I had a great experience. I stopped by with a pair of broken glasses (my best pair of glasses that had broken a few days before). My intention was to find out if, perhaps, Lakefront Eye Care could do a repair. The optician who helped me was very nice; and after taking a look at the situation, repaired my broken glasses right then and there, and without charge. I brought my 90 year old hearing impaired father here for an eye exam and Dr Kucha was so kind and patient with him. She gave him options to improve his vision so he can read and discussed his overall eye health and what he can do to preserve his vision. Our appointment wasn't rushed and we left with all our questions answered. Stacy the optician fit him with a pair of RX reading glasses and he can now read his mail which makes him happy. Our experience here was so positive I've switched doctors and am driving across town to see Dr Kucha for my own vision care. I now have a pair of progressive lens eyeglasses I can actually see out of after unsatisfactory experience with optician at previous practice. I think this might be the most fun and relaxed I've ever felt getting an eye exam. I grew up legally blind, not being able to read the letters while my little brothers or friends giggled caused me to dread these appointments. Even as an adult who had LASIK, I get overly anxious going. I've never experienced such slow service in eye care! I have been waiting for two months for contacts!! They said it's because of Covid-19 but this is rediculous. Everytime I call and try to talk to Amanda they say she's busy that she will call me right back and never hear from her! I feel like I've been left on the back burner, not sure why...I have good insurance, I guess they don't need my patronage I will go elsewhere. Last time they ordered the wrong contacts and I wasted my time driving all the way to the office after the office told me they were ready. Now today, you do the same thing and only have the contacts for one of my eyes. This is unacceptable and I have had too much time wasted by these idiots who can't do their job. Chose to go here because of the good reviews and was very disappointed--I WANTED to like this place. The actual eye doctor her self was great, and the individual who did my exam before I was with the doctor was also good, but the process of getting contacts after getting my prescription was horrendous. I understand that there are a lot of shipping delays, but I started trying to get contacts in September, and didn't get the ones I wanted until January--nearly 4 months later. Started out with daily trials. They offered me 10 pairs for one eye, and 5 for the other eye (they have different prescriptions), and said they'd call when the other 5 arrived, explaining that I'd need to try all 10 pairs to see if I liked that kind of contact. Weeks went by, and I called them to see when the other 5 would arrive and they said they had nothing on file for me, and then explained that I should be able to tell with only 5 pairs if I liked them or not (convenient). I then was fed up with those, so I asked them to order me monthly trials. Again, these took weeks to come in. Once I got them and decided I liked them, I ordered the monthly's (the ONLY monthly trials I had tried). Went in many weeks later to pick them up, and they ordered me the wrong brand. Upset is an understatement. Finally they ordered me the right brand and I received them in early January. There was an overall lack of communication and misinformation and I dreaded each time I had to go back, anticipating something would go wrong. Like I said, I understand shipping delays and the fact that it was somewhat complicated for me to find a trial I liked, but no one was willing to help until they realized they had messed up. Their receptionists are very helpful and eager to show you around and tell you about their deals. Eye doctor was very professional and informative. I gave them a 2 star rating a couple weeks ago. Well, they just lost the last star. I would go lower than 1 if possible. In 2 out of 3 interactions their customer service failed me with very simple mistakes that could have been avoided. I was on the fence if I'd go back, but I now have my answer - no. And there is no way I recommend them to others and in fact, I've already given poor references by word of mouth to friends. The mistakes made? 1. Input credit card numbers wrong and wouldn't retry or when informed that after I spoke with the card company and was informed it was declined due to inaccurate entry, they wouldn't even apologize. 2. They asked how I wanted the rebate card (tangible or electronic). I said tangible and well, low and behold, it's electronic and NOT tangible. They are not willing to own up to their mistakes. If they would, I'd consider giving another chance. read more

