Scored a reservation after Travers Day at Saratoga. The drive in to the restaurant through the National Golf Course as awesome. Then the restaurant itself was most impressive! The inside dining room was perfect but have to go back for the outside dining and the live music overlooking the golf course. The appetizers were amazing. The dry aged burger was good but not as remarkable as it sounded. The steaks were the very best! But what got us was finding Pappy on the drink menu. Having searched the Boston area for any Pappy's, we hit it here! We went to the bar after dinner, wanting to see the bottle and the bartender pouring it! We visited Heritage at Saratoga National yesterday (June 2) and had a WONDERFUL experience. We dined outdoors on their beautiful patio. Our server, Spencer (along with Chloe) were TOP NOTCH and made sure our experience was perfect. The food was very good and their HOMEMADE TATER TOTS were INCREDIBLE. This venue is under new management and we were very impressed when the Manager, Heidi, came to our table to ask us how everything was. She truly made us feel that we mattered and look forward to returning. read more

I have now been to Prime three times, once for date night and twice for a large group event. Every time the food has been great and the staff is always friendly and attentive. There is large patio area with beautiful views of the surrounding golf course. The place is pricey but the quality of the food is worth it. Two stars for ambiance and the sommelier was very attentive. Dinner was good until I saw something crawling down the wall onto the molding behind our table. It was only 10:20pm. One may think it's just one roach- big deal; but let's be honest if there is a roach in the dining room of a "fine dining restaurant" there are definitely 1,000 more you don't see. Alarmed, we called to the manager on staff. Unfortunately the only manager available was the bar manager (who we already had poor experience from at the Kentucky derby party). His response: "Well what do you want me to do about it!" They should have comped the entire bill. Instead they only took $70 off. Not too smart. Our next call is the health department. I will admit I was worried eating here with all the poor reviews, but I will say everything from the food to service far surpassed my expectations. The seafood tower was plentiful and duck dumplings delicious. All entrees from gnocchi to salmon to steaks were delicious and well seasoned. This restaurant has definitely turned around and revamped. What a sad state of affairs........This used to be the place to go for a great meal! Last night was literally embarrassing. From the stained umbrellas and awnings to the light pole that was leaning over begging "please prop me back up." The food - all of it except the crab tots were lackluster at best. My party all agreed we will not be back ever and this is after being customers for over 20 years. You can't charge those prices and serve that level of food just because you are on a golf course with a view. We are kicking ourselves for not just going into downtown Saratoga for a great meal with no views. Embarrassing...... read more

Run, don't walk, away from this place. Overpriced, lackluster and just plain boring. Went here w the wife and BFF and wife of BFF on derby day. BTW best derby day ever for your author! Went 4 for 6 and cashed in for a tidy profit of $1300! Yes, I had sovereignty and the exacta and the triple. But I digress. The 4 of us ate here years ago after the Preakness and it was amazing. So we enter a barely occupied dining room and we order some manhattans and wine. Ethan was nice enough but apparently the bartender decided to make the worst manhattans ever. The menu was underwhelming so we ordered the crab tater tots (cold, no flavor), duck dumplings (cold, no flavor) and the pork belly burnt ends (dry, cold, over cooked, probably worst I've ever had). The ladies ordered filets and the gents ordered the ribeye special. We did get replacement manhattans that were ok and Johnny the sommelier did point us in the right direction for a very nice bottle of cab. So the main course...the ribeyes were expensive and not even remotely close to what I would consider an $85 steak so look/taste. Tough, flavorless and just a major disappointment. The ladies filets were good, not great and the star of the show was the potato au gratin. That potato was delicious. You're better served going somewhere else... read more

