I've walked past this place a number of times now and finally decided to stop this past Saturday for a drink and I'm so glad I did. Ladyfingers is a wonderful mix of restaurant, bar, coffee shop, with pre-made meals to go, catering services, fun knickknacks, and an enjoyable atmosphere. I sat at the bar and enjoyed 2 1/2 priced mimosas over the course of about 1/5-2 hrs in the middle of the day (no shame...it's always 5 o'clock somewhere...and it was Saturday). I didn't order any food, but from what I've heard from the nearby apartment residents, the food (ordered in-house and pre-made) is really good and comes highly recommended. I will have to give their menu a try next time. Decided to try. Got there at 1130am for lunch. Ordered their roast beef sandwich, called The Hillsborough, fries and fountain drink. It was $22.65 and they charge for 3% for me using my debit card. Was informed this was a hot sandwich. I was given a to-go styrofoam cup to get my own beverage. Large market area. All the small tables are high tops with high stools. The 2 regular height tables are long, tables with 10 chairs to share with whomever or for large groups. My order was brought to me at my table in a paper bag! I said I didn't order take out and was informed that is how all their food is served. I was asked if I wanted a plate. I said yes and was given to me to unwrap and put my food on myself. The Hillsborough roast beef sandwich was SOOO SALTY it was almost inedible. It was also not hot, as was told. The meat was literally cold and this was supposed to be a hot sandwich. There was no bacon jam and no shallots. Could taste the mustard and horseradish. One extremely thin slice of cheese that wasn't even melted. The bread was a soft roll that was barely warm. The fries were hot and fresh but also way too salty and couldn't finish those either due to too much salt. I typically eat things with a lot of salt but this was too salty for me! I had to go back to refill my styrofoam cup withore beverage TWICE to eat even half my order because of the saltiness. Overall, way too pricey for what you get. Jason's Deli is much better for taste, salt, and price. I may try again and get something different. read more

I committed to staying focused and wandered over to the deli counter and filled out my form to put in my order: A Hillsborough with a side of Mediterranean pasta salad. My lunch was served with a warm and fuzzy feeling because as she was handing me my order she stated " We are so glad you are here". The Hillsborough is reminiscent of a classic beef on weck down to the bun. It could have used a bit more horseradish and crispy onions to balance out the saltiness of the beef but solid sandwich. Food was just okay. We ordered a fried green tomato BLT sandwich that was actually more of a grilled cheese and overly buttered/greasy. The lettuce got super wilted because of the grill which was not very appealing. Was supposed to have a white cheddar pimento cheese but tasted like white Kraft singles. Served with a side salad of greens but it was only greens and super lightly dressed with almost no flavor at all. Space was cute with a little market inside but seemed to be a bit too much market and not enough seating. Cashier was not very friendly or helpful even though we shared it was our first time in. Located in a new luxury apartment development and catering to mostly upper class Raleigh women coming from their yoga class, this place is pricier than it should for what you can but that's just the Raleigh tax at this point. This is one of those bougie Raleigh sandwich places that sells overpriced gifts and cookbooks and is frequented by a lot of people in half zip sweaters. Everything was aggressively fine but lacking any real personality. The staff was nice and quick, the layout is kind of a mess. This place has a nice ambiance but there were several things that left me disappointed about my experience. I came with my boyfriend on Saturday morning, looking forward to getting the Michael's English muffin breakfast sandwich that is on their online menu. Turns out they don't offer it on the Saturday breakfast brunch menu, which is fairly limited. A little annoying considering it's got the same ingredients (egg & cheese) that their brunch menu items have, and they have the English muffins available for sale. I ended up getting the breakfast burrito and my boyfriend got the açaí berry bowl. The açaí bowl ($8.50) ended up being a yogurt bowl essentially, and it was pretty small. My boyfriend is an açaí bowl fan and was surprised the price was on the cheaper side, but when we actually got our food it made more sense. The menu item name is misleading because it's not really an açaí bowl. The breakfast burrito ($12) was also pretty small and didn't come with any sides. The filling had good flavor, however it was somewhere between cold and room temperature. So that was disappointing. I also ordered cold brew and a water from the coffee bar and the woman working wasn't very friendly. Also, she asked "tap water or filtered?" So I said filtered. She handed me a cup and said I could get water from the back wall (the other side of the restaurant). A little odd for an expensive place like this, but ok. I walked over to where she said and it was a water fountain next to the bathrooms... Also it didn't work right - while I filled the cup under the vertical bottle spout, water also shot out from the front spigot. So this was all pretty disappointing. The guy and college-aged woman working were very courteous. And the interior is very nice. But most things at this place just feel too overpriced to be worth it for me. read more

Ladyfingers relocated to a spiffy new spot in Raleigh with seating and a larger fresh food and frozen food section. I had high hopes that their high prices would be justified with more offerings and a classy new setting. But I was wrong. I spent almost $350 to buy very overpriced frozen entrees and appetizers to take to my sister and her family while she was recuperating from surgery. I got a few items for myself to make sure what I gave her was as delicious as I hoped. It started out bad and went downhill from there. The chicken pot pie was tasteless with stringy chicken, a dry filling and thin, tasteless crust. The balsamic chicken over pasta was an unusual combination of flavors and barely edible. But the coup de grace were the ham sandwiches. Bragged on by the young lady at the cashiers station as her favorite, they had no ham. Instead the filling was a thin paste of too sweet brown sugar and butter with the slightest hint of a taste of ham. At first I thought maybe my item had the ham left out by mistake. I texted my sister with the photo and asked if she had any ham in hers. No, she said. False advertising. So buyer beware. If you want to spend a lot of money (think $40 for a chicken pot pie compared to a much better one at Fresh Market for $17), go ahead. Some of the choices may be better than what I purchased. I normally stock up on their frozen veggie lasagnes & makaroni when I want something quick for the family, but I visited their new location & really enjoyed the Smorbord & Mimosa and walked out with cold brews and Kambuchas... my wife enjoyed her chicken salad sandwich, my daughter loved her salad, and my son loved his smorbord as well, that is a rarity that everyone in my family likes the place, food, and vibe. It's a bit odd that there are no prices on the menu, as mentioned in another review. Plan to pay about $15.50 per sandwich (includes 1 side), which seems a bit pricey. I was disappointed that they were out of the duck confit sandwich, so instead I got the chicken Parmesan. My sandwich was tasty but not all that original (the fresh mozzarella was a nice touch but the bread wasn't much different from a subway sub). My husband liked his Hillsborough (roast beef). The spacious Ladyfingers Market & Eatery is on the 1st floor of the Sojourn Apartments off of Women's Club Drive. They offer fresh-frozen meals like those you can get at the Whitaker Mill location along with groceries and beer and wine. We tried 2 sandwiches-the Hillsborough,which was Beef on Weck, and the Millbrook which is reminiscent of the very popular country ham rolls! The challah roll was not the best vehicle for the Ham as it was tough and impossible to bite through. There is a write on the paper system where you can cross through unwanted items, and my husband asked for the shallot bacon jam to be left off and they put it all over it anyway. I also had the Mediterranean deli salad as my side and it was my fav thing. Seats are plentiful and the convenience of being able to pick up needed grocery items earns this joint 4 stars. Love the concept. Execution was super weak. Food was very bland. I mean VERY. Chicken salad even looked unappetizing. It had two tiny pieces of celery in it. A few pieces of pineapple. I added a lot of salt but it really needed other spices. Broccoli salad was bland too. Broccoli needed to be slightly blanched. More dressing. Maybe red onion.
