Came into Ladybug Cafe, Gardena for brunch. If you've ever wake up feeling that hunger feeling and don't want to cook on a Sunday morning, Ladybug has you covered. The service here is so good I started checking my pockets to make sure I didn't accidentally tip BEFORE the meal. These folks are friendly, fast, and have that "we actually like our jobs" energy that instantly puts you in a good mood, aside of my morning coffee. The food is solid and comforting. The kind of good that makes you nod at your plate like you're agreeing with it. You know what I am talking about. Every dish comes out looking like it knows it's about to be appreciated. Flavorful, satisfying, and zero drama, just how I like my meals and my relationships. Ambiance is casual, clean, and chill. It's the type of spot where you can roll in wearing gym shorts, eat like a champion, and still feel classy. No weird vibes, just a clean space that lets the food do the talking. Ladybug cafe is the kind of neighborhood spot you keep in rotation, reliable, tasty, and pleasantly unbothered. I'll definitely be back... probably sooner than my diet would prefer. Miguel C.

I know I have been here before and shared a previous review. I just want to say I had another wonderful experience her. The staff was great in handling our larger group and the atmosphere was wonderful. It wasn't overly loud. So it made for a comfortable time with friends. Like the last time the food was tasty. I opted for the chicken plate with LB fried chicken and katsu. Beautifully prepared with a nice crispy and well seasoned batter. Definitely a will continue coming back. Enjoy!!

Butter Fish was as good as my mom's! Cooked in yummy miso marinade to perfection. Great spam musubi too!

Ladybug Cafe is a Hawaiian-style restaurant that has a nostalgic feel, like my grandparents' home. Some of their popular dishes include chicken katsu, fried chicken, butterfish, beef stew, and mac salad. They also offer burgers, sandwiches, and poke bowls as well as breakfast dishes. I finally came here for lunch and it wasn't too busy on a Wednesday. Hubby got the Ahi Tuna Poke Salad and it was a generous portion! The ingredients were fresh and the ginger miso dressing was delicious. I got the Chicken Katsu and Fried Chicken Combo, which came with salad, rice and mac salad. The Fried Chicken was seasoned and fried to perfection! So juicy too. The chicken katsu was a bit disappointing though. The chicken was pounded paper thin and the panko crust, although it was crispy and not too oily, separated from the chicken. The sides were pretty average. I heard they also have live music on the weekends and evenings, which is great in their spacious dining area. Love the cute drawings and messages from locals and the collection of ladybugs and lucky cats. I would come back since I work close by. I would definitely get the fried chicken again and try other dishes on their extensive menu. Friendly and efficient service. Free parking lot in the back.

Gardena is quite the hub for good Japanese and Hawaiian eats. I've been to Gardena Bowl, Cherrystones, but it's only recently that I got to checkout Ladybug Cafe! Walking in on a Saturday, the place was buzzing with patrons, so I knew this had to be up to par with many of the ono spots serving Japanese and Hawaiian cuisine in the area. My friend I chose to order two dishes. Our choices were the Ladybug Fried Chicken and Fried Rice with Char Siu. The Fried Rice comes with Miso Soup. The Miso Soup was served first. It had a light and savory broth that was comforting. It had a good umami rich miso flavor and made for a good soothing start for the meal. Up next, we got to try the Fried Rice with Char Siu. The Fried Rice had a surprising reddish color that perfectly matched the char siu. It added a nice visual cue to the sweet, smoky flavor. The Ladybug Fried Chicken was my favorite. It was freshly fried, golden and crispy. I enjoyed the juicy and tender meat and the crunchy outside. It is served with rice, green salad and potato-mac. I wish there was an option to upgrade to fried rice because this fried chicken really paired well with the fried rice. Nevetheless, I did enjoy this chicken with the potato-mac as well. The potato-mac was creamy and was so ono. Overall, Ladybug Cafe is a solid spot in Gardena for some classic Japanese and Hawaiian eats!

Checked out this restaurant yesterday morning with my wife. My experience was a mix of good and bad. Mostly good. Here are some pros and cons of this place. Pros: -Plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant. -Very reasonable prices. -Spacious and quaint interior. Comfortable and chill atmosphere. -Friendly staff. -Fast service. -Great food (except with one minor exception noted below). The French Toast and Portuguese sausages were outstanding. Cons: -Poor attention to details. The wife got a fork with a piece of food stuck to it, which means it wasn't washed properly. We also only got one knife between the two of us. We ended up sharing the knife rather than asking for a second one. -Once the food was served to us, the server did not come around to check up on us. -Maybe it was meant to be served this way, but the scrambled eggs were overcooked. Despite some flaws, I would still recommend this place. Not going to penalize a place for mistakes that most customers probably wouldn't even notice or experience themselves. For the price point and quality of the food, this place is damn good.

