Seacrest Ceviche (sorry could not wait to dig in)

LoCo in SeaCrest, Florida - Worth a stop. Stopped for lunch and tried their Latin-inspired ceviches. The Scallop Aguachile (Mexican-style chili water) was fresh, bright, and nicely spicy. The Seacrest shrimp ceviche (Peruvian-style) was equally fresh and delicious but milder and distinct. Guacamole with freshly fried crispy chips was excellent. Good service with attentive staff covering each other. Definitely recommend for fresh Latin-inspired food and drinks

5 stars, no question. The food at LaCo is so good!! Tried the Peruvian ceviche, grilled fish taco and chicken quesadilla. All were delicious, though the quesadilla by itself was basic- it was the sweet mole sauce that made it pop. The ceviche had a perfect balance of sweet and savory with rich, deep flavor and a touch of heat. Loved the sweet potato and corn to balance out the heat. 10/10 will come back when we're in town again.

Ate here because it was super convenient and the menu looked good. Our service was excellent. My steak taco was good, but the lobster taco was some kind of mix of crab and lobster (not sure if it was imitation?) I had the basil strawberry margarita which tasted like a mix.

We had lunch at LACO today and every time in the past that we have visited the most amazing part of Florida, the 30A (in my opinion), they have been awesome! This Mexican restaurant is special because of their menu, friendly service, and its location. They have a large dining room and a full bar. They serve Topo Chico and they have Coke products, including Coke Zero- my guilty pleasure. To start, we had the guacamole and their calamari rings, so good every time. I had a salad with pepitas, tomato, peppers, pomegranate, avocado, topped with tuna - cones with a light vinaigrette and my husband had tacos. The throwback and the Pastor are his favorites but there's also pork belly and lobster. Just so good. I've had their ceviche with leche de Tigre- pretty authentic. Everything at this place is great and their consistency in quality, freshness and friendly service is why we keep coming back. They are part of a restaurant family here in the Panhandle, of which we have tried several and they also do not disappoint, ever! Love you, LACO, see you next time, soon. Tomorrow? Why not.

braised chicken enchiladas + black beans

We stopped in for lunch on a rainy beach day and were absolutely blown away by how delicious the food was. We started with margaritas and chips with salsa--both fresh and flavorful. I ordered the crab taquitos while my husband had the braised chicken enchiladas, and we shared street corn and black beans. Every dish was outstanding. Normally, we don't gravitate toward elevated Mexican food, but this meal completely won us over. Our server, Katelyn, was warm and attentive, and the restaurant itself strikes the perfect balance--beautiful and upscale, yet relaxed and welcoming. We'll definitely be back!

We ordered laco for takeout for a night in on a bachelorette and it was good. A bit pricey for what you get but it got the job done. The enchiladas were definitely my favorite with the shredded chicken, the chicken and shrimp fajitas were just okay and the hot sauces weren't very spicy or flavorful.

Craving chips and queso (from Texas), looked on yelp to find a suitable option. Instead of searching "Mexican food", I knew better and searched "Latin food". Pretty good options with better priced queso than a place closer to where The Rosemary Beach Inn. Being the middle of a week in an off-peak season, there was only two other parties on the patio. The service was great with a laid back and attentive style. The salsa was good, the queso was okay. But they did the trick for me! Enjoyed a white sangria and a grilled shrimp taco. Appropriate music and great vibe!

I shouldn't even give this one star. The food was horrible. Fajitas were dry, lobster quesadillas were soggy, steak was nothing but fat and the enchiladas with queso came out with shredded cheese on them and not the queso. I never dispute my bill, I always pay and just go on but this was just horrible food. Everyone I was paying for was too scared to say anything to me about how their food tasted until I got the bill and it sent me over the edge. Will not be back ever! read more

My wife,my two grown daughters and my five grandchildren walked from the beach. I was told by the hostess that the women in the group could not be served if they were not wearing shorts under their designer cover ups. There were plenty of tables inside and outside of the restaurant. We promptly left when we felt unwanted. We will never go back to this establishment again. read more

