confirmation. When I arrived at the front desk, I stood there for about five minutes before anyone even acknowledged me. Once I explained that I had an appointment, I was told they couldn't find me in the system. The staff member then casually mentioned that "they should have cancelled all the online appointments because the system doesn't work." This makes no sense--why allow customers to book appointments online if the system isn't reliable? It feels dishonest and very disappointing. If I didn't have an urgent deadline (8/22), I would have left immediately. Instead, I was forced to stay and wait, with no guarantee of being seen, while the lobby was already standing-room only and closing time was approaching. If I can give zero stars I would have. I will not return to this location. Poor communication, disorganization, and lack of respect for customers' time. Once I was finally brought in, after I went to the front desk again and let them know I had a 1015 appointment they were able to see me right away. Once I was in the person who is assisting me was very nice and professional. I did not feel the job when she had to draw blood. Make sure to bring your order before visiting any labcorp clinic. Their system is only for labcorp and they don't have a care everywhere where they can see your order from other hospitals. Even if you already have a copy of previous order in their system they mentioned they don't have the copy coz it's gone from the system. If you have a standing order and visited a different labcorp office, you still have to bring your order. Example. If you have an order that will expire in 6 months and visited Alex clinic it will not work or apply to other labcorp clinic within the area coz they don't have access to it or access to Alex labcorp system. Springfield order is only for springfield order. Alex has no access to springfield according the the employees I talked too. Been going here for years for any urinalysis or blood draws. It depends on the technician but sometimes the blood draw will sting more than others and sometimes leave a bruise if someone isn't gentle enough (it's all about technique), but staff is typically pleasant overall. Place is also always clean and always busy. We always did walk-ins and would have to wait about 30-40 min, which isn't always ideal when you're fasting, need to hold the pee for the urinalysis, or are trying to be quick before work, so for my last visit I used the reservation system! Definitely recommend reservation/appointment! I sat in my car rather than the waiting room, got the text message and walked inside to check in at the normal check in kiosk. Within 5-10 min I was taken to the back, and within another 10 minutes I was out of there ! Way faster this way and I'll continue to do it this way from now on! read more

The phlebotomists are professional and great at what they do. No multiple attempts to catch a vein, they get it done with the 1st attempt. Holy cow, I really hate leaving bad reviews, but it feel like I owe it others to let everyone know to avoid this place. Came here to get some routine blood work done. I picked this lab because the promoted the "Wait Anywhere" feature. Basically I do everything ahead of time online like submit all my information and insurance, and even prepay so don't have to do anything when I go in. I could check in from my phone and wait in my car until they were ready for me. Note: I have used a different location of LabCorp in the past so the also had my information on file already as well. Big mistake! I go in once they text me they are ready. The waiting room has all the chairs piled up in a corner of an 8x8 waiting room and the room is filled with no less than 5 adults and 6 kids running around. I told the front desk that "you texted me" and they proceed to ask me for my insurance cards (I already submitted this!) and tells me to wait. WTF. My skin is already crawling as I stand here for 10 more minutes. Children are all over 2 and no masks anywhere. I get called to the back and am lead through 2 rooms as the technician/receptionist (why is she doing it all) walks me past 4 different people to try to find a seat and then tells me to go back out to the waiting room cause there is no space yet.Why did you say you were ready when there's no space available yet? I finally get a seat and I notice the wide open door to the restroom that connects to the room I was in. Completely mortified and unfortunately too stunned to just walk away as I was already tied up at the arm for my blood work. Why is that just left open? So I've used this labs services several times, and my wait times have been minimal. I've stopped in without an appointment and have never had to wait more than 15 minutes. So from my experience the process at this lab has been mostly trouble free. However, I would have to agree that the customer service here could use a little work. It is not so much of what anyone said or did, but attitude; a little bit of friendliness can go a long way to winning a customer over. And of course there is the issue of being a bit bruised and battered after a blood draw. Theirs was the first time that I ever had any bruising after a blood draw..I felt like a ripe avocado after the whole thing was over. I will say this location is better than the other labcorp I've gone to near me, but I recently had a very frustrating issue. Almost two weeks ago I had two doctors orders for blood work that needed to be done at the same time. One doctor ordered two different things to be drawn; the one more important than the