We ate here twice on our recent trip to Seacrest Beach and both times we had a great experience! The first visit was lunch and the waitress was clearly slammed but she did a terrific job of making sure she got to us and refilled our waters, brought more chips and chatted with our kids despite being so busy! Kudos to hiring professionals. We had the ceviche which was a bit tart but very good and fresh. The kids portions are huge and they loved their burritos. The cheese dip is good and what you are probably used to and the chips are plentiful. The best part were the cocktails, I recommend the Cool Hand Cuke which is Tito's vodka, muddles cucumbers and lime and Sprite. There may have been St.Germain in there as well, it was refreshing and delicious! The top shelf margarita was also fantastic. On our second visit we came with another family for dinner and it was packed so we sat in the bar and had the BEST service!!! Awesome waitresses here, thanks folks! Went there with our family of 7. We were promptly seated and water, chips and salsa were delivered to the table. The chips were light and crisp. Salsa was not too spicy and tasted delicious. Our server got our drink order while we looking the menu over. Our drinks (tea and coke) were delivered promptly. I took the servers recommendation for lobster quesadilla. My wife and daughter ordered chicken fajitas for two. My son ordered a plain beef taco and a plain chicken taco and rice. My daughters friend ordered the chicken strip basket. And my mother-in-law and father-in-law ordered specials. All of the food was delivered within 15 minutes of ordering. Everything was tasty. No one had anything negative to say about their food. Our server was by our table several times to refill our tea and coke. All in all it was a very enjoyable dinner. We will go back again. Prices were nominal and did not strike me as out of line. Beware of tacos with descriptions that focus on the sauce. In retrospect, I should have known better. The fish tacos I received from La Cocina's fish tacos were swimming in the sauce, a standard white tartar, the restaurant glorifies in their menu. There was so much sauce that the tortilla on my second taco dissolved. Not that it matters much for the taste, but to me, these looked like little burritos not tacos. But hey, we pay for the presentation too right? By the way, draft beers are $3. Margs are $9-$12. read more

On our recent vacation we ate at places from Destin all the way to Panama City. This was one of our favorite meals!!! The waiter/bartender was attentive and friendly, we told him we love the food and he mentioned they brought in a new chef to liven up the menu and put a fresh spin on their items. Everything was really good, I had the lobster quesadillas, daughter had the empanadas, and husband had the fajitas and everyone loved their food. So, I was a bit cautious to eat here based on the Yelp reviews. I had a coworker recommend this to me before a trip to Florida and there aren't too many other Mexican restaurants in the area, so my group stopped here. We arrived around 7:30 and there was only one group ahead of us. We were told the wait wouldn't be too bad (I think it was about 15-20 minutes). However, when we were seated at our table, it took awhile before anyone came over at all. It was kind of odd. Anyway, server finally came over, ordered someone else to bring us chips and salsa (which were REALLY good!), and took our drink orders. We asked her about the cost of a pitcher and she had to go check on it for us. We ultimately decided to each get an individual drink. I had the pineapple margarita and while it was good, I think it was overpriced. I had the mole enchiladas and the barbacoa enchiladas. PHENOMENAL! Especially the mole. I'd like to just get a plate of those. With that said, the beans and rice were nothing special. In fact, I didn't like the beans at all. Reminded me of the Ranch brand of beans my mom forced on me as a child...I've never disliked refried beans at a Mexican restaurant, so this was weird. My friend ordered the sour cream chicken enchiladas and I don't know which I liked better between our two orders. I'll just make sure to get those next time! Overall, the entrees were good, drinks were tasty but pricey, and service was off, but I wouldn't skip a meal here for any of those reasons. read more

Great Mexican food! When we stay at The Village, we usually come here for lunch at least once during our week stay since dinner time looks way too crowded. Food is great though and affordable compared to the other restaurants in the area. Definitely a good place to come to if you have kids or looking to watch how much you spend. Our bartender, Daniel, was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided excellent recommendations. La Cocina has plenty of drink selections. Their house margarita was good, but their top shelf margarita topped the charts. With nine different tequilas to chose from, the top shelf margarita was our favorite. Food portion sizes were larger than expected. The guacamole appetizer's smooth texture was delicious and satisfied our immediate hunger needs. We enjoyed the atmosphere, friendly staff, and the good food. We will be back. read more

Bland tasteless mush, no sizzling platter, luke warm chicken, tortillas like sticky dough, toppings out of a can. Decided to try this place on a Friday night. I lived Mexico years ago so Mexican food is always a favorite. It was busy but we did not have to wait for a table. Our waitress Claudia was terrific. Friendly, animated, and attentive. The food was less impressive. The chips and salsa were very good. The salsa had just enough zip to it and was tasty and fresh. Their "famous" lobster quesadilla was good but not great. It is a large portion. Almost enough for a meal. It is expensive but for the portion size it is reasonably priced. The tacos were not nearly as good. My friend liked the fish tacos but I was less impressed with the carnitas. The meat was good but a bit bland. The tortillas were horrid. It's like they came from a package that you can buy at Publix. Very disappointing. I should have had something else. All in all, it was ok Mexican food in a nice setting with a great wait staff. I would try it again but not in the near future. Too many other places in the area to sample first. read more