Reservations were made 2 months ago, received text confirming reservation yesterday morning. Last night at 10:00pm received a phone message saying that are reservation had been cancelled due to change in hours of operation! Called the restaurant and spoke with a representative who confirmed that our reservations were canceled! I am local and enjoy dining at the Prime regularly both with family and friends. The grounds and landscaping are nothing short of spectacular here. I went this past Memorial Day weekend Sunday May 28th to the Buffet Brunch with my daughter and was sadly disappointed. All of the chafing dishes were not hot including the carving station. The cold salads were wilted and cheeses were not sitting on ice. It happened to be a hot day. None of the items mentioned were identifiable as nothing was labeled. I had no idea what dishes they were until I tasted it on my plate. The same held true for the dessert table and again I did not know what cake flavor I had until I brought it to the table. None of the desserts were kept cold either which was a concern as it was an unusually warm day. I was there at 10:45am so I was surprised that the hot foods such as the chicken as well as a fish in a cream sauce was dry and cold even though it sat on top of sternos. There was no server at the pasta station and the egg station was short a chef so the wait was rather long. The French toast was plentiful but again not hot and also very dry. I did have a small blueberry pancake and it was good. Back at the table I was asked by my server if I'd wanted a second mocktail which I was glad to get another. After a 20 minute period there was still no drink to the table. When I finally asked for my check he remembered and apologized for not bringing the mocktail. I am guessing that he assumed I no longer was interested in it? That was far from the case but he did not make a move to bring it. Lastly when I got home I had the worst stomachache ever and I did not feel good into the next day. I am certain that I ate bad food as hot food should be just that and cold dishes and desserts should be kept on ice in warm weather. My friends and I had brunch here. We were a large group of 7, so I made the reservation the week prior. SERVICE From the reservationist to the server, the staff was very attentive and courteous. Our server was Colleen. She was very polite and helpful. Her and busboys brought our drinks as soon as bwe returned with our first plate of food. How attentive! The food station attendants were polite and were focused on their work. ATMOSPHERE the restaurant was very clean, including restroom, bar, and outdoor seating. Outdoor tables has an umbrellas that cover about half of the table. When we were there, it was about 85 degrees. I think any hotter and we would have requested an indoor table. The dining areas overlook the golf course, and flowers are sprinkled throughout the property. It is quite a sight while enjoying mimosa. FOOD The food was absolutely delicious. I had omelette, zucchini salad, roasted potatoes, and some pastries and a glass of grapefruit juice. Everything was excellently prepared! That I didn't feel bloated after the big meal. Occasionally, I find a place so appealing, I consider not posting a review. I don't want anyone else knowing about "my" hidden gem for fear of others crowding my space. Fortunately, for you Yelpers, I'm a stand-up guy who feels a responsibility to share and spread happiness all around the world. Prime is one such hidden gem. Because it's housed at a golf course, a lot of folks don't even consider it as a true dining option. It can go unnoticed in light of the many other good restaurants in and around Saratoga. Prime itself is pretty much as expected. Good food at a premium price. It's going to be about $100 pp here. Probably more than a lot of folks are going to want to spend. But here's the thing: you don't even have to eat here. You can just come grab some drinks and relax in front of the terrific and relaxing view. There's a fountain and lounge chairs overlooking the course. I've come here just to kill an hour or two on my way to another restaurant for dinner. Or come for a couple drinks after a day at the race track. I've found the service fantastic, too! Long story short: I love this place. read more

Popped in for lunch today, remarkably not that busy ( should have been a sign)! Sat at a table in the bar section... 3 people seated at the bar. Waited almost ten minutes for wine and a Bloody Mary. Bar tender seemed a bit preoccupied with anything but us. He wandered by and said he would be with us in a moment, to take our order.... Long wait, as he chit chatted with a couple people. Ordered the crab cocktail to be told they were probably out... same with crab tatie tots... Octopus and Calamari apps were good... but cold. Lobster roll was horrible... so much tarrigon and the roll was stale... you could not taste lobster... which by the way had filler (something) not all lobster.... I just had the worst dining experience I have ever had at any restaurant at any level. I made reservations 18 for brunch for a family event. When making the reservation I knew it was going to be a very warm day, and so I asked for shade. I was assured we would have umbrellas over the tables. When we arrived there was two tables together for our group, but only one umbrella covering part of one table. When I advised that I had requested an additional umbrella for the other table I was told there were not any available. When I suggested that we take one of the umbrellas form one of the many unoccupied tables, I was told those tables had reservations and so we could not take any (Note : during the two hours it took to get served and eat almost all of the other tables remained empty.) After twenty minutes in the sun with no one from management coming to the table to discuss the issue, I went back to the hostess stand and requested to talk to a manager. While waiting for the manager the wait staff that has told me early we could not have an umbrella re-engaged and argued again that there was nothing they could do. I told her I was not discussing it with her any longer, but she continued to push her point. When the manger arrived she attempted to make things right, promised an umbrella and eventually moved us under the covered porch. In addition to the seating issue, orders were not made and/or delivered correctly, drinks were slow, and the original waitress had an attitude towards me. All in all, mediocre food at a high price with poor service, I will not be back and recommend you find any of the many quality restaurants in the great town of Saratoga NY. read more

