Came into Ladybug Cafe, Gardena for brunch. If you've ever wake up feeling that hunger feeling and don't want to cook on a Sunday morning, Ladybug has you covered. The service here is so good I started checking my pockets to make sure I didn't accidentally tip BEFORE the meal. These folks are friendly, fast, and have that "we actually like our jobs" energy that instantly puts you in a good mood, aside of my morning coffee. The food is solid and comforting. The kind of good that makes you nod at your plate like you're agreeing with it. You know what I am talking about. Every dish comes out looking like it knows it's about to be appreciated. Flavorful, satisfying, and zero drama, just how I like my meals and my relationships. Ambiance is casual, clean, and chill. It's the type of spot where you can roll in wearing gym shorts, eat like a champion, and still feel classy. No weird vibes, just a clean space that lets the food do the talking. Ladybug cafe is the kind of neighborhood spot you keep in rotation, reliable, tasty, and pleasantly unbothered. I'll definitely be back... probably sooner than my diet would prefer. Miguel C.

I know I have been here before and shared a previous review. I just want to say I had another wonderful experience her. The staff was great in handling our larger group and the atmosphere was wonderful. It wasn't overly loud. So it made for a comfortable time with friends. Like the last time the food was tasty. I opted for the chicken plate with LB fried chicken and katsu. Beautifully prepared with a nice crispy and well seasoned batter. Definitely a will continue coming back. Enjoy!!

Butter Fish was as good as my mom's! Cooked in yummy miso marinade to perfection. Great spam musubi too!

Ladybug Cafe is a Hawaiian-style restaurant that has a nostalgic feel, like my grandparents' home. Some of their popular dishes include chicken katsu, fried chicken, butterfish, beef stew, and mac salad. They also offer burgers, sandwiches, and poke bowls as well as breakfast dishes. I finally came here for lunch and it wasn't too busy on a Wednesday. Hubby got the Ahi Tuna Poke Salad and it was a generous portion! The ingredients were fresh and the ginger miso dressing was delicious. I got the Chicken Katsu and Fried Chicken Combo, which came with salad, rice and mac salad. The Fried Chicken was seasoned and fried to perfection! So juicy too. The chicken katsu was a bit disappointing though. The chicken was pounded paper thin and the panko crust, although it was crispy and not too oily, separated from the chicken. The sides were pretty average. I heard they also have live music on the weekends and evenings, which is great in their spacious dining area. Love the cute drawings and messages from locals and the collection of ladybugs and lucky cats. I would come back since I work close by. I would definitely get the fried chicken again and try other dishes on their extensive menu. Friendly and efficient service. Free parking lot in the back.

Gardena is quite the hub for good Japanese and Hawaiian eats. I've been to Gardena Bowl, Cherrystones, but it's only recently that I got to checkout Ladybug Cafe! Walking in on a Saturday, the place was buzzing with patrons, so I knew this had to be up to par with many of the ono spots serving Japanese and Hawaiian cuisine in the area. My friend I chose to order two dishes. Our choices were the Ladybug Fried Chicken and Fried Rice with Char Siu. The Fried Rice comes with Miso Soup. The Miso Soup was served first. It had a light and savory broth that was comforting. It had a good umami rich miso flavor and made for a good soothing start for the meal. Up next, we got to try the Fried Rice with Char Siu. The Fried Rice had a surprising reddish color that perfectly matched the char siu. It added a nice visual cue to the sweet, smoky flavor. The Ladybug Fried Chicken was my favorite. It was freshly fried, golden and crispy. I enjoyed the juicy and tender meat and the crunchy outside. It is served with rice, green salad and potato-mac. I wish there was an option to upgrade to fried rice because this fried chicken really paired well with the fried rice. Nevetheless, I did enjoy this chicken with the potato-mac as well. The potato-mac was creamy and was so ono. Overall, Ladybug Cafe is a solid spot in Gardena for some classic Japanese and Hawaiian eats!

Checked out this restaurant yesterday morning with my wife. My experience was a mix of good and bad. Mostly good. Here are some pros and cons of this place. Pros: -Plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant. -Very reasonable prices. -Spacious and quaint interior. Comfortable and chill atmosphere. -Friendly staff. -Fast service. -Great food (except with one minor exception noted below). The French Toast and Portuguese sausages were outstanding. Cons: -Poor attention to details. The wife got a fork with a piece of food stuck to it, which means it wasn't washed properly. We also only got one knife between the two of us. We ended up sharing the knife rather than asking for a second one. -Once the food was served to us, the server did not come around to check up on us. -Maybe it was meant to be served this way, but the scrambled eggs were overcooked. Despite some flaws, I would still recommend this place. Not going to penalize a place for mistakes that most customers probably wouldn't even notice or experience themselves. For the price point and quality of the food, this place is damn good.

Ladybug Cafe is a solid choice for dinner in Gardena, it sits in the old Sizzlers location. Great parking - loads and load you'll never have a problem however getting out onto Western Ave may be a tricky but doable. Last night we decided to have a nice enjoyable dinner with the family (mom, brother and sister accompanied by their significant other of course) and talk chotto (talk short time). Entire staff at Ladybug are very good at what they do and friendly. Food is always spot on delicious.

Came here for a high school reunion lunch with 9 classmates. Parking lot was packed because of the Juneteenth holiday. Service was excellent, dining room was bustling. Ot had been years since I was last here. Conversations and catching up with high school buddies was great. The food however missed the mark. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and kalbi combination. Serving size was huge, but the flavors were off. Both meat dishes were bland and should have had unique taste profiles. One good thing is they serve beer, so that was a plus.