I really liked my previous eye doc, but he was just too far from where I live and work now, so a new place was in order. My hubs came here previously since we can walk from home, and he said it was really great. I took his recommendation and ran with it. Let me preface this by saying I'm a healthcare professional, and therefore I am a TERRIBLE patient when it comes to exams. I'm squirmish, nervous, and just flat out annoying I'm sure. I dread anything where my eyeballs are touched by another human being, so you bet your bottoms I was nervous about that eye pressure test. Lucky for me, they offer that super cool picture option to photograph your eyes and the tech that did the eye pressure test tolerated my nerves (and somehow got readings- yay!). The eye doc was very good at educating and explaining things. I definitely appreciated this since I'm also in the field and appreciate a good education session. Didn't shop for glasses but it looks like they have a good selection to shop through. I did get some contacts to try, which I ended up really liking and ordering. Hello, eyeball comfort. read more

Nice place. Got my glasses and contacts exam here and they were very helpful, pleasant and knowledgeable. I also learned that, apparently, I don't blink all the way (say waa?), But that's not important. They gave me a nice amount of daily contacts to try and they just didn't work well for me. My eyes kept being blurred. I was so discouraged because I've always had issues with contacts. I told the doctor about my issue and just said, "maybe I'm not meant to have contacts!" She refused to believe it. After some tests with my eyes, she changed one of my prescriptions. She did that twice, in fact. After that, the contacts were perfect! I'm so happy I can wear contacts now. Still haven't got my glasses, so I can't say anything about those yet.. so update to follow. The process was simple too with no pressuring and the expert was very helpful. read more

When I went to this clinic a year ago there was a different optometrist and service was decent. Now there is a new optometrist and I have waited four months and still don't have sample contact lenses. I have emailed - no response, called and talked to someone - no call back, and called again - different response. I was told that the lenses were on backorder which makes no sense four months later! The second phone call the person was "working from home" and couldn't reach the office - and this was during business hours. She then called me back later and said my lenses will be there tomorrow. What?? After four months, now suddenly after all this effort on my part you can get them tomorrow? I will be surprised if that actually happens. I will not go back there. Unprofessional, disorganized, dishonest, and failure to provide trial lenses after I paid a lot for an exam. If you look at positive reviews, most are from a few years back. The current staff doesn't seem capable of providing reasonable customer service. read more

I was so impressed with Lakefront Eye Care! I've been to other eye care providers, but have never felt as welcome as I did with Dr. Bert. Her staff at the front desk was friendly and welcoming, and while I was in the exam room Dr. Bert took the time to carefully explain every test and what she was seeing in my eyes. They have the newest technology too - I had an optomap photo taken (instead of having my eyes dilated) and there's no more dreaded "eye puff" test! My husband and I both recently went to Lakefront and saw Dr. Jill. He had to have an exam before getting glasses and said that Dr Jill was as friendly and thorough as can be. He is super picky about glasses frames; she had plenty for him to choose from and he is really happy with his final choice. The prices of the frames are really competitive. The hubby had to travel for work within a week and the staff was able to put a rush on the delivery - for which he was super appreciative. I already had a prescription from another Dr but chose to get my glasses here. Again, plenty of styles to choose from and was able to get my glasses within a week. The front desk staff is super friendly; they walked me through my complicated insurance so I understood all the details. They were also really nice when I got my glasses and they needed to be adjusted. I left really happy. Would definitely recommend anyone coming here for an exam or glasses. There are not enough kind words to describe the Lake Front Eye Care group. I have never been so welcomed and taken care of at ANY doctors office. These ladies, especially Dr. Bert go above and beyond. You can tell they are the rare kind of people that actually love what they do and are honored to provide help to others. Without even being an current patient, I called Dr. Bert in a panic 10 minutes before her office closed. Something was wrong with my daughters eye and I had a terrible feeling. She spoke to me on the phone and asked how soon I could be there. The whole office stayed open late for me and my daughter so that we would be able to be seen before everyone was closed on July 4th. Thank goodness she did as my daughter had a foreign object embedded in her cornea! Dr. Bert calmly removed it, my daughter felt no pain and she took a lot of time to make sure everything was out before sending us on our way. Dr Bert even emailed me images that night and emailed me on the 4th of July. She has us for good now. :) My daughter even said she loves going to the eye doctor now. How refreshing!! I feel so lucky to have found Lake Front Eye Care and look forward to seeing them again! read more

