Unfortunately I can't recommend this business. I love to use local businesses when possible so I am sad to have to post this review. I specifically asked for vaccinated movers since I was moving my mom from an assisted living facility to another one and it is required and was assured their guys were vaccinated. I personally don't care if someone is vaccinated and only requested this due to the requirements of the facilities. Half an hour before the move I got a call from the mover saying he read my email requesting same and neither mover was vaccinated. I had to scramble to figure out how to get them tested to do the move which wasted hours and caused stress. The guys who did the move were nice and knew what they were doing, but I would not recommend this business due to their screw up at the office. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! Damaged a brand new piece of furniture and the driver tried to blame us saying it was like that before they moved. Company agreed to fix the piece of furniture and it still looks bad. When the driver came to pick up the piece of furniture to take into get fixed I can hear him cussing at me while loading it in the truck, he did not realize I was standing outside of the back door. Also, noticed several large scratches on other pieces of furniture throughout the house. They did not wrap the furniture prior to taking it to the truck stacked pieces on top of each other that should not of been set on top of each other telling me they knew what they were doing. Lake Movers fully deserves at least 5 stars. Daryl, Joe and Gina are wonderful. It was our first move with a moving company and we moved from Antioch to Roseburg, Oregon. Both of our escrows had hiccups along the way so it was a stressful time. Everyone at Lake Movers we're there when they promised, were diligent, kind and respectful and worked like mad. Charged $500 over quote. Hit my kitchen wall rounded corner with the fridge and put a deep dent the size of a half dollar, busted up my oak rolltop desk (sheared the pins and stripped the screws from a hard drop), I watched while two movers dropped my expensive stationary bike in the driveway grinding off paint and chrome, busted the skirt off of my portable indoor storage cabinet, busted my floor lamp in half, the wheels on my roll away were buckled under and my tools scattered like it had tumbled. We had a great experience using Lake Movers with our move from Discovery Bay to Brentwood. Our move required two trips with an overnight on the truck due to a closing delay. Daryl and the staff were great to work with. I just read a review that sounds just like our move. When they showed up as we were busy packing and cleaning they told me don't do this or that. I asked them why didn't you express that when you gave me your bid. It never was written anywhere where they don't move any exercise equipment unless its broken down to get through the door ways. They didn't want to take down the master tv, until I called the owner. They told me I have to disconnect the gas line for the dryer, again never told ahead of time! One of there problems is the show up with kids tools. They don't have the proper tools to do the professional job they are bidding on. Then they told me I had to either unassemble the king size bed as they said they couldn't do it or I would need to hire someone who could?? What did Lake Mover bid on? They ended up disessemble the bed for and additional charge. Yes when got moved in we noticed how so much of our furniture was damaged. No I will not be recommending them to anyone. read more

We have used Lake Movers twice. Once to move us out of a home and into storage containers and later to move us from the storage containers to another home. They are some of the best movers we have used. They were there on time. They worked hard and did not slow down the entire time they were loading and unloading our things. When packing our furniture into the truck and storage containers, it was like watching someone putting together a puzzle. These movers were experienced and good at their job and it showed. In our containers items were expertly packed leaving as little wasted space as possible. Our furniture was handled gently and wrapped with blankets to prevent any damage. All of the items were also secured with straps to prevent any movement. Nothing arrived broken even after spending three years in a storage container and being moved from one storage lot to another. The guys that moved us were polite, friendly, and gave us an honest accounting of the hours on each of our moves. I will call Lake Movers again read more

While moving can be very stressful this team made the transition smooth. Prior to signing on with Lake Movers, I had several moving companies provide estimates in addition to what they will and will not do. After meeting Daryl and receiving his estimate, I thought to myself this can't be real. He was not only a great guy to meet, he was thorough and met all his promises. When the team arrived, they got right to work and treated my furniture with kit gloves. They all had a great sense of humor and a pleasure to work with. My move required 2 trips and they appreciated that we had a map and that my boxes were alphabetized to match each room in the new house. So it was painless for both of us. The absolute best moving company in the Bay Area! My family has used Lake Movers twice and both times they have provided extremely fast service while being more than willing to adjust things on the fly per our request. We even asked them to move some furniture to a different room once everything was done and they did not hesitate to accommodate our requests. To make matters ever better, they moved an entire house from Santa Rosa to Brentwood area in about half a day and for less than $800.00. Look no further, these are the guys for the job! The owner, Darryl, is a very nice man who came out & gave us an honest, fair quote to pack & move all of our things from Brentwood up 3 hours north. They packed everything with great care, wrapped up breakables so they'd travel safely, accommodated our needs with timing & scheduling even as the schedule went haywire, and did it all while being polite and caring. They asked questions when they needed to but didn't need to be managed - they are experienced and I recommend them to anyone needing to pack & move their home. If you can, ask for Nicolas, he packed our kitchen like a CHAMPION & is so incredibly polite & works quickly and diligently. Can't say enough good stuff about them. And thank you Joe for transporting everything safely - we prepared to have a few casualties but so far haven't found one thing broken, dented, scratched or ruined yet!! read more