My last review for 2025. If you're looking for some delicious comfort Hawaiian food, Ladybug Cafe is the place. We made reservations for 10 peeps and was seated right away when we arrived. Service was fantastic and so friendly. As for the food it was delicious. We ordered the following: Spam Musubi- Simple and delicious. Loco Moco Bowl- For being a bowl, the portions were huge. Chicken Teriyaki and Salmon Plate- Salmon was perfectly cook and moist the chicken was little on the dry side but good. Hugh portions as well. Ahi Poke Bowl- The Ahi Poke was fresh and delicious. Overall, Ladybug Cafe does take you home to the islands. Definitely a place I would return to if I'm in the area and craving Hawaiian food.

The hamburger is huge and tasty. This is another fav of mine. The staff are very friendly and efficient, they treat you like family. The Hawaiian decor, the laid back cozy cafe and the ohana spirit create this hole in the wall food destination. You truly feel as if you're enjoying a meal somewhere in Hawaii. There's plenty of parking in the back lot, so bring your gang and get the good stuff

If you want some original style Hawaiian local food, here's a place you need to visit. They have been around a long time and have a lot of longtime loyal customers. They have a mixture of local favorites such as laulau, kalua pig, sweet sour spare ribs and saimin. They also have local style Japanese food and a full breakfast menu such as Portuguese sausage and eggs served all day.

Great spot for a huge, hearty meal! We came here with a large party and got seated without issue. Service was super kind, patient, and attentive - we had a great time! Menu had a good mix of meal types which was great for variety. Food came out quickly and tasted amazing - truly a great experience. The portions were huge and felt super authentic; prices were reasonable as well! We left feeling full and super happy about the meal. Great experience, I would definitely come back if in the area again. Thanks, Ladybug Café!

10/27/2025 Came during my lunch. The waiter was polite and friendly. We were able to order quickly. I ordered the short rib bowl. It was really good and the meat was tender. There is plenty of seating for 2 or a group.

The first time I ate here, it took maybe 20-25 minutes for me to get my food. This time, I had my food in around 10 minutes. I was very impressed with this big decrease in wait time. This time I tried the new Hokkaido cream pasta, which tasted super fresh and made to order. The cream was warm and rich without feeling over the top like some other cream-based pasta sauces from Italian/American places. I liked the addition of spinach and mushrooms as well. The restaurant is in a food court with a few other options, and a decent amount of seating. It's also inside of a grocery store, so if you're with a picky group, everyone could theoretically order something different and eat together. I remember I was a little put off by the anime branding of the restaurant at first (it seemed a little childish to me) but Pasta Stories is really a solid wafu pasta place, and I love that they focus on different regional flavors of Japan. Prices are very affordable as well, with most pastas being around $15 and under.

To share, we had the following dishes: - Hokkaido Milk Bread: Crispy and fluffy. A good appetizer. I also liked the fish roe butter it came with. Kind of overhyped though. - Japanese Pancake: Pretty different from the souffle-like Japanese pancakes I've had, but this was still pretty good. The texture was chiffron-like and it was light and fluffy. Definitely less heavy than the traditional American pancake. The salted maple syrup and tart blueberries were nice layers that complimented the not too sweet pancake. - Pork Belly Eggs Benedict: What I liked the most was the crumpet-like english muffin used for this dish. It's very different from a traditional english muffin, but I liked the soft and fluffy texture of it that soaked up the hollandaise sauce which was pretty good. However, the pork belly portion was too small and was masked by the sauce and muffin, so I couldn't really taste it. - Nashville Spiced Hot Chicken Karaage: Solid karaage with moist a moist chicken interior and crispy exterior. The ice cream had a good Ube flavor and was super creamy. I also liked the crunchy bits on the bottom which added texture. The interior of the restaurant was clean and felt cozy. A week later, we returned. Parking is very easy in the free lot for the complex. The interior design is energenic, vivrant with amazing looking Asian inspired pop art. Very cool interior. You can be seated and served or order to go. They have a combination lunch special, two items for $15.99. But, many of those items have an up charge if you add a protien. Either way, in these times, $16 for two items is reasonable. Our server greeted us quickly and let us choose the table of our liking. There are a handful of booths and open tables. My wife ordered the Beef Bulgogi and the Eggplant. I ordered the Chicken Dumplings and the Garlic Noodle (adding chicken for $2 more). The portions are generous. Light eaters might be able to just order one two dish combo and share. The Beef Bulgogi was good but the veggies looked a bit dehydrated. The Eggplant was just okay. The Chicken Dumplings were very tasty but served cool. I ordered them steamed and expected them to be warm at least. The Garlic Noodles with chicken was the biggest disappointment. To me, and my wife, over cooked with crunchy pieces. The chicken was also over cooked, dry and tough. When our server asked how things were, I mentioned it. He didn't seem surprised. I asked if the noodles were always dry and he said yes. He offered to bring more sauce, which he did. I added it but it didn't make the chicken any better. In the end, I left 90% of it. They only have cans of sodas so no refills but they are attached to a tea house that serves a great selection of teas, bobo, etc. There was some good things but more not, overall, we were disappointed. Honestly, I was a bit surprised they didn't offer to replace my dish or offer a small discount. They could see the pile of food I left. Anyway... Hopefully your experience and food preparation will be better than ours and...enjoy!!!
