I was 100 miles from my destination when I pulled into exit 26A to grab lunch at Arby's. I pushed…read morethe brake pedal... and it went straight to the floor. I punched up Google Maps on my phone to find the nearest car repair shop. Google mistakenly had Jim's listed as 709-2 Plaza Drive. That is wrong. So I called Jim's and spoke to Junior, who gave me correct directions. I gingerly made my way to the nondescript cinderblock building at 100 Brown Ave. The guys hoisted the car up on the lift and suggested I had blown a brake line. I would need to leave it overnight, so I called up Enterprise Rental and got picked up. On my way out, I advised Junior to call me with an estimate. The next morning, I called to check on my car. They hadn't gotten to it yet. They suggested it would be finished by "3 or 4." "Okay," I said. "Just call me with an estimate." I had to get the rental car back by 3:00, so I returned it and got a ride back to Jim's. The car was fixed - 180" of new brake lines - $310. Now, I appreciate the fact that they did fix my car within 24 hours. But I did ask twice to be informed of an estimate. And I only learned the cost when I showed up. That's pretty whack. Also, the waiting room ceiling had a giant crack in it, along with buckets to catch the dripping water. So the place felt sketchy. But... they did fix my car. And when you don't have the ability to brake, that's a big deal.

I took my GMC there to get a price for replacing my leaf spring shackles. They put it up on the rack, and we all agreed that they would probably have to remove and reinstall my trailer hitch. They included this in their quote which was $350 less than another Portage repair shop, that wouldn't even step outside to look at my truck, they just pulled a quote off of their computer. Anyway, I scheduled an appointment, and dropped the truck off Monday late afternoon. Nicole called me the next day around noon, and said the truck was finished, and even better news was that they were able to install the new shackles without removing the hitch. This resulted in a price that was $150 less than the original estimate. They wouldn't have had to tell me that they didn't remove and reinstall the hitch, I would have had no way of knowing. But their complete honesty amazed me! Thank you Nicole, and please express my thanks to the technician that did the work! You have definitely. I don't think there are many places that would have charged less than what the had originally quoted.

Insulting and literally yelling the entire time I'm there to get the car. He got out of his chair to "square up" and threaten me, just to sit down and continue insulting me. "F****** moron" seems to be his favorite phrase if you make him mad. 0/100. I will never go here again and my job has already committed to not using them for vehicles either. I have never dealt with such a rude arrogant prick in my life, and I worked retail in the south for a while so I've dealt with plenty. *Buyer beware!* I would take my car literally anywhere but here!!!

And man, do these absolute legends of automotive repair always leave me incredibly satisfied with their fast and high quality work. Within 3 days, not including thanksgiving, they had everything finished. The problem is gone, and so are several other smaller problems that turns out were attached to the whole "everything is leaking" problem. The rough idle is gone, the power dips are gone, throttle response is better, no more oil burning smell. I dont know exactly what they did, but the fantasy in my head is that these engine wizards waved a magic wand and poofed my car into factory performance state. I have a 2008 base model chevy impala with just shy of 200,000 miles on the odometer, theyve done plenty of work on it in the past, and im sure theyll do more in the future. Well i'd hope i wouldnt need that work, but should i need that work, theyre always the first phone call. The people here are professionals, in every regard. They make Jiffy Lube look like a bad joke. This place is busy, because they have a lot of customers, because the people in this area know they are the best place to have anything done on your car. But even as busy as they are, everything is always done quickly and without any flaws. Could not recommend hometown auto repair more, i know my ancient worn out car is in good hands every time its there.
