Decided to had a quick staycation in the location area with my partner so we booked this hotel for 2 nights. The experience was amazing! 1. We did not have any problem finding a parking here since it was plenty. Never needed to use valet so it saved us a few bucks. 2. The staff was so friendly and attentive. I asked for a big and high view and they could be able to accommodate. Not a problem at all. 3. The place is very quiet, we could be able to enjoy ourselves in the room and haven't been outside for 2 days. We order food delivery to our room with no issue at all. 4. We love the Pool and the Sauna, since it was in the middle of the week so it was not crowded at all, like only 5 people :) loved it. The only downsize is that there was no food for room service on some specific days but that was not a problem, we could use our own food delivery app :) overall, love it! read more

Feels like I'm transported back in time. A time of elegance, leisure, good manners, and lack of large screens and technology. We used to come here at least twice a year for over 10 years to visit my mother-in-law. Sadly she is gone but the memories are still linger here because nothing has changed really except for the absent valet and certain services due to the pandemic. Wow, the experience at this hotel was even worse, after the original reservation snafus I described a few months ago below. When we checked in and asked for a better room we were told the hotel was sold out. So we suffered room 219, which is a basement type room below the grade of the outside, very dark with other rooms looking directly into our window so we needed to keep the window curtain drawn. But then when we searched online we saw plenty of rooms available for the same night stay. NOT good to be lied to and get a room which was worse than necessary! This was done to us by a young man with dark hair, goatee type beard and balding top, very brisk in manner, who was on duty September 13 Friday evening around 945 pm. We are so disappointed that despite having stayed here many times over the last 25 years, we will never go back. At these prices we expect much better service. read more

This review is for the spa. I came back with my husband and I'm so glad we did. I was surprised to find the Spa Director covering for the spa front desk, Randy was very kind and got us set up right away. Luckily I got Arlene again as my massage therapist. She is just the absolute best! I booked a full body massage and she goes above and beyond with little details like keeping the bed upright when the massage is almost over so that I can easily get up, a bit of hair scalp massage and massaging my hands. I have been enjoying the Spa for many years ,but after it opened post Covid , management decided to charge an extra $ 30.00 on top of the Massage treatments for use of the pool and the jacuzzi .The reason according to the staff : Hotel guests were complaining that the Spa guests were occupying the pool and hot tub .Really ! Having been a Spa guest for so many years during different days of the week ,the pool and the hot tub was hardly crowded . Management has failed to recognize their Loyal Spa guests who pays for expensive treatments for a few hours of use and decided to give preference to their hotel guests ....what a shame .. read more

Really beautiful hotel with an amazing. Meeting space and outdoor courtyard with an awesome fountain. Not sure if this hotel was updated or if it was always elegant, but it has an old world charm with beautiful touches that make it feel brand new. I could only imagine hosting a fun party or night event here. The only hiccup at the moment is the fact that I accidentally booked a room at this hotel thinking I was staying here when I'm not (just the conference is hosted here). The hotel is imposing a hefty cancellation fee that I'm hoping will be negated. I'll be happy to provide an update once we see the outcome of the appeal. read more

I go to banquets two or three times a year. I feel lucky if the food is edible. At this Sunday banquet luncheon we were offered three choices: Salmon, chicken or squash ravioli. For dessert the choices were either a chocolate cake or an apple almond tart. What a decision, $40 for dry chicken, boring fish or a bland vegetarian dish. I decided on the chicken because it was served with, wild mushroom & pancetta bread pudding Marsala and roasted shallot pan jus. There was no way I could sneak in after lunch to enjoy the rest of the program. I sent in my check with a heavy heart I was shocked when they served the lunch. My chicken was perfectly cooked. It was tasty, moist and not the least bit dry. And, my goodness, the bread pudding was excellent. The tart was the perfect finish for a great meal. I wish every banquet I attend could be at the Lafayette Hotel. There is one downside to this location. In order to order a cocktail you have to walk down the hall go outside the building and into the bar and restaurant on the other side of the hotel. Then carry it back outside, past the valet parking and back to the banquet room. read more

This review is for our interaction with Lafayette Park which ultimately led to our inability to stay there. As parents to an infant and four year old, we were very much looking forward to a night away. Unfortunately, we mistakenly booked for the day of booking rather than the following weekend when we planned on staying. We realized our error a few hours later and immediately called. Lafayette refused to work with us. We assured them we would be booking again for the correct date to no avail. So now we are out almost $300 which will cost us our ability to get away at all. We are very saddened that their staunch devotion to their corporate rules won out over common sense and decency. Book with caution. read more