Service is excellent, food not so excellent. The chips were great, but I ordered a seafood Chimi ($25), it had a few frozen, tiny shrimp and a few, frozen, tiny scallops. This was WAY over priced for what you get. Kids had nachos....very dry chicken, not much cheese. Also, way over priced for what you get. We ordered guac appetizer, it was very cold and discolored, like it had been made a day or two before and refrigerated (advertised as fresh). Very disappointed. We go to La Cocina every time we come to Seacrest. We love this place!! Food is great! You need to try the fried fish tacos and Benito's Burrito. Their carnita tacos are also good. Service is always excellent! Ask for James or Benito. We highly recommend this place. read more

We went to La Cocina Saturday (3.22.14) night and sat at the bar! and it's a good thing we did because had we been seated we wouldn't have met Denise! She was extremely nice and welcoming and you could tell that she took pride in the place she worked! We had the appetizer sampler that included the fried avocado - delicious! everything on that plate was yummy! we then had a combination plate of enchiladas, it was good but not worth going back for. Very disappointing. Food was rubbery and cold. After declining the up sell to top shelf tequila for my margarita, I was charged for it anyway and there was absolutely not a drop of alcohol in my $12 margarita. Definitely won't be back. read more

From the perspective of an adolescent, I had a low-grade service. After sitting at our table for four for 10-15 minutes, we were finally served. The waiter came and talked to us as we had recently graduated 2nd grade, all the while half not focusing because he had to go to another table full of adults. When we ordered our drinks, another waiter came out and was kind to us (being younger like 24) or at least respectful like we were surrounded by a few elders. After getting our drinks, our waiter did not return for a another 5-10 minutes. Again, the waiter talked to us like "so what are we having for dinner tonight?" Leaning down low to the table almost putting his hands on his knees. After the waiter had left it was fine but we had ordered a cheese dip and the waiter either forgot to place the order or forgot to deliver because we got it close to 3 minutes before our meal arrived. Therefore, we did not get to "appetize" before our meal with the appetizer. My chicken quesadilla had hardly any chicken. Nothing against the chef though because usually the food is superb. Not to mention the waiter did not remember our drinks in the right order and forgot one of them. Usually the restaurant is good, but provides less respect to people younger than 20 because of tip issues. I did tip $2.26 which was about 16%; giving him a fair tip worth more than worked. read more

Just left the restaurant. We eat here every Sunday night after church. We walked in and the wait was going to be a few minutes for a regular table so we went to an empty table at the bar which are first come first serve. The table had yet to be bussed. We waited for 15 minutes for someone to come clean it but no one came. My husband walked up to the hostess station and asked if they could get someone to clean the table for us as the bar seemed to be overwhelmed and busy and the rude host, an older man, told him, "We are all overwhelmed and busy but I'll see if I can find a bus boy for you." We waited another 5-10 minutes and no one ever came to clean the table so we left. Never once did the host staff volunteer or seem willing to help clean. We love the food, but they obviously don't value their customers or need the business. read more

We took out our Grandparents out for their 50th wedding anniversary. The food was very filling and the price was great! Despite having a large walk-in party of 15, we were seated quickly. Hector did a fantastic job serving us and accommodated all of our needs! He was very friendly and made the atmosphere enjoyable. My aunt, uncle and I went to La Cocina today for dinner and it was fantastic. We started off at a outside table but the gnats were bothering us so our cute waiter James was kind enough to escort us inside and still give us excellent service. My aunt and I ordered the seafood chimmy, that was delicious and my aunt said her margarita was one of the best she has ever had. We went to this restaurant because it was listed as one of 2015 best Mexican restaurants. Whoever decided this, should visit it again. We went to this restaurant on Wednesday evening while on vacation. We were told the wait would be 45 min. After 45 min, we checked in. I saw the computer screen & they estimated time entered 45 - 60. There was a party that came in after ours who was sat 15 minutes prior to our table of 5. 1.5 hours after we originally came in, we were seated. My daughter ordered the guacamole. We never received it. The food took 30 min to deliver & the taste quality of the food was bland. We asked our waitress to see a manager & she asked why. I explained all of the above & she then said she was a part-time manager, but would talk to her manager. She came back to our table saying that the manager would give us 30% off of the bill. While, I appreciate them offering a discount, I think a manager should have graced us with the his/her company when a customer specifically asked to talk to them instead of hide in the back? It is pretty hard to mess up cheap mexican food, but they did. I was very disappointed in the restaurant & very disappointed this was considered one of the best mexican places in the area. We tried several places on the 30A best list & this was only only regret. read more

