Pretty decent service and reasonable prices! I went here the other day for a much needed manicure and was happy with the results. The gentleman who greeted me was super friendly and squeezed me in so I could get pampered for Friday night. I was seated in big super comfy chairs and was helped right away. The staff member who assisted me seemed a little new and super delicate with my manicure. So delicate in fact, that I didn't really get a good manicure. I still had a ton of dead skin and the nails were slightly crooked after being filed. I tried to talk to the manicurist a couple times, but she seemed a little tired and not friendly. I wouldn't go here regularly if you are looking for an awesome mani/pedi. They do the trick if you need something quick but I have definitely had better. read more

I finally found a nail salon that I can actually say I want to go back to!!!! I used to go to the salon on Central Ave in the Best Buy shopping center, but I have walked out feeling disappointed more than once and finally decided to stop going to nail salons for a few months. But Lacquered Up is a relatively newer salon in the Upland/Claremont area so my friend and I decided to give it a try today. We were greeted with excellent customer service the moment my friend and I walked in the door. They were kind of busy at the time so they told us they can start working on us in 30 minutes. I think his name was Hoang? He was very nice and courteous about it so it was fine! When we came back, we picked our colors and designs and Lynette did my pedicure and Julian did a french manicure with Hello Kitty nail art on my ring finger nails. They were both super friendly and made me feel comfortable. Lynette and Julian both asked for my name and we were having a very friendly conversation. They each spent a lot of time and detail working on my pedi and mani and not once did I feel like my time was being rushed. At other salons, the employees are usually gossiping with each other about something and most of the time they don't even ask for my name. At Lacquered Up, I never ONCE felt like their employees were just rushing to finish with my nails to work on their next customer. One thing I do have to mention is they do not have massage chairs with the built in tubs that you may be more familiar with. They have a huge comfy chair and they bring a bucket of warm water to you for pedicures. I usually enjoy the massage chair, but I do have to admit that sometimes it's a bit awkward sitting in the massage chair when it starts vibrating really hard and your body starts shaking while they are trying to work on your hands and feet. So not having a massage chair is not a big deal to me. I am VERY happy that I went to Lacquered Up today...if you are curious about this place, you should check it out too!! Going here for three years, usually every two weeks and absolutely NEVER disappointed. I encourage those that seemed to have a bad experience to try it again. Because I have absolutely never received anything but exemplary service and my nails last sometimes three weeks when I cannot get there because of my crazy schedule. I love out of town and found Lacquered Up on Yelp to make an appointment, expecting to get a standard gel mani/pedi before a wedding in Claremont. I had the earliest appointment time and they were open and ready. The chair is very comfortable and service was impeccable! I had two sweet ladies working on me (wish I caught their names!) and they were detail oriented and professional with their work. I left happy with my gel mani/pedi and went on my way. What I didn't realize then was the QUALITY. This gel mani/pedi has lasted me an entire month and I am NOT easy on my hands. It survived 3 weeks traveling in Italy and a week of work at a hospital where I wash my hands 10000 times a day and normal gel manis chip after 1-2 weeks. Lacquered Up is an absolutely exemplary spot for a pedicure in Claremont - no, scratch that. Lacquered Up is one of the best pedicures I have had in all of Southern California. Firstly, they treat me like family. First name basis, always pair me up with my favorite, Miss Nancy. They'll go above and beyond for my flakey self when I try to schedule something last-minute. Its far more of a deep cleaning sesh on my tootsies than a pedicure, so I am not the one to be getting palm trees and zebra stripes painted on my toes. And Nancy knocks it out of the park. Truth be told, however - they are all incredibly skilled, gentle, thorough and detail-oriented - I have also had the pleasure of enjoying pedis with Tiffany and April, and they are also just downright great. We just had my daughters 3rd birthday here at Laquered up! She and all her little friends loved getting their nails painted and loved all the attention they were getting. If you haven't hosted a party here, here is how it worked... I called a month in advance to book the appointment for a certain amount of girls and he will block out that hour(or however long it will take to finish the number of services booked). The price i pay is regular price to whatever the service costs. Since it was just the girls getting their nails painted it was VERY reasonable. They were so patient with the girls, even with the ones who had never painted their nails before and were a little shy. They let me bring in my own decorations and set up a table with food and