I was not aware when they refer you to Omni for cataract removal they're paid by Omni, however after getting both eyes done and having a clean bill of health, I needed new lens for my glasses and asked the tech if they carried flexon, like the ones I currently have, she replied yes, for $473 for the frames only, assuming I would just say ok!?!? I paid $95 for the ones I currently have then she told me I would have to leave my existing frames for 2 weeks, duh? I subsequently went to ReplaceALens, they measured my existing flexon frames and the $80 lens will be ready in 1-2 weeks when they will size the lens to the frame on-site. Plus they had a much larger selection of frames so I bought a titanium frame for $95 (plus a magnetic polarized lens that clips on the frame for free) for a second pair, plus the $80 for lens. Bottom line buyer beware and shop around.... read more

Dr. Bert is an expert, provided a thorough exam using the cutting-edge technology such as Optomap scan allowing to see the interior of my eye including blood vessels and optic nerve. Decided to return for the new insurance year and the shop seems to have stabilized and matured in a very positive way. They now have an inhouse optician who is thorough, helpful and not a pushy upseller, which is always appreciated in this marketplace with such crazy price differences in frames. There is a core staff member for the front of house who is extremely thorough and helpful. But really this review is for Dr. Bert. She is a very thorough doc, who takes the extra time to make sure the exam is as honed as it can be. She tweaked my Rx slightly again, and I was ready for the adjustment period this time, and now I am literally seeing with 20/15 vision. It is insane. To this point my lovely gf has always been the "sighted" one in our relationship, but now I am reading small font on street signs from multiple blocks, storefronts from moving cars, ID'ing birds on the wing - I feel like a marvel character! This is doubled with the truly wild contact lenses I secured this year (which is somewhat due to the industry pushing tech down to astigmatism market, but are still crazy comfortable and invisible when wearing, aka well fitted) and the well-worth it if somewhat $teep CPU screen blocking coating on my glasses. They accommodated my old frames to retrofit the lenses, worked out the best deal with my somewhat complicated insurance, and secured me a year of space age contacts & updated glasses for ~$400 bucks out the door. Since then, I have been existing in an entirely new realm for someone who has been wearing spectacles since 7th grade - the land of the jet pilot-level sighted! Extra point - everytime I have been in here they have had a very wide variety of clientele and have treated them all with the same respect. A great fit for this neighborhood, all around. I really enjoyed my visit with Dr. Jill Burt and everyone in the office was so friendly. My first appointment was supposed to be on a day it was forecasted to snow a lot, and unfortunately when I scheduled my appointment, my phone number was recorded incorrectly, so I wasn't notified that the office was closed. They emailed as well, but it went to my junk mail. I left a message when I arrived and no one was there, and Jill called me back personally to apologize. She made she my number was corrected. I only had a ten minute drive anyway, so I didn't go far. When I did make it back the next week for my appointment, I just really enjoyed the level of service everyone displayed. I went here based off the Yelp reviews and they were right! This place is great! I'm really picky about my eye doctors and was nervous to find someone new. I moved here about a year ago and it was finally time to pick a new place. Jill was so helpful and personable. She was extremely informative about the tests she was doing and I learned things about my eyes that I have never had anyone else tell me. They also were able to get me in right away and all the staff were very accommodating. They just opened near Sloan's Lake and the office looks great. When I came in for my eye exam they were very friendly and had a great selection of glasses. They took an optomap photo of the back of my eye, and Dr. Jill explained how everything looked wonderful and healthy.