other. I have severe iron deficiency and my iron needed to be drawn ASAP. After waiting 10 days for results I realized something must be wrong. Finally, I had my doctor contact labcorp and turns out they never performed the iron panel. I've been very sick. I came to the same labcorp today asking them to take me as soon as possible. They were not at all apologetic and did not take me right away. They basically just told me to wait. The waiting room was freezing and I started losing circulation in my extremities (partially due to my iron deficiency.) I will not be coming here again- very poor customer service. The staff and nurse were professional and friendly, so no complaints there. My complaint is for the facility itself and the wait time. I waited for about an hour in a sweltering, flooded waiting room. You read that right -- the waiting room was easily around 80 degrees with the heat blasting (it was around 50 degrees outside) and the adjoining bathroom flooded and the water spread into the waiting area. Multiple people complained about the heat, but no effort to turn it down or off was made by the staff. So you have an overpacked waiting room with more people than chairs, 80 degree heat, and bathroom water all over the floor. I will never return to this Labcorp location again. read more

I do not know what the issue other people have with this LabCorp. I have been going here for years and never had any of the problems they encounter (and I have lab work done at least 4-6x a year). Are the super friendliest in the world? No. But I don't need to be their friend. I need to get my labs done. So here's a tip. Have your ID and Insurance cards handy. Make sure you have a copy of your lab work order. Also please keep in mind they probably see dozens of people a day, and dealt with dozens of people who didn't come prepared. Okay this is my second review of this labcorp. I went there again today. Again, it was amazing. Tonya the phlebotomist was amazing. I wore a long-sleeved shirt that was hard to take off (because I am a fool to make that tight shirt selection the day of a blood draw), and she offered to draw my blood from MY HAND. I normally don't visit labcorp but in the past year have gone twice to this location and I'm loving labcorp's new checking process from your car. They text when ready and you walk in, wait to be called and in and out within ten minutes. I'm not sure why they have terrible reviews maybe learn how to check in online do everything online beforehand not a walk-in. Been coming here on and off for several years. This review is for my last visit though. Definitely worth making an appointment online ahead of time. After checking in on the kiosk I was immediately called to the desk to hand over my paperwork. This was before someone who didn't have an appointment, which I appreciated, since at locations in Maryland I've waited more than 15-20 minutes despite having an appointment. (They helped the person that got there before me immediately after me). I've also been known to have difficult veins when drawing blood where it's taken 20-30 minutes at other places, they've had to use hand warmers to get my blood circulating, they wiggle the needle around, etc. But here Rommel and Abby seem to take their time and get it right the first time. I was told Rommel no longer works at this location, but Abby and the new manager Lauren seem really efficient and friendly. Honestly despite moving to Maryland, I'm contemplating making the trek to this location every 6 months to get blood work if it goes this smoothly each time. read more

Pros: Staff was efficient. Although I did not have an appointment, I was taken in as a walk-in and had my blood drawn within 20 minutes. Not bad. Cons: Although they reduced the # of seats available in waiting area to just two spaced apart (COVID precaution), they did not reduce the # of people waiting. There were as many as 12 people waiting at one time--all in a small space. There were about 8 people waiting for a procedure, but several of them were accompanied by their children or were handicapped people accompanied by an aide. So, it was dangerously crowded (COVID) for the space. Moreover, two of the people were not wearing masks (despite the signs indicating masks were required), and no staff person addressed this rule infraction. THE WORST WITH CHILDREN!!!! We took my daughter in today and my daughter hates needles and cries every time she is there. While my daughter was crying we tried speaking to her and encouraging her to calm down enough for the phlebotomist lady to draw her blood. Instead of respecting our space and boundaries by allowing us to do our job as parents to calm her down, she kept butting into the equation by making jokes and comments that were offensive to my daughter which made her cry even more.. Are these people not trained on how to approach a situation where there might be a child crying because they are afraid??? It's absolutely ridiculous how this lady disrespected us as parents. If you are not the parent do not get involved. Things would have been much easier had she had us do our job as parents so that she could do her job as a phlebotomist. Went here in the afternoon to get blood drawn for an A1C check. This tests measures blood sugar over a three month average. Lady at the front desk asked if I had been fasting. I said no. She said I would have to come back another time when I was fasting, so I left. After reflecting upon past blood draws for this test and doing some research, I realized she was wrong. So I have been to this location