The waiter we had was outstanding: entertaining but also very attentive. My dad is very picky and he enjoyed it so much he wanted to go back for breakfast. The food is good - nice salad with grilled shrimp and a good flat iron steak, good sized portion of guacamole - but the service average at best, the restaurant is HOT (crank up the AC), there are no happy hour drink prices and there are TONS of flies. I even mentioned it to the waiter "wow, there are so many flies!" His response was, "yeah, there have been a lot of them this season". What? We really enjoyed our meal here. The service was great. We never ran out of drink before getting a refill. The chips and salsa were good. The basket of chips was huge and the salsa was tasty. Our food was good. I had the fish tacos, and they were full of flavor. My husband enjoyed his taco and enchilada plate. The kids both liked their chicken burritos, as well. Truly excellent service, especially in a seasonal area, is VERY rare mostly because of a lack of quality staff and/or enough time to train them. Our meal tonight at La Cocina was simply exceptional. Our server, Michelle, offered several recommendations (for me it was the lobster quesadillas, awesome), was extremely attentive to all of our needs, and was the perfect amount of friendly while maintaining her professionalism. The chips and salsa on the table at the beginning of the meal were great, our drinks were great, and our meals were even better. Let me just say that the server that we had was amazing I did not get their name but they were very attentive and nice. that being said the food was not up to par. I had asked to not have mushrooms on my fajitas and it came filled with them. My mother got the lobster quesadilla and it barely had any lobster. The crema was very watered down and it basically was not solidified at all. Another thing was they advertised the ceviche y crudos as vegetarian when there is clearly fish in it. LaCocina is a very family-friendly place. We were told on phone it would be an hour wait. When we checked in, they told us thirty minutes but it turned out to be only fifteen minutes. Wow. Our group loved the chips. Their guacamole is excellent. I ordered the lobster which was scrumptious! Fish tacos were just ok. Cadillac margaritas were super. James did an excellent job as our server. His first order of business was to clean up the bowl of salsa our granddaughter knocked over. Boy was he patient! I highly recommend this place. Excellent food! Great attention to food quality and flavor. The portion sizes were good, not too big or small. We tried several different items and they were all excellent. The only down side was that we were swatting flies the whole meal. Its hard to enjoy your food when you're trying to keep bugs off it. But I will definitely be back. Visited La Cocina as we always do on vacation. First night here. Every year my experience here deteriorates. Ordered the Bueno Burrito with Chicken. Son had the seafood quesadilla. He loved his. It was busting with lobster, shrimp, and crab. It was hot and cooked well. It was extremely rich and sat heavy shortly after on his stomach but he liked it very much. My Bueno Burrito was no bueno. The Burrito itself was doughy and wet, and the insides were cold. The shredded cheese was still cold and not melted at all. We ordered and it was there in 5 minutes so I think someone forgot to cook it. The chicken itself had good flavor. I personally am not a fan of Mexican rice. So between the doughy sticky wrap and the cold insides I couldn't eat much of my meal. They were busy but not that busy. They need to eat at El Charro in Tucson to see what great food tastes like. Oldest Mexican restaurant in US and amazing. The guacamole was barely diced and you couldn't scoop the half dollar sized chunks onto a chip without the chips breaking. Underwhelming. We had to use forks and chop up the guac to even be able to scoop it at all. I do love their salsa. And the chips are thin and crisp and light. Margarita was extremely good. Not too sour and very smooth. Salvaged the meal for me. But 62 for this food and one drink is pretty expensive. I would come here for drinks and chips and salsa and be thrilled! read more

La Cocina turned out to be a real disappointment. We saved this dinner for our last night because we expected it to be so good and it was just okay. Not great but not awful either. We had a party of 10 and the service was a little slow. I recommend sitting inside because we were swarmed with flys on the side patio. They were so bad actually that we wished we had waited the 40 minutes for an indoor table. We came here because the wait at George's in Alys Beach was already over an hour at 5:30 p.m. We realized after we arrived that this was a sister restaurant. We called ahead and were seated promptly. We had a large group and our waitress did a good job of serving our party. All of the food was pretty good - My fish tacos were definitely better than my husband's appetizer sampler and the chips, salsa and queso were fine. The fish tacos were huge, and I ended up sharing half of my meal with my husband. As with many places down on the 30A, the prices were high for the meal compared to the Atlanta area and it isn't the most authentic, but considering we were seated quickly and were able to park easily in the parking lot, I would say it is a good bet for this area. read more

This restaurant was our first stop when arriving in Rosemary Beach/Seacrest for the weekend, and it was very disappointing. The margaritas and chips and salsa were decent (why I gave it 2 stars), but the food left a lot to be desired. I got the taco/enchilada combo with a chicken mole enchilada and carnitas soft taco. The mole sauce was way too sweet, the carnitas taco was very basic and not very flavorful. I found the Refried beans very bland, and the Mexican rice was dry. My boyfriend got the fish tacos, which had a good size serving of fish but was simply fish plus some mixed greens in a tortilla. This is your typical Mexican restaurant - the food is good and during the summer it is packed. What stood out was the excellent service from our waiter, Hector. He was very personable and attentive. We had a friend show up after we ordered our food. He noticed and immediately came to our table to take her order and was able to rush it in so her food came out at the same time as ours. He joked that he had to steal somebody else's order but I am sure he just worked with the kitchen to make it happen. The place and our waiter was very busy but we never felt rushed and our waiter was always calm and attentive. I hope he is there when we go back next year- he made our night! Food was okay, but after letting the waitress know we just had the second insect scurry across the table, we only received a very weak apology. We were not asking for a discount or anything, just shocked our concern was not respected. We still ate our meal and didn't bring home leftover food. I kid not, but as we were leaving, one of our sons noticed a bug in his soda! By far our worst dining experience over the past 30 years.