I can't decide which description best fits this place, "Hospital Food" or "Tex-Mex Night at the Old Folks Home." Underwhelmed to say the least. It began with the greasy chips and the very average house Margarita (last time I checked, Tequila is supposed to be an ingredient, but one couldn't tell from this weak concoction). I had the fish tacos, which were blander than bland. They came with undercooked rice and a glop of what I guess was supposed to be re-fried beans??? My wife ordered the chicken tacos and, judging from her expression, I'm guessing she was thinking Taco Bell would have been a better alternative. Given all of the 4-star reviews, it looks like I'm in the minority. To those folks I'd say, if you thought the food at La Cocina was good, you don't know what you're missing. To everyone else, I'd avoid this place and stick to the many excellent seafood restaurants on 30-A. read more

Nestled between Rosemary Beach and Alys Beach, in Seacrest Beach, the friendly staff offers some of the best drinks along 30A, including house-made mojitos, sangria and a selection of fresh-squeezed lime margaritas.

Meet the Business Owner: Christy S.

Rick Spell and Christy Spell Terry, co-owners of Spell Restaurant Group, own nine establishments – six along Florida’s 30A Highway and three in Memphis, Tennessee. Utilizing their business backgrounds, Rick and Christy have a unique perspective on how to successfully run some of the most popular restaurants in both markets. The father-daughter duo first partnered together in 2004, purchasing Brookhaven Pub & Grill in Memphis. The success of Brookhaven led them to grow SRG’s portfolio. In 2015, the pair purchased George's at Alys Beach and LaCo in Seacrest Beach, followed by La Crema Tapas & Chocolate in Rosemary Beach in 2016. A year later, Rick and Christy purchased Edward’s in Rosemary Beach. In 2019, the Spells purchased BABALU®, which currently has two locations in Memphis. A couple of Inlet Beach eateries – Shades Bar & Grill and Shaka Sushi & Cocktail Bar – became part of the SRG family in April 2023.

I usually post on another site but someone suggested this was easier so I'm giving it a try. I am recently retired and looking to help others. That being said I give this restaurant 5 stars. I actually have never liked Mexican food until last night. Great chicken fajitas and my wife enjoyed her vegetarian quesadilla. We sat at the bar to grab my signature drink, jack Daniels on the rocks and decided to stay at the bar because of the wonderful service we received there. Brunette with a genuine smile and hospitality towards us. We were warmly welcomed and there is a high level of customer service here that you really don't find at many places. This is your typical Mexican restaurant - the food is good and during the summer it is packed. What stood out was the excellent service from our waiter, Hector. He was very personable and attentive. We had a friend show up after we ordered our food. He noticed and immediately came to our table to take her order and was able to rush it in so her food came out at the same time as ours. He joked that he had to steal somebody else's order but I am sure he just worked with the kitchen to make it happen. The place and our waiter was very busy but we never felt rushed and our waiter was always calm and attentive. I hope he is there when we go back next year- he made our night! Let me start by saying that this is one of the biggest comebacks in the Restaurant world!!! I went to La Cocina awhile back and said I think this is my last time. I found out they were making some changes with the menu and other management decisions and BOY AM I GLAD I GAVE THEM ANOTHER TRY!!! Please treat yourself, it is not what you have had before. It is better in every way. The menu is very creative and diverse and has tremendous flair and taste. Our waitress Ally could not have been sweeter or better. I love La Cocina and go as much as I can. I went there on the evening of 5/31 and just have to give a shout out to the bar staff. The wait staff at La Cocina is always awesome but I just wanted to give kudos to the bar staff there this evening. Most often then not when one sits in the bar area of a resturant you have to do all but cartwheels to get the bar staffs attention. Not at La Cocina. The staff was attentive and worked like a well oiled machine. We were hoping for flavorful, authentic Mexican food, but everything we ordered was incredibly bland, no spice, no depth, just very underwhelming. Only thing we enjoyed was the street corn. The service was ok, our server was polite and brought everything out in a timely manner, so no complaints there. But the interior of the restaurant didn't do much to help the experience.