My wife and I are admittedly drawn here as it's close to home, the menu is interesting and the patio is gorgeous....but as my stepson would say, brruuhhhhh....gotta be better than the paint job. The high - the drinks - selections are plentiful and results amazing. Really good blueberry mojito and blackberry jalepeno margarita.... The middling - inconsistent food quality. As noted, menu options were enticing, but apparently this past Saturday saw the C-team in the kitchen, barely capable of executing a proper grilled cheese I would imagine. The oil they cooked the fries and fish and chips in wasn't up to temp when they dropped it - resulting in oily chewy offerings that should not have been served. The folks in the kitchen should have known better. Plus side, baratta flatbread app was fire. The ugly - it took forever for the awful main course to arrive. While our young waiter was offering up a multitude of apologies - clearly the delay was a faulty fryer or oil was replaced. Said, maybe you could have salvaged some semblance of respectability had you topped off water glasses (forget comping a drink - all I wanted was more water). Clearly the young man was rattled by having to dance for the kitchen. Anyway, while servers were plentiful, service was awful. Shame, the venue is brilliant, but the dining has lost it. My husband and I celebrated our wedding here in 2018. At that time, everything about the restaurant and service provided through Mazzone was outstanding. We had only fond memories of our wedding, which was the last time we were here. For that reason, we did not see any reason to read recent reviews, which we now know that we should have. Fast forward to our 5 year anniversary- we made a reservation for dinner. Our good spirits were quickly diminished when we sat down for dinner. We were introduced to two servers. We then were given stale bread and waited for water refills and cocktails the entire meal. Long periods went by without any acknowledgment or being checked on. At first we chalked up the bread not being fresh to a wedding, thinking, okay maybe we had leftover bread from lunch, and that the wedding should get the best bread available. We had also long anticipated coming back for our favorite Surf and Turf Tempura Rolls. That evening, they were made with very hard, undercooked rice. Regrettably we sent them back. The Caesar salad was good. My husband's Halibut tasted off and he did not eat any. We ended up sharing my burger; the fries were absolutely soggy and limp so we couldn't have those, either. We had to wait a long time for the bill. They were nice enough to take off the tempura rolls. Before this we were considering another large, private milestone event at the venue and will no longer be doing so. The word to be used is not disappointed, it is sad. We left feeling sad on our anniversary. We probably won't be back any time soon unless we hear these ongoing issues are properly addressed. read more

