Terrible experience with this company. Communication was awful from start to finish. We were told through AHS that parts were being ordered, only to later receive a call directly from Lake Area Appliance saying they wouldn't be fixing the issue at all and that we'd have to find someone else, but didn't even provide a proper diagnosis. Because they also failed to provide the insurance company with a full diagnostic report, this caused more delays and frustration on our end. On top of that, they were extremely difficult to get ahold of. Calls went unanswered and there was no follow-up. Overall, very unprofessional and a complete waste of time. Had them sent out by my home warranty company. Donny was very dismissive saying the damage to my washer was improper use. Like washing large loads and blankets. Ridiculous. Told my company it was not normal wear and tear and it would not be covered. I immediately reached out and told my warranty company that this was unacceptable as there was no nefarious use of my washer taking place. Asked for a second opinion, they sent a tech from Quality services who was amazing. Explained the problem, quickly fixed another small problem and ordered the necessary replacement parts. I can see why this company has terrible reviews. American home shield sent these people out to my house twice - - once to diagnose, and the other to install parts. The part can be delivered overnight but it took two weeks for them to come out and they didn't even fix the problem. All he did was buy parts based on what he thought was the problem without diagnosing anything at all. The coil fan is what the problem was. Given the bad press, felt compelled to share. The office quickly returned my phone call, explaining a text would inform me when a tech was en route to my house. Tech arrived within estimated window, was friendly and quickly diagnosed my ice machine was faulty. AHS sent me a text within minutes sharing replacement part was ordered. Will update if repair goes south next week, but impressed so far. This is a small business - with an AOL email address, so they've weathered a lot, across decades, to stay in business. American shield called this people. They sent Mike out, who is so incompetent. He came out twice wasting our time and didn't fix anything. Claim he didn't see a part that needed fixing on the Microwave; refused to fix the dryer because I unplugged it and scoot it to the side in the garage to use another set to do laundry. He inappropriate and lazy. If the fridge is suppose to be unplugged and food removed for over 24 hours, that should be told to the owners prior to arriving for the 2nd time. Talked to a lady name Donna at Lake area, who disregarded what I complained about, stating Mike is a professional and great guy. If I could leave zero I would. Mike show up and proceeds to take pictures of microwave. I tell him what is wrong with latch sticking and history of multiple repairs with same issue and broken part on inside that has been replaced twice. He states well it seems fine and takes pictures of microwave. He does not pull microwave out, check latch components on inside, nothing! Write report stating latch is sticking because of grease???? So AHS set me up with this company to fix my oven door/other. He pulled the door off and said he thinks it's missing two screws (but not sure. The oven is over 20 years old and works fine) The two areas that he referred to didn't look like there'd ever been a screw in there. I remember he specifically stating while writing the report that he had to put down missing parts (still no prove of missing screws or any wear and tear to the areas). Come to find out, all's they have to do is put down missing parts and AHS automatically denies repair request. This is a SCAM! I truly believe AHS and Lake Area Appliance are in cahoots. Donny (if he shows up at your door, don't trust him). I called AHS, and they said they could give me the number to Lake Area and they can give me an estimate for repairs, huh. Do not use this company! Very skinny older guy showed up drunk and rude and could not do his job. I recorded the guy being combative and when I asked him to just do his job he finally filled out a parts order form and left it with me. However, even though he did this and gave me an order form and we paid for a service call he never returned and then he lied on his form to American HomeShield. I really hate to write bad reviews but in this case, I simply have to. We have used this company in the past with American Home Shield and yes, they are hit or miss. Many times, I wish that they could complete the service on the first visit, however, it seems that they must get paid to make a visit twice. The gentleman who visited was very rude, barged into the house before being invited in and the first time, gave a very substandard assessment of the issue. Of course, we had to call them again. The same gentleman came for a second time and was ruder than the first visit. Instead of completing the service that he was called