Ladybug Cafe is a solid choice for dinner in Gardena, it sits in the old Sizzlers location. Great parking - loads and load you'll never have a problem however getting out onto Western Ave may be a tricky but doable. Last night we decided to have a nice enjoyable dinner with the family (mom, brother and sister accompanied by their significant other of course) and talk chotto (talk short time). Entire staff at Ladybug are very good at what they do and friendly. Food is always spot on delicious.

Came here for a high school reunion lunch with 9 classmates. Parking lot was packed because of the Juneteenth holiday. Service was excellent, dining room was bustling. Ot had been years since I was last here. Conversations and catching up with high school buddies was great. The food however missed the mark. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and kalbi combination. Serving size was huge, but the flavors were off. Both meat dishes were bland and should have had unique taste profiles. One good thing is they serve beer, so that was a plus.

My last review for 2025. If you're looking for some delicious comfort Hawaiian food, Ladybug Cafe is the place. We made reservations for 10 peeps and was seated right away when we arrived. Service was fantastic and so friendly. As for the food it was delicious. We ordered the following: Spam Musubi- Simple and delicious. Loco Moco Bowl- For being a bowl, the portions were huge. Chicken Teriyaki and Salmon Plate- Salmon was perfectly cook and moist the chicken was little on the dry side but good. Hugh portions as well. Ahi Poke Bowl- The Ahi Poke was fresh and delicious. Overall, Ladybug Cafe does take you home to the islands. Definitely a place I would return to if I'm in the area and craving Hawaiian food.

The hamburger is huge and tasty. This is another fav of mine. The staff are very friendly and efficient, they treat you like family. The Hawaiian decor, the laid back cozy cafe and the ohana spirit create this hole in the wall food destination. You truly feel as if you're enjoying a meal somewhere in Hawaii. There's plenty of parking in the back lot, so bring your gang and get the good stuff

If you want some original style Hawaiian local food, here's a place you need to visit. They have been around a long time and have a lot of longtime loyal customers. They have a mixture of local favorites such as laulau, kalua pig, sweet sour spare ribs and saimin. They also have local style Japanese food and a full breakfast menu such as Portuguese sausage and eggs served all day.

Great spot for a huge, hearty meal! We came here with a large party and got seated without issue. Service was super kind, patient, and attentive - we had a great time! Menu had a good mix of meal types which was great for variety. Food came out quickly and tasted amazing - truly a great experience. The portions were huge and felt super authentic; prices were reasonable as well! We left feeling full and super happy about the meal. Great experience, I would definitely come back if in the area again. Thanks, Ladybug Café!

10/27/2025 Came during my lunch. The waiter was polite and friendly. We were able to order quickly. I ordered the short rib bowl. It was really good and the meat was tender. There is plenty of seating for 2 or a group.

I got to try items from not only my plate, but hers as well. The food was hit and miss. The beef teriyaki, which they cooked exactly to the doneness I requested, was incredibly good. The steak was tender - the teriyaki sauce was spot on. I also liked the macaroni salad which was hiding behind the lettuce. However, the sashimi and tempura missed the mark. While the slices of sashimi (e.g., tuna, salmon, and yellow tail) were fresh, they were cut way too thick. The assortment of tempura tasted good, and was crunchy, but was battered way too heavily. It felt like the batter was the focal point of the dish instead of the vegetables and shrimp, which I could barely taste. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive even though the restaurant was packed with people. The food and drinks came out fast. They served our sodas in chilled mugs, which was a nice touch. I didn't enjoy the fact that it was uncomfortably warm in the restaurant (it was hot that day). I don't think the AC was running. However, I won't count this against the establishment since the server stopped by our table to apologize about the warm temperature in the room. Some final thoughts about this place. -We came right at opening. The place filled up pretty fast. -There was plenty of parking behind the restaurant. -If this restaurant had executed the small things more effectively, as opposed to focusing on preparing the food quickly, this could have easily been a five star write up.