treats. The place is small so I'd limit it to one table if possible. My daughter had a great time and loved sharing the experience with her friends as well. The party was short and sweet and perfect for my soon to be 3 year old. Adult parties are welcomed. He also said some parties will bring in their own beverages to enjoy while being pampered. They performed magic that I wasn't sure was possible! They repaired my completely broken, natural nail using nail glue and silk. My manicure looks great and on day two, the repair is holding up perfectly. I came in with 2 friends. We all had an amazing experience. Visited this nail salon for the first time. Great experience! I called when they opened and asked for a same-day appointment for a standard mani-pedi. No problem. All employees were very friendly (including their adorable dog Skillet). They even gave me a bottle of water when I started coughing. They do not have your typical massage chairs-jet foot tubs combo furniture. They have plush arm chairs that are very comfortable, and they bring out plastic tubs. The tubs work fine, except that they don't keep the water hot like the jet foot tubs do, so if you like your water really hot, you won't get that here. I didn't mind. As another reviewer noted, the arm chairs could use a deep cleaning; they weren't as clean as I would have liked, but then fabric material is much more difficult to keep clean than leather or vinyl. Mani-pedi was quick and professionally done. There were two people working on me at the same time, so it was fast. I was in and out of there in 45 minutes, including drying time. We had some friendly chatting, but not too much talking -- just the right amount. Total cost: a reasonable $46.00. read more

This place is not your typical nail salon! They have comfortable seats, and they don't use drills!! It doesn't have that usual smell of a nail salon, or the sounds of drills going on acrylics, or the noise of the vietnamese chatter. This place was actually quiet and relaxing for the price of one of those "regular" nail places! We came in with a bridal party and were all waited on with care by 4 of the employees there. We were even allowed to bring our own wine and relax! I had nail art done and she did it ALL FREEHAND!! It was amazing!! I usually see art done with tools but she was able to do it all freehand. They even did the nail art on the gel nails which I still have on my toes a month later! Excellent job! This is the ONLY place I will go now to get my nails done after bouncing around to many salons. There are several reasons why: 1. Always keep their appointments and take you promptly on-time, no waiting. Almost always assign two girls to do your mani/pedi at the same time, saving you time and making you feel pampered. 2. Quality products. They use all name brand, latest color polishes. I swear my mani/pedi lasts the longest here than from anywhere else! They have so many cute, current, stylish, colors to choose from. 3. Clean and relaxing environment. Sitting here at the nail salon as my toes dry. I am very pleased. My nail tech was nice and friendly but not over talkative. They carry Essie opi for lacquers I didn't get gel but they do have Ibd and gelish which is what I usually use when I do my mani. They don't have the big whirl pools chairs which is why I decided to come here. Over all it's more safe with fungus and germs and all those other ugly factors. It looks very clean the couches are comfy. Could need some cleaning just little minor stains. Usually black clothes tend not just fade into other fabrics. I didn't feel discomfort when getting my pedi done as the other reviewers. I will come back soon and try out the gel mani. I say try it and see how you like it. The many five star reviews speak the truth. This is an excellent nail salon for a number of reasons: 1. Laquered Up is immaculate. All tools are sterilized, every customer gets a new file, buffer, toe separators. Fresh clean towels are plentiful and your manicurist is not reusing a dirty paper towel on which to do your nails. 2. Lacquered Up does not smell like nail product or wax because, no, Hoang does not provide acrylic service (and it is a cheap shot to give this place a 2 star review for not doing acrylics - call a new place first!) and you won't be able to get wax or a cheap facial here. The lack of upsell is one of the many reasons I love this place. 3. The environment is calm and peaceful. Hoang frequently needs to wake me up after my service because I will normally fall asleep. This is one of the few times during the week when I truly stop and relax. It is most definitely a quiet and professional climate but customers are warmly greeted and treated with care. The furniture is comfortable and clean, no huge pedi chairs making noise here. Like reviewer Joanna V, the rolling chair during the pedi sometimes worries me - I don't want to send my tech sailing across the room. But again, that is not a deal breaker. The pedi is flawless. 4. Appointments: Book ahead. Do not expect to walk in and get your mani/pedi. Hoang's loyal following know to book ahead. In the year that I've been going to Laquered Up, Hoang has only run behind once and could not have been more apologetic. 