This was an amazing restaurant with a wonderful ambience. At first we weren't sure we were at the right address, but when we walked in we knew we were going to have a wonderful time. We started off with the seafood chowder which they split into two bowls for us and the lobster cocktail. Then we each got a filet and shared the delicious truffle Parmesan fries and cream spinach. What the heck happened to this place. Been coming here for years and was one of my favorite places. Friday night during track season and it dead (first sign of a problem). Service 0 stars, food 2 stars, view 5 stars. We will not be back. First off the seafood tower has shrunk tremendously. $225 and it was half the size it used to be, the seafood was good but not worth the price. Secondly when meals came out for our party of 11 it took over ten minutes for all meals to make it out. Servers asking for who had what? Really at a place like this? Maybe you should hire a bunch of teenagers to be servers. Now let's talk about my $98 ribeye. Medium means I want pink, not grey and well done!!! Terrible!!! Do better. Then onto deserts. Our coffees came out and after I finished it we had to ask our waiter about deserts and it was obvious he forgot to put in. So we finally got those. We came to this restaurant on a Sunday, expecting what we remembered to be a bountiful and delicious brunch. However, that was not to be. We walked in and clearly no crowd, no host/hostess to greet us (we searched the restaurant for same), and no buffet set up for brunch. I wish we had known how the rest of lunch would go because we should have left at that point. It was a 12:30 PM reservation on Sunday. What happened to brunch? Not only that, what happened to their usual crowds? Honestly think that the word is out at this place has gone way down in quality. And that's what we experienced. The temperature inside of the restaurant was freezing cold. Yes,, I do like air conditioning duringbthe summer in restaurants when eating, but not set at 60°! We asked to sit outside which we were lucky enough to get since it was warmer outside than in the restaurant. Took a while to get the waiter and once he arrived, took a while again to put orders in - about 20-30 minutes! Only a lunch menu and even that had few offerings. In total, we spent 2 1/2 to 3 hours outside mostly waiting for food to arrive. The special lobster and corn chowder did not have a bit of lobster in it and didn't even taste like a lobster soup base. For $15 I expected more. There was no bread, crackers or other offerings and was told they do not serve bread until dinner! Our kids were starving waiting for their meals to arrive and despite the waiter seeing this, and being reminded that our kids ( ages 6 and 4) were hungry provided no options other than waiting. An hour later, they did serve the kids meals , while the rest of us starved watching them eat while waiting for our orders! Another half hour at least before we got our entrées all of which were OK, nothing special. We did get the most expensive meal, the filet mignon for three of us. It was delicious and properly cooked why did it take an hour and a half to arrive? We noted there seemed to be only a few diners and you would think with a few of us that food would be more quickly cooked with more expertise. The only positive was that despite our not complaining other than asking repeatedly when our meals would arrive, we were comped one of the filet mignon dinners, and the kids beverages. Still a very expensive meal, which dragged on too long with a little attention or care. There were no apologies and no explanations. Just poor, poor service and mediocre expensive food. We came to Prime for their Sunday Jazz Brunch as a party of six with two toddlers. We had made a reservation for 10 am (which is when they open). Upon our arrival, we were seated right away and Ethan, our waiter, took excellent care of us. Whenever we needed anything extra for the table or a drink refill, Ethan was right there for us. As far as the food selection at Prime, they have anything you could imagine: an omelette station, hot stations of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and French toast, fresh fruit, cheese platters, pasta stations, and last but not least, an array of decadent desserts. I especially liked listening to the live jazz entertainment while enjoying each bite of my French toast. I can't wait until the next time, as it is always a memorable time at Prime. read more

My husband and I, and two of our friends, went to Prime during Restaurant Week in Saratoga Springs. We had not been there in several years and our friends had never eaten dinner at Prime. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night (we had a reservation). Unlike our negative experience earlier in the week at Chianti II, the tables were thoughtfully placed in the room so that - even though they were close together - you were not on top of the other patrons and could speak with one another without yelling across the table. The noise level was 'lively' but not unbearable. Our waitress (who never shared her name) was scampering around a very active dining room and for this reason I will excuse her slight inattentiveness in taking care of us. Suffice it to say, it took quite awhile for her to take our drink order and by the time she did, we were ready to give her our menu selections ... but she darted off. We waited a good 15 minutes for our drinks, and gave her our orders before she dashed away. We received our appetizers and main course in a reasonable amount of time, but once again, waited a bit more than necessary for her to ask for our dessert choices. Also, in the service category, our empty dishes were not cleared in a timely manner which was noticed by another waitress taking care of a nearby table who rolled her eyes. Our dinners were delicious. Three of us ordered the Roasted Oysters and even my husband, who is not a big fan of the mollusks, was quite pleased. Three of us also ordered the Short Rib which was outstanding. The best this gourmand has ever enjoyed. My husband was happy with his Chicken Schnitzel. Our pumpkin-inspired desserts were also superb. I would give Prime five stars for the food, but the service was a bit lacking and that's why I am giving the overall experience only four stars with the caveat that I would given them four and a half if I could. We really enjoyed our evening with our good friends, and look forward to returning to Prime ... maybe if they have their Monday night Lobster Special again ... ? read more