a few times, and I have had better experiences elsewhere. This visit was slightly, borderline blah. I made an appointment online, which is essential for this location. I have been here without an appointment and it can be terrifying. I was the first patron in the door. I was NOT greeted promptly and engaged the staff at the desk which seemed more inclined to talk gossip with one another than greet a patron. They eventually greeted me and directed me to the kiosk which was not super easy but I made my way through. BTW if you have your online form printed w the QR code, you just scan that right away. I did not realize that, and just entered all the data I previously did the night before, so pretty much wasted time. Again directions at the kiosk poor. Again, I was the ONLY patient at the opening. They told me to be seated after I paid my co-pay, which was confusingly explained. I sat for about 5 minutes, before a technician retrieved me... again only patient in the waiting room. The staff was distracted and I basically had to find the room for which they were conducting the lab work, on my own. Finally the technician conducted the lab work, quick and easy for that part. I did notice she peaked at her phone while conducting the lab work. Really? You cant wait 30 secs to look at your phone until after I am done? I have seen good comments and bad ones, and I can believe them all, more the bad ones. read more

After today, I don't think I'll ever come back to this particular LabCorp location. I know how wait times can be during the day so I try to avoid it by waking up extra early to get to this LabCorp when they open at 7am. In the past, I've learned that they open their doors even earlier so you can at least sign your name and wait until they start calling people's names at 7am. But on this particular day, I arrived some time around 6:40am that the office building wasn't even open. I waited a few minutes outside the door before starting to head to my car to wait. Then I hear the building door unlock so I open it and I head inside towards the LabCorp office. Obviously it was still locked since I had just walked in so I wait in the lobby. A lady walks in and I recognize her from being the one at the front desk and I smile at her and follow her to the office. But as she's opening the door she says uncongenially "We don't open until 7". So I say, "oh ok, so I can't wait inside?" And she says again, "We open at 7," and walks in. I got the impression she didn't want me to follow her so I wait in the lobby. A few minutes later a young lady walks in and I see her walking towards the LabCorp office and I hear the door open. I'm thinking she's probably inside and I'll just wait a few seconds to see if she'll come back out because it's only 6:50am. After like 15 seconds, I walk into the office and sure enough I see this young lady sitting down in the waiting room. I walk over to the sign in sheet and her name is already at the top of the list. I'm fuming inside and I'm so upset that I almost wanted to cry (I'm a very sensitive person). I know the front desk lady could tell my demeanor changed. If this front desk lady is going to be unrelenting about letting people in at a particular time, then she needs to be consistent about it. It's an awful feeling to be treated unfairly. As I waited, I looked up reviews of this place and even though they are about a year or older, it is still the same. On the other hand, the technicians are phenomenal because not only are they friendly, they do a good job drawing my blood with less bruising. The facility is also pretty clean and it helps that this is close to where I live. If I were to rate based on the positives, of course I would give a higher rating. This isn't my first time at this LabCorp and there were times I've had a pretty good experience. I've gone here multiple times this past year for regular lab works and while I was pregnant I've had to do the 3 hour glucose test, too. No bruising and much less blood on my band-aid after. Front desk can be a bit odd putting but if you put on your best smile and sweetest voice they can be nice(ish) back. Yes wait times can be long so believe me I'm sure the front desk has had their share of irate people making them the way they are. Don't bring children if you can help it! Came here at 9:10am on a Saturday for a 9:15am appointment for a blood test for my 1 year old baby. There were approximately 30 people in the waiting room and 15 chairs. I notified the receptionist that I had an appointment and was told to go have a seat. I assume that was a joke. I was taken after a 10 minute wait, which isn't too long, but we had nowhere to sit so it was uncomfortable to be standing in the waiting room with so many people. They had nothing to immobilize the baby's arm and told my wife to hold his arm steady. Since he's a baby, he was very squirmy and would not sit still and my wife was not able to steady his arm. The lady doing the blood draw yelled at us several times that we weren't keeping his arm steady even though there was nothing we could do about it. I have been a customer of Labcorp Springfield location for over 10 years. To begin my review I taught customer service for 35 years and have a clue about how to treat patrons. The New automated check in is numbing. Unfriendly, no placer to set cards and perception paper work, times out, wrong height for wheel chair patient's, to many steps, does not account for patrons who are repeat customers, did not prompt me to hand prescription to the desk and dare feel sick it makes the visit WORSE.