I was fortunate to get a great deal on jetsetter.com. I upgraded to the premium king room on the 3rd floor and it was magnificent. My BF and I really liked the spacious room, and even though we were facing the street, it was very quiet. The double paned windows were excellent! The apples at the reception to the morning coffee was a nice touch, even the in room coffee was great. If there's anything negative, its the location is off the beaten path. The staff was friendly, and we had everything we needed. I'm a fan.. and would love to come back. read more

That they work there , they aren't owners. The food has never been great but it's good. I used to meet friends here with regularity - now we go elsewhere. I was trying to do some work on my laptop in their lobby and the hotel manager approached me and asked me to remove my feet from the coffee table because I had my feet on them to prop up my laptop. I was only wearing flip flops I tried to explain to him that I am working and that ever other 4 star hotel I have been to I have never once had a complaint about that and I am the only one in the room... Had an absolutely lovely stay overnight here Saturday night. It's a beautiful venue, which explains why they have a ton of events here, from bridal showers (which I think was the event today) to weddings, anniversaries etc. Our room was bright with nice decor, overlooking the courtyard and extremely pleasant. We ordered room service for Sunday breakfast and it really was a cut above most such breakfasts. I got eggs Benedict and my wife got a delicious quiche which was en croute like a pot pie and delicious. I thought the cost was reasonable which I can't always say I've felt for much lessor breakfasts we've ordered before. We had a wonderful gift card for our anniversary and were looking forward to our breakfast so much. What a dissapointment the quiche was cold and had ice in the middle and it took 25 minutes to bring me out a burnt one. A nice getaway tucked between a hill and a cemetery, the Lafayette Park Hotel has modern amenities while effusing old school charm. Location: Right off of hwy 24, 10 minutes to downtown Walnut Creek! Not a lot of road noise either. Even though it's next to a cemetery, I don't think I saw it once I was on the hotel property. Parking: valet or self-park is $20/day. Steep ramp into the underground parking (which doesn't have a lot of spots for larger cars). Check-in: the foyer is pretty impressive with its dual spiral staircase. Front desk checked me in pretty quick Room: felt pretty large for being their standard room. Shower over tub in the bathroom. "Bar" area where the coffee machine is. There is a mini-fridge in the bar area. That was nice thing to have. Soft bed, desk, flat screen tv, USB ports in the clock radio and a usb/power plug charging station on the desk. My room had two large windows that physically opened. Pool: medium sized pool that goes from 3.5 to 4.5 feet. There wasn't enough lounge chairs, so we at some regular wicker chairs. 8 person jacuzzi. There is also a sauna, small workout room and a spa. It looks like some people come bye just for the spa. My mother and I stayed at The Lafayette Park Hotel, visiting the hotel for a family event, having lived in Lafayette most of our lives . We were met with kindness and professionalism by all staff members, from Brian our host, to the ladies clearing our food and Paige, our server for the evening. We enjoyed a delicious, unhurried meal tasting all the courses. We shared calamari- light and crispy, a strawberry salad with white vinaigrette- just a touch of sweet deliciousness, and enjoyed our salmon with pesto,succotash and asparagus salad. I have stayed at this hotel twice in the last two weeks and over I give them high marks. I have had a couple small issues but these were resolved quickly. During this covid time daily housekeeping must be requested which I understand and support, however they should do something regarding the in room coffee. Each time I stayed two nights and each time on day two I didn't have coffee or cream when I got up. Perhaps placing enough for two days in the rooms? That allows for not needed service on additional days and still proving a decent amenity. Just a suggestion Room was spotless as is the property and staff are very helpful. read more

Waste of money! The people at the front desk were rude and disrespectful. No customer service. They sneak in a $25.00 dollar fee for parking. The food at the restaurant is disgusting! The fireplace in the room does not work, the clock on the wall did not work and the toilet did not properly flush. Do not stay here or eat here. read more

Hubby surprised me with a weekend getaway for our anniversary. Lafayette Hotel was a perfect location! This was our first visit and they treated us like old friends. Wished us Happy Anniversary upon checking in and was very helpful to my husband with surprising me. While at dinner they came into our room and put some sparkling wine on ice and set out the gifts he snuck into our car. Their shuttle is a Tesla so that was impressive! Our driver was very helpful; he showed us where the restaurant we had reservations at was located and then took us further into downtown to drop us off to walk around and shop before we ate at Ruth's Chris. Since this was a last minute plan to get away we didn't get to check out the spa. All their appointments were booked but we definitely will be back and will schedule an appointment. Nice, beautiful property. Very romantic! Easy access on and off the highway. read more

