Having come to 30A for years now, this is one of the most underwhelming establishments I've visited yet. The food is alright but it certainly is not up to par enough for the inadequate and substandard service. After being seated a waiter did not come to the table for an extended period of time and when drinks were ordered they did not arrive out for almost 15 minutes. I was in PCB for vacation and stayed in the community where la Cocina is. My mom and I was waiting outside because it opened at 11, so we were sitting outside for about 20 minutes prior. At 11 I tried opening the door and the hostess just watched me. It wasn't until about 11:06 when someone who was already in the restaurant for breakfast tried to get out is when the hostess opened up the door. That was weird. Other than that I had the chicken quesadilla, it honestly tastes like canned shredded chicken if you ask me and my guac was brown. I can probably eat it daily.. but we were hesitant going to eat at La Cocina because we had just got to Rosemary, wanted to check other places out rather than just going to the go-to Mexican place. But turns out we did and MANNN I'm glad we did. Everything was great. Everything.. from the food, drinks, service, our waitress, the atmosphere ...we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Very crowded and loud. You can put your name on waiting list. They text when table ready. On a Saturday night it will be so loud you can't hear the waiter. The queso is $8. Ok. As a local y'all suck, you can't even do the simplest task and you charge far too much for low quality stuff, your staff is careless and rude. I made an order online for 2 burritos, waited an hour before coming to pick up then waited inside for 2 whole hours, to then receive the wrong thing then being told the kitchen is closed and can not fix so was given soggy nachos for the inconvenience. As starving as I was I began to eat outside while they closed restaurant and waited for my boyfriend to pick me back up because he got tired of waiting. We only live 10 minutes away... thankfully. But then, food poisoning, never in my life have I felt so ill in the bathroom with a trash can in my lap on the toilet. Stopped in here for lunch before checking into the beach house. Waitress was quick, helpful, and attentive. Top shelf margarita was really good and they have several liquors to choose from. Chips and salsa are no longer free but they were good, and came with 3 different heat levels of salsa. Pineapple habanero salsa is the hottest and had quite a kick on the first bite. After that it was really good. I got the chicken taco salad and it was plenty of food. Fresh corn, black beans, cheese, and salad greens under a bed of seasoned chicken in a deep Fred shell. Plus it had some sauce on the side that tied it all together. The decor has been upgraded since we last came and it was really modern inside. I never thought I'd find in North Florida the incredible symphony of flavors I'd been spoiled to in Peru, but this chef nails it! The chef and staff are sharp about accommodating food allergies (even for celiac). This is a GEM! Don't go expecting the typical Mexican or TexMex cuisine, this place explores Latin cuisine much more broadly. Servers are spot-on,, attentive, courteous and knowledgeable. La Cocina used to be one of the only places I would have to go to while in Florida, but now I probably won't ever go again. A little bit of change isn't a problem, but it seems like it isn't even the same place anymore. While the food is still okay, it is nowhere close to what it used to be. I don't know if it was a change in chefs or a change in ownership, but whatever it was ruined the restaurant. Seriously one of the best meals we've had on 30a! I ordered the brisket empanadas and they were fantastic. My husband ordered the skirt steak and pork belly tacos, and he wouldn't even share they were so good. Pretty basic style 'Mexican' food. Easy to get to, easy to access.. plenty of seating. Service was unnecessarily slow given that we were one of 3 tables, with 2 servers when we walked in. The food was good though.. it's just difficult to give a place like this a more than 3 star rating when it is so basic. It was nice that the chef or a chef ran the food to the table and was very nice and personable. It just all felt a bit lack-luster to me. Was the food good.. yea it was ok.. was it spectacular? No not so much. Would I go back.. maybe because I didn't see anything else like it when I was in the area.. but it's not the best Mexican food I have had. This restaurant impressed me! The food is excellent and service is top notch. The place is spacious and has great decor. The drinks are expensive, but the food is a good value. Salsa