For a party of around 11 it took 30 minutes to order and 2 hours to get our food. We had two tables together and our second table that I was at never got our drink orders taken. They brought us some water and chips. They just kept bringing chip basket after chip basket. We would have all our baskets full just waiting for our food and they would take them away and bring us more chips. We would be out of water and they'd bring us more chips. My family loves this place. Their salsa was a unique flavor, which I found addicting. My father and I ordered their version of a chimichanga, the first time I've ever had one, and I was not disappointed. The burrito was stuffed with meat, no fillers. I couldn't even finish half of mine. My husband had a beef burrito and absolutely loved it, also finding the portions to be huge. The consensus around the table (6 of us) was a big thumbs up. Horrible..... I ordered a quesadilla the first bite into it had 4 chicken bones... On top of that our waitress showed up only 3 times. We told her about the chicken bones and she replied "oh was that in the quesadilla"? Then walked away. Service is terrible! read more

Margarita was great. That's it. Restaurant has an awesome appeal, food was terrible. Guac was rotten, ground beef was comparable to Spam. Fiancé witnessed a cook walk directly from the bathroom stall to the kitchen and begin cooking, WITHOUT washing hands. Yuck! read more

Went there today. We were really looking forward to it. We waited and waited for a table. Tables were empty but they had not been cleaned. Hostess said we could wait in the bar area. The bartop was full of dirty dishes still sitting there from previous customers and the tables were nasty with food all over them. They are obviously short on help. After waiting 40 minutes we gave up and left and went to another restaurant where we were greeted warmly and seated immediately with excellent service. read more

The yelp checkin for a free margarita was a nice unexpected touch. The food was pretty good but nothing to rave about, it is hard to go wrong with chicken and rice covered in cheese. We ended up here by default on our first night in town because the hostess at Acme ice house around the corner was very rude to us and told us we would have to wait outside on a cold night--even though there were dozens of empty tables and we should have been able to be seated immediately. So we kept on walking and ended up at La Cocina which clearly wAs the place to be anyway as it was packed and we had a fifteen minute wait. No matter though, there was plenty of seating while we waited and we chatted happily. We were seated within 10 minutes and were greeted by our "A-MAAA-SING" (clearly pronounced as such) server Hector. Here is a man who clearly loves people and his job. He immediately friended us with good humor, acting as though we'd met before and exclaiming things like "you're looking good" and "look how big you've gotten!" To my 18 year old daughter. He had us in stitches and we played right along. Hector brought us chips and salsa and queso right away and made some recommendations for us when we were clearly having a hard time making choices. The grilled fish tacos were delicious, as he said they would be. I wish I'd taken a picture--but something tells me we will be back this week to see Hector again. Hector! Hector! Hector! I feel this is necessary after reading these reviews! Wow! We got lucky with having Hector serve us and everyone is right. He gives incredible service. However, the help from the other staff members truly gives this place GREAT customer service. Chips were replaced before we could even get to the bottom of the basket, and frequent check ups by everyone made for a great experience! The food lives up to the service my friends! Fish tacos, an order of the jalapeño slaw, and corn on the cob! Delicioso! That was enough to split between two of us. Their drinks are all "on point"! You can't go wrong here, unless you expect and want a cheap, indistinguishable Mexican food plate. (The one that all blends together by tomato sauce and cheese. The food is good - nice salad with grilled shrimp and a good flat iron steak, good sized portion of guacamole - but the service average at best, the restaurant is HOT (crank up the AC), there are no happy hour drink prices and there are TONS of flies. I even mentioned it to the waiter "wow, there are so many flies!" His response was, "yeah, there have been a lot of them this season". What? Figure out how to get rid of them - It's awful to swat flies when you're trying to eat!!! read more
