My family has been going down to 30A for years now and there are a lot of excellent restaurants, but this is definitely not one. The service was so slow-- we had to grab the attention of a server to finally get our waiter over. Then, when our food finally came out, it was cold, plated horribly and not fresh at all. So sad! La Cocina used to be our favorite go-to casual spot, and as owners down here, we ate here above 6-8 times per year. We've always had to wait during the season, but EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED. It's no longer first come first serve in the bar area, the menu has completely changed, they have jacked the prices up several dollars per entree, and the quality of the food is still the marginal food you would expect in a hole in the wall Mexican place... sort of hot and sort of flavorful. For a party of three (one kid), we spent over $100 on Mexican food... not again and certainly not after an hour wait... I am really bummed - we have so many happy family memories at La Cocina - guess we will be making new memories elsewhere! Hope they get realistic again! read more

This place just recently updated it menu and it was awesome. We had great service and the food came out pretty quick. The food was similar to what you will find at most Mexican restaurants but they have some of the best queso and salsas I have had at a Mexican joint. I will definitely be returning because a lot of their menu items seemed intriguing. Reasonably priced for the area it is in. read more

Just not as good as it used to be. We have eaten here during our vacations for many years but the food just isn't as good. Maybe the chef left or who knows what. Carnitas taco way too salty. Grilled chicken is just not Mexican grilled chicken. Was not worth it. we tried this place because we had an 11 hour drive and when we arrived it was late and it was right next door. first were told it would be a 30 to 45 minute wait. never had to wait anywhere for mexican. anyway we got a seat at the bar and i will say that the service was very good. however the food was not. very bland and tasteless. Great find on a hot day along 30-A between Rosemary and Alys beach. A great place to cool off in a lovely, air conditioned space. We ordered a custom made margarita and tasty grilled fish tacos. Our server, Hector, was super friendly and professional. We enjoyed their salsa and queso, both made in-house, with crispy chips. The tacos were delicious, featuring generous chunks of moist, grilled mackerel. The beans on the side had a lovely smokey flavor. We will return. And we will ask for Hector when we do. read more

We got in right before the rush and didn't have to wait at all! We had chips and salsa but also ordered the queso, which was the best i have ever had!!! We were a family of 5, all ordered different things and all were impressed. The food was great, the atmosphere was good, great for kids (its noisy) and our service was also great. We were not in the "Hector's" section everyone is talking about, but our waitress was great! We will return next time we are in Santa Rosa! read more

The chips are fried with the chicken fingers (we were told this fact when we asked if they were gluten free for a Celiac in our party) and they kinda taste like it, which was disappointing... because there's nothing like killer chips & salsa! Good atmosphere great service the food was just average. They cater well too large groups. Of course no restaurant has authentic Mexican food anymore but I would say that they have good guacamole. We took our 2 young grandchildren, son and daughter in law to enjoy lunch at La Cocina. Upon arriving we were told that they were not serving lunch until 11:30. We then noticed the sign upon walking back outside that indicated lunch service started at 11:30. So we killed 20 minutes of time with hungry children by walking around shopping. At 11:25 we were told it would be "3more minutes"..... at 11:30 we were told it would be 30 more minutes until lunch service would begin. At this point we were all past hungry and left.we were so disappointed on this holiday weekend not to eat at La Cocina. What has happened here???? read more

I got two fish tacos which were tiny and way too expensive ($8 each?!). One of the pieces of fish was no bigger than the size of my thumb. A house margarita was $10. The queso dip looked very cheaply made. Both my wife and I left irritated because of how much money we spent for such a small amount of average quality food. I hate to be this person...but as nice as our server was...location and decorations were nice...the food was pretty terrible. I've never tasted a more awful salsa. It was like ketchup! We ordered the bowl and it was served cold. They said this is how they serve it. It had maybe a spoonful of beans barely any flavor. Without the cheese dip we would have be super annoyed and hungry. We ate here twice while on vacation in Rosemary beach! It was so good the first time we came back on our last night! Very kid friendly. Delicious food. You can eat outside or inside. Easy to bike to. My son said the shrimp was the best he's ever had and he picked another order of shrimp instead of ice cream. Terrible food. Went there today and they are offering a la carte instead of a full meal with rice and beans. They are charging $5.00 for one taco and $3.00 for rice and $3.00 for beans. The same taco you can get at Taco Bell for $1.00. Nothing special about their food. I am a local and used to go there in the past. The menu has changed and the food is not as good as before. They are ripping off the tourist. Shame on you! Quality is not there anymore. They need to come down on the drink prices too. read more
