I came here with my whole family (party of 12) The 3 stars are for the atmosphere and the staff. The food was quite bad. The salsa was bland, the Mexican rice was pretty bad, the lobster quesadillas were terrible and the burrito bowls were pretty bad. No chance I will come back here. Total waste of money. read more

I'm not sure what's going on with this place. I decided to give it another try MONTHS after eating there and having a chicken beak in my meal. So fast forward to today and the food was just terrible. I'm pretty sure the salsa was a can of tomato juice with onions in it. Nothing else...no cilantro, garlic etc. it was terrible. Lunch came and the chicken was so dry it was inedible. And couldn't even get the waitress to refill our drinks and there were only two tables. Just won't go there anymore and won't recommend it to anyone. Great location though, just nasty low quality food (chicken). My suggestion would be to just order vegetarian dishes and no meat dishes it's so low quality tasting and obviously they haven't taught their employees about quality control. read more

This Texas girl loves her Mexican food. I realize I'm not in Texas, but really? The chips were saturated in grease and the salsa was bland. I don't think the margarita had a drop of tequila in it. My dinner was served cold and the cheese on the beans had hardened (I guess from sitting waiting to be delivered). And, I was virtually ignored...I never got a bill so I just guessed at what the total with tip should be (yes, I still left a nice tip). This was during low season, so don't say you were overwhelmed by the crowd...and your staff was adequate the evening I was there. Unfortunately we didn't even get to try this place. The hostess took our name and when our table was ready, the kitchen was closed. Ridiculous! This is my NUMBER ONE pet peave of restaurants! If your kitchen closes at 9, then stop seating people at least by 8:45! And DEFINITELY don't take someone's name, let them wait, and then tell them the kitchen is closed. read more

Could not believe that the restaurant substituted maraschino cherries for pomegranate seeds on the chile relleno that I ordered. Unbelievable. I am convinced the only reason this place makes money is that it is in a good vacation location, so people only come once a year and they don't rely on repeat customers. The food is less than mediocre, it is very expensive, and the one thing I was looking forward to -the margaritas- were horrible. Not tasty and I'm not even sure they put an ounce of liquor in there. I'm only giving La Cocina 2 stars because the service at the restaurant was good. Unfortunately, the good news stops there. I am a big fan of good Mexican food. For me, the most telling thing about how the food will be is the salsa they bring you at the beginning. So with the first bite, I was already worried about what the rest of the meal would have in store. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce with cayenne. No taste of fresh herbs or real flavor. I don't know the last time I couldn't eat chips and salsa...it is one of my favorite things to eat....even if it's mediocre. I ordered the fajitas. At least that's what the menu listed it as. I have many fajitas and they have always arrived on a steaming pan. These were on a normal plate, served room temperature. It was extrememly dry...the shrimp, steak, vegetbles...there was no sauce and I definitely wasn't going to pour their salsa on them! On top of everything, the prices were way to high...especially for what was being served. My family and I won't eat here again. read more

Food was very good... Server was really friendly... No major complaints... But they really didn't "read" the table very well... We had two kids melting down... Our group standing up - SO ready to go. We were ready to go but had to ask for the check... Not exaggerating - it was a 2 hour lunch with small kids... No bueno in that department. This is the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been too. The rice is bland and the beans were cold and tasted like they came out of a can.

Very disappointed after seeing the overall ratings were high. Hostess was very rude, however our waitress was very friendly and made up for the poor first impression. Cocktails were good and we enjoyed the salsa but the restaurant was not full and our food took way too long for a Tuesday night. We were not happy with the food and we tried several options off the menu, chicken was dry, fish tacos were not good and enchiladas lacked any sort of flavor. We had a party of 13 and everyone was very disappointed in this restaurant. Extremely over priced and not worth your time, ask the locals for their recommendations. read more

Wow...awful. We decided to give this spot a shot despite the not so stellar reviews. Waited forever to get a server to stop. Put in our order right away. Although we got our guacamole (not bad), we proceeded to wait for 45 minutes for our entrees which never came. I asked that they be checked on twice as I saw folks who came in after us get their food, but was simply told the food was in. After canceling the entrees and letting the manager know I was displeased, she simply said sorry and did not offer to comp any part of the drinks or guac. Very disappointing. read more

So disappointed in our experience here! First, when we walked in, the hostess didn't greet us, rather raised her eyebrows waiting for us to tell her how many there were of us. As we walked to our table with our mute hostess, one of our children slipped on a spilled drink on the floor and fell to the ground crying. No staff at the restaurant even acknowledged it. Then, we sat down and a bus boy dropped off chips and salsa without saying a word and we then we waited for a good 10 min before finally getting up and asking if we have a server. The food was very mediocre at best. Nothing special at all. The chips and salsa were the only things we would categorize as "good". The chicken served on both the salad and fajita was chewy and bland. When my husband used the restroom, there was a big puddle on the floor that he almost slipped on. Even on the way out, our daughter slipped again on another wet spot on the floor. Overall - it felt dirty and not well managed which is a shame given the cute decor and great location. La Cocina used to be my absolute favorite place on 30A. whenever we came i would always come all the time. always a wait but worth it. we went yesterday and the service was good but the food wasn't the good at all. not hot or fresh. also the atmosphere used to be everything but now it is modern which it was never like. i'm defiantly not returning anymore. read more

The place is cute and convenient. Wait staff and service friendly and fast, but the food. The food was mediocre and overpriced. Out of 7 people, only one enjoyed the food and she ordered a cheese quesadilla. Cheese dip is runny, chips are thin and fragile, salsa average. Fish tacos, burritos, tacos, beans, rice....all average or in some cases, rejected after one bite. Maybe we are spoiled in Atlanta, but there was just nothing here we would go back for. read more