out for, he became an inspector and wanted to "inspect" the home. Needless to say, the issue is still not resolved, and I am left with a plethora of items that he has reported to the company that needs to be repaired at my home. He has also found other unrelated reasons as to why the appliance is not working, all before thoroughly checking all of he elements of the appliance. I must agree with many of the other reviewers that they office staff does, indeed return calls in a timely manner, however, usually kind and polite. However, there must be something going on because lately, everyone that I speak with is rude. I would not recommend this company anymore, at least not at this time. Horrible!!! First Mike came out on a Friday and didn't have the tools he needed. He left the washer taken apart and non- functional. He came out on Monday with an uncharged drill in which he had to use mine. He supposedly fixed the washer and left! Unfortunately I was on a work call and didn't inspect! I will never do that again. He didn't even have it plugged in! I plugged it in and now my washer will not even turn on! This was such a mistake. The only reason I ever filed with AHS was because my washer had a smell! It was fully functioning! They came up with it had a leak and additional crap that probably wasn't even true! The receptionist calls no reschedule! This contractor was assigned by American Home Shield to address my washing machine shaking during the spin cycle. Donny with Lake Area Appliance Service came out and informed me that this is a common issue that happens over time due to normal wear and tear. He said (word for word) that the tub had become unbalanced due to it warping from years of use and that once that happens, it just gets worse and worse from the weight of any clothes being added. I have this conversation recorded for 3 reasons. The first is that I had a very uncomfortable interaction with another contractor AHS sent out for a completely separate issue and I was home alone. The second is because I read reviews for this contractor before they showed up and not a single review was positive. Just about all of them reported them lying about the true issue, causing AHS to deny the claim and I was nervous I would be another victim of this (and unfortunately, I was). I even expressed this concern to AHS and asked for a different contractor and they said this one was the only one in the area... in Dallas, TX... sure. The third reason was because I'm not as mechanically knowledgeable as my husband and knew it'd be easier to just play back the recording vs attempting to repeat what the contractor said. All that to say, I have this man recorded telling me the complete opposite of what he told AHS. He told them that it was not normal wear and tear (my washer is over 10 years old) and that it was unbalanced due to overloading it (it's just me and my husband and we barely fill it halfway each wash). When AHS called them to confirm my allegations, Rhonda hung up on them. This company is disgraceful, dishonest, and I truly don't even understand what they have to gain from this. I've begun the steps in taking this "business" to small claims court as this is absolutely unacceptable and it's clear they do this all the time. This contractor has been sent out twice by American Home Shield to repair first my washing machine and last my refrigerator. Both times the service rep reported to AHS that the washer was overloaded.. seriously there are 2 people that live here and that claim was denied. Last week the same service rep came out to inspect refrigerator that had stopped cooling. He took the cover off to view the compressor but did not take the cover of the compresser off to view what was really going on. Then he reported the start relay was shorted due to "debris" and this claim was also was denied by AHS. Is this company in cahoots with AHS? Seems like! Run from Lake Area Appliance and American Home Shield. AHS sent Donnie from Lake Area Appliance to diagnose my washing machine. Donnie documented that the damage was caused by "misuse of the appliance" which lead AHS to deny my warranty claim. I received no information from Donnie and only learned of the denial after I reached out to AHS after 10 days. Upon researching the issue with my Samsung, I learned that tension rod damage is a common issue and typically occurs within 2 to 3 years with normal wear and tear. I was livid and filed an appeal with AHS. After much back and forth, AHS ultimately agreed to waive the 2nd service fee (which I refused to pay) and True Vine was assigned. True Vine reached out to me promptly, gathered information via text, and arrived with the necessary parts to make the repair. Tyler was very professional and my washing machine was fixed in 20 minutes. Even though it worked out in the end, I am cancelling AHS and would never use Lake Area Appliance. Prove to me that I misused a 5-year old washing machine. I have never heard of such nonsense and AHS initially tried to play hard ball, but I would not let it go. I too, believe they are in cahoots to avoid making good on their "fix it or replace it" policy. Avoid both companies. read more