5. The gel manicure: Exceptional! I stopped going to a place I'd been going to for nearly 10 years because I prefer the drop and foil method of removing gels rather than picking and scraping. Hoang and his techs do it the correct way. There is a wide variety of quality product to choose from for gels and pedis. Bottom line, my gel nails look amazing and last, as do my toes. 6. Hoang runs his business well. He is a professional and treats his employees kindly and respectfully and his customers like treasures. Gels cost $34. It is well worth it. Came here with my mom about a month ago just for some pedicures. It was my mom's first time getting a pedicure so she was a little nervous and worried about getting a nail fungus lol she left there wanting to go back and loved the experience! We loved how they use most of their tools only one time and they open the sterilized pouch in front of you. They don't have the typical spa/massage chairs, but they use a liner for the little plastic tub for your feet so it's nice to know that they do everything possible to avoid spreading anything. I have horrible feet. There. I said it. I'm a runner and I get pedicures maybe once every couple of months. By the time I roll in, my polish covers only the top half of my toenails, I've trimmed them myself (seemingly with a hacksaw), and at least two nails are black and blue from whatever new running shoe I've been breaking in. So, trying a new pedicurist is a bit of an exercise in humiliation (or at least humility) for me. Yesterday, I couldn't stand looking at my toes anymore, and I decided to try Lacquered Up. I'm so glad I did! What a welcoming atmosphere. You can tell it's important to them to make their clients feel comfortable. Linette was my victim--I mean my pedicurist. She brushed aside my profuse apologies about the state of my feet, assuring me that they weren't that bad. She then proceeded to give me a fabulous, meticulous pedicure, complete with a great, long massage. A couple coats of red polish, and I was out the door and feeling human again. I have been to Lacquered Up 6-7 times now since I moved to Claremont from Pasadena. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, you just need to ask and they will do their best to please the customer as long as it is appropriate and safe, ie. very short nails. If you are in a hurry just let them know and they will ramp it up, or slow it down time permitting. The salon is very clean, the instruments are sterilized in an autoclave, and the pedicure basins have a disposable plastic liner. Salon chairs with the built in basins are very hard to keep bacteria-free, which is why I was pleased to see the method used at this salon. I am a physician, so it is important to me that the best techniques for safety and cleanliness are utilized. My manicures and pedicures have all been excellent. The manicure lasted about a week, even with my frequent hand-washing at work. The pedicure never chips and is always beautiful. The entire staff at one time or another has time my mani and/or pedi and they are quite good and have great technique. My only complaint would be that the appointments are not always on time. At one visit it was 20 minutes late, this happened only on one occasion. Usually they are on time or within 5-10 minutes which is okay. My overall rating would really be a 4.5. I love Laquered Up! As a loyal customer, let me knock down some of what I consider unfair and silly criticism. The lack of massage chairs with built in tubs is actually a great thing; those things are germ incubators, not to mention water-wasters. This salon uses small soak tubs and changes the tub liners for each customer. LU are *highly hygienic*, using tools that have been sterilized for each service. Yes, the place minimalist, but what matters is there -- quality, cleanliness and comfort. Of course, it's great when you can just drop in somewhere and grab a nail service, but this place often doesn't have immediate openings for several reasons. They are loved by their regulars, who are in the habit of calling for appointments. They also work hard to be on time for each appointment, rather than squeeze people in and rush services. A nail salon that has enough staff on hand to accommodate every drop-in likely pays their people peanuts to cover all the down time. Those places often don't have a regular clientele to keep them afloat. I prefer going somewhere that pays their staff well and the service is consistently great. Wang, the owner, is the nicest guy -- and a very competent manicurist himself! He is low-key and quiet, but exudes respect for his such clients. He's created a lovely, mellow, yet professional, atmosphere. I've never had a bad service. The selection of colors could be wider, but I always walk out quite happy with the shade on my nails. The price is very reasonable and they do offer a loyalty program. I love that they don't upsell me! I went here recently to give it a try with a friend to get pedicures done. They have comfortable chairs, not massage chairs. You put your feet into a standard plastic tub, no jets,etc... They did a basic pedicure, I think it was $17. The lady who worked on me was okay, nice but I felt that it was just average. The entire staff is nice, they offered me a drink of water and had nice colors to chose from and the salon is small, so it doesn't get loud and crazy busy. I don't think I'll come back, not because they did anything wrong, but I just prefer other places a little more. My toes look nice but eh...