The Albany NY area generally doesn't do high end well (see La Serre and Chez Nous and their fate...). Prime is one of those places....from the cheap looking sign as you drive in on Union Ave, to a lot of the staff here (generally...there's a rough edge to these people and without charm nor style...yes it is you: Albany NY). Having grown up with the Max chain (Max Downtown is my steakhouse back there..) in Connecticut, Rich Rosenthal (the owner) trains his staff properly and hires people that truly have a sense on service of the dinner guest (they are clients and you aren't a quick cash grab tourist..)...and makes sure quality control is tight. Prime looks good on the surface (like so much of Saratoga...), but beneath the veneer of a nice view of a golf course, this steak house would die a quick death in the Hartford/Westchester/Fairfield County area. You ask why...if you order a steak (which is their mantra apparently) medium rare and it's mooing...it's a pretty damning statement that a steakhouse at these prices should know what they are doing. A lot of patrons here (you know the so-called-elite of Albany and Saratoga...) are Webster's definition of how money and class are mutually exclusive of one another... you cant train a loud/drunken Marty McGilliuddy even if he can afford to live and dine here (my hometown is increasingly full of these people...)....and we had a few the night we ate here... Prime's crowd is somewhere between bougie and nouveau riche if you catch my drift... I'd get a cocktail here but number 256-B of price-product mismatch in Saratoga Springs.... read more

While it appeared to be understaffed, we still had an amazing experience at Prime. I ordered the salmon and my date ordered the NY strip - we both felt each was perfectly cooked with great flavor. Presentation of the food was spot on. Ambiance was warm and inviting. Salads were fresh. I tried the strawberry basil dessert with coconut gelato - my mouth is watering thinking about it again. So very good. This will be a regular stop for me when in Saratoga Springs. read more

Prime at Saratoga used to be the to go place for Sunday brunch buffet. Then Covid hit... and that wonderful tradition went away. So we were very excited to go back for our first visit in early July. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. First of all, the buffet had many FEWER offerings and yet the price was about $45. The food was OK... but quality and variety was not up to past standards. The biggest surprise though was ....... One of the many reasons we USED to go was because there were MANY food selections for my mother who is a celiac (can't eat wheat or related gluten products). This time none of the main lunch/dinner dishes were prepared in gluten free manner. All had sauces or breading that contained flour. I asked the buffet attendant whether there were some dishes that WERE gluten free that I had missed. He checked with the chef and said no. So basically my mom could eat an omelet, or turkey/roast beef. No other main dishes. And for $45! Later, I asked to speak to the Dining Supervisor... was told he would be over to speak to me. He never came! About 1/2 hour later... I saw a man who had been chatting with numerous other staff members for quite some time at the reception area (joking, laughing, working???). I went up to them and asked if he was the supervisor. He said yes. I told him of our disappointment. He basically said..."But your mother could eat an omelet, and sliced meat".... and then listed other accompaniments she could have. His attitude was uncaring... and unprofessional. After my push back about his attitude, eventually he said how this was their last Sunday brunch before the track season..... and he would mention it to the chef in the Fall for the future. This man shouldn't be in a supervisory position.... representing their restaurant. In the meantime, I have to credit the female omelet chef. I wish I knew her name. She saw my mom looking around, asking questions..... SHE offered to ask the chef to make the fish without flour-based sauce specially for her. Shortly afterwards, the waiter came over with a freshly prepared, quality-tasting plate of fish for her that was simply, quickly made with no gluten. THIS is the kind of excellent service that Prime used to be known for. Looking at other reviews just now, I see that many others commented about a decline in food quality and service. Crossing fingers that in September, the leadership will re-focus their efforts so that this restaurant returns to its former standards. read more

Great atmosphere, friendly service. Thats about it for the positives on this evening at National. Service while attentive and friendly just couldnt bring out our entrees or wine at any kind of pace or rhythm. Once we received our entrees my $60 usda grade "prime" strip steak could not have been tougher, fattier, and lacking of taste. My partners scallops were rubber and old tasting. As a couple that eats out 3-4 times a week we have not had a experience like this in years. Shain service staff was friendly but the product that came out of the kitchen tonight was horrific at any price point. We were there after the Belmont Stakes. First, we are 4 senior citizens and they sat us by the piano. I asked to be moved. They did. Second, one of our party asked for soup. He had to remind our server. They brought soup, twice. We ordered the strip to split and our waiter said medium plus since I like it medium rare and my husband likes it medium. It was so rare that we had to send it back. It came back and my husband could not eat his. It was still RARE. Mine was still rare but I ate around it. The other couple split the ribeye medium rare and medium like ours. She could not eat hers. So she sent hers back. It was not as rare so she ate half of hers. We had the shrimp and calamari appetizer which was excellent. The Mac and cheese was excellent as was the creamed corn. Our waiter was excellent. He was embarrassed about the steak fiasco. Went to Prime this weekend for my wife's birthday. Got the sushi roll app, it was great. But in a party of 4 only 1 really liked their meal. Salmon was really good, scallops were WAY too salty, borderline inedible. One of the entrees wasn't as ordered. 2 apps, 4 entrees, 6 drinks.... $300+. I don't mind high prices, but I like to be wowed when paying $75+ person. So many great places in Saratoga, I wouldn't go back. read more