We ordered the Seiro Soba with Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura, which came out within about 10 to 15 minutes. The staff was very sweet and welcoming throughout our meal. The Seiro Soba was unlike any soba we've had before. The noodles had a noticeably chewier texture than the buckwheat soba we're used to, but we really enjoyed them. The tempura was also very good, with the Perilla Leaf Tempura being my personal favorite. Parking nearby seemed limited, so we parked along 166th St. and walked over. Interior is clean, simple, friendly service, and soba so good it could probably negotiate the challenges you probably will have finding parking. Parking? Well... let's just say alley parking builds character. Hot Seiro Soba + Tempura, The hot soba comes out steaming like it's clocked in for a full shift. The noodles have that perfect chew, not mushy, not stiff, just that "I trained in Japan for this" texture. Dip them into the broth and suddenly you're rethinking your taste buds in a good way. The tempura? Light, crisp, and not drowning in oil. It's the kind of tempura that makes you feel like you're eating responsibly... even though you're absolutely not. Cold Seiro Soba + Eel & Veggie Tempura, Cold soba is always a personality test. If you order it, you're either a purist or someone who enjoys refreshing noodles that slap. The eel adds that sweet-savory richness, and the veggie tempura brings the crunch. Together, they're basically the Japanese version of a buddy-cop duo. Chicken Skewers, Juicy, lightly charred, and simple, like the restaurant's way of saying, "We know you came for the soba, but here's a little something extra." Overall the Service was pleasant for a Sunday night, which is impressive considering half the customers were probably still recovering from weekend errands. Parking behind the building is... let's call it "intimate." You'll either fit or you won't. Western Ave is your safer backup plan. Usually places close after lunch…read moreservice and we were in the area so when we arrived, there was only a table full of patrons. As soon as we sat down and ordered, the place filled up! I was with three friends and I was not hungry until I tried the miso charred rockfish. I was quite impressed how fresh the fish is and loved the flavors meld into this one temaki. So I had to order another one. I also tried the daikon ponzu blue crab. That was amazing too. I'm looking forward to return while I'm here visiting. You have to make reservations. We were walk ins and got lucky today. It's best to come early to avoid the dinner crowd. The staff is nice and friendly. Often filling up our glasses with water while dining which is always a plus for me. Super attentive. This very well might be my new favorite restaurant in the South Bay.

So FYI everyone make your reservations!!!! This place gets busy :) I really appreciated we got to dine in and they made the effort to squeeze us in. Thank you!!! The service and the food were amazing. On Friday and Saturday evening they have oysters. Soooooo fresh, plums and delicious. My favorite hand roll was the snow crab with spicy mayo. It was perfect. Get the double rice , we got single at first and we were like ehhh yes needs more rice! The ambience is lovely and lively. The restaurant is clean and very well maintained. The servers stay on top of it , wonderful meal and wonderful service. We will be back.

The Spicy Shirmp Tomato Sauce is another favorite of mine! The bread is always served hot and fresh, one of my favorites! Their salad is also very tasty with a refreshing orange dressing. Service: The service here is always amazing, whenever I come in I am always greeted with warm welcoming smiles. The service is one of the other main reasons I come back all the time. The service here is always on par no matter how busy they get. Ambiance: The atmosphere is always cozy and welcoming. They can get pretty busy and there might be a small wait, but it is always worth the wait. This is a great spot for all sorts of groups!

Overall, we had a pretty good experience at Akane Chaya!…read more I ordered the mushroom and clam pasta and really enjoyed it. The sauce is on the lighter side--not the thick, heavy cream sauce you usually get with American-style pasta--which I personally prefer. The mushroom and clam combination was really good and flavorful without feeling too rich. My daughter ordered the shrimp pasta with pink sauce, but she wasn't a big fan. I think her taste is a little more Americanized, so she prefers a thicker, creamier sauce with less of a seafood/shrimpy flavor. My husband ordered the uni pasta, which was good, but I think he actually liked my mushroom and clam pasta better! We also tried the iced coffee, and it was pretty good too. Nothing overly fancy, but definitely decent. Overall, a nice Japanese-style pasta spot in Gardena. I would come back, especially for the mushroom and clam pasta.

There seems to only be 2 waitresses in the dining area, and I feel bad cause they look like they're moving as fast as they can but in a calm manner. They were very kind! We ordered the Umami Maze Udon, a spicy version of the maze udon, and a kaarage to share. My maze udon came out first, then the spicy and kaarage shortly after. The udon is a generous portion size! The udon itself was very chewy, although, kinda subtle in flavor. It was overall pretty decent, but I had better udon from other places. I did like how it was less salty compared to many maze udon places though. I heard the spicy version was actually pretty spicy haha. The kaarage itself were also very huge pieces. Although, I wish they had more seasoning or at least had a dip bc it was lacking in flavor. It was just a big fried chicken. The one thing that was kinda bothersome was the lack of air ventilation in here. It was a pretty hot day, so the restaurant was just very warm and quite uncomfortable. It felt like there was no air everywhere. Also the tables were just soo sticky. The booths also feel like the cushions were definitely overused. The whole seating situation was not a pleasant experience. Food was okay, did not make up for the experience dining in though.