I went with this moving company after calling around and thinking I was getting a fair deal. I originally booked them for a four hour move. My furniture was in two storage units and it was all to be moved into my garage 3 miles away. I expected if they couldn't finish the job they would at least come close to it as my husband and two men from Home depot did the same move in a total of four hours and some change. I had two movers sent to me, one was over weight, the other fairly old and weak looking. I didn't judge them as I figured they were professionals and did this all of the time. 3.5 hours into the move the movers had yet to show up to my house from packing the first storage unit. I called the owner as I was getting very worried and had not heard from anyone. The owner seemed a bit on edge with my concern with time. I couldn't obviously now receive my four hour requested time frame as the men had their truck full of my belongings and still had not unloaded it. The owner and I came to an agreement that the men would finish their job and we would work on the price. 9.5 hours later the job was done. The men took a necessary lunch break which was not included.Throughout the time they were at my house I gave them a case of water and they took multiple needed breaks considering their age and agility. I felt bad for the movers but was very concerned with what cost they were going to create for taking so very long. The owner decided to cut me a deal, I believe he cut me one hours worth of time off of the job, which in the end cost me twice as much as I was first told. I am 7 month pregnant and could not intervene to help or I would have; this job should have never taken so long to complete and these two men do not belong in the moving business. I feel like I was taken advantage of considering my condition and that I had to deal with this move on my own. Im not sure if the owner gave me his weakest workers considering the original job should have been four hours long but I would never recommend this company to anyone else. We hired Lake Movers to move us from Brentwood to Oakley in July of 2013. The move went okay but a couple of weeks after relocating, we discovered that most of our cleaning supplies were missing, including a Swivel Sweeper, a Steam Machine, Dust Mops, Brooms and so on. This does not sound like a big deal but it cost us almost $200 to replace these items. I called Darryl and left a message and wrote Darryl two letters describing our losses, but he never replied to either my phone message or letters. I would think it would be good business practice to at least contact your client and/ or compensate them for their loss. I would not recommend Lake Movers because of their lack of communication, regarding this manner, and their lack of concern for my missing items. read more

I have never had such a bad experience with a moving company as I did with Lake Movers. I had a relatively small move within the same city. Several pieces of my furniture were damaged during the move, as they did not properly wrap them (bed, coffee tables, desk). When I asked them, they said "We didn't touch that." They also damaged the wall, door frame and bannister, which I had to pay to be repaired. Of the 3 men that came, it was the first day for two of them and the one experienced worker who was "in charge" didn't speak English so it was very challenging to communicate. They charged me well over my estimate despite me having moved the majority of items myself before they arrived. They also took two half loads (by choice) telling me it was easier than filling the truck in one load. Then, they proceeded to charge me more because they "had to take two loads." In addition, they stalled the job and it took twice as long as it should have. One of the workers disappeared for long periods of time. Disappointing, as I was paying by the hour. I have moved many times and I have never encountered such a dishonest and inept moving company. Do not use Lake Movers! read more

Do not use these movers! I moved 11 miles. I was told I would have 2 movers, a 27 ft truck and the cost would be $700.00 for 7 hours. If the move was finished early, I would pay less. I was also told they had 60 blankets to cover my furniture and they would take extreme care to protect it all. Morning of the move, a 24ft truck shows up and three guys. Now I'm being told because of the third guy sent I will pay $700.00 plus gas period. No matter how much under the 7 hours they get done that was the original contract. That was not the contract I signed. But I was willing to let that go. I was assured that my things were in good hands. EVER PIECE OF FURNITURE I HAVE THEY DAMAGED. Every single piece. My dining table and chairs, bar and bar stools all have to be refinished. Other pieces I am patching and covering as best I can. I cannot afford to have every piece of furniture I own be refinished. I specifically asked the person who came to my home to give my the quote and do paper work, "Will you take care with my furniture and cover it all completely? Do you have enough blankets? If not I will provide more. I just want my furniture protected." I was repeatedly assured that that would happen. It did not. I have moved quite a bit in my life. I have never had the contract changed the day of the move or had so many of my items damaged from any mover prior to Lake movers. If you don't want your stuff destroyed, find another mover.