After my washer broke, I contacted AHS who set up servicing with Lake Area. The technician, Donnie, came out and quickly determined the washer was beyond repair. After reading all of the negative reviews about this establishment and technician, I wanted to leave a review because my experience was very positive. The process was handled exactly as Donnie said and my outcome was having my washer replaced by AHS. The individual that answers the phone was extremely rude. I am a customer that came to them via AHS. I left a voicemail asking if there was a more narrow window of when the technician would arrive. I received a call back asking why I called. I stated that I had left a voicemail and She said voicemails are too long to listen to and asked me again why I calling . I told her I was merely wanting to know if there was a closer time within the window of when I anticipate the technicians arrival. I advised that I needed to leave between four and five, but wouldn't have to make arrangements for someone to be here if they were coming at that time. She couldn't hear and asked me to repeat information. I provided the information and spoke louder so she could hear. Throughout the exchange it was glaringly apparent that she was having a bad day or just a rude individual. Nonetheless, I was speaking to someone that heard this conversation while on speaker and said I cannot believe how rude this person is. She heard this and told me to call somebody else and hung up on me. Which, I did contact AHS and I'm using someone else. He (Mike) did not check the inside of my stovetop. He took pictures from underneath the stovetop in which there is a metal plate. Therefore, he still could not see in inside of the stovetop. I also took pictures and could not see the inside of the stovetop from underneath the cabinet drawer. He stated 3 burners were out and would order the parts, mentioned the circuit breaker being turned off. Nevertheless, the diagnosis he gave AHS was different, "stating wear and tear", of the stovetop. I tried calling Lake Area Appliance at least 8 times, no response or call back. I finally received a response after calling Lake Area Appliance again. The assistant said she tried calling but she kept getting a wrong person. She also gave me the same diagnosis that Mike, the technician, gave AHS, I reached out to AHS and explained the situation, and scheduled an appointment with another technician. read more

My washer was vibrating and making super loud noises during the spin cycle so I filed a claim with my home warranty, American Home Shield, and they assigned Lake Area Appliance Service to my claim. The technician, Mike, seemed friendly and knowledgeable. After putting my washer through the spin cycle to witness the issue, he told me the problem was with the bearings and drum and that would need to be replaced. He said this issue was common for LG washers and was normal wear and tear. However, when I received an update from AHS, they told me Lake Area Appliance had reported the issue was caused by overloading so the repair would not be covered by my warranty (because it was our fault). We are very intentional about how much we put in our washer because we did have an issue with overstuffing a previous one and learned our lesson! I cannot believe Lake Area Appliance lied to AHS about what was causing the issue especially when the technician confirmed verbally with me it was a known problem with LG washers. And, when I tired to call Lake Area Appliance to discuss and see if there had been some kind of misunderstanding, they screened my calls. I ended up requesting AHS send another company out to take a look, and their technician was able to immediately locate the issue and fix it within the hour. I had a problem with my dishwasher and contacted Lake Area Appliance Service on Monday, Oct 17 2022 to send a tech to my home to fix it. The call was scheduled to fit my calendar on Wednesday, October 19 2022 after 2:00 PM. When the tech, Donny, arrived at my home exactly on time, he looked at my dysfunctional dishwasher and immediately identified the problem as an issue with how the washer was mounted in my cabinet. To fix it, he came up with a unique way and then spent time making sure his resolution would solve my problem. They were sent by home shield and told them my dryer broke because I dried shoes inside? I have NeVER washed shoes- and never dried them on a dryer!! The crack started right at the line where the dryer drum was sealed so this was definitely an issue from the dryer. As if home shield needed more excuse they denied my service. The funny thing is Lake Area didn't even send a technician in person just called me on video and already made the assumption just by looking thru video clearly not enough to see where the crack started and not honest enough to tell me they were going to say the reason was something they completely made up.