This is my fourth time staying at this hotel and it was pretty much the same and all was well other than the pool/hot tub area this morning. I didn't arrive to the pool until almost 9:00 am (opens at 7:00) and was so looking forward to the hot tub soak and swimming some laps. When I arrived, no one was around, but within 5 mins. there were two maintenance guys and housekeeping. The maintenance guys were vacuuming the pool, backwashing the pool and checking the chemicals in both the hot tub and pool (mind you I was in the hot tub at this time). This made it a bit awkward for me seeing as I was sitting there trying to relax while they are literally two inches away from me pulling up the skimmer basket and emptying it, etc... Meanwhile housekeeping is cleaning the restroom by the pool, sweeping, emptying the trash cans and leaving bags of garbage everywhere. I am getting super warm by this point, but can't hop into the pool because they're still backwashing it.. not ideal. So I spend over 45 mins in the hot tub waiting for the pool to be open, which will cut into my morning schedule. Super awkward and inconvenient at best. A hotel's pool/hot tub situation is one of the main reasons I book certain hotels. This totally ruined that for me and I'm not one to complain, but as I type this, I'm still waiting for some pool time and there to be no housekeeping at the moment, but no luck and it's been an hour! Maybe the pool isn't typically busy on a Tuesday morning, but use a bit of tact. Like sweeping literally in my face and all around me like I'm not here?!?! What is that? I suggest doing all of these things before the pool opens or after it closes. If your going to advertise and exclaim that your pool area is such an "oasis", then maybe make that so for your guests. With all of the people coming and going, it felt more like a public pool that teaches kids swimming lessons or the YMCA, not a luxury oasis type pool at a hotel. Like I said, doing the bulk of this type of daily maintenance should be done before or after the pool opens or closes. It's just good business practice. read more

The hotel was selected for a family wedding. The venue itself is vintage and appealing. I was in all when I requested champagne glasses for the groom and groomsmen on wedding day and I was told there would be a rental fee of $1.00 per glass. In addition, there is a charge for a bucket of ice, plastic cup, hot water, forks even a cloth napkin. Paying over $600 for 2 nights is fine, its the additional fees for the small requests that made the experience so disturbing. read more

I called to schedule a surprise massage at the spa for my fiancé for the weekend before our wedding as a little de-stress gift. I asked if I could simply use his included pool pass for myself since he is not planning on using it to allow myself to relax before the wedding at the pool while I wait for him to get his massage. I thought this was a reasonable request since I am paying for his massage, why can't I use his pool pass. The employee at the spa said that she spoke with her director and said that she is not allowed to do that for me. I have to agree with several previous reviewers that the service at this venue is quite disappointing. I called for reservations for their Thanksgiving buffet ... was transferred seven times and hung up on twice. We actually did have Thanksgiving dinner here, which was an even bigger disappointment. (we've enjoyed their Thanksgiving buffet in the past) The service was fine ... the food was awful! They didn't have full turkey or ham choices, just sliced (white meat only) turkey breasts. The potatoes and stuffing were out of a box and everything tasted the same. The deserts were even worse ... how can you mess up pumpkin pie? Lafayette Park Hotel is a beautiful venue, but sure needs to make some improvements. read more

Review is primary based on customer service from hotel staff. Moving into the area recently, I booked a massage here because of positive reviews of course and was told by reception they had amenities to use as a guest such as a heated outdoor pool, gym and jacuzzi/sauna complimentary in addition the service. I came earlier to my appt to swim a few laps before my massage. It was a typical sunny california day around 67 degrees no wind/just pleasant enough to take a dip and sunbathe. I approach the pool dipped my feet in and it was ICE cold. I went inside the Spa and told reception they assured me it is supposed to be 77 degrees and noticed there was no steam coming from the area and something looked off. I said yes there is def no steam and it is very chilly probably 50 degrees or so. I mentioned when I booked the appt I was told the pool was in working order and I was excited to swim, hence me selecting this venue. The gentleman mentioned that he would call engineering team to look into it. The pool was still cold after my massage. As far as the Spa area - SUPER tiny but clean. There are two showers a tiny dressing area which felt crowded with 3 of us inside. The relaxing room was a decent size and had some tea to sip on. There is an outdoor nook to sit in as well. The day was not very hot but the interior of the spa lacked a comfortable temperature, it was very warm. Even the massage room was extremely warm. The massage itself was pleasant by Leslie. However the customer service from Helena, Ari and Nick from the management team was very poor in regards to the pool situation. Typically when all services are unavailable it is the staff who is supposed to figure out a solution to correct this and take care of the guest. They initially suggested I could come back and visit the pool area another day to ensure it would be in working condition or a discount on my services since I did not get the full experience. But I received a call yesterday stating that I was in the wrong and the engineers checked their Audit log which states the water temperature was between 75-77 degrees this week. Instead of offering a solution Ari was arguing with me stating they didn't do anything wrong. I explained to her how unprofessional she and the hotel staff were not acknowledging my feedback to improve in future. Rather she said now they are looking into start charging people to use the amenities. Really?! All because someone mentioned that pool was too cold. Not hospitable at all.