The grounds of this place are absolutely breathtaking - that alone is worth going. It is a rather pricey course ( I have been told, I don't golf) but the group I went to the restaurant with said it is in the top 5 in the country. The restaurant is beautiful as well, high ceilings and plenty of seating. There is also a gorgeous patio with seating. Unfortunately it rained, so we had to sit inside. This is a steakhouse, with plenty of meat and seafood options. I personally chose the salmon. It was a bit salty but overall very good and I would certainly recommend it. The group I was with also ordered the Titanic dessert - while it wasn't gluten free, I was able to have a little ice cream. The dessert is huge! Definitely for sharing. Prime restaurants have been our go to for celebrating special events- My husband has been to Prime National on a few occasions but this was my first trip- It will not be my last!! Tonight we made last minute reservations (early Anniversary celebration) and were offered seating on the patio- It was a chilly evening - but there were more then enough heaters to make it comfortable! Sitting outdoors and enjoying the glow of the setting sun against the colorful trees was a treat you don't get to see when eating indoors. The Staff are attentive and welcoming - from the Hostesses to the multiple people waiting on our table- we had three gentleman who made sure our celebration was wanting for nothing! The food was truly all we could hope for! We started with a dozen oysters-they were prepared with great care- cleaned of any grit and easy to eat Next we ordered the 36oz Porterhouse Steak for 2-with whipped mashed potatoes - Mouthwatering - beautiful cooked- melted in your mouth like butter- The horseradish cream sauce was a beautiful addition and complimented the steak and potatoes very nicely! So nicely we ordered a second sauce and one was not enough for us. We also ordered a side of the shaved Brussel sprouts with bacon and hazelnuts- Delicious!! Again a single serving so we ordered a second because we enjoyed it so much! One of the beautiful parts of this meal was that we were not stuffed- very satififed and we had room for dessert - and since we were celebrating we treated ourselves to Espresso Creme Brûlée. This was a new edition to their fall menu- Creme Brûlée had nice flavor and enough for 2-included were 2 Biscotti ( a bit too hard) and 2 espressos- the only thing missing was the nice sugar crunch on the top of the Creme Brûlée which the staff shared with the kitchen staff- as much as I enjoy that crunch -it missing did not take away from the overall meal which was Fabulous! We used to eat here often growing up and always loved it. Now, the service is horrendous (when you're spending $300+ on a dinner for 2, I expect to not be freezing, not wait 45 minutes for my check, AND they never refilled our drinks once. We had nothing to drink the whole meal). My steak came out raw but I couldn't send it back for a few more minutes to cook because we never saw our waiter. Save your money for somewhere that deserves your business. Prime certainly does not. read more

Attended a wedding at Prime. The staff was super friendly and quick with bussing the tables and refilling beverages. The food was to die for, everything was fresh and tasted delicious. I wish I would have gotten to see the grounds more but we were relocated inside due to the weather. From what I saw of the outside it seemed like it is very beautiful. I don't know if this place is more for smaller gatherings than weddings but what upset me was the restroom was small. There was only two stalls, unless there was another restroom I didn't know about. Also there was no toiletries for guests, which I found odd. But I also might be spoiled from other catering halls I have been to. All in all it was a great experience at Prime. read more

I hate to say it but I'm done w dinner at Prime. I've eaten there a bunch of times and it's always a letdown. On top of poor quality meals, it's really expensive. I enjoy the atmosphere, especially out in the deck. Beautiful scenery, but the food, not good at all! read more