Super convenient location to where we were staying and the staff was great. We got queso (small was plenty for two), and the chicken, steak, and pork belly tacos. The steak was the best one of the 3- chicken had bacon bits on it which was interesting, and there wasn't enough pork belly to get a really good bite. read more

I live in Seacrest and have eaten here a few times because it's convenient and the food is ok. The service has been hit or miss. This summer service has gotten much worse. I just left there (for the last time) picking up a to-go order. The person serving me handed me my ticket and said "gratuity is expected". I asked her to clarify because I could not believe she said this. She confirmed it. I remember when servers earned gratuity through good service. There was no service here other than taking my money, handing me a bag of food and saying "gratuity is expected". We have heard that this is the same company the operates George's. Hard to believe the same group operates one of our favorite and one of our least favorite local restaurants. read more

We stumbled upon La Co and could not have had a better experience. Our rental house wouldn't let us check in for 4 more hours, so we had all of our luggage with us and needed to get some work done, as well. The La Co staff were so welcoming and set us up at a table and kept the food and drinks flowing for as long as we needed. They were great about checking in but not being too overbearing about it. Meh... we are from Texas so it's hard to beat Tex mex but sometimes quick Mexican food is what you need when you're at the beach. We've come here every year for the last 4 years, this year they started charging for their chips and salsa which is annoying to me. However, their beef nachos were amazing and huge! Seacrest is our 2nd home. Our condo is actually right above the restaurant. We make this one of our "must go to" places when we're here. I want to say LOUDLY that the prices are not expensive. They are the average prices for the area. Go anywhere and prices are the same, period. This area is higher end which brings prices up everywhere including these restaurants overhead. If this is your problem then Panama City is right down the road. I highly recommend the cheese dip with chips and salsa. My wife enjoys the margaritas. Great place for kids and families. read more

Great for large parties. Some dishes were really good. Fajitas are excellent. Other dishes were ok--meh. I felt nickeled-and-dimed by the way everything, including salsa, is a la cart. I don't mind paying more while on vacation, so it's not about the money. But when the price comes up over and over, it's kind of annoying. Our waitress was not very attentive or cheerful. She might have been slammed by the dinner rush, but then maybe they should hire more staff. I've found most dinning establishments in this area seem under staffed for the spring break rush. Food comes out quickly but wait staff (in this case) lacking in personality and service. A smile would be nice. read more

Great choice for Mexican in Rosemary! After searching far and wide for a dinner out anywhere from Santa Rosa to Panama City Beach, we ended up staying close by. When we arrived, we put our names on the list and informed that the wait would be 45 minutes. We were able to walk around, and and rather than given a buzzer, we were notified when our table was ready by text. We ended up waiting only 30 minutes before being seated and promptly given warm tortilla chips and salsa. Our waitress was funny and very helpful. We would recommend the enchiladas (we all ended up getting Verde sauce, even when the chicken originally came with Molé). The only thing about La Concina that was subpar (besides the wait) was the virgin piña coladas - they were way too sweet/strong and over priced. read more

La Cocina is one of the only Mexican restaurants I could find, aside from more fast-casual joints. The food was pretty good, decently average and hits the spot. The chips are kind of a soggy, oily mess, to be honest. The margarita was sold to us as "the best in the area" and it was actually very good and strong -- true facts! Overall, the prices were staggering and there was little variety in these dishes. Our waiter Benito was amazing --- so friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. I'd come back just for him! He's the one who recommended the margarita and the man knows his stuff. The place is big, but gets crowded. Get there early for dinner if you want to skip the line. read more

My husband was craving ceviche on our recent trip to Santa Rosa, and after looking at several menus, we decided to give this place a try. As soon as we walked in, I realized that we were a bit overdressed as the restaurant was more casual than we had anticipated. It had the typical decor of a chain restaurant, which made me skeptical about the quality of the food, but we were hungry and decided to roll with it. When you're at the beach for a week, it gets especially important to find something other than grouper and shrimp from time to time. La Cocina is a great zag when you've been overfished. The lobster quesadillas are a consistent favorite and the salsa is decent. The steak is always cooked to order and the brisket tacos are a solid choice, too. It's not Frank Stitt quality here, but its a nice change of pace at the beach. Just okay. I expected better quality for the location. The margaritas were terrible. Chips, salsa and queso were just okay. I had chicken nachos. There were about 5 "cubes" of frozen type chicken chunks on them. They tasted bad so I scooped them off. The nachos otherwise could have been decent. But they were covered in stinky powdered cheese. Yuck. I've never seen powdered cheese on nachos. My husband had a steak taco. Again, just okay. If you are in the mood for good Mexican at the beach, try elsewhere.