is smoky and heavy on the cilantro - just how I like it. The menu features various shrimp and fish options (fish was mahi mahi on my visit), but my favorite item was the mole chicken enchilada. We tried La Cocina last night because it was close to our rental house with some reservation due to the 3.5 stars on yelp. It is definitely a solid 3 stars. First, they violate the Mexican Restaurants shouldn't charge for salsa and chips - $3.00 charge per basket of chips / salsa. The overall service was pretty good but the margaritas weren't. 3 out of 5 didn't think their dinners were very good. El Burrito bowl was not as good as Chipotle and a lot more expensive. My son said his Quesadilla was a 9/10. I had two tacos the chorizo and classic - they were both ok but $5 for a 4" corn taco, each. The Mexican corn was good but I've had better and $7 for a side of corn is but much. The queso appetizer was very good - everyone liked the queso. My youngest had chicken tenders and fries and didn't eat much of them. Overall, kind of pricey and the food was just mediocre. read more

I generally rate restaurants the way I rate movies. Are they good at what they are good for? La Cocina definitely is! We were here twice during a four-day stay in Rosemary Beach, and we would have returned if we'd been staying longer. We went the first time for dinner after a long day at the beach. La Cocina does NOT accept reservations, so we just arrived at 5 p.m. when they opened. We were famished from the sun and sand and waves, and I was pretty thirsty, so I went for the frozen house specialty margarita, the La CoRita, which is a margarita with a swirl of sangria. Divine! It was perfect after the hot, sunny day, completely refreshing! I ordered guacamole to go with the chips, as I do not like salsa, and they make some of the best guacamole I have ever had! Super fresh, flavorful and light and cool. Perfect! My husband started with the tortilla soup, which practically looks like a work of art when served and then he had the beef burrito. I got a high-five from the waiter when I chose the lobster quesadilla. He said it is one of the best things that the restaurant makes, and it was really good. It had huge chunks of lobster that tasted so fresh! My husband really enjoyed his meal, as well. Instead of dessert, I just ordered another La CoRita! We came back for lunch on a rainy day. I intended to just order guacamole and chips, but I tried the quesadilla (just cheese), and it was really the perfect snack. My husband was a little overwhelmed by his nachos. There was a mountain of them! But he really enjoyed what he had. Both times the service was attentive, personable and prompt, and we enjoyed our time there. We went to La Cocina against our better judgement. We're from Texas and it is hard to find Mexican food that compares to what we're used to eating at home. Our server was nice. We had two servers helping to keep our drinks filled and that was appreciated. We ordered the "cheese dip" (we call it queso) and the guacamole. While the guac was good, it was nothing more than the prepackaged stuff you buy at the store. Then they doctored it up with some cilantro. Definitely not worth the $8 they charge for it. The cheese dip was okay too. My kids all ate it. I got a ground beef taco and sour cream chicken enchilada. The ground beef taco looked like the same beef I get in a Taco Bell taco and the tortilla was just a store bought tortilla. The enchilada sour cream sauce was pretty good. My husband got fish tacos and the fish was very tender and juicy. My oldest got nachos and forgot that they make them differently in Florida so he didn't like them. The other kids enjoyed their kids meals. Our ticket was $108 for six people, $130 after tip. RIDICULOUSLY OVER PRICED for food we could have made at home. We would not go back here unless it were the last place on earth and our lives depended on it. read more

The first thing I look for in a restaurant is the ambience. A+ The second thing I look for is a welcoming staff. A+ Then...the cocktails. For me, this can make or break a place. I had a passion fruit mojito. A+ There were 9 different mojito flavors to choose from and a wide variety of other very delicious and inviting other cocktails. Ah, if I only had more time..... The food was good. We had shrimp fajitas that were tasty. The veggies were definitely fresh and the rice and beans were good. My husband had the shrimp diablo and it was even better (it is spicier and had much more flavor than the shrimp in the fajitas). I would definitely recommend this place for its food, ambience, and service. The bartender was as friendly as she could be. She is a local and gave us several tips about things to do around